Clarity/resolution - Honor 8X Real Life Review

The Honor 8X has a crazy crisp display. Just kidding, this is automated text so who knows if this screen is any good. So, you be the judge! A higher rating indicates that it's extremely sharp and clear, and that you cannot see pixels with your naked eye.

Anybody notice halo around the notch like fine black shadow on a white screen it's more visable is this common on all devices?

Dont feel such issue. may be individual hardware issue?

Anyone notice slight motion blur when watching videos? Like the refresh rate is lagging? I've noticed this on YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, so I don't think it's app specific. I haven't seen anyone else complain so maybe it's just me. Thx.

You can see barely pixels if you get very close so that's good but there is light bleed around the notch and at the bottom.

someone knows how to saturate the screen of honor 8x more, it brings an option that according to saturates it more but the difference is not noticed and I want more saturated colors, (without root)

The 3120X1440 display shows almost 4K like clarity. Could be the 2nd best display after Super AMOLED. Also very easy/pleasant to the eye, that made me prefer G7's gorgeous display over Galaxy S9's display.

I wonder if the screen on the iPhone XR is related to the LG G7? Seems like similar technology, but dumbed down on the iPhone.
is this display too cold? bluesih?

Lots of available adjustments if too cold/blue for your tastes.
Go to Settings/Display/Comfort View to remove any excess blue light. Also, under Settings/Display/Screen Color/Color Temperature you can make the appearance cooler or warmer.

Good overall, but what is with the rounded corners? They are distracting, and once you notice them, you can not un-notice that there is screen missing in each corner. I had to go to a black wallpaper so that it wouldn't drive me crazy.
I'd describe it as average. Colours are good but resolution is too low with a PenTile screen, as text looks quite blurry. It's roughly equivalent to a 720p LCD in terms of sharpness.

This is the first time I use a phone that has Amoled screen. I heard about color shifting which happens to Amoled screen but I still curious. Does color shifting happen to your devices ?
For mine, when I tilt the phone, even a little bit, I see the blocks of color turn from blue (cool) to pink (warm) and backward. This only happens on white background. If the view angle is 90 degree, its fine. But if it greater or smaller than that, about 60 degree, it's just like a rainbow is moving. Kind of annoying

Please post some pictures of the display at different viewing angles.
Ive been using OLED screens for the last couple of years, mostly from Samsung, as is the one on the Mi 9 SE. They have never had any issue of the sort. I have however seen such a thing on the panels used in Blackberry phones.
The SE seems like the only device out this year that ticks my boxes as far as size and display quality, i would dearly like to know if sammy is delivering sub par screens here.
I have to say i am skeptical, so some proof would be appreciated.

Interesting. I've never used a phone with an amoled screen, but sounds like this would put me off.
Not sure if any stores here in the UK have the mi9se that I could try out before purchasing.
Pocophone I've just bought is lovely, but just a little too big for me coming from a mi6,which is why I'm considering the mi9 se.
No headphone socket though.!

Lets see if its actually true first. Here is a very detailed review that includes many angles on the display, none show any color shifting:

That review also has some interesting info about the notification handling and the state of the currently available ROMs.

Sorry about vid quality, I recorded it by RMN 3
You can see the color turn into warm and cool blocks when I change view angle vertically

it's hard to see much wrong with that.
are you looking too hard for problems...?

Honestly I'm not seeing a big problem there... But the resolution isn't great. Someone below said the A50 display at the store was better but it too has an original Sammy screen, also manufactures in Vietnam.
Mb a good quality photo?
Also, what about the issue with the notifications? Ant solution for it other than AOD?

1 month used and I think I get use to it. Maybe after I checked Mi 8, it also has the same issue. So I guess this is actually not an issue anymore
I also hope for solution replacing notification light. Heard alot about "the dot" but after many attemps with many apps, the choosen one is still missing I guess.
I have a Pixel 3. The Mi 9 SE, despite technically having a lower PPI value, is noticeably sharper. I imagine this is because it's not using the Pentile layout that the Pixel 3 screen has.

I find the screen is much sharper compared to my note 9 and tab s6.
You can see the finer details in the video and textures, but this due to the higher resolution and calibrated screens.
I don't believe the ultravision engine works with everything just select few apps in my opinion as it did not make a difference.

When this came out had the best display on any phone. 1bn colors, stupid bright especially watching HDR blueray movies. 120hz and high resolution + high touch response. Top specs!!

The display is pure [email protected] for me. The resolution is too low for this size. The colors are perfect on other hand, but then there are the BLACK CRUSH and the green / magenta tint problems. So the display is [email protected] Good job Asus...
The most beautiful looking mobile phone screen I've seen yet!
Everything is so crisp and clear.
Fly in the ointment is the Black Crush issue...
After updating manually to the latest firmware ww-17.0823.2012.131, BC is a lesser.
It's still not as crisp as my OnePlus 7T.
NB, prior to updating firmware... I updated my Netflix (where BC was most apparent) to HD and this in itself made things a little cleaner looking.
I'm thinking if I upgraded to HDR+ on Netflix the BC bug woukd probably be a non issue.
