Was prompted with a LineageOS 15.1 update this morning, so proceeded to download that. I then clicked "Install" when done and I am told that I am about to upgrade and the phone will reboot after.
As soon as I click "OK" to proceed, updater closes and "Updater has stopped" is displayed.
Restarted the phone and now it doesnt say install but instead says "DELETE" for the update, clicked that, refresh and now no updates found.
Not sure what just happened

So I upgraded ROM (factory reset, etc), and started restoring using Titanium Backup.
Edit: It was an old Carbon ROM 4.3 to the new CarbonROM 4.4 nightly. I also used the newest PA Gapps
Here's what happened:
Chose "Restore all app with data"
Chose "Let me choose myself!"
Clicked on "Deselect all"
Then, I chose only the green and yellow colored app data, as well as all my missing apps
I started the Restore process...
At 92% completion, it remained stuck at "phone/messaging storage"
I waited 30 minutes and it was still there.
For some reason, I rebooted my phone.
Then I keep getting this message: "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped"
When I press okay, 2 seconds later it pops up again. Every time I press Okay, it pops up immediately after. Very frustrating....
I have also noticed now I no longer have phone signal either....What can I do?
Factory reset will fix. Phone data is not gonna be compatible between kitkat and other roms as the dialler is different.
I just upgraded from 5.1.1 to 6.01, downloaded the latest 6.01, using check update and then clicking flash.
Then i entered twrp, its all ok, everything is success and so is the booting, untill i the booting finish, it appear on the screen, a notification........"update google play services.....google play services won't run unless you update google play services". keep appearing. And another error pop up screen, "unfortunately android.com.phone has stopped".
Please HELP.
Sounds like you forgot to flash an updated gapps
So I first installed root for S5 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
Then I decided to install TWRP from here via Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697762
And after that I executed "Fix Permissions" in TWRP
and after that when system reboots it shows "Android Upgrading" message for a brief moment, and ten few dozens alerts show up saying "APP_NAME stopped working".
Then I re-installed the same root via Odin, but then when the phone boots, it shows the message "Android upgrading <br> Opening apps". This message is shown for about a minute or two and then again, few dozens alerts show up saying "APP_NAME stopped working".
I think this "Fix permissions" messed up the phone, so I'm wondering is there a way to fix this without factory reset or installing new ROM???
Regards
Why did you wanted to fix them? Wre they broken? Well, now they are.
Hello,
Whenever I go to perform the software update it goes to reboot into recovery to update and gets to about 25 to 26 percent before installs fails. After it reboots it has an error message stating that the install was interrupted. I have both factory data reset the device and tried using Samsung smart switch to update it. Smart switch says its the latest firmware is installed even though the phone keeps telling me there is an update available. Any ideas?

Same here. Were you able to get the update installed? If I cant get the update install, I will have to root, backup and then flash the update file myself.
Every morning I get a notification saying there is an update for lineage which is 568mb.
Every day I have downloaded it, and tried to install. But after some time on the install it just says "updater has stopped working"
Do I need to do a manual upgrade?
