Questions about my version H870I - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello everyone, I have the LG G6 64GB 4GB H870I , I wonder what's the difference between it and the European model.
How can I find out if it came with Hi Res DAC (probably not) or QI Charging ?
What I know:
It's made in Brazil.
CPU-Z reports Model: LG-H870I (lucye_global_com)
Board: msm8996
OTB it booted with LG G6ThinQ logo, Oreo 8.0.0, July 1st Security Patch, V20a-BRA-XXX
What are my options here?
The only real thing bothering me is that I don't see the Dolby Vision logos in the Netflix app, so I'm thinking that it's not detecting it. I've tested Dolby Vision with a LG demo .ts video and it worked beautifully. I wonder how Netflix reads the DV availability, and yeah, QI would be nice to have.
Thanks in advance everyone.

Ummm.... GOOGLE.

[Q] Is the LG G2 aptx compatible?

Hello!
I always use my smartphones with my HTC Stereoclip in my car,it's a necessity to have BT with aptx to get the best sound possible,so I want to know if the LG G2 is aptx compatible or not.
Anyone tried it with HTC Stereoclip?
Yes, if u search here, there's a thread telling u how to enable it. I don't remember where.... sorry man...
With my LG HBS-730 the sound is awesome
Curios about this too. I recent bought aptx compatible headphones but I still find the quality not tell good. Some sources say that the g2 has aptx but how do we activate it?

The 2 sources saying it's a[tx ready are not reliable,it looks like plain copy/paste specs for smartphones.
No LG smartphone has aptx till date (at least officially)
I heard the BT audio is great with G2 on non-aptx devices but it's not the case with aptx receivers or earphones.
aptx is a BT codec it should be active by default on your smartphone,it's not an app that can add it but it's a driver that works with the BT chip
There's aptx logo in the box, so it must be compatible.
Yes it is....see link one down

On my LG G2 D802 box, there is apt X logo. It should be compatible.
aptx compatible
I sent an E-mail to LG service to be sure, before buying a new bluetooth headseat which use aptx, that my LG G2 (D802) is aptx compatible as is it written on the box.
I received the answer (the next day, great after sale service) and, yes it is.

B&O promo earphones are NOT Android compatible?

Pre-ordered from VZ and was looking at reviews for the H3 by B&O PLAY and find they are only iPhone feature compatible. A few mentions that the volume, mic, etc. don't work with android phones. Couldn't find a version or model that was Android. Hoping that LG is not dumb enough to send out a version that B&O didn't update for the V20 which is Android? Long shot but anyone out here with a set of these earbuds and an android phone who can chime in? Hope the reviews I read were mistaken or the v20 will uniquely work with these.
Maybe contact B&O directly and see what they say?

Scroll down to the specs, there's two variants, one for Android, another for iOS:

The one's we're getting look to be specifically for the LG V20,as the name in the link from LG's offer page shows:

[SOLVED] Bluetooth - aptX codec

I am interested in high quality bluetooth audio and aptX /aptX HD are preferred codec protocols for that. Now that Qualcomm acquired CSR, they own the aptX technology. On their web page there is an aptX compatibility link, where, for Motorola Phones we can see listed Moto G and Moto X, but the pictures are from the first generation phones.
For "aptX HD" I found only the latest flagship LG phones and Luna.
Is there a way to include support for aptX in our phones?

I don't believe there is. Sometimes I'm amazed at some of the simple and cheap things they left off these phones. At the manufacturer's level we're talking pennies on some things.
I have asked Qualcomm about the Moto G4 Plus and Moto X Pure (2015) and they where nice to answer this:
"Hi, yes Moto phones should support aptX, although we haven’t done any testing on these devices."
Since Qualcomm bought CSR in 2014, I don't see any development in that direction.
LE: New email from Qualcomm support:
"We do internal IOP testing on customer products but they have not provided us with Moto devices sorry."
Makes sense, only the real Moto cared to send their devices for testing. The following owners of the Moto brand (Google and Lenovo) are not interested in quality testing as much.
Capturing the bluetooth communication between phone and some aptX capable headphones and, after that, Wireshark that file, resulted in the information that Moto G4 is aptX capable!
Kudos to AlphaDog: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G4-Moto-G4-Plus-Moto-G4/Bluetooth-aptX-support/m-p/3488442#M10779
If this is aptX compatible, it should be aptX HD compatible as well.
Try flashing this mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-aptx-hd-bluetooth-hi-res-audio-t3501991
That mod seems to have worked on my G4 Plus. Now I just need a Bluetooth sink device (speakers headphones) capable of aptX HD, to verify.

