Hello guys,
So recently I've been tempted of buying the V20 Tmobile edition from eBay refurbished, but I've heard of people mentioning that the thermal paste sucked, but if I'm getting it refurbished that should be fine. However, I just wanted to ask how PUBG mobile runs on this phone? I have an old Samsung Note 3 but it's nearly reaching its end. Of course I Greenified and installed Lineage on it, but if I get this phone and root it with Greenify, can it run PUBG at over 40 FPS on Medium settings? Been trying to look for this in the past few days.
Let me know guys
I play a lot of PUBG. I am using 990DS. On stock ROM it was almost unplayable for me due to lag. I rooted and use Super V20 rom with Mk2000 kernel and thermal throttling fix. My main reason for rooting was to fix lag. It runs fine now. But there are a few frames dropped on medium settings usually and sometimes(very rarely) there's some lag.
PS: I also use greenify.
Haven't tried PUBG with lineage OS or RR ROM.
So wait for the Super V20 rom can it use the second screen or not? And have you tried using the Gfx Tool for Pubg or not?

Super V20 is stock based rom, so yes 2nd screen works. I tried Resurrection remix rom with second screen support, it worked decently as well. For AOSP roms second screen is work in progress.
Haven't tried gfx tool yet. Wil try and let you know.
Edit: just read that they've started banning accounts using gfx tools, so won't try it lol.
But I'm happy with performance so didn't install gfx too earlier.

So wait can it do high fps for it though? I'm stuck with Medium fps for note 3. Yea I uninstalled it too was just wondering the demographic for people that are using it.
I play PubG and it plays normal to me and I even play Guns of Boom set to 60fps and runs perfect.
On pure unrooted stock rom, when I play games, the phone gets terribly hot AF and that's not good at all although V20 plays games well. I rooted and use Super V20 Rom with thermal throttle fix, mk200 betal kernal, updated Vulkan gpu driver, Greenify, Amplify. Games run perfect still but without the extreme heat ups. RR rom is a straight NoNo for gaming, too laggy, everything else in it works great but not for gaming.. Lineage 15.1 os too is a NoNo for gaming. Stick to custom stock roms like Super, Alpha or Weta. I recommend Super out of all, Alpha is buggy, Weta is garbage because the dev removes Bloatware but installs abunch of 3rd party Bloatware.....lol.... and if u remove the garbage in that rom your left with more bugs. SUPER is ?.

How is PUBG with the new stock Oreo update? Of course with Greenify and Magisk. Or unless that hasn't came out yet for your carrier. It seems like Super is the best rom out there by my research.
I play on rr with gammar kernel and it runs well
ps I didn't Kno the game was so good

I don't know yet bro, I have the H918 variant, stock Oreo hasn't came out yet but very soon it should be released like any time now to a couple weeks.
I barely noticed the Alpha stock nougat ROM has been reopened and there's a newer update of it released. Haven't tried that out yet. Not sure if I should try it cuz Super rom is pretty dang good.

Where did you get mk2000 kernel for Nougat? I see only Oreo https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h918-h910-us996-ucl-mk2000-kernel-t3708330 Super is only Nougat. My device is H990DS.

So, i've been having some stuttering problems since the phone came. i know it's not a hardware related issue, because i can play some heavy games like nova or late game sim city (damn there's buildings ) and i just face some heatings, which i think is fine, especialy because of where i live. But for most apps (i.e. chrome, twitter, whatsapp... i didn't have it on facebook, and i don't have it on instagram, launcher, mail apps) i'm facing major stuttering, like a pc without proper gpu drivers. it just drags and cuts the screen around, it's so annoying. Is anyone facing a problem like this? workarounds?
yes i have this problem too(bad scrolling (some lag) ) , i hate when i scroll my Instagram feeds , anyone have a solution ?
I don't notice any lag but then again any phone is smooth compared to the LG G Flex 2 I am coming from.
Me too. This is really annoying. Even for chrome.

i don't experience lag neither, the overall experience is smooth, apps run faster than my finger can click, the phone is truly responsive. i'm talking about scrolling smoothness, reading through a page on chrome, scrolling instagram... those things are really sluggish.
Snapchat, gaming, typing, tweeting... everything else that doesn't require scrolling is smooth af.
i install acip and just wow it's amazing and smooth my phone is flying now i recommend to you to install ACIP then you can see huge difference .(all scroll is smoooooooth like a play on butter ) i loving my instagram better than ever

