Hello Guys,
Everyday everyone needs phone to do a lot things...
Well,Every day one needs to take a shortcut and needs better user experience,We are very lucky that we are running on Snapdragon 636,Thanks to it
OEMs add their overlays on AOSP for the immersive User Experience
Here's a list of phones where the ROMs can be ported in order to get the Best User Experience
-Moto One Power[Android One]
-Redmi Note 5 Pro [MIUI]
-Nokia X6[Android One]
-Honor 8x Max [Upcoming Phone,EMUI]
Well,There are many phones that may run up with SD636 in Future
The ROMs can be ported from above devices for Best User Experience
Thanks,
Shravan Vadeghar
I think default OS of this mobile itself looks like Plain Android with just 1 or 2 small additions. MIUI has ads every where in their apps. It was one of the reason for me to get out of it.

Hey Guys,
As we got now some quite impressive selection of both android 2.3 and android 2.2 and even some android 4.x based ROMs, I was actually thinking about opening this discussion-thread to see what arguments can be brought forth for the named android versions on our galaxy 3.
It should help others to decide which ROMs based on which android version is the right one for them and to clarify the differences between these android versions.
This thread should NOT in any kind of way devalue the works of any developer on any newer or older android version, because it’s actually them that keep our legacy devices alive! Instead I’m hoping to see some different perspectives and experiences that you have made with the ROMs based on different android versions on our galaxy 3!
To start this discussion I summed up the features that are highlighted by Google for Gingerbread on http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-2.3-highlights.html to question those benefits according to our present status of android 2.3-based ROMs:
- improved user interface for simplicity and speed through changed menus
- Better and faster keyboard experience
- Improved power management through visualization of battery consumption and better managing of apps
- Internet calling and NFC-capability (NFC not for our phone)
- Enhancements for gaming through performance optimization (concurrent garbage collector, faster event distribution, updated video drivers)
- Native development optimizations (audio, graphic, sensors)
- Dalvik runtime optimizations
As I selected only some of the newer features to sum up I tried it without regarding my personal opinion, but as selections and accumulations always mirror my personal perspective regarding what is important and what not, feel free to add any features that you find important and do question the things that I’ve mentioned.
Looking at the newer features I ask myself, will we actually benefit from those compared to a Froyo-ROM (maybe also thinking about missing implementation of OpenGL ES 2.0 in android 2.3 – correct me if I’m wrong)?
Are those newer improved user interfaces an argument? Thinking about the modding and themes which our themers provided to make our SG3 a beautiful device!
What of these features improved your personal user and/or developer experience over android 2.2 on our phone?
Did you notice those differences?
So hoping for some different perspectives: let the discussion begin!
(As I said, feel free to criticize and question anything that I’ve mentioned)
hello,
i am just a system administrator at the xUSSR and have experience with building linux/*nix machines/environments/fixing software/sources/debugging it and etc.
i'v got my exynos note3 last weekend and was thinking about custom firmware. there is no real alternative for users except modification of samsung firmwares right now. easy alternative.
we actually can get (partially port/adapt) everything we want from cyanogenmod and make it feel like real cyanogenmod while sitting on firmware that based on samsung one. why noone done/tryed to do that before?
what exactly you want from cyanogenmod on note3?
i liked cyanogenmod for keeping it clean and giving user vanilla experience, ota updates and keeping awesome features that android drop like app permission manager that was dropped in 4.4 in favor of google-play policy.
Only reason i'm not using cm is becouse of no TW camera :/
Everything else is better on cm: simple, stock apps, themes, no bloat, etc..
Everyone want cm but nobody doing a port for n900
Sent from my SM-N900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Everyone is waiting for vanilla version or CM 11 for exynos device. nobody has succeeded yet. But something is happening now. We like all the features in CM. So we are waiting for one.
Sent from my SM-N900 using XDA Free mobile app
CM can never be alternative of stock galaxy note 3 rom. I need pen function to work with but CM does not support. Also camera application of cm is not user friendly,
I love Cyanogenmod, have used it for 2 years on my previous phone.
But like @dhruva7 said. I want a perfectly working camare and pen thingy.
Everything just has to work. I don't think anyone bought this phone just for it's browser.
So if theres S-pen functionality and a descent camera application that does 13mp photo's and still can film in 4k and slomo, I'm in! :victory:
