Hi there,
I'm on OxygenOS 5.1.5, I've not rooted my device. But I'm having issues with my bluetooth.
Both with my watch and bullets wireless keep dropping signal.
With my Mac or iPad the bullets work fine, no drops until I'm 10m away.
In a chat with Oneplus they told me to wipe my device, factory reset.
I told them that's not going to solve the issue and I'm definitely not going to do that.
Is this a hardware issue or could it be solved by switching firmware/firmware update?
Has anyone experienced the same?
Kind regards,
Coen
Hey!
The reason why they want you to wipe the device is to rule out software related things. There's no better way to do this. You can try disabling apps, and check settings manually, but that's going to take a lot of effort and time, and honestly, not effective at all.
If you do what they say, and wipe the device, you'll find out if some app or settings was the cause of the problem, or some hardware related issue in your phone, in which case you should send your device to them, and they'll repair or replace it.
In my case, when I have some trouble with my phone, I backup all my data, and wipe the phone, to see if it was some rogue app, or setting which caused the problem, if not, I'll then contact the customer support for repairment.

I don't have any apps tempering with the audio. Something which can also be tested in safe mode.
Eventually they offered to look at my phone, however I can't miss my phone because of work,
I found that the audio quality wasn't good enough, to go through the hassle. So I'll be sending the bullets back.
Cabled just sounds a lot better, but these ones in particular had a lot ground noise as well.
I would try mine to be sure but the only Bluetooth audio device I had I think I threw out because I got a Chromecast audio (which I believe works completely through WiFi.
I can't remember if I ever used the OnePlus 5 with any Bluetooth audio device. I definitely prefer cables. My next phone will be a used OnePlus 6 since it's the last one with a headphone jack.
I have the exact same issue after upgrading to the 5.1.6. 5.1.5 was fine but i only used it for like a week. But since going to .6 my car, watch, and headphones all keep having BT issues. Im not sure if i can even revert to my backup of 5.1.5 since .6 added trebble?

I have exact problem. No issue on 5.1.5 and highly unstable Bluetooth on 5.1.6
Is it OK to downgrade to 5.1.5 dirty flash from 5.1.6?

So i just restored a 5.1.5 backup that i took and it went without a hitch. That anecdotally leads me to believe that there should be no issues going back to 5.1.5 from .6, at least in regards to being worried about background changes via Treble. Just take a backup to be safe
I was not having any Bluetooth problems on Oneplus 5 running Oxygen OS Oreo (5.1.5) but had major issues (unstable Bluetooth) when I upgraded to 5.1.6
I dirty flashed 5.1.5 again and all issues gone. Now the Bluetooth is connecting well to my car and stays connected. I thought of writing this so it might help someone.
Victory - 5.1.7 has arrived with Bluetooth Hotfix.
Has anyone updated straight from 5.1.5 to 5.1.7 (or do we need to go via 5.1.6)?
I'm on 5.1.7 and still the OP5 turns Bluetooth frequently off and on again, when connected to the car. Other Bluetooth connections are stable.

For me OxygenOS 9.0.0 did solve the issue.

Anybody else having problems with keeping Bluetooth audio working after the DI07 update?
I'm on a replacement phone and my A2DP headset seems to lose sound after a while of inactivity and needs to be re-paired. The previous phone was on DG27 and didn't have this issue, so I'm guessing the update had something to do with it.

I have noticed this also. Cuts out during calls also.
Yep have this problem as well. Very very annoying.

Crap, guess that justifies trying an overclocked DG27 kernel to see if it fixes the issue. Not like GPS was resolved with the update anyway.
I also have the problem. Hope it gets addressed soon.

Flashing a rooted kernel didn't help, I think it's the DI07 baseband that's screwing up. May revert to DG27 stock later to see what happens.