Did you have a chance to verify if aptX is working after applying the fix?
AptX it works. Checked it with a few soundbars at BestBuy. Now, the AptX HD is a different story since there is only one type of LG headphones that supports it, nothing else on market. So I couldn't find a pair to test it.
Hi, are there any results?

LG G6 Home Launcher (UX+) for any device?

Dears,
recently I purchased a old-fastion LG G Flex 2 32GB and I fallen in love again for the UI I don't want to buy a G6, I have already got the XZ Premium DS and most of all the Mi Mix 6GB the "device candidate for"... the installation of the LG Home.
I looked around and the APK available aren't supported... did we have any guide/tutorial for a porting about the full LG Home Experience with Android 7?
Cheers (and thank you)

No official Android Pie update coming...

For those who are expecting Android Pie in a future update, LG just released a new info about the expected devices that will be updated for this Android version - Q2 2019
Without any surprise, G6 is not in that list:
Original: https://www.lge.co.kr/lgekor/contents/mobile/swUpgradeDetail.do?swSeq=1070~
Google Translate: https://translate.google.pt/transla...contents/mobile/swUpgradeDetail.do?swSeq=1070
So... for those who still are waiting for a official update, better start looking for a custom ROM or new phone :crying:
They said in q3. Anyway oreo, pie is basically same **** for the end user, the usual apps will work the same, same functions, etc
The site is not available anymore. Have you found other sources for LG G6 not getting Pie?

Greetings G6'ers. I am on Stock Oreo and I am experiencing various lags and stutters. I have done a factory reset but to no avail. Will a reset via PC and LG Bridge be any different?
When the Pie update comes should I install it via OTA?
I just got this reply from LG.grrr!!
"Good morning Matthew,*
I am sorry to say that Android 8.0 Oreo is the last software update that the LG G6 will likely receive. Frustratingly, head office do not share software update release dates nor their recipient models with us here at LG UK customer services, so we cannot confirm definitively that this is the case. However, I have consulted our technicians, and they do believe that Android 9.0 Pie will be primarily and exclusively rolled out to our 2018 and 2019 models. It is therefore improbable that the LG G6 will receive Android 9.0 Pie.
I apologise profusely for any disappointment or frustration caused.*

Wow am I surprised :-/ NOT
LG's strategy is to have an upgrade cycle so slow, so that suddenly 2 years pass from a model's release (even though Pie has already been out for a year) then they give an excuse they don't support it any more because its an old model.
It's not very good service given that the phone was a flagship model.
Oh well, the phone still serves me well, but it would be nice to get the latest upgrade.....
i thought LG promised pie for LG G6.. And the LG G5 wont recessive any more updates...
To anyone disappointed ,THIS INFORMATION IS WRONG
there have already been official Lg g6 Android 9 beta builds released.you'll get pie latest by the end of September. Everyone just needs to wait
I got the same reply by lg support center, and they are saying convincedly that g6 will be stuck on oreo 8.0
What's the truth?
the truth is Lg will update the G6 to android 9 pie, Lg Korea just has no communication to the lg uk so they are under the impression it won't get any updates as there is no information on it on their servers & from their software support team.
it will come 100% this year.
That's not even Oreo let alone Pie. You can tell by the boot screen. Its supposed to say thinQ which is what the LG G6 has been rebranded to.
It's a beta, therefore incomplete.. the beta will likely not have the full branding stuff. Not saying that it's real or fake, just saying that's not an indicator.

Are you really certain, is there any way to get confirmation from the korean support center about this? I really want to know if to sell my g6 or wait untill september
