Failed account notifications that I follow on twitter - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Samsung S8 does not notify me of the account tweets I follow. I receive a lot of tweets for immediate push notifications. If I have the phone with the screen unlocked, I have no problems. All are received, however when the phone is with the screen lock or screen off but terminal on they arrive randomly, some yes, others do not.
Also when I unlock the mobile I notice that at that moment they begin to arrive.
I have disabled the application power control and the twitter notifications from the people I follow in priority mode
If you have the active phone, everything arrives, but if it goes into blocking mode, the system sleeps certain things ...
That did not happen to me with my previous terminal with android stock in which if they all arrived without exception
I have restored the phone without success. I understand that it is a problem of the samsung customization layer that controls "too much"
Any solution?
Greetings and thanks

MX4 - Apps Push Notification delay or dead!!

Flyme Version of my MX4 is 4.5.6A (Andorid 5.0.1)
Guys, This is about MX4, I have been using this as my secondary device for sometime and I’m seeing a serious problem for a while. I don’t know whether other MX4 users using the similar problem. So the problem is all about the push notifications from the third party applications like Whatsapp, Viber, Kik, Hike Messenger, Yahoo Messenger etc gets delayed when the phone is connected to WiFi.
- When the phone screen is ON or if I’m not allowing the phone to go to an sleep mode the notifications are pretty to quick.
- When the phone goes to a sleep mode, I still get notifications with a time difference of less than 2 mins from sleep mode.
- But sometimes when the phone is idle and if there is any whatsapp message or any push notifications it won’t alert, unless I unlock the phone open that particular app.
- Under the permission settings I even gave the access to Auto Start for those apps, but the problem remains the same.
Since the time I bought this phone, I see this problem. Thought it might by be a bug on the software initially. But even after many updates the problem remains the same. So I thought I will ask you guys if there is a fix around. Please HELP!!
I have the same issue with my Meizu M2 Note. I even killed (totally removed from the phone) Security Center, so it shouldn't rule apps. Here I just stumbled and don't know what to do.
Yeah I think it's security centre being a bit over zealous. I converted whatsapp, Facebook messenger, etc as system apps using titanium and it seems to work

Delayed notifications on V20 - help!

Hey all,
Struggling with my V20. I've had it since launch and never had a single issue like this prior. I first started experiencing issues with no notifications showing up on my phone, unless I went into the app (hangouts, gmail, work email, etc.), when I traveled to the west coast (which caused a time change) about two weeks ago. As soon as I came back to EST, everything was working for ... a day. Notifications stopped working again.
So I factory reset my phone and things were better, but still not perfect. Regularly not getting notifications between my primary applications (good for enterprise, gmail, hangouts and google voice). The issue appears to be more so when on WiFi. As soon as I change to cellular I get MOST of my notifications (not all).
I installed Push Notifications which seemed to initially help, but thereafter, no dice. I'm not using any battery saving apps either.
I'm at a loss. What am I doing wrong/missing that I'm having all these issues?
Thanks
I had the same issue. I contacted T-Mobile about it, and the problem seemed to just go away, so it could have been a network problem. However, I also rolled back SuperSU from 2.82 to the 2.79 SR3 by flashing it in TWRP. You should try that and prevent SuperSU from upgrading in the Play Store.
Thanks for the response; however, I'm not rooted.
Now that you mention it, I have had the issue recently as well. I will open snap chat and have snaps or hangouts and have messages. I do not have any kind of battery saver on or block apps from sending notifications. I am on ATT.
I have a friend who's having this exact same issue. He's on the 14B update from Verizon. We're thinking of trying a factory data reset to see if it solves the issue.
Yup. I got the same problem. Unlocked, on Verizon.
LG phones have always seemed to have this issue. This phone, my G5, G4... Annoying
I think I may have found a fix for it. I'll post a YouTube later.

Same issue with Gmail and my work email. I open the app and get flooded with notifications that had never come through.