I'm still running DG27 and this issue is present here also. Except when I was running DI07, I would also get soft re-boots while connecting or disconnecting to and from Bluetooth devices.
Restored to stock DG27, applied one-click ClockworkMod and flashed Mixup kernel. So far things seem stable unless I start restoring the system and data images from my DI07 Nandroid backup.
I'm going to test my user apps one at a time to see if any of them was affecting the Bluetooth audio, however unlikely that may be.
EDIT: Looks like stock DG27 solved it, music apps are all running fine.
Has anyone with this problem tried upgrading to DI18 to see if Bluetooth is fixed? I'm a little hesitant to try now that I've got everything working again.
I am running D118 with MixUp nonvodoo kernel. I just install a bt headunit tonight and tried bt audio. I have audio drop out but I also restored apps and data with Titanium Backup. I dont't know if that makes any difference. I tried a call with bt and that seemed fine.
NEXUS 4,ANDROID 4.4 16S & 16O,Plantronics savor M1100 bluetooth headset or jabra bluetooth headset.Often disconnected during a call.Very high frequency,But 4.3 have not problem.What is the problem?
Find a temporary solution, as long as open WIFI, Bluetooth will be disconnected, closed WIFI, Bluetooth never broken! Currently only so used!
Final, to find a solution, just need to turn off WIFI 5G. Settings - WIFI - Advanced - Wi-Fi frequency band - 2.4GHz only ,ALL OK
Please don't use such a large text size, it's kinda annoying.
I will second you on the Bluetooth issue. I've noticed it with my car, where I usually spend some time on a call or two. It seems intermittent for me, usually starting after about 1 minute and then randomly disconnecting. Either the phone or the car BT will then reconnect, but it'll disconnect again within one to two minutes. Music streaming isn't affected by dropouts, but I have noticed some minor issues with it, such as stuttering.

I also have the same issue after 4.4 install. Using Nexus 4. I have contacted google, and as expected they can't help!
Sound is very crackly when making calls from my car.. :crying:
Well, let's see if we can't collectively determine what the problem is and at the least submit a good bug report to Google. The first thing I'm going to do is try to reproduce the issue with a standard bluetooth headset. If the problems happens there, I'll then run adb logcat and see if I can grab a log of any error messages.
I encourage anyone else having this problem to do the same and report back on this topic.
Also, to see if it's isolated to specific cars or something, I experience the issue with a 2011 Mazda 3. What is everyone else using?

Also, to get some extra data, please indicate if you upgraded via official OTA, factory image, or some other method. Also, please say if you did a factory reset or if you did not.
In my case, I saw this using the old 16O factory image (no reset) and also with the 16S OTA from 66Y (4.3), no reset again.
Also worth noting if you have WiFi on and if it's pulling data at the same time...

In the car I don't get any problems with quality and/or stuttering, but the BT volume control doesn't seem to work
Also, the 'volume' sent to my car is very low, causing me to control the volume by the car (and putting it very loud)
I didn't try it with a call yet, just music, I'm going to try a call when I get the chance
Here, I'm using the factory image KRT16O, did a clean flash, and the car is a 2013 ford focus
I had the same problem on 4.4 ROMs that don't have the proper Nexus 4 libraries. I switched ROMs, and my problem is gone.

Volume seems to still be independent between the headset and the phone. When in a call, use the phone volume keys to raise the volume to near max (I usually put it two presses down from max) and use the car/headset volume to further adjust as needed. Same way with music.

That would be a good option except some people will actually want to be on stock. I would hope Google has the proper libraries for the stock KRT16S factory images and OTA files.

Yes, thats how it is supposed to work, but I actually can't control the volume at the device at all
Leaving it in the max or the minimum sends the same volume to the car, and its very low

I am using TMo OTA image on a Nexus 4. Was rock solid on car connection (Nissan Leaf) until 4.4. My wife's Samsung Galaxy S3 is not on 4.4 and still works great. Problem for me is exactly as described earlier, 1-2 minutes connected then intermittently cutting out so bad it is unusable as a bluetooth connection. Show stopper.
Tested today using a Morotola Elite Flip BT headset and also with my car (while hooked up and logging via adb) while in the garage. I could not reproduce the issue after over 10 minutes of talk. We'll see how it does on an actual drive tomorrow.

