Joying JY-VO130P4, - Android Head-Units

Anyone been ordering this model lately?
Octa Core 4GB PX5 2 Din Android 8.0
Im in contact with seller telling me everything is fine and if any problem, they will pay return fee
I´ve been reading about different problem on the Joying models, but maybe this one are good now?
My thought is to use this unit in my 2009 Tiguan 2.0TDI and I want everything to work, but maybe there are other Android units that is better?
Looking forward to hear what other users say - thank you.
Frank.

Been using this unit since July 2018 in My Golf MK6. unfortunately the firmware updates stopped after November but so far the unit has been working very well for me. Joying support has also been helpful to me.
Wish the phone UI was a bit better though, It's too intrusive on the display.

Joying 2G (JY-UL128N2 or JY-UL135N2) or going for the new Dasaita PX5 based (HA2153)

Hi,
I've been reading this forum for the last few weeks to get educated regarding the leading Andoird HU out there (there are so many of them...), and I came to the conclusion that the leading options are the 2G Joying units - in terms of experience, accumulated knowledge here in the forum and performance (Prefer proved and tested to new and latest) and . I'm still not sure should I go for the touch version of the physical buttons one (your thoughts are welcome)? In addition, there is the very new Dasaita that looks very serious, but I did not see a lot of people with it, so I don't know how good it is... I also looked at the ownice C500, but I saw there there are some issues, thought to stick with the options above.
Your thoughts will be very much appreciated, the car will arrive next week and I want to take advantage of the 10-8% discount for Valentines day
Joying are saying their new octacore (guessing PX5) units will be launched in March so might be worth waiting a month to see if they are any good or get an Intel unit cheaper if not. Joying discounts seem to come round quite often so I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry just for that.
Thanks WILD9. My question is if the new systems are stable at the get go from your experience? I mean would you purchase the first iteration of a new line of product (I can wait for a month with the existing system I guess...) or is it better to wait a few months so Joying will "iron out" any first release glitchs? (in that case I prefer to buy previous generation than wait for additional 6 months) or maybe any other new fixes are SW only? I just don't have the mileage with those systems.
If first iterations are good, maybe go for the Dasaita (hotaudio) PX5 unit?
No more thoughts?...
Hard to say, Joying seem to have a reasonable track record recently but as with most of the Chinese products they don't tend to be too intensively tested before launch, if solid proven performance is a priority then I'd say the Joying Intel Sofia units should be top of your list.
Thanks WILD, I ordered the Joying 2G
I bought the 2G a couple of days ago. Had an Erisin MTCD before. This feels like a next-gen product compared to that. The speed difference is yuuge as a certain president would say. No custom roms or Xposed yet, but it's early days still. Very happy so far.

Skyshadow octa core?

Hi everyone,
I have been reading threads about those android head units for a while and I plan on buying an ownice c500 for my old mercedes w203.
That being said I prefer to wait for an octa core. Ownice's 8 core hu should be out by the end of march at best and price tag will be about 450 euros for the version I want.
What do you guys think of that Skyshadow brand and of their android hu?
Price is decent and so are specs soc is probably an rk3368?

anyone?
If that's truly an exact duplicate of the ownice C500 (I don't see details about the 4G sim, specifically), it's substantially cheaper. Very interested

It's indeed cheaper but I never heard of those hu's so I don't know what to think.

Have just ordered this one after much mucking around on here, EBay, Aliexpress
I wanted these specs or 64gb.. Didn't want to wait for it.. Was seemingly good value, seems they do no social media marketing at all and are fairly unknown.. But produce a lot, seems popular in Russia?
From what I've gathered so far, it's an MTCD unit with a PX5. More than likely pretty close to the Ownice units, though there might be some difference in the amplifier and radio/Bluetooth chips

well, we shall see, the seller has been quite helpful so far, hoping for root and eventual custom roms..

Nice feel free to give some feedback when u got your headunit, seems very nice though
YAY! AliExpress finally sent me a notification to say it's shipped, it's been a long wait since I ordered it, though he's been responding to messages, perhaps he has no backup inventory and buys as he goes or something?
so ordered the head unit, DAB+ tuner, OBD2 dongle, wireless video transmitter, little dome camera (found another that may fit tail light so might use this as a front PVR if all goes to plan?)
am vaguely interested in getting a DVB tuner but probably won't..
hoping that with the ISO connection cable to Honda Jazz/Fit connector I ordered separately it will be relatively plug and play like the speaker adapters I bought..
I've ordered this one from skyshadow

hello I have ina Skyshadow Px6 with Android 9 and dsp installed on Jeep Wrangler with amplifier, every now and then no audio is heard, I have to turn off the radio and radio to listen to the audio, what can it be? thanks

Time to upgrade, thoughts?