from the OP: "i liked cyanogenmod for keeping it clean and giving user vanilla experience, ota updates and keeping awesome features that android drop"
Also: fast as hell, less memory clutter, the phone is snappier, everything feels better plus you get all the Google uniform interface design instead of T/W's crap where every program looks like it was designed from a different class of kindergarden children.
Cyanogenmod is an amazing rom, full of features, clean & fast, and with the constant updates it gets better and better
The folks above said it all.
Pros of CM:
- with the monster of a processor with 4 cores running @ 2.3 gHz (in your Exynos case, 4 @ 1,9 gHz and 4 @ 1,3 gHz), s**tload of RAM and so on, the CM is "fast as hell", which is an understatement. On any TouchWiz based ROM the usable limit is 2740 MB, and on boot around 1-1,2 GB are already busy with Samsung's bloat. On CM the max is 2840, and on boot the already busy memory is not a lot, I've managed to cut it down to around 600 MB, which leaves... 2.2 GB free.
- with CM, you're always with the latest possible base of Android.
- with CM, you get circa 26 GB of free storage, TW ROMs give you 22 max.
Long story short, if you intend to use the Note for some awfully heavy duty processing and you want to eke out every shred of resources it has, CM (or for that matter, any AOSP based ROM) is the way to go.
Cons of CM:
- it takes many nightly updates before you get a good really stable version, you have no idea what bugs might be within a nightly.
- the Note is named that way for a reason. xD That thing has a Wacom digitizer which allows the use of that nifty S-Pen and it's abilities, also, I shamefully must admit, it's fun as hell to use. However, Samsung are being businessmen in this regard, some might go as far as calling them d**ks, because the SDK for that pen is not open source, therefore, devs are not able to put software for it into any AOSP ROM.
- yes, the Camera. Samsung's camera app also is not open source, and you take noticeably better photos with it than with the AOSP camera.
Summary: being a sysadmin, you're able to control your server with an Android device, I'm not sure if that is loading the phone a lot or not, but if it does, and you use that Note for processing more than casual use (photos, doodling and drawing, etc.), CM is what you probably need.
Otherwise, TW based ROM would be better.
P.S. The best phone for heavy duty processing right now would be the OnePlus One, it has the Note's 3 gigs of ram, 4 cores running at 2,5 gHz, and CM is it's STOCK firmware.
Hi. I want to share my experience with a couple of ROMS. Maybe people new to ROMS or to the S6 would like to know.
Before my S6 I used iPhones for years (ever since the 3GS). I always jailbroke my phones and customized iOS as much as possible. For that reason I immediately rooted my phone and looked in to any improvements I could make.
Just so you know: Rooting usually trips Knox and yes you probably lose your guarantee. That's a whole other subject.
The S6 is a fantastic phone, no matter what everyone says about battery life, etc. It's still freaking great and much better than an iPhone 6.
1. My second favourite (but many people's favourite and #1 choice as ROM for the S6): XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition
If you want to immediately improve your S6 I suggest you install the XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition. It's a super lightweight version of the original Touch Wiz rom. It's got all of the Samsung bloatware removed. It's extremely fast, animation speeds are adjusted, and it makes it a 100% better experience than the original Touch Wiz that comes with the phone.
It comes with a companion zip file called the Aroma Package. It's like a second installation which includes tons of optional apps and customizations you can add to your phone. It's developed by @edgarf28. Go download it, and give him THANKS.
2. My favourite ROM (and also for many others): back-to-n0t3; Bring the larger fun to the flagship
The absolute best ROM for me is the back-to-n0t3; Bring the larger fun to the flagship. It's the Galaxy Note 5 firmware ported over to the S6. Since the Note 5 and the S6 are basically the same phone, the developer @arter97 noticed that in the Note 5 many finishing touches, memory management and performance was handled better than in the S6, so he ported the ROM.
I'll just say that after using this ROM my S6 has been on another level. It works great, it gives me 3 hours of SOT (and many people report even 5 hours). I use my phone non-stop: Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc. I give myself no restrictions.
Animation speeds are great, RAM never reaches max usage, and the higher DPI resolution is also something I love.
I also now have some of the features of the Note 5 in my S6: I can stream videos directly to Youtube, can use the "one handed" settings, etc.
So download it and thank the developer.
Both these ROMS will make you a happier S6 user.
Great explanation.
Fingerprint reader Funtionality
@gaston_garcia Does Fingerprint reader work in any of the roms you mentioned?
Does your private mode works properly on back to n0t3?
Fingerprint works in both Roms

