Weird unexplained battery draining - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all I have never posted any questions online before so excuse me if I'm missing some info that I should have posted please inform me of any missing info.
My note 3 SM-N9005 has this very weird problem.
The battery drains 1% every 2 minutes. with airplane mode but wifi on, screen brightness on the lowest level, not using any application.
(If I'm playing a game or watching videos it goes from 100% to 0% in about half an hour or less.)
This rate is after fresh install of custom rom. I've tried more than one rom, I've tried stock lollipop rom, more than one Cyanogenmod roms and lineage Oreo 8.1. They all had the same battery consumption.
Plus whenever I check the battery consuming applications in android settings, The sum of percentages consumed by everything isn't anywhere near the actual consumed, for example the sum of consumed battery by applications is 9% and the battery percentage is at 66%.
I've changed the battery three times so far and tried the battery on another phone and it seemed to work just fine in the other note 3.
I've tried changing the charger but still the same.
I just want to know what is causing this fast consumption even though I've changed everything.

I have the exact same problem

ok, my phone battery life is messed up. Help please

Hi guys, this is not another rant post about battery life, but i'm starting to become really
frustrating with it, i tried almost all the solutions provided here on the forum but i can't
simply get the **** out of it. This is my story:
I bought the phone as used around 1 month ago (the guy who sold me the phone used it for around 1
month as well). I was quite satisfied about the device, but i noticed almost immediately the damn
poor battery life. With stock battery, my stats are (this is an average of the last 3 times i
used it):
Average duration: 27 hours
Average display usage: 2.5 hours
Average display %: around 45%
Average standby: Cell 30%, phone 15-16, other apps and android core 1-2
This with the following configuration:
3g off
gps off
background data off
bluetooth off
display brightness set to the minimum
no background applications or live wallpapers
No animations
No vibration feedback
No sounds
No widgets
Removed 5 touchwiz panels out of 7
Wi fi on (actually i noticed some small improvements by leaving it off)
The strange thing is, i noticed that the phone drains a LOT of battery while in standby. During
the night (7-8 hrs standby) my phone can drains up to 20% of the battery life. I read on the
forum that a lot of you guys have a battery drain overnight of around 2-3% which is 10 times
lower than mine.
So i thought about 2 possible causes:
1) Software related(processes or applications running in background)
2) Hardware related (battery ****ed up by the previous owner; phone not going in standby correctly)
Regarding the problem 1) i tried almost every solution provided here on the forum. Updated to new roms (JM5 and JM8) installed ultraslim roms, installed battery saving applications and task killers, performed some exotic "fixes" (removed battery stats file, tried to completely drain the battery following some procedures explained here on the forum). Nothing helped. To check case 2) i bought a cameronsino extended battery. Well with this battery i have exactly twice the duration of the stock battery. Last night i charged it to full before going to bed. This morning, when i woke up, the phone drained 10% (!) of the battery in 8 hours. So the stock battery is not the problem. What should i think then? that My phone is ****ed up? is There no chance to obtain a decent battery life? How is possible that a lot of guys have almost twice my battery life with stock battery?
I guess your phone may not be going into the sleep mode correctly ... try using system panel (from the market) and figure out which rogue app is causing the problem. Mine usually drains 4-5% at night.. (jm8 stock + voodoo)...

Note 3 | 4.4.2 version|battery drain of 22% overnight.

Hello All,
I'm using note 3 France version. I notice that overnight my phone is getting, yesterday night my phone was charged till 93%and i closed all the running apps & when i see this morning, am left with 71% of juice.
Stock Android + no root.
When i look at the battery graph, it just says "android os" for 100%.
Is it actually hiding any of the background process?
Is this normal?
Sent from my SM-N9005
In my case, the sd card is the culprit. Every thing back to normal when i remove the sd card.

SD card shouldn't be a problem, many people use them without any issues, you may have experienced indexing bug, some program residing partially on a card got shot down, when card was removed, or something of this nature.
As far as OP goes, even battery display itself is weird, never seen anything like that. On mine Android OS, Android System, cell standby, device idle, something from Google and screen will show up at the minimum. In your case it seems every other battery usage had to be very small, way less than 1%, If you press on Android System, you will get more details, but no matter what I would do full factory reset to start with, since neither 22% idle discharge nor battery display is normal. Just make sure you have full backups, since you'll loose all settings and need to reinstall all programs.

Note 3 battery drain problem Solved...
Hi all..
I am using a note 3 LTE N9005. I was facing the battery drain problem with my phone it used to drain at a rate of 10% an hour even when the phone was locked and kept idle. Like some one mentioned above if I kept it aside after full charging in the night it would be around 50% in the morning.
Then i installed wake lock to check what was causing the issue but couldn't find anything unusual.
Later i noticed that my android system and android OS were consuming more than 35 % charge everyday. Even wake lock and other similar apps couldn't find it.
Finally....finally i decided to uninstall few apps one by one and check if anything changes..... and yessss..... i found it.... Facebook app and Facebook messenger were the culprits. ... particularly Facebook app.
Now without them... i am getting a full 6 hours screen time and 24 hours on normal usage. Just try it.... its worth a try.
Please note : My phone : N9005
Android version : 4.4.2 KitKat
Hope this help you.

