Same devices like HTC HD2 with Snapdragon, when you overclock the CPU, the same happens with GPU...
But in our case ( defy ) is not the same...
By default ( where i know ) PowerVR SGX530 it's runing AT 200Mhz, but can run higher, than 200mhz ( 400mhz i think ).
We can overclock the GPU to get more 3D performance, witouth sacrificate the battery?
Why do you think the GPU can run at twice the default clock speed?
If there is an article you have read that states or suggests this - please provide a link.
by default it's runing at 110Mhz ( i think )
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerVR
the default clock is 200Mhz, and i thing can go furher.
I have seen traces of 125mhz looking in the system files, but thats more of a guess

according to ti, it is [email protected] (all 3630 is)
well it's either CORE_CLK/6 (0x1) or "full speed" (0x0) (CONTROL_FEATURE_OMAP_STATUS)

Ok, but is there any way to overclock the GPU? at 250 or 300mhz maybe?
This program on the market says it can overclock GPU:
Overclocking (GPU / CPU) https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cpufree
but doesn't seem worth trying since it has a very very bad rating and comments.
Last app update was 5 months ago.
Can someone find an app worth trying?

Would be cool if the gpu ups with CPU, but like mentioned above...I think the omap3630 is locked at 200mhz
If anyone knows how to do a gpu OC...please share
dunno about you guys, but as far as i know, the gpu is integrated in the cpu chip (its like an extra core so to say), so it should be overclocked with the cpu. and whenever i ocd the cpu, i experienced graphics improvements, so i think, thats the answer, they oc together.

No they do not OC together i am afraid. Most of Android UI is being drawn by CPU and not by GPU as many thinks :/
Well, I've experienced minor changes when OCing my Defy from 1ghz to 1.3ghz, when using Neocore... it went from 39fps to 39.3 fps, but such small changes are expected, even without OC...

Edit: can you tell what kernel/ROM you used and how you did it. Thanks

Water cooled would be soo awesome !
there is a theory by turgot, that increasing a faktor wont increase the outcome at a specific point anymore. therefore i would be really interested how your play handles games at that oc. not only a benchmark, something like a video where its possible to see occouring errors, if there are any
this is great work you did, and it may allows some modification to the play.yes im thinking about cooling..even if it wont be that portable anymore. thanks for your help
2.3GHz
I'm currently going where no developer would go before my customized kernel has 26 CPU frequinces all up and a max of 2.3GHz
But without the GPU overclock and a 8mb GPU memory vs Lupus and dooms 4mb
i cant go even more than 1.6ghz
Needed an extra cooler solution and an powerful battery, like Mugen 3600mAh, to maintain this level of OC for diary use. Would be amazing!

Wait, what? Lupus Kernel offers increased amount of VRAM?
IMHO this is perfectly fine if you don't care so much about the device, otherwise you would be crazy. OC'ng so high will eventually cause in-reversable damage. I know what your doing so no need for me to ask questions But even if its stable for you it wont be for others all depends on the chip and as we know each is different. Also even if people don't use 2.x ghz frequencies tend to jump to the highest for a mili second if even on boot, causing problems with the device actually booting.
Well just my 2 cents on OC'ing...

What about 2 cents on this VRAM apparently being doubled?
At the end of the day its not GMEM which is essentially like a processors cache. Our chip has 256kb of it. But the allocated VMEM, would upping it to 8MB provide any sort of performance increase?

Can you post some benchmarks for the CPU? And also tell us more about the VRAM... Did it make any difference?
I believe that the Xplay has good chances of reach 2.0GHZ, running fine, provided has an good thermal solution. In my test, the games run fine for some minutes, before start overheat. Needed of somebody to build an custom cooler, then, make some tests. In my opinion, the safe clock, for sure, is not only 1.6GHZ. Only for default cooler.

I CBF screen shooting but CPU at 2.1 is around 20% faster then 1.6 and the GPU is around 25% faster with a 2600 3d score in antutu without adrenobooster
I know it's kind of not allowed to redistribute this but can u upload the kernel and send it ti me (PM) cus I will take some screens ans my play can handle 2GHz fine but bootloops when gaming after about 30-50 minutwa (depends on intensity of game!)

At that time I din't know anything about this phone, becouse I just had buyed it, then I started spending 8hrs in the computer to study kernels, redmi 2, and all related to source, android, etc. Then I started making overclocks, and after 2 weeks of testing I completed my results and overclock was fake.
It's like school or college, you need to study to understand
Which ROM is best to be used with late autumn kernel. When I install late autumn kernel on any ROM ,the camera stops working.

For me cpu z shows I have mali 450 MP gpu instead of MP4. This is a bug and present in benchmark app too. Try this app

Nevertheless you shouldn't worry it won't cause you any issue in custom rom flashing or rooting the phone etc.

It's impossible. It's like saying that I want to watch 4K video on 320*240 screen. You cannot change number of cores it's a physical thing not just software.

Battery optimization of course. Youll find shortly after that the battery will drain faster if youve reverted back the kernel to 2.2ghz. they are eliminating the use of high frequency performances under low load conditions.

I guess that might be it... But with root (kernel adiutor) we'll probably be able to adjust the higher frequencies ... In case someone comes up with a custom kernel... Since the sources are already released..