Yep, that's what I was seeing. Hopefully someone will be able to get to the bottom of this. If you don't mind taking a laptop into your car, try using it while stationary and grabbing the log output from adb. If the issue occurs, there might be something in the log that can help diagnose the problem.

Same problem here. Never had it on 4.3. Currently solved it by using old (from 4.3) bootloader and 0.84 radio.
Took this tip from other thread on XDA.
I also disable wifi when on call (using tasker) - but this along do not solve the disconnect/connect issue. However, this will fix the
call interference in the first 5-10 sec of the call.
Can somehow bootloader and/or radio affect this issue ?
BTW, on 4.4 I finally have stable 5 GHz WiFi connection. So Google definetly fixed something in WiFi code which can now create an issue with the Bluetooth.
Nexus 4 - 4.4
I also experience the stutter when listening to bluetooth headphones, only since the update, 4.3 worked beautifully. It stutters any time I unlock the phone or lock it, very annoying. I'm using Bludio R's, although from what I've read most people are experiencing it regardless of BT type.
Edit: For anyone else experiencing the stuttering; I found a link on the google support where someone else had this issue. Someone mentioned it went away if you turn the screen lock sound off. Haven't had a chance to test as I have no BT headsets in the office, but thought I'd share.
Up for all
I'm New to the forums here everyone.
Greetings!
I'm running NRD90U but I'm experiencing some issues with the recent radio update that came with nougat on Verizon. I've searched everywhere on the xda forums and found suggestions to others experiencing similar issues (simultaneous voice and data). With the 03.61 radio, everything worked just fine whereas with 03.72 I have to toggle airplane mode after every reboot in order to have simultaneous voice and data. I have performed all of the suggested things to no avail. HD voice is enabled on my line and I've tried taking it off and putting it back on. Enhanced LTE is set to on and I've toggled that. I've factory data reset. I've wiped cache. I've Tested SIM in another Verizon device and it works fine. I've Put another Verizon SIM in my device and still have the issue. I even gotten a new replacement device. I've sideloaded OTAs. I've flashed factory images. I've literally tried everything suggested here.
All said, I'm wondering if it's possible to flash the older 03.61 radio while keeping everything otherwise the same on my phone with stock Nougat-NRD90U.
I would appreciate input.
Thanks.

If you are bootloader unlocked, you can fastboot flash any radio.img you want. If you are not bootloader unlocked, no you can't. The radio.img is universal btw, not specific to a carrier.
Edit: the guide below will help you unlock the bootloader and learn fastboot if you are unfamiliar.

Thanks. I will do that. I appreciate the help.
Is this a problem for other Verizon users too? If so, I just won't upgrade the radio firmware on mine either.
I would highly suspect that the problem is for everybody on Verizon especially since I replaced my device and did all this SIM card changes and things. It is very unnoticeable in that the only time you experience it or see it is if you are making a call on the new nougat radio 03.72, you will see the LTE icon disappear as soon as you make your call, regardless of whether you are on an 'HD call' or not. If you are on the older radio 03.61 that is on marshmallow, then you never experience that problem, ever, ever. Everything is perfect with that "radio." I've done a lot of testing on it, as I said, up to replacing my device, all to no avail. unless using 03.61 which is again, perfect. I wouldn't change if you can avoid it. If you do get the nougat radio though (03.72), it's a nuisance because after the majority of reboots overall, you will come up with everything normal-'looking' with the LTE icon there but when trying to make a call it will disappear and you'll have an exclamation point there until you hang up from the call and LTE comes right back. (unless you're on wifi off course in which case none of this apples). The solution if you find yourself with the 03.72 nougat radio with this happening, is to toggle airplane mode and then you're good to go until the next time you have to reboot. I always check afterwards by calling voicemail to make sure the LTE icon stays while on the call. It will disappear immediately.
I'm going to assume there is some sort of an "initial-boot-handshake" that's not taking place correctly, but DOES communicate correctly coming out of airplane mode when the device is already booted.
Regards
Edit: This may be a regional VZW issue and not a phone or baseband issue.
Verizon has had issues where I live for more than a week.
I live in Northern Ca and they just sorted things out.
Funny, I flashed the Nougat radio on top of 6.x to see if my issue was fixed.
It's not the radio. Mine is finally stable. Not sure what VZW did.

