Check if the button is damaged or the housing and replace it if one of both is damaged https://www.parts4repair.com/power-button-volume-button-for-motorola-moto-g4/

How to check the housing? I need to open it up?? Thx.

i pulled the "ok" side out and checked the housing from outside but coulnd't find any problem, the holes look the same size to me
but the knobs on the switch looks more or less the same on both sides as well.
any idea??

OK I reversed the button and installed it back and somehow it seems to be OK now. Keep my fingers crossed

Then it seems the keys/ housing are OK if you can't find differences on the pictures.
Just an information: when you quote an answer the quoted one gets informed hence you'll receive answers more quickly

there must be some problem or else the button will not fall out... however it's working now so i'm leaving it as-is.... if it's just the button then it's a relatively easy fix... however if it's the chassis then it may be too $$$ and troublesome to fix, may as well get a new phone these days... i took a look at mi a2 lite bcs it is andrdoid one... however even it's 2-years old it's more or less the same as g4 plus, except for bigger battery.
thx a lot!

Reversing helps for a month. It will eventually fall off.
I suggest to turn on the option for waking up a device with a volume button or you will have a problem one day.
I bought a new one on replacebase.co.uk

TyTN:Temporary Method to deal with LCD Alignment Problem

I don't know why this setting can solve this problem (May be).
Go to
start > Setting > Connection > USB to PC
Step:
1. Uncheck USB to PC
2. Start > Setting > System > Screeen > Calibration the Alignment of Screen
3. Soft Reset.
My friend also use CHT9000 (Taiwan Version) and told me this method. After the above mentioned adjustment, not alignment problem up to this moment.
I also use this method. 2 days gone, no alignment problem was found. I will keep to update this post in the future.
Hope it can help.

There is a thread or two about this on the general side or somewhere.
"Search" will work fine.
I tought it is working but not.
I have contacted with the local HTC/QTEK partner.
Waiting for the official solution.
BR,
Joe
I think that I may have a proper fix. my alignment seemed to be fixed by a rom upgrade but has been getting prgressively worse for a few days. Last night I tried something hardware based. I will test this for two days before I will say what it is but I have had no misalignment issue in the few hours since I did it.
Phil
could you post what you did so even if it doesnt work, we would know?

Ok it hasn't shifted at all today!
I was going to open it up to have a look at the rubber gasket that was mentioned in another post but chickened out!
Optional but probably a good idea; turn off and remove the battery.
1) Slide keyboard out and turn face down.
2) There are 2 tiny screws on the back of the screen that need to be undone. They have thread lock on them so a small crack will be heard as it releases.
3) Once the screws are out a further small crack noise may be heard. That'll be the tension being taken off the screen!
4) Put the screws back in and tighten (or should that be TyTN?). Do not over tighten these as it is only plastic.
5) If necessary realign the screen (hopefully for the last time)
As kind of proof that this has worked, this post was made from my v1605 on hsdpa while I was talking on the phone using bluetooth and got very hot and didn't need any realigning!
Hope it works for others!
Phil
I have the O2 Trion and my screen will be slight misaligned at the right side (cant use the vert scroll bar) . Is this exactly your problem ?
Does your problem happened again, if not could you post some pic/steps on how you did it ?
Thanks

as long as there is no excessive used here, that is what you mean right?

You're correct. Before I did this one screw was clearly at an angle and afterwards it was straight.
If anyone else has success let me know and I'll try to get some photos and do a how-to on the wiki.

i tried this out for my friend and he claims that while it did fix the alignment problem on the right side, sometimes the screen becomes slightly misaligned. could be that i tightened a bit too hard so will look into this.

When I did it for my friend, he claims that the screen, while does not have as serious an alignment problem as before, still has it. Its not that bad.
He notices that the problem usually comes after making a call. No matter how long the call (whether for 1 min or 40 mins), the screen will be slightly mis-aligned and needs to be re-aligned. Things like pressing the 'ENTER' button on the phone pad does not work unless he presses a certain part of the button.
Any advice for him?
low45,
I undone the 2 screws but hear no click or crack and return it back not so tight... is that the correct way... I will monitor mine, since it only happening once a day..
Though I do not hv one but I can inform that it is the bad quality of work..this has been happening to all the recent G4 Wizards and Prophets with SZ series serial number.
I think thehardware design has gone wrong..
Pls check yr serial number..if they start from HT or SZ
i think all the HTC Hermes manufactured are of the HT version
screw no help
ok... after a day.. it happened again...
I just hard reset and did not load the extROM last night... let see ..
me i go back to change it
i have HT630xxxx and no probleme

Camera: macro function working?

