Why Asus aloows 3 Facebook app in our system....they monitor our call logs also
Yes. Asus, Facebook, FBI and NASA have made an agreement to share data among each other.

So i just got my TP2 today and it says on Verizon's site, "Fast access to Youtube and Facebook", however I see no facebook app on the phone. I guess I could install the app on my own, but I would have thought it would have already been on the phone being it's listed as a feature included on the phone according to there site. Anyone else on Verizon not have the FB app or am I missing something?
if you go to the People tab & select All People there will be an Updates & Events tab where you can link your FB account to the phone. That's what they're talking about

So it will just sync peoples contact info like phone numbers and stuff and import them to my contacts on my phone? Sounds like I will still need to install the actual facebook app then.
MS Free Facebook App
Microsoft has a free one on their mobile site. Just put as a link on your start page and you're good to go.

Have fun!
Does this happen to anyone else?
When I search for a name, the text doesnt appear or when I click on Friends, the app just Force Closes
Same problem here. I use web facebook until new update, hope they fix it.
Same here. How could Asus/Google let this one slip? It's so obvious. Launch Facebook, Sign in. Goto Friends. Bam! FC.

This would be the developers problem to fix, not Asus or google. Unfortunately, the facebook app has been riddled with bugs since day one. I use friendcaster and it's much better in terms of features and stability - and I can view my friends
There is a new facebook in private beta - maybe they'll have the FC problem fixed when it's released to the public.

well i grabbed my sister ipad today and saw that in landscape mode there is also chat
will this available for transformer sometime?
The Facebook app includes chat and if I remember correctly Facebook also made a separate app to chat that is also on the market.

Facebook text chat is still available in the Android app; left corner- 3 lines tap those and a full page menu opens.
I personally just use imo.im and put all of my chat protocols in there. GTalk, Skype, Yahoo, MSN, Facebook, and many more.
It does not do video chat with anyone via GTalk or Skype, but if someone wants to do that I just launch the native app. Then I do not have to worry about doing facebook chat from within the FB app.

Thanks! I never thought to scroll down in that menu. I usually just use that menu to search for a friend and since I'm in a few groups I never saw the chat option below.

I believe facebook has a separate app for ipad, while we have to use the ugly phone version on our tablet
anyone knows about a solution for the chat that scrolls up on the browser on ics?
worked fine on HC
Hey guys.
First things first. I'm not the developer of any of these projects. I just found them and wanted to share them with anyone else who also recently started to use Telegram instead of Whatsapp.
If you're on Windows or OS X, you can check out their native apps in beta phase here - http://tdesktop.com/. I haven't used either of them yet, but they are in extremely active development, as new updates were added just today.
If you want to try the web client, I can vouch for it working extremely well. I use it on Linux on Chrome and it works wonderfully well. It even does Chrome notifications for new messages, and supports everything from group chats, media messaging, changing profile images, selective notifications, the whole deal. http://zhukov.github.io/webogram
Remember, all this stuff is in testing phase, but in my opinion, Telegram is in a position to make a serious change in IMing because of it's open source API strategy as opposed to Whatsapp's "phone phone phone only" system.
Enjoy!
needs a bbm client asap if it wants to really take off.
just one bbm user in a large group will affect it's likeliness to become the main messaging app for the whole group.
I would like to use this app but I can't get anyone off sms. ?

Only 1 of my friends is using it compared to 23 on WhatsApp, will keep it anyway for a bit to see if anyone else in my contact list starts to use it.
Btw. Ubuntu app is now available!
Telegram has been my favorite messaging app for months. Still trying to convert all my friends.
Telegram app has niche market for users keen to message encryption.
I noticed another app just mimic the same layout but using exactly same api, called messenger plus. (previously called telegram +). Not sure why's the different. Same phone number, allowed you to install the 2 apps....

Same dev as WhatsApp Plus, which has a long history behind it.

FB and FB Messenger seem to be battery eaters for me. I switched the Friendly for Facebook app. Full featured but takes a little while to get used to...

Does Friendly support simple Facebook login to other apps (e.g. Spotify)? My main reason behind sticking to the official full app is that not even the FB Lite app supports OAuth login to other apps, it brings up the web wrapper login - which is a hassle since my FB password is 64 characters.

I use Friendly and it brings up a web version of Facebook to auth. I use LastPass app to auto fill my credentials so it doesnt matter how long your password is, it should help you.

Lastpass and other auto password fillers are not an option before 8.0 - they use the Accessibility features of Android which causes incredible lag and power drain.