I know Gmail has had its own issue with notifications that is not related to the phone. Many users including myself get delayed Gmail notifications or not at all. There is a bug tracker on the forum that Google states they apparently fixed but people still complain. It is frustrating.
I'm noticing that the Google app is causing delayed push notifications on all apps for me. I am able to reproduce the delay when connecting bluetooth devices (you may even notice it takes ~10 seconds for the bluetooth connection notification to show up on the secondary screen). I'm seeing the issue go away if you disable the Google app. I'm curious to see if this fixes the delay for other people. Try freezing/disabling the Google app.
I've been using Push Notification Tester where I'm able to see some heavy delays in push notifications being received. Specifically with Bluetooth connect events so far. I found the culprit to be the Google app by watching logs (logcat) and seeing reports that the app is processing events for 10 seconds per event which blocks the queue. If I continuously connect/disconnect bluetooth devices I will see push messages fail to be received for a long time (10 seconds for each bluetooth event adds up....)
If you're only experiencing issues with a specific app this might not be the the same issue. Worth noting I was able to reproduce this issue with a Galaxy S8. Figure I'd just share my findings.
I just disabled my google app, and it seems to have fixed the problem almost immediately. The bluetooth connection notification comes up on the second screen almost immediately, and goes away after a few seconds. Before disabling the app it would take up to 20 seconds to just show up on the screen, and then it would never go away.
Now to figure out why the app is doing it...

So, upon restarting my phone, these notifications (along with 20+ others) finally came through. Appears the only way I can get notifications is as follows:
1) Switch from WiFi to cellular, or vice versa, or Airplane mode - some notifications come through
2) Forcing a manual refresh while within an app
3) Restart the phone
I'm going bananas over here. Ready to smash this thing. I don't understand why doing a factory reset didn't fix this issue.
Help!
FWIW, called VZW, they have absolutely no idea.

By disabling the Google app, this simply rolls back the version of it. Is that you've found to be successful?

I do want to say that this issue is only happening on a recent release of the Google app since I suddenly started noticing this problem one day.
Therefore, rolling the Google app back may solve the problem, but I can't be for sure. You most likely won't be able to disable the Google app via the standard interface. You would need to be rooted and disable/freeze it with an app such as Titanium Backup or 3C System Tuner.
If you want to continue to use the Google app, you can get more advanced and specifically disable the receiver that the Google app is using to intercept the events. Note, though, that this may have side effects on the app, but I have yet to notice any issues. Using 3C System Tuner you can disable the "com.google.android.apps.gsa.broadcastreceiver.CommonBroadcastReceiver" receiver which is what is intercepting and delaying the events/notifications.
App Manager -> Apps -> Google App -> Manage -> Open.. -> Details -> Receivers -> Uncheck "com.google.android.apps.gsa.broadcastreceiver.CommonBroadcastReceiver"
https://i.imgur.com/zerTmWq.jpg
Just be careful using this app as it allows you to change many things.
Here is the logcat message I noticed which was causing the delays. You'll notice it saying the CommonBroadcastReceiver consumed 10011 ms (10 seconds) while processing the android.bluetooth.device.action.UUID broadcast record which is fired when connecting/discovering a bluetooth device. This is why it would take 10 seconds before the event hit the 2nd screen.
Code:
06-21 19:29:27.496 1554 2993 W BroadcastQueue: ResolveInfo{99f8ba4 com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/com.google.android.apps.gsa.broadcastreceiver.CommonBroadcastReceiver m=0x108000} consumed 10011 ms for handling BroadcastRecord{a529d0d u0 android.bluetooth.device.action.UUID} in background queue
When I disabled Google, it rolled back the version and for the past couple hours, all notifications have been working perfectly. Let's see what the next couple days bring.

My US996 unlocked V20 has been getting progressively worse on bluetooth connections the last couple of months. After waiting and waiting for LG to update the phone, I decided to unlock and root recently. I am still on a stock rom, but at least I have options now.
Using 3C System Tuner to disable CommonBroadcastReceiver as you have shown has been the greatest help of anything I have done. This info could easily merit it's own thread under "V20 bluetooth connection issues".
Before applying your work-around my phones bluetooth connections would become less and less consistent, slow to connect, fail to connect, stuck secondary screen connect notifications, and require frequent reboots to connect to my vehicle.
After disabling CommonBroadcastReceiver, connections are quick and mostly reliable, no stuck secondary screen notifications.
I believe the blame for these problems lies with LG and their lack of attention to google android updates. Google might have fixed these issues 6 months ago and LG has not done anything about it. My US996 was last updated December of 2016, LG said they have no update scheduled for my phone. No security updates, no android updates.
Thanks again for this work-around!
ive had this issue going on for a few months now. how does the google app affect text notifications? this is so frustrating and i am on call for work and i am missing notifications in the middle of the night.