Hello, does the macro function (the switch near the lens) really work? I tried several pictures and can't see any difference between normal and macro.
I notice that I can't put the switch fully to the top (to normal mode) but easily full to the bottom (to macro). Maybe it's dispositioned and therefor it doesn't reach the macro function internally?
Works extremely well for me. You are trying to use it in a macro fashion right, ie trying to focus on something say < 15cms away?

This is sheer carelessness from your last repair. There is nothing broken on the camera zoom just that the back has been placed on and the catch on the casing has missed the toggle arm on camera. A simple 20 sec job which you could easily do yourself if it weren't for that VOID sticker. Give your last repairer a good talking to.

If you mean the little sticker on top of the screw next to the camera on the right, this is already broken, by the HTC repairer I assume...
When I unscrew the back (4 screws) then I will be able to repair it myself you think? (first find the appropriate screwdriver).

Yes it's an easy fix as there is nothing broken inside. Get set of phone screwdrivers from maplin or such like. Open phone bottom end first needs just a little bit of easing out as there are pop in connections all around. Tilt bottom edge up and with a bit of judicious wiggling it will pop off!. The problem will be immediately obvious. There is a small "arm" on the camera that fits into the movable macro switch on the case.
Easiest wat I've found to get them to match up is move both lever and and switch toward top of device and place back on by moving it straight down onto phone (not at an angle). Before putting screws in check switch moves fully and in good light you'll actually see lens and black ring moving in an out. Once full screwed up (forgive expression) you may need to press a little on top edge to get case to return fully into position.

Many thanx, it works again!!!
As you said I lifted the bottom, played with the switch and it fell into place!
First I tried to remove the whole cover, but at the cameraside it didn't get off that easy and I was affraid to damage something. But then I solved it without lifted the whole cover. SO I'M VERY HAPPY NOW!!!
(by the way, is there a trick to get the whole cover off? Not that I want to do that at the moment...)

Knew you could do it, congratulations. The back is fiddly, it helps if you have the tool that looks like a flat blade screwdriver with a slightly bend tip - meant for providing a little leverage to pull the case out enough to release the click in clips. A blunt knife could also be used if you want to go down market. Steer clear of a sledgehammer though!

HTC not vibrating anymore

Hello to all,
I have a HTC 3600 with the rom “Karmba_a 7.2 eLiAs EN-20000” for a long time and everything was working great, until last Friday when it stop vibrating as it was suppose to do when receiving a call.
After trying lots of things I decided to reflash it. And it’s still the same, does not vibrate.
Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?
Thanks in advance

How can see bord to see if there is humidity? Does not look like a easy operation.

it may cause of the loosen screw which stick the vibrator with the phone. I have this happen before, you can try open the case and screw it back or take to some repair shop.

Thank you enduromen and ctrlaltdel.
Well, I'm having the same problem again, sometimes vibrate, sometimes don't.
And I can hear something loose inside the phone maybe it's the screw that stick the vibrating motor.
Can anyone tell me if there is a tutorial for opening the phone and check that out?
Thanks in advance

unscrew (inside trinity 1.jpg; screw circled with red) and open the cover, then you will see the vibrator and the screw that stick the virbator with the MB (inside trinity 2.jpg; circle with red). Screw it back and done.

Thanks for the suggestion
I've tried flashing a new rom, as well as trying a different headset... same deal
(I however haven't tried if those headsets work with other phones... so I'll try to do that next to make sure I'm not unlucky to the point where both mics dead)
Had a similar problem today--erratic vibrating and occasional strange noises. Thought it was the ROM that I had just reflashed but thankfully stumbled onto this thread - it was the very loose screw! Thanks for the advice.
Just to add a little levity, here's a solution that you probably didn't think of and most likely wouldn't have thought you needed. But... it's a funny idea, nonetheless...

