Is it possible to use the AOSP dialer (not the HTC stock one) with DC or Froyo. Right now, every time I make a call using Google Voice or something, the HTC call screen comes up. I don't want to completely scrap Sense because I like some things like the alarm app. Is there a solution?
Yes I posted this in Q&A, but there seems to be more Q than A there.
help please
I would like this too.

I posted a reply on the thread started in dev and moved to QA, and I'll paste it here also. Hopefully we can either combine findings or someone will know the answer:
I'm hoping to do the same thing. I like the AOSP dialer and contacts much better.
I have been able to get the AOSP calendar, calculator, clock, browser, etc. to install on DC from bugless beast, so far with no problems.
However when I install some of the phone stuff I just get FCs for everything.
I installed the following apks from bugless beast on DC:
contacts
contactsProvider
Phone
Telephony
FutureDial
And got FCs. I haven't had a chance to try any further. Anybody else have ideas?
halp plz anyone
Can anyone do it?!
I can just install this and it will replace the sense dialer and call screen?

I didn't mean it could be done. I meant it in the Billy Madison sense.
Does anyone have a serious answer to my query?

That seems a bit harsh, considering my post with some valid information to get closer to an answer. I think if a few of us work on different ways of doing this, we will probably figure it out.
I appreciate your response, but it wasn't an answer to my question so much as a question in itself. Does anyone know how to install the AOSP Dialer?
I pulled apart the apk and I am in way over my head. Not sure what I'm doing.

i would like to see the aosp dialer too. i dont like the sense dialer at all.

I did answer how to install the AOSP dialer, it just didn't work. I'm hoping more people than me can actively try to get this to work (I work 50 hours a week and have a kid so I don't have a lot of time on my hands). I'll try to stop arguing and explain how people can work on this
The needed files are contacts, contactsprovider, and phone. However there is apparently something else needed to make them work properly. It could be adding another apk, or removing another apk, or even editing some other file (config file, framework file, etc.)
So I'm trying a post in the development section. Hopefully they don't kill it. I have included careful instructions on how to install this stuff, and my progress so far with the dialer. If other people keep trying, hopefully we can figure it out. I can say that just installing that contacts.apk will probably not work, since contactsprovider.apk is almost certainly needed.

This error is because the nand partition isn't mounted yet. Issue "adb remount" before.
It will clearly work with a rooted EVO Rom. See the thread below for an example:

Yes, it certainly CAN work. I wish some of the people that have made it work in those ROMs would follow up with us and let us know.
Most interesting thing so far: in that thread I posted in the dev section, someone said it worked with pre 1.47 OTA ROMs. I'm hoping to try a few things soon to see when it does or doesn't work.
Fresh 0.53 is a Pre 1.47 Rom. I've been trying with that for almost a month. I even tried porting over the files you listed in your other thread. All I get is force closes.
Hey guys, I've done a bit of rom modding before, but something I've never figured out is how to tell what libs are associated with an app. If it is possible, how hard is it to do? Is there an app or program to quickly determine it?
Thanks!

I've been curious about the same thing and have done a lot of searching without any good results. Hopefully someone can chime in for us.
First of all, thanks for reading my post. I will try to be the clear as i can, non native english here
I have a D806, with KitKat and i'm using Skala View just fine. For the ones who doesn't know, Skala View is a software only for mac to share pictures (designs) directly to my phone over wifi. In osx it's called Skala Preview and in Android it's called Skala View.
So, the thing is that in KitKat works fine, but in lollipop doesn't. I'm posting this here because it seems it's a cm12-related bug. It can be?. I asked some people using official Lollipop in Nexus 5 and the app works. So i'm guessing this is a lg g2-cm12-lollipop bug, i don't know.
It's maybe a rom feature-bug? I can't get any help from bjango (the creators of the app) because i'm the only one getting this problem.
The problem is that i don't get my mac (In this case hackintosh but don't make any difference) recognized. When i tap the icon for detecting mac's it says 'No computers avaiable'. So i went back again to KitKat and works again.
I hope someone figure this out, because i'm getting this issue with this particular app.
Thank you very much
Flashed other rom variant and still doesn't work.
I use Mac OS X Yosemite here, if you want I can test it for you, but look, CM12 although it's very stable is not even in Nightlies yet so if this kind of stuff doesn't work yet is completly normal. Maybe I'm wrong in this case but... If this is an specific feature you can take a look at the sources and report back, so we can try to figure out a way to solve this, or not