i know exynos is not friendship for devs. but idont know that;
when is the coming cm 12 or miuı roms for galaxy s6?
sorry for bad grammar
We Have Seen that as soon as MIUI 9 (N) was launched MI MAX... developers ported that ROM for our Kenzo....and we were able to Taste MIUI 9 with Nougat with all the features that MIUI provided with android N....
The sad part is we didn't recieve any official update for android N form Mi....And we will never get to Taste the official MIUI Nougat....
BUT****
I came across some post & there it say that MIUI is planning for Split screen and quick switch for the Mi phone which didn't recieve Nougat update.....but they won't update it to Nougat they are planning to give out this features on marshmallow...Mi has already rolled out almost all the features that were supposed to be on MIUI Nougat (the features which were showed in the presentation).
Reports say that split screen has has already rolled out(In January 2018) for China alfha testers and was expected to see the features in global developer ROM by APRIL 2018...But it still has no signs....
The Main Question That Stands Is...Will MIUI 9 Marshmallow be able to be smooth with those heavy duty features??
I have a 2GB RAM Kenzo....and MIUI 9 Marshmallow sucks the RAM like Hell I can't even run 4 apps without reloading it....but the Same Kenzo on Custom ROMs runs like a knife through a cake....
I personally have seen MIUI9 Marshmallow take upto 5-6 second to load home screen...which is disgusting....you can't expect this....
I have also tested the MIUI 9 Nougat....Epic MIUI 9 Nougat....MIUI PRO ROMs and all are not that responsive as AOSP based ROMs.....
There are a few Reasons for this
1)MIUI being a heavier Custom skin
2)Alot of bloated Google apps which can't be disabled directly (but is possible by third party shortcut marker apps)
The above stuff is all about MIUI9 Marshmallow by Mi itself....it still lags....Freezes the phone....
And now introducing 2 more features...SPLIT SCREEN & QUICK SWITCH....which are heavy duty features.....
Now I now that other phone which recieved the Nougat update are running good....but the case exists only for 3GB n up Ram's
Rather developing code based on SPLIT SCREEN & QUICK SWITCH for marshmallow roll out Nougat for Kenzo...what's more easy??
Yes now being a huge company they think in different way....40-50 % phone by Mi are running under Nougat which means rolling out Nougat for specific devices won't help them...but developing those features on Marshmallow will help as more n more wiser will get that feature based on Marshmallow as most of the phone so have Marshmallow.... Marketing Tactics
The main focus of MIUI should be to improve the performance and not to add bulky features which will eat Ram more....I know that MIUI9 is all focused on faster app opening...and being light....but did it really do that?? Kind off no....
Most of the Kenzo users have already moved to custom ROMs...as we find great stability faster app opening...more multi-tasking...the real power of Kenzo come out here....and no one is really that interested in using a OS that's 3 years old...here we are getting the latest OS 8.1 with good performance HDR+ camera hell lot of features....
Really I don't think bringing those 2 features to marshmallow ROM will help MIUI to get us back to MIUI anyways....all we wanted was to taste MIUI 9 Nougat and all the features that it had...and thanks for our lovely devs for porting ROM....and giving us such a great ROM..... though the development is slowly getting down.....
The only features that attracted me personally was FACE UNLOCK..but the way Ram management was...it didn't took a second to revert back to custom ROMs....and MIUI is planning this...
Giving SPLIT SCREEN & QUICK SWITCH on marshmallow.....rather unlock the bootloader of the the devices that has not received Nougat..and let them live their life in peace.....that's more easy then a developing ROMs...and creating a mess for your developers....let their super minds think on your upcoming UI and redesign stuff in that....
Yes it will be worth giving a try when this features come...but they won't be able to keep users over MIUI for long time because we all have already used this things and Marshmallow ??and MIUI9 suck anyways...
Comment down what do you think...

I have given up hopes of official MIUI for RN3 and ill say im more happy trying out all these powerful feature rich roms that some awesome ppl on this forum are making. Though MIUI looks fancy but the power of a stock rom is to another level. MI won't care much for older devices like ours and its better to give up miui.

Exactly what I think of Apple iPhone and One plus ???when compared together ??
Hi,
I just want to know, according to you what is the best Rom you experience on Redmi Note 7 ? (basing on user experience, number of bugs, features, battery drain, responsivity ...)
It is just a personnal opinion and does not reflect the quality of rom for which the developers do a very good job
Tried Pixel Experience, Bootloggers, and AOSP extended and from those three AoSP is the best so far, best battery life, performance and fewest bugs.
Xiaomi.eu the best imo
Global stock excellent for me
Enviado desde mi Redmi Note 7 mediante Tapatalk
I'm interested in MicroG/NoGApps [do not have the device (yet)]. Usually I prefer LOS, so if official LOS exists the MicroG builds from download.lineage.microg.org - because of hal1/3 issue on lavender official LOS does not look nearby. So best MicroG ROM options to avoid deodex services.jar seem to be [OFFICIAL][9.0]AospExtended v6.6 or Havoc-OS-2.6-[9.0]-[Official] or [9.0][OFFICIAL]crDroid v5.6[Lavender]?
Regarding Problems with video recording & WhatsApp video call and proximity sensor all those ROMs are the same?
Xiaomi.eu it's been a good ROM, can hit around 8~9 hours of SOT, I've readed sometimes up to 10hours
I wish you separated miui into 1.) stock and 2.) xiaomi eu.
which I can't try yet as I'm still waiting to have my bootloader unlocked.
Conclusion: Don't be a tester for underdeveloped ROM, stay safe and stable with stock ROM.