One word of warning: There's also another screw under the stylus. Don't forget that one when you dissasemble or it might break.

The tool needed can be bought at most electronics stores, ie: Radio Shack, etc...
It is a #6 Torx driver. Also called T6 Might find it at Auto Parts store, but not sure, it's pretty small...
It seems the stopped vibration is almost always the loose screw. Mine fell completely out and was wedged against the vibrating motor, stopping it's rotation. After the phone was open, it was an easy fix.

Touch screen not working

Hey guys, I have been so much frustrated about my htc topaz....till now it is working perfectly. Since yesterday all of a sudden touch screen stops working...with ballooning effect on screen ...previously ballooning effect was noticed before 3-4 days, but i did not pay attention on it as touch screen working at that time..
What may be the probable cause is it digitizer or lcd screen gone?
I have uploaded the pictures also..
That's the Chinese Diamond2?
If so I have the same problem with a Chinese phone... There is a part of the screen that's not working fine (like a balloon on the left side of the screen). I have to press really hard and press more to the side than it should be
I've already considered in opening the phone to try to solve the problem.
Does anyone already opened his phone with success? Any pictures available to help the task?
indresh88, sorry to use your topic but I think we both need the same...
I had the same problem, is very usual in this phone. the tecnical changed the screen.

no definately not...it's factory unlocked asian version...also it is t5353 and official stock rom.
by the way how can we differentiate between chinese and factory unlock phone?
have you solve your problem?
Hi, use some standard scotch tape or tesa film. Stick it over the affected area and peel the tape off. This should unstick the digitizer again, it did the job for me quite often...

I have the T5388i dual sim.
I'm no expert on those phones, but I think an easy way to know if the phone is HTC or Chinese version is the front camera side (on HTC is on the right and on the replica is on the left)
Other simple way is if it's dual sim than it's not from HTC.
If I'm telling some mistakes please someone correct me.
Concerning the problem... it's not solved

it helped me quite good and temporery, but how to fix it permanently...?
replace the touch screen digitizer.
eBay have many of them...
I have replaced my cracked one last month.
Two fixes for the scotch tape issue
1. Always take along some scotch tape or
2. Replace the digitizer. This can be done faily easily, see some other posts.
Cheers
I've looked at ebay for the digitizer and I've found many... the question is if they work on my phone?
I have a DUAL SIM T5388i, can anyone point me the right digitizer?
I've tried the tape but didn't worked I don't know if I'm doing it right because I've noticed no diference.
Help me!
I also have this problem, It just stopped working. I was calling, 10 minutes later when i took my phone and tried to unlock it, it did nothing, when i connect my phone in windows 7 with mobile center, I installed SOTI pocket controller, to check if it was my screen, and it was because via pocketcontroller it worked good, but how do i have to replace the screen thing, and how does it work with the tape,,
Thanks
i also had the same problem. if im not mistaken it might be due to humidity ...
i might be wrong
is there any way to fix this without replacing digitizer.
by the way i have a TD2 t5353 htc original .
Workign Solution Till Now
Hello Friends,
I have TD2 mobile and today I had same issue. I was thinking it was because of the weather or some.
I remember it did happend several time before, but when I restart the device several time it does work. So I was ignoring.... But today it did not work.. looks like going toward end... So I did soft and hard reset without and that did not helped me.
So I switched off the mobile, "heated" the touch screen gently with my hand for 1 min and started the mobile again and it worked for me .
Not sure if this is a solution, but will work.
May be I will contact Service Center here in Hyderbad and see what is wrong here?
Hope this will help you all...
Thanks.

Power button is broken

My J5 (2015)'s power button doesn't work anymore. What should i do? What part i've to replace to fix it??
Broken?
Or is it just not working?
If not working, then keep pressing it repeatedly like a hundred times.Maybe it is a dust or dirt related issue.Doing this will solve it.
If you have a cleaner spray(I hope you get what i mean),Put a couple of small drops in it carefully and repeat the above procedure. It should slove the problem. If not then you have to dissasemble your phone and reheat/resold or change the whole button.
