that error means that your device is in "binary 1", and you are trying to install a binary 0, so make sure you have the latest firmware.
Try unchecking "BL" in Odin and then flash.
this occurred to me after flashing LineageOS 15.1 and getting Root from stock Oreo 8.0.

Hi,
I encountered error during flashing of XXUGNG4 official firmware using odin 3.09. It did not completed successfully. I have tried to change usb port but still got the same error. I managed to flash the custom recovery and restore my previous rom backup but got a warning 'kernel is not seandroid enforcing' and when my phone boot my camera and sound (volume, etc) is not working.
Question: Can I flashed XXUGNG4 official firmware even if my custom rom is XXUGNG8? I really need to go back to stock official firmware in order to fix the problems I encountering on camera and sound
Really need your help...
Thanks

Hi,
You cannot flash an older version of your firmware without encountering problems.
You need to flash XXUGNG8 or later.
Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
Don't forget to wipe data and cache before and after flashing the firmware

I will try to download the XXUGNG8 firmware and hopefully it will fixed my problems and back to official firmware.
My Galaxy S7 will not boot to anything but recovery mode. I have tried the Return to Stock section of this guide, but Odin 3.12 gives me an "auth error" which says "Fused 4 > Binary 2" on the phone. The PrinceComsy version, meanwhile, gives me a "model dismatch fail" error. Is there any hope that I can reflash my phone back to stock?

Need more info about your phone. Firmware that is on the phone, firmware your trying to flash. What were you doing when all this happened.

Never mind, I got it fixed. I was trying to flash the G930AUCS2APF2 firmware, but the phone rejected it because it was a downgrade. I just flashed the G930AUCS4APK1 version, and it flashes and boots just fine. Sorry for not providing enough information; I'm new to flashing phones, so I was unaware about the downgrade. Thanks anyway!
hello fellow users, Im in desperate need of assistance, I been trying to restore/update my phone to the latest or using odin 3.12 but everytime I put the .Md5 on the AP section it says passed phone reboot to recovery I get a screen with a circle that says erasing, then I get into recovery to be greeted with this :
no Support SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3
dm-verity error...
I tried using the same buid QC1 and even the latest QF6, with the same results, Im tryin to start fresh I was rooted but I had massive battery drain and phone getting hot without use, so I been trying to restore without luck... anyone out here that can shed some light?
If you are using the "official" odin, try switching to the comey version (there should be download link in the rooting thread). Make sure you are downloading the correct firmware. If that doesn't work, you can load up smartswitch and click "Emergency Firmware Reinstall" or something along that line.

I don't know your device really well but that error means your flashing older firmware to your device than what you had on it. As in downgrading. Find a newer firmware and try in Odin 3.13
It's telling you that your device is 3 and your flashing binary 1 or 2
Use updato .com to download a recent firmware and use a stable version of odin (3.12/3.13), most recent versions of odin can cause problems
So I tried rooting my S5e following the "system-as-root" part of the original magisk installation instructions (https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root), but odin stops short from being finished with "FAILED", and my tablet tells me: "SECURITY CHECK FAILED : modem"
How do I recover from this? Flash an unmodified firmware using odin?
Cheers

solved!
flashed the latest firmware which I downloaded with frija, then went through the process again but before flashing magisk_patched.tar I removed all the extra files from it as described in https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/how-to/galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t720-root-t3947806, now it works and is rooted.

1 you have to get the right CSC for your device e.g. XFA
Once I also downloaded a strange ROM. It had file dates (inside the zip) months older than the patches or update level it was supposed to have. In this case I waited several days and got a ROM with dates that made sense and flashed without the error.
2 ??? flash did not go well -> seems to me you are technically on stock which means no root
If you succeed to flash the Magisk patched AP file then you have to reboot to recovery to actually activate Magisk root.