Hey everyone,
I've had an AN-21 U for 3 years, and it's time to upgrade. I was wondering if anyone had any input on the "best" head unit out nowadays? I'll need the normal car stuff, GPS, WIFI, USB, fast (quad core I'd assume), OBD2 ( I currently have USB, but I can goto BT), capacitive touch, etc. I don't need DVD or anything else on the front, I'll just USB for everything.
Thanks for the input, I REALLY look forward to seeing how much better these have gotten in the last 3 years.
If you Google search hotaudio dasaita, this unit just release early this month and comes with universal modal and few vehicle specialized modal
I think current trend is MTCD unit with PX5 CPU + 2GB or Intel Sofia CPU + 2GB
In exact same boat as OP.
My AN21u still serves its purpose, but I suspect any of the current generation should noticeably outperform it.
I'm leaning towards the Joying 2GB Sofia models simply because after catching up on these forums for the past few days, it just seems like the most solid and popular.
That being said, the only thing that is holding me back is talk of octa-core units that should be a step up, but so far there doesn't seem to be anything that stands out.
I think I saw mention that Joying will be putting out an octa-core soon, but does anyone have solid information on that?

Have had my new Joying 2GB installed for a couple days now and it's indeed night and day compared to the AN-21 U. There is some tinkering involved, like getting voice calling to work, but the snappiness and increased functionality are substantial. Also, as you can see, the support for this model on these forums is outstanding. I also got $120 for my AN-21 U which I wasn't expecting.
I think right now there are only two options: a PX5 or an Intel Sofia unit.
Awesome thanks for the followup guys. I don't currently have a cell phone (live in the country) so I don't need to worry about the calling. Do you have a link to the unit you bought?
Corpcd- Any advantage on one over the other? Links by chance?
As always, thanks guys.

I think Intel Sofia has better support, there is a post here at xda with tons of owners.
In terms of performance, I'vent seen yet a comparison between the two chipsets, they've got different architectures. But differences are more related to having 2gb RAM instead of the chipset itself, I guess.
Where to buy? Look at units that fit your car model and decide if you buy it from aliexpress (cheaper and long time to arrive home), the brand web or ebay. I'd recommend go for a (most expensive, usually) local reseller, if anyone is available.
Brands: Joying (looks like the most trustable so far), Pumping, Dasaita (hotaudio), Klyde, Xtrons, Erisin.
For me, the best way to get my Joying Sofia was to order from Joying Europe (Germany). Free shipping with DHL to most European countries, delivery is 3-4 days. As I've stated in other threads, I am very happy with the Intel Sofia unit. It feels like a next-gen stereo compared to the 3188 1GB, however I have no idea how it compares to the other new units.

The problem with Joying units is that there are only two for my car model (Skoda-VAG group), one does not have DVD nor SD (not to have SD is a problem, it limits the use of USBs ports, and probably you can´t install Nav software in the USB) and the other one has DVD slot, but it does not have a DVD drive inside! It says: "With no CD/DVD slot, the "Exit" and "DVD" buttons not working", which is a little bit anoying.
But yes, If I could I'd go for an Intel Sofia from Joying from the european warehouse.
Xtrons seems to have an european warehouse also.

I drive a Skoda Fabia I bought the one with the dummy DVD-slot. The buttons work fine (they've been re-labelled to something else, can't remember what right now). The dummy slot itself doesn't bother me.
Edit: I could take a picture for you after work
So something along these lines? https://www.amazon.com/JOYING-Android-Stereo-Navigation-Bluetooth/dp/B01M670UWI

Yeah, that's the one I got (JY-UL135N2). I ordered straight through the Joying web site. They have an 8% off promotion going on till the end of March. Their free shipping is DHL. I ordered on a Friday and received my unit (Toronto, Canada) on Tuesday (with $30 of duties to pay as they listed the value of the radio as a gift worth $80).
What do you think of it so far? A deal breaker for me is the OBD2 problems. I need that, and decent sound quality.