Everything was working fine on mine with the marshmallow radio. I didn't have an issue until I updated to nougat.
Hearing what happened with yours makes me think that it's a regional Verizon thing. Hopefully they will fix soon. I'm not holding my breath because it's been about a month here in Central Kentucky
I'm glad yours is working now man.
Cheers!
I'm having a similar problem for the last couple days after flashing the latest update. I may try stepping back to the older radio to see if that fixes my problem. I just hope it doesn't affect my bluetooth, as that's finally working fine again.

Best of luck. Let us know how it goes if you get the chance. Thanks!
Holy crap, I thought it was just me! I did the exact same things (minus an RMA) as the OP to fix the issue with no luck, even downgrading to MTC20F and upgrading to MTC20L and finally Nougat, just to make sure something wasn't getting jacked in the flashing process. I spent an hour on the phone last night w/ a tier 2 tech guys from Verizon and the only issue he could see was that my PRL had an update for my SIM which should happen automatically. He pushed it through from their end but it didn't fix the issue. Normally I don't care about browsing/downloading when I'm on the phone since I hate talking on the phone and get off as soon as possible but it causes another problem which is not acceptable: if I am browsing chrome or doing anything with data, incoming calls go straight to voicemail. Tried switching the phone from "global" to "LTE/CDMA" with no luck-a reboot always kills simultaneous voice and data. I can rule out this being a Verizon issue on my end as when I flashed the MM images to update via OTA this morning, all worked perfectly fine.
Edit: I have called multiple people in my area that are on VZW after having them reboot their phones and all of them maintained simultaneous voice and data. I think it is safe to state that this issue is software/device specific.

I have done and agree with what you said - other devices(non NEXUS 6p) work fine and 6p works fine on marshmallow. However, tech_head posted above that his I'd all good now and that it was a Verizon issue. I'm not sure where you live but based on tech_head's post, I can't rule out VZW as the problem. One thing is for sure it is an issue here in Central Kentucky on the two NEXUS 6ps that I have had and tried EVERYTHING, like you, on both of them to no avail without marshmallow radio. I haven't tried flashing marshmallow radio on top of nougat. I may just wait and see if VZW or Google work something out to fix it soon with a possible update. Not holding my breath but I believe it will eventually get fixed in the future, OFFICIALLY.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the radio is independent of the OS version, so why not take 1 or 2 minutes and flash an earlier radio? There is a radio / modem repository thread on XDA with all versions you can just grab and try out. Literally takes less than a minute and if you don't like the results, then just flash it right back. I use Fastboot, but TWRP, FF, NRT, etc. all work equally well. You may also post what you find under "Phone Settings" when typing " *#*#4636#*#* " into the dialer. Report back on your findings.
Here are the screenshot links for my phone settings.

No problem bud! I haven't flashed another radio yet either. I will report back after I test a few more things.
Has anyone determined the cause of the problem? Was it the radio firmware after all? There seem to be conflicting answers here.

It is still kind of up in the air. What I do know is that there is a software incompatibility somewhere within nougat here in Lexington, KY, at least. I assume it's the radio software but I'm not certain. I'm not bootloader unlocked at this point so I haven't yet tried to flash marshmallow radio on to stock nougat. I will probably try this in a few days when I have the time to deal with the factory reset it involves. Please refer back to the original post for questions about my reasoning.
It's quite interesting, the problem, as everything with stock nougat - voice and data-wise, works just like marshmallow after I toggle airplane mode after reboot. With marshmallow, it just worked. Very weird. But given I can just toggle airplane mode 1 time for every time I boot, it's just a slight nuisance. Once I toggle airplane mode, everything is good just like marshmallow, as if nothing was ever wrong. It could be something about the boot sequence. It's very interesting. I'm open to ideas at this point.
Thanks.
My 2¢
When i was on 6.0.1 didn't have and issue with radio. i flashed the 7.0 radio while still on 6.0.1, still no issues.
Then i flashed 7.0 OS and that's when the issue started and it was only affecting upload speed download was great. Then i flashed the last radio from 6.0.1 and the issue went away.
P.S.
the data going off during a call is VZW. i had to call to have them fix this even before 7.0 they dont like the fact that we are using a non vzw branded cell.
I'm back on 6.0.1, never signed on to be a beta tester for 7.0?. These days its about profit and quantity and the hell with quality