Problem with push notifications when phone is sleeping / idle

Hello!
I'm running a stock Verizon HTC 10 with the latest OTA updates. This phone seems to have a problem with push notifications after it has been "sleeping" or idle for awhile. I don't know exactly what that time period is, but it seems to be about 30 minutes. Once the screen goes black and the phone has been idle in this state for this time period, the phone stops getting (or checking for-however that works) push notifications. There is no blinking LED or sound notification that mail has come for gmail or Outlook. The phone will still answer calls and notify upon receipt of text messages. Usually within a few seconds of turning the screen on from the idle state, the gmail and Outlook notifications come. When the phone screen is on, or within a few minutes of turning the screen off, the push notifications will still come, but then stop.
I googled about this, and there seems to be quite a bit of discussion about it. I have tried the suggested remedies, but they don't work (unsync/sync gmail, clear data/cache for the apps, turn battery optimization off, delete/re-add accounts, along with some others). For work, I have a Samsung Galaxy S7, and it doesn't have this problem. Furthermore, my wife also has an HTC 10, and her phone doesn't seem to have the problem either (although I have not tested it thoroughly).
I've been through various settings, checked the do not disturb settings, but I can't seem to figure this out. I am probably missing some setting. It seems that the phone is going into some deep sleep mode after a period of time and disabling these apps, but keeping others, like the phone and SMS functions, alive.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Are you using power saver mode? What about the boost+ app?
Also a lot of people started having similar issues after the first update to Nougat for U.S Unlocked. Later updates fixed the issue, but it sometimes still happening with Gmail for me.

I am not using power saver mode, and the Verizon version doesn't have the boost+ app installed.

Push notifications not working while screen is off

I've recently switched over from iOS to a Samsung Galaxy S8 running Android 8. During the first week everything worked just fine. I was receiving push notifications on a regular basis. A few days ago suddenly notifications stopped working intermittently when screen is off. I couldn't find a pattern really. It does it both on Wi-Fi and 4G, for all apps. Sometimes push notifications work, sometimes they are delayed (receiving them after a few minutes) and sometimes they do not work at all.
Each time it doesn't work when I turn on the screen, all notifications pop up with both sound and visual.
What I checked so far:
- Notifications turned on for the specific apps and allowed on lockscreen
- Apps were also put into the "Unmonitored apps" under Device Maintenance - Battery
- Wi-Fi on during sleep set to always
- Data saver turned off
- Optimize battery usage - checked that the apps are set to off
- Even tried by enabling Always On Display setting - same behavior.
For me it seems that the something in the battery optimization process is messing up with the notification service. I can't say for sure if it happens for messages as well as I don't receive text messages so often, but it happens for all other apps: Gmail, Whatsapp and some other apps I use.
I noticed that under Optimize battery usage there are a lot of system services and they are all set to be optimized. Which I find very odd considering that probably some of them are very important for the system to run properly. Is it possible that there is a service there that handles notifications and I should switch off battery optimization for it as well? The only name I found close was a service called "notification" which I disabled, but without success. Still not getting push notifications.
Any idea what else can be checked? If I cannot find a solution to it I will most probably go back to iOS as this is very annoying. I heavily rely on notifications for work purposes as well.

Android 9.0 - delayed notifications

Hello,
recently I decided to update my Mi A1 to Android 9.0. Unfortunately it turns out that I have a big problem with notifications. Sometimes they come "normally", at the time they should. However, it often happens that notifications appear with a delay of 10-30 minutes. Sometimes they don't even come at all until I turn on the screen. In this case of course I am talking about the lack of notifications when the phone is unused. However, I once had a case when notifications from Facebook Messenger did not come for more than 3 hours, despite the use of the phone - car navigation, browsing the Internet, notes, etc. Messenger didn't show notifications of new messages until I opened it. I've tried to turn off the adaptive battery mode, but it did not help. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Everything worked well on Android 8.0, but I do not feel like going back to it again.