Sound quality seems good to me, and I think the newest ROM addresses ODB2 issues. Don't have an adapter yet so not sure about that. The overall speed and instant on make it a very impressive upgrade from the AN-21 U. Hands free voice calling is pretty cool.
Overall very happy with the upgrade.
Thanks for the input, I went ahead and bought one. For some reason this one is coming from China so it's going to take awhile lol.

Their free shipping option is DHL which took three days from China to Canada. I believe on Joying's US site, they list some units separately as being in the US Warehouse, but they are priced slightly higher.
By the way, I hooked up my generic ODB adapter and Torque is running with no issues.
3 days is pretty quick, I'm in the Missouri so it'll probably next weekend that I receive it and do the install. I can't wait. The lag on this AN-21 U is driving me nuts lol
Well, I stand corrected. I just got an automated call from DHL, should be here Tuesday, lol. Time to start reading the forums...
Don't upgrade to anything. New units will arrive march with octa core. Just now joying release it!
Just wait 1 more month

Joying TM121N2 vs TO139P4

Hi folks,
I'm replacing a busted factory navigation unit in my 2011 Camry and after reading through these very helpful forums I've more or less settled on Joying, but would like advice on choosing between a TM121N2 or TO139P4. After sending car info and dash pics Joying recommended the PX5-based TO139P4; looking through their site the only other option that fits my fascia seems to be the SoFIA-based TM121N2.
On the surface the TO139P4 would seem to be a better choice (newer design, 9" vs 8", 4gb RAM vs 2gb, Android 8.0 vs 6.0) but I get the impression from the forums that this unit would be harder to customize than the TM121N2 (which I believe will work with the custom ROM posted by gtxaspec - please correct me if I'm wrong).
I don't intend to do any extreme customization, I just want to be able to fix things that don't work as I like then leave it alone. Primary usage is just navigation and music (since in reality 90% of the time my wife drives this car).
All other things being equal, given the choice, which one would you guys choose?
TIA for any advice
you also an choose TO121P2 or TO121P4:
Please read the reviews on amazon regarding Joying after sale service. I would recommend another brand. If your unit broke after 15 days (Joying policy), it will cost you almost double to get it repaired. I am one of the recent victims with TM121N2.

Thanks, somehow I missed seeing TO121P2. I can't find the P4 on their site (at least not in their search) but it does turn up on AliExpress.

Get the P4, I just got it. Works great. Service and support is decent, had no problems. My first joying was defective and they exchanged it, and paid me the cost of shipping it back to them 100%. Firmware updates regularly, what more could you want?
If you see an Intel model, you can special order it from joying in a P4 model, which is what I did. My model is only offered in an Intel N2 model, and they were able to give me the same facia in a P4. Really great.
Thanks for the advice folks, I ended up ordering a TO121P4 and received it today.

So many options, what should I purchase

I need to upgrade my deadly slow Android Head unit and I am so confused. I have a Hyundai Tucson (Ix35) 2016. I miss my old Joying head unit, but they seem to have nothing that fits my fascia (please correct me if I’m wrong). I think I will have to buy from AliExpress so I will have no support at all from the seller (correct me again if I’m wrong). So I want to get a device that is well supported by xda developers. I like when I can get a better firmware from here.
Checking the specs, should I take...
- 8” screen with buttons or 10.1” screen without buttons
- Android 8, 8.1 or 9 ?
- Which chip?
- Which mcu?
- PX5 or PX6 or something else. If you say PX6, would you prefer an octa core px5 or a 6 core px6?
- Is it really worth it to take the max RAM/ROM available?
- How can I make sure it won’t stop working when it’s freaking hot or freaking cold like my current unit. I hate my current head unit for that. My previous Joying head unit was not weather sensitive like this one.
- On which website should I purchase it. If you say AliExpress, do you know a good seller or a good brand?
Anything else I should know before purchasing?
Thanks
What country are you in?
You might consider buying through Amazon. get something with a bunch of feedback, a half-decent star score, and sold by either Amazon itself or the manufacturer/official distributor --- NOT because that's solid information, but because the Chinese companies who watch their ratings will actually offer tech support and send you free replacements if you give them 1* ratings and kick up a fuss in Amazon feedback
10" is nice if you have the room for it. 7" stuff looks super-dated in comparison, regardless of actual specs