Are you serious? No one is holding a gun against your head and telling you to install roms. Those people spend hours and hours working so we can have multiple choices (not everyone likes miui) and they dont get a cent for their job. At least someone can do is install rom and give their feedback. These days roms are not making too much difference when it comes to overall performance cause phones have way better hardware and specs. But not so long ago when phones had 512mb of ram and you get them with fully bloated stock roms the only way of having a normal phone was to root and install a custom rom. So no need to trash talk if you dont like it dont use it. I personally havent tried single rom so far (tho i got my note 7 few weeks ago). I settled for xiaomi eu cause its stable with everything working and i dont have time to flash roms at the moment. But i will always be fan of pure android and OP if you like pure android and a bit smoother experience go for custom roms also battery will sure be better there. I heard evira kernel is good also you could try pixel experience (less customization) , aex or havoc for more customization.

Now AOSP is not really good as you expect. Its smooth but battery is not really better than stock and not all feature is working some hiccup occurs in 3rd party apps

Learn the difference between trash talk and stating facts.
You don't even use custom ROM.
Sure, I also want everybody else to use custom ROMs so they get developed more quickly?
I am surprised that lineageOs has not more vote on this topic. It was a very popular Rom on other devices but I think there is other good competitors on RN7. I will have a look on AospExtended some day as it seems very adopted.
I previously switched to custom rom 'cause I had some issues with MIUI. I don't know if it is always the case but MIUI work smooth with default launcher but when using alternative laucher (for example Nova), I had issues with notifications counter. It seems that MIUI kill apps severly in order to have a good battery life. For me, notification badges was killed also fitness app like Samsung Health or google fit. It was not the case with Mi Fit.
Even if I set the correct property in the app control, it seems that xiaomi apps always have always been managed better like if they have some heigher privilege.
I'm very happy in Stock Global MIUI 10 stable.
Rooted.
Evira Kernel.
FDE.AI Magisk Module.
Underclocked.
Debloated.
Happy about it.
I enjoy visual appearance very much and MIUI is just beautiful to my eyes.
To me:
- Xiaomi.eu is the best if you can't live without the MIUI stuff. It has almost all the best MIUI can offer, removes most privacy issues from stock, and adds more useful features.
- For custom ROMs:
+ I love AOSPExtended since it has just enough customizations to play with. I have it on my RN7 (lavender) and RN4X (mido) and it works perfectly on both. I love the way my 2 phones look and work almost the same.
+ ResurrectionRemix has a crazy amount of customization options. I used to have it on my RN4X. I've never had it on my RN7 but it's a very popular ROM out there.
+ LineageOS is great if you enjoy minimalism. I have it on my ancient phones to keep them light and clean.
You can try different ROMs to see which one fits your needs or you can stay on stock MIUI. You have the choice. Just pay respect to developers as they devote their time and effort to create and improve ROMs.
Cheers! :fingers-crossed:
Syberia.. Just because its battery life.
Agreed to the person before me, always respect the DEV.. Nowdays people tend to ask too much and have lil patience.
So far am going with miui eu global official.Have tried global worldwide official and chinese official and find the eu global the best. Also tried the eu custom rom revolution x aosp extended bootleggers havoc and pixel experience and found aosp extended to be least buggy for me.When it comes to sound and camera especially adding gcam the official miui eu is better but try the roms for yourself and decide.
Is there any noticeable difference between global version number and eu version number?? Or the 10.6.0 and 10.3.3 are the same thing with small differences??

The eu 10.3.3 is a custom rom based on the chinese rom with all the chinese apps debloated.I found it a bit buggy with apps like what's app.You also have the eeu global 10.5.0 which I find the best after trying worldwide global chinese miui and eu custom rom.Eeu global has less adds and is more debloated than worldwide global.Best to try them and decide which suits.
after trying many roms, stock eu is best...some apps not work on custom roms, so stock with evira pure 1.4 kernel is best ?

I'm a bit lost... what the difference between THIS and THIS ?? stable Vs weekly ?? one is for daily use, the second for "tests" builds ?
And what is the EEU version you're talking about ?? i just see the EU version... error typing maybe ?
