Hi -
I found an LG G6 on eBay which has been "Google locked" meaning nobody can use it until the original owner enters their gmail. Since I am planning to flash a custom ROM (LineageOS), would this Google lock matter go away, since it's on the stock ROM? The G6 is in pretty good condition and is selling for $116 shipped.

"Google locked"? I have never heard of that. Screen locked, yes. Where did you get this info? It's possible the IMEI number is locked after it reported as stolen. If so, pass on it.
Google lock is possible if G6 is on Nougat. I bought a V20 of a seller on Ebay and he had to send me his logon details and password so i could set the phone up. He just changed his password afterwords.

Search "Google FRP". No way around it. Custom Roms or KDZ stock ROMs won't fix it. Usually a stolen or "found" phone. May even be "blacklisted" by carrier as likely reported lost or stolen. Worth $80 for parts only to fix another broken G6

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum for this but I don't know where else to go with it. Long story short, I bought this TMobile locked Samsung s7 edge from a local guy who said he bought it outright no contract. He didn't say it was s locked I assumed it was unlocked (yeah...I know) anyway I use a different cell phon carrier which I won't work. I've called tmobile 4x and they can't/won't unlock it but they t ok me the IMEI is good. But the guy will not contact me back about getting the phone unlocked...I think out my money and options. I was t old that it needs to be unlocked remotely not just a code I paid a site to try the code and they couldn't do it.
Any advice/help or experience with this kind of situation?
You can check here in case it was bought from samsung by original seller - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3592266

The guy I bought it from said he bought it outright, no contract and when I contacted him about not being able to unlock it he said when he asked tmobile about it that could not find it in their system and I'd have to get it unlocked online. I've tried several sites already and no one does it remotely.
Try calling TMobile and they should unlock it right away. If they won't do it, you might need to contact the person who purchased the phone and tell them to give tmobile a call. Clean IMEI does not mean it is still carrier locked. It just means the phone isnt marked as lost/stolen. My S7 Edge won't unlock in the app even though I am already out of contract. After I called them, they did something in their system and instructed me to reboot then try again, and it unlocked in the unlock app directly. "Unlock Codes" DOES NOT work with tmobile s7 as you are required to do it in the app.
My trusty Note 4 finally gave up the ghost. I've been looking everywhere to try and find a new LG V20 H918 for T-Mobile and I'm having no luck. Amazon has it listed but it appears that everyone (myself included) is getting the H910 for AT&T instead.
Any suggestions where to find a new H918 or has that ship sailed?
I bought a slightly used one used off ebay that still was on 10d, so easy to root. You have to make sure it is a trusted seller with a clean imei.
Agreed. The feedback on some of the sellers with mass quantities of "new" phones makes me cringe.

I asked the seller what the firmware was and if he would give me the imei to check with tmo. He did and they told me it was clean. Make sure you have the tmo rep make note of your call (assuming you have an account with them). It can take 6 months for an unpaid phone to show up in their system as "unpaid." This happened to my wife's S7 edge. They shut it down. I called them and reminded them that they told me it was ok. So they turned the service back on.
If you buy from a seller who has a significant amount of total sales, they aren't going to abandon their account just to rip you off for one phone.
One other option is a pawn shop. I almost bought one there. The advantage is you can physically check the phone out, check firmware, find the imei and call tmo on the spot.
Good luck!
i was able to find a new T-Mobile LG V20 just a few weeks ago. I had to call all the T-Mobile stores around me, and finally found a franchise that had one. It had a build date 02/2017

I ended up finding a new, sealed one on eBay. It's running 10d. The seller had a second one that was used. I jumped on it and took both.
I hadn't done enough homework yet and didn't realize at the time that the phone had to be 10k or older to root. When I got it, it's running 10p.
So, I'm still trying to hunt down another one...

I saw your other post and Like I said I would contact the local law As if she isnt giving you the password or offering to unlock it or even I believe just logging onto google and releasing it from her account Something is up and you will get no help here as this is a fishy situation
Google locked S8 will be forever locked. The only way you can unlock it "legally" is to have the original owner unlock it for you, or do it via "law". File a case to that person - Legal papers that are properly signed & notarized will be acknowledged by Samsung and they can do the inhouse unlocking[im not sure how they do this but yes they can] of your phone ( You need the Original Receipt of the product also)
But in your case, this purchase is something fishy, I believe you got this from buy&sell with no Real Identification of seller. No original receipt of purchase, which is very important when dealing with this matter .
Mod edit
what makes you think that they dont just scan a barcode? has this method worked for you or anyone else?
Why would you need to edit out the Verizon part? It's still under manufacturer warranty. Or is this so we don't get a locked bootloader Verizon replacement?

It's to get a non-Verizon model. That means no locked bootloader.
Not going to work. The unlocked variants actually came from verizon, not google.

I just did an insurance claim and they sent me an unlocked variant.. didn't send me the same color phone I originally had.. but needless to say the OEM unlock isn't greyed out
had you edited the packing slip prior to you sending the device in for replacement?
I only ask because there is 2 bar-codes on the packing slip. One with the RMA #. The other for device make/mode/ type.
Why wouldn't they just scan the bar-codes?

I didn't do anything.. just called and made the insurance claim.. they sent me a different phone before I sent them my phone
Consider yourself lucky then I have been through 5 replacements two from Verizon and three from Google. The Google replacements always came locked. The Verizon one was unlocked. Literally one month ago I got a replacement from Google completely locked.

Worked for me, just got a new one again. The email they send will say "Your Verizon pixel 2 has shipped"
OP tells you to scratch barcode --- doesnt scratch barcode ..hmm
Mods should remove due to OP telling people to break their phones and make false warranty claims.
Going to upgrade my Note 5 and buy Note 8 and connect it to Verizon
1. Are overstocked phone new phone?
For example this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Samsun...y-Unlocked-T-Mobile-AT-T-Verizon/202350880202
Advertised as new, but in white box, without original box
Does it real new phone with original screen film, or with transparent, not original sticker?
Manufacturer refurbished just $100 cheaper
2. Are all notes 8 the same?
Should I buy Verizon locked version or FACTORY UNLOCKED?
I will ask seller to check IMEI via Verizon website before shipping phone to me, but what if no one FACTORY UNLOCKED IMEI will not be accepted by Verizon? Ask to send me Verizon locked?
3. Is FACTORY UNLOCKED proof that phone does not have downgradable bootloader?
I want to root it when 80% charging will be fixed.
Thank you
PS: Hate Samsung, but like their phones
Hate Verizon, but like their network
Hate Knox, Samsung(google, apple) pay, visual voicemail, Google Maps newer than 6.14
never use screen lock
If you're looking to buy a phone on eBay I would highly recommend Swappa! Much better quality and trusted. Alot of eBay sellers do sell fake Chinese clones so that is why I would use Swappa.