I know the current state and i'm very glad of how things are going, our devs are the best.
I just made this thread to check if it's only a cm12-lgg2 bug, or a general cm12 bug. I wasn't aware that this kind of bugs in particular apps were possible.
Anyone else who can help me with this before i do something with my phone?

If Viper is activated, you will see the notification by default unless you disabled it. It really depends on the version of Viper and which Rom you are using. Basically, In Viper go to settings and check "Show Notification" > On
In the OS system menu go to search, type notifications.

When you have issues, and need some help it's usually a good idea to provide more information such as your phone model, which Rom are you using, what mods are installed etc. For example, the instructions for the stock rom is quite different than a custom Rom.
Also, if you are using a custom Rom, it is better to ask the question within that Roms forum. As you can see by the number of days that have passed since you first asked the question, you will not get alot of help by making a post with little to no information. There is just a few people who regularly check these Questions.
If you are using custom rom, and everything is activated. Then you very likely have installed some type of utility/cleaning/battery saving tool that is blocking the notification.
If you are using EUI, then the program called: Phone manager is the app that is blocking the notification.

I am using EUI, Helio x27 - Le Pro 3 LEX650.
Never rooted.
I can't find the app Phone Manager (if that is what is blocking the app to run in background)
?

Its absolutely the built-in phone manager. I cant provide the link at the moment, because I am busy. But, if you Google search " resolving LeEco EUI notification issues"
You should quickly be able to find the step by step resolution. A lot of people experienced that same issue with various programs.
If you can't find it, I can post the link later tonight.
Sent from my LEX727 using XDA Labs

I am no longer using EUI, and I can not test this potential fix.

Thank you BUT most of the battery settings does not exist on my phone ?!?
I don't understand why no one else cares about the alert slider mod anymore. As of now, the slider is basically useless to me because I have to be reachable 24/7, so silent mode is unusable. Tying Dnd to the alert slider was an issue in the past because Dnd can be scheduled in software. But those of us that work completely different hours all the time would much rather have the simple hardware switch, and no software timers at all!
I can almost understand this not being possible without root, but with root, ANYTHING should be possible. As I noted here, functionality can be added to the switch, but no amount of Googling and probing around on my own could find a way to disable the built in functionality, but there HAS to be a way. I heard some custom ROMs have it, but not sure which ones. Maybe OnePlus devs tied it directly into the code for the ringer control in A10?
Anyone interested in developing this, even for money?
Anyone have any ideas?
Or know which custom roms have this

If you use Tasker, there are some Tasker scripts out there, and you can modify it to do what you want.

I haven't tried any a10 ROMs but I recall every pie rom I used having this feature. I would be shocked if it were different with 10. Try a couple and see what you like not terribly time consuming and can always revert to a backup of stock exactly how your phone is currently set up if you don't find what you want. Good luck

Yes, I mentioned that in the opening post, but as far as I know, you can't "unlink" the slider functionality from ringer control, making the Tasker integration almost useless. But thanks.

Thanks. Good to hear it's well supported. I don't understand why it's so easy for custom ROMs to have this feature, yet so hard to back-port the feature to stock OOS.
Seems overboard to change ROMs for one thing, doesn't it?

I recall in the early days of this device that it was a common mod, I just don't think anyone kept up with the constant oos updates. Don't quote me on that though I could be mistaken.