My 2¢
When i was on 6.0.1 didn't have and issue with radio. i flashed the 7.0 radio while still on 6.0.1, still no issues.
Then i flashed 7.0 OS and that's when the issue started and it was only affecting upload speed download was great. Then i flashed the last radio from 6.0.1 and the issue went away.
P.S.

I appreciate your input. It doesn't sound like our issues are quite the same. I'm not sure though.
What is it that Verizon did for you. That may be the answer to my problems.
Thanks. Best Regsrds.
Got my 128 GB OP5 last night and it has been randomly rebooting on me while doing random things. I am trying to figure out a root cause and factory reset the phone again to see if I could figure it out as well but it seems to happen from doing anything as simple as pulling down the notification bar to activating Google assistant or just scrolling through my settings. Nothing seems to be repeatable as it happens intermittently. Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and may have figured out what caused it otherwise I guess I'd have to order a replacement
No, works fine here.
i dont have OP5 yet so no reboots
No reboot until now but i can't pair any bluetooth device (Sony Smartwatch 3 and Jabra Motion Headset)
Mine hasn't done it yet but the wifi performance is abysmal, random pauses when transferring files, Facebook stopped while trying to set it up.
I have been using the phone since yesterday morning and haven't had any issues at all, not a single bit of lag, no apps crashing or anything. If a reset didn't help it that means it must be hardware problem. I would return it and get a replacement.
Yes, performance seems bad. Had a few reboots and WiFi download speeds are awful.

I've successfully paired a bluetooth keyboard with trackpad and a Wahoo Tickr HRM and both seem to work fine. The Wahoo seemed more difficult to connect but that may have been just operator error. I've not had any lock ups/reboots at all but haven't had the OP5 24 hours yet.

Quite the opposite for me as the WiFi is stellar and the 5Ghz speeds far outstrip the Nexus 5 this OP5 has replaced.
Haven't had any such issue on mine yet in Canada (8GB/128GB) *fingers crossed*

I've had the same as you -- Bluetooth Pebble & Car & Headphones have all worked amazing (including using AptX HD), and my WiFi speeds have been stellar (>50MBps download (Yes, MBps, not mbps)). My WiFi has not been cutting out in the corners of my house either, unlike my old phones and even laptop!

Yes, it's an issue for me. I've been in touch with OP Bug Hunter staff, and gave them the logs they requested to pass along to engineering to figure out why.
Yeah it kept rebooting on me even today so just got off the phone with OnePlus and an RMA has been created for a replacement device to be sent. Hopefully the next one isn't a problem, I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.
Umm had phone since Sunday not had any issues but today while on a call the phone rebooted it's self and again 20 minutes later just on home screen , I'm stock latest build , bought from O2 store should I take it back and ask for replacement while within my 14 days ??

Mines fine no issues build date 13th June
My phone is back with oneplus now so according to them should have a new one within the next week. Good thing I didn't sell my oneplus 3 just yet
I had two random reboots today and one random shutdown.
All these happened in my pocket and i realized the reboots due to vibration from reboot.
And one time I pulled it out of my pocket it was turned off.
Hi,
Got my phone Yesterday.
Started seeing random reboots today. Running latest version. I also did an factory reset of the device after I upgraded to latest version..
Any way I can troubleshoot this? Could an app be causing something like this? I do suspect that this started after installing Snapchat.. But I'm not sure..