Note 4 stays awake and drain battery while idle

I am using Note 4 (N910C) bought new 4 months ago but some times device behave weird. Sometimes device stays awake (cpu stays active) while screen is off and the device is not being used. When this state happen in the battery stats it can be seen that the awake line becomes strong and permanent and only solution is to restart the device.
After restart, device behaves normal for about 2 to 3 days and after that same problem persist. During this situation 4% per hour battery is consumed when device is idle.
In battery stats Android System and Android OS consume most of the battery when this problem happens. Otherwise device consume normal battery and I get about 6 hrs of screen on time.
I have tried several solutions like
Cleared cache.
Disabled some pre installed apps which i don't use like svoice etc
Disable sync services
Installed Gsam battery monitor but no-special process found other than android aystem which consume battery in problem state.
But nothing mentioned above really helped. The only known solution is restarting the device which help for like 2 days and problem comes again.
Device is not rooted and I am using original Samsung OS. Lollipop 5.1.1 and Marshmallow 6.0.1 both have same problem the later was updated via OTA. But nothing addressed the problem.
Please guide with the possible soultion?
I have the exact same problem, would be great if somebody can help

I also have the same problem, i'm going to search deeper in the forums if someone solved this months ago
So far it ends up wasting the battery of a generally idle device and stays up long enough for my screen and body to heat up when left unattended.
Have you already fiddled with the screen settings itself? Particularly Settings>Device>Display and Wallpaper > Smart Stay? I turned mine off and it did reduce some of the battery drain issues.
WiFi and mobile data (even just the plain mobile signal) seems to drain the battery too a little quickly.

Note 4 Fast Battery Drain

Hi,
Not sure if this is in the right section so admin please feel free to move.
Ive googled my problem and had a bit of a read but dont really get any solutions.
Ive noticed a serious battery drain since upgrading to 6.0.1 - maybe it happened on the previous version however ive just seemed to have noticed it more since i did the update.
My battery doesnt last very long. It will show 100% in the morning. If i dont use it, it can go down to about 80% within an hour or so. If i do use it then im using apps like gmail, whatsapp / sms, short phone calls, some other apps but im not on them for very long. I normally close all apps that are running in the background.
This morning it was 100%, ive used it as described above and its on 57% and its not even dinner time yet...
Ive checked the battery usage and top of the list is " Cell standby" with 48% usage showing power used is 1530mah - which is alot. The next is "my data manager" (an app to manage data usage) showing power used is 485mah (alot less!). Ive attached a screen shot.
Ive also noticed that once the battery gets to around 30% it drains even faster. I find myself using power saving mode when it gets to about 20%. It still seems to drain at a similar rate. Maybe slightly slower.
Any ideas on what i can do to recover battery time without buying a new battery. There seems to be a few topics online relating to battery drain when updating to the latest android version.
Thanks

Factory reset might help a lot.
Dont really wanna have to do a factory reset if i can help it.
I forgot to mention i also cleared the cache in boot mode

I had same battery drain issues when i updated from lollipop to Marshmallow but after doing factory reset everything is better then lollipop and doze feature in 6.0.1 works very well. I leave my phone at night about 9 hours and not drain even 2% battery and i got 5 hours scrern on time .
try factory reset+wipe cache from recovery and use atleast 3 days to doze feature work properly.if you have same drain issue then it's a bad battery.this is the only solution so far.

Abnormally Fast Battery Drain

I've posted in the Android General Q&A and
in the custom ROM forum itself, but have gotten no responses.
A search on XDA and other sites yielded nothing similar to my issue, so here—
Issue: Abnormally fast battery drain. My battery would
be fully charged, and almost immediately start draining until
it'd show 1% within 2 hrs. Screen would be off mostly (normal
use).
Been on a custom ROM since January 2017 (crDroid) and have had no problems with it since,
except 3 days ago, when the problem first appeared.
Things that are ON: LTE data (or Wi-fi), Auto apps update on
Google Play Store (never been problematic before), Location,
Things that are OFF: Bluetooth, ScreenCast, Caffeine
When I check Battery in Settings, the numbers don't add up.
I'd have battery indicator at 70% for example, but Screen,
Android System, all other apps would add up to only 7%. So
that's a whopping 23% unaccounted for.
But here's the weird thing: it drains fast until 1%, then at 1%,
the phone is supposed to initiate automatic shutdown like it has before.
When this issue cropped up, the phone keeps going for about 6 hours
or so before shutdown is started. Checking Kernel Adiutor occasionally,
I'd see a much slower decrease in voltage which probably reflects
more accurately the power drawdown situation.
Things I've done:
-clear cache (both through File Explorer and TWRP Recovery)
-clear batterystats.bin
-calibrate battery after full charge/discharge (via Root Essentials,
which basically does the same thing as manually deleting batterystat.bin,
if I'm not mistaken)
-Resetting App Preferences via Setting/Battery
None of the above has worked. Any idea what might be wrong?
My device is a Zuk Z1, with a 4100mAh battery. It usually lasts me more
than a day on normal use, but as the attached pic shows, it's at 96%
yet without having used any apps yet, has only 2 hrs of juice left.
I've tried reflashing my ROM, wiping everything including formatting data
yet nothing has worked.
I'm a light user, as I don't play games or watch videos on my phone.
Neither do I use graphics-intensive apps. I haven't used processor-intensive apps
that require constant GPS (like Google Maps, Waze) since then.
EDIT: OK, I've flashed 3 other ROMs: Citrus-CAF, NucleaROM and stock, and the problem persists.
By doing the above, I've crossed out the possibility of it being the ROM. Neither is it the battery
itself, because it would've shut down by itself at 1%, yet at 1% I can last 6 or 7 hours of light use.
Anyone out there have any idea?

Try XOSP. was very good by tech mashido for battery.
And 1% don't last that much. It's a long prediction.

For me 1% never stayed for less than a min.