I'm getting random reboots about every other day or so. Would this be indicative of a software issue versus hardware? I figure if this many people are having issues, but many are not, the hardware may not be a problem? This is my first OP device, so I'm just guessing. Hoping if it IS a software issue they can release an update soon!

Just got back from O2 store replaced with new device although it's the same manufacture date as one with issue 6/6/17 so far ok but it's only been on couple hrs so to soon to say, I'm convinced it was since 4.5.3 update as didn't do it before update but while i was in my 14 day return thought replace it anyway , I did contact 1+ before hand to ask if it's software or hardware all I got in reply was !! We will need proof of purchase to continue replacement procedure , that made alarm bells ring so hence straight back to O2 as it's far quicker than retuning to 1+ , I'm currently on 4.5.0 and not keen on updating ?

Hello Everyone. Coming back to XDA-Developers after many years as I have (2) problems that I cannot seem to fix on my OnePlus 6T. Would greatly appreciate help/input.
Purchased the phone on release day. My Phone is Un rooted and on Stock Software on OOS 9.0.17. Here are the current issues:
1. Google Play Store will NOT download/update apps if the Google App is Enabled - Downloads hang at 99%-100%.
Things Ive Tried:
- Clear Cache for App
- Downgrade App Version
- Reboot Phone
- Clear Phone Cache
- Wiped Phone
- Downloaded Official OOS Full Rom 9.0.17 and Re flashed, Wiped Data/Cache after flash (At this point.. Wtf!?)
Nothing at all I have done has had a change on this issue. The Only thing I can do is Disable the Google App. Even on a Fresh Reinstall of 9.0.17, with a full wipe, after configuring the google acct. It will NOT download any apps from Play store on setup unless I disable the google app. It even updates the google app at some point, which re-enables and the downloads stop. Playing around with it, when you disable, downloads start right up. Enabling it will put all downloads at a halt. I wiped my phone multiple times, even trying not to restore my backup and just starting fresh with my google account signed in - yielded no change.
2. Notifications - I have the Delayed/Inconsistent notifications bug. Its driving me absolutely crazy. The notifications are inconsistent and sometimes they work fine. Sometimes heavily delayed, sometimes immediate. Sometimes I will continue to receive the same notification over and over throughout the day despite dismissing the notification. On reading threads here, It seems that running a script when the phone is booted to disable deep and light idle is the only solution... Really?? I have not done this yet, because I frankly find it ridiculous and if this is what I need to do to get notifications, Im probably just going to go buy a new phone, because that's absurd. There has to be another way..
Things I've Tried:
- Set App to "Don't Optimize"
- Deep Optimization and Sleep Standby Turned off
- Adaptive Battery Turned off
- Clear Cache
- Wiped Phone
- Downloaded Official OOS Full Rom 9.0.17 and Re flashed, Wiped Data/Cache after flash (Again, wtf?)
I expected a Wipe to fix an issue like this but like the issue above, as soon as the wipe and even after I re flashed the phone, the problem was present immediately. This started happening after a software update for me. Otherwise the phone was rock solid for the first 8 months of ownership.
At this point, I'm at a total loss. It was a fantastic phone that I loved using very much. About 8 Months in, after a software update, these bugs started popping up along with some reduced battery life. I bought this phone with the expectation that it would JUST WORK. But these problems I've been having I cannot seem to get a fix or proper solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been searching around a lot with no real solution thus far. Any help/input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, looking forward to hearing what anyone has to say!
quick question: are you using t-mobile stock rom or did you convert it into the international version?
---------- Post added at 03:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 PM ----------
the reason why I asking this is because I found that when T-Mobile plugs "their stuff" in, things lag. As much as I like t-mobile as my carrier, I feel that they "cripple" the phone with their stock rom.
I have the unlocked international version which I bought from OnePlus.

Have you tried format data rather than wipe data? This has worked for me in the past.
Can you do that with stock recovery? I didn't remember seeing that as an option.
Also, wouldn't re-flashing the currently loaded rom have the same effect?