What kind of problems? i'm thinking of a rom to avoid moto update bloat with those pesky wakelocks, but i can't find a rom that works on my br xt1572.
I didn't believe it at first, but I am too getting stuttery scrolling when using Chrome on stock ROM with stock kernel. I frequent a few sites a lot, and noticed it right away on them, even when cleared of ads. A supposed fix is to disable some apps' services turned on under Settings > Accessibility, but that fix is no good for me since I don't have anything set to on under there.
I would love to go back to Frankenclark, but we have to wait for Moto to push the update to GitHub.
There is definitely something wrong with stock MM & web browsing & I've noticed stuttering in animations all throughout the MM OS. I didn't experience any scrolling lag or OS stuttering when I tested Orion rom, I only experience this annoying problem when I'm using a stock rom or a stock-based rom regardless of kernel whether it be stock or otherwise.
Spastic, strangely I had a greenify thing under accessibility, unchecked that and (some of the) smoothness is now back... I mean, it's still stuttering, but way better than before. I need a cientific explaining about that lol.
Now I gotta found the next option to uncheck, so I can unlock full smoothness
Moto voice seems to cause a lot of these issues on mm
I've been complaining about the stutters and lag since MM was released and everyone said I was crazy! Even with a custom kernel you cannot completely rid the device of the stutters, but you can reduce them slightly. Stock Lollipop with the custom kernel that is available for LP was super smooth for me. All of the custom ROMs have the same stutters accept OrionOS. But it's severely lacking in features ATM.
---------- Post added at 11:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:55 AM ----------
My suggestion is return to LP stock with that custom kernel, and be happy with it. The theme was the only thing I hated on LP, and MM could use layers to change the theme which was cool. But MM is just too laggy.

Ikr, every post I've seen you in, you were complaining about it, but I didn't had lag at first, so I think is some app or function that is causing this stutter. Everything is super smooth at first...
Yeah, I wiped and went to LP then took the update to MM, and didn't install anything, and it seemed better. I installed just Pandora, and it streamed fine. So one of my apps, or app data must be breaking my ability to stream music on stock MM. Maybe Gravity box.

Are you currently in MM?
idk about you, but when i installer xposed, i faced major lag, sutter, 3~4 seconds to open apps, random fcs... i uninstalled gravity box and most of these issues were solved, but the lag was only solved after i completely removed xposed framework. Strangely, this has already happened to me with a Sony xperia X8, Galaxy nexus (maguro), and motorola defy. i'm never lucky with xposed. But with the nexus, most of the issues were solved by removing gravity box. i know a whole lot of people like too much gravity box and see it as a must have, but it has been the source of many issues i had in the past, since i've never make it work properly, i don't miss the customization.
Not saying GB is the root problem for your streaming issue, but i would avoid it.

I'm not, I'm on custom ROMs now that they have working camera and flashlight and pentiful ROM options. But I would be interested in running MM with my full set up, and no Xposed to see if it works fine. Just sucks, because with LP I could use gravity box and it was still smooth.
Hi everyone.
These days mostly every C.ROM has game lagging issues.
Whether it's AEX or Tesla.
(I mentioned the name of these two ROMs 'cause these ROMs used to be my favourite ones).
Every ROM lags, some lags high some lags low.
Not only lagging, also there's an internet slow issue.
Which makes it very irritating for a gamer.
(Games such as Clash of Clans, or 8 Ball Pool).
The ROM works fine in daily usage, but at gaming point almost every ROM has issues.
What is causing device to lag while playing games?
Also, why device's internet goes down when playing games or when device is hot?
MIUI ain't has such lagging or internet issues.
(I'm not saying MIUI is best, it's bad at many points such as Memory Management, Notification Management, Heavy UI, Android Updates, Bloated.. But after having so much bad in it, It has stability for no lagging, or internet)
I just wanna ask devs/users, why is it so?
I know, MIUI is stable because of it's kernel, and Xiaomi doesn't release kernel sources.
But when there is no lagging issues in day to day usage, then why is there so much lagging in Games?
Try Mokee 7, no lag in games, i.e. Clash Royale.
Thanks for this post dude...

I tried to use 2 operating system in my phone.

But managing 2 Roms in once is a waste of time.

I did it today, flashed Jerrica Kernel for MiUi by Premaca (this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-2/development/kernel-jerrica-v1-1-t3395691). The ROM I've used is: "Version: V8.5.2.0.LHJMIED (MIUI8) - Stable" from official site http://en.miui.com/download-261.html (the developer one takes me to bootlop :/)

Yup bootloop issues have been faced by too many users,
That kernel work's only for older Miui 8 version, miui 8.5etc won't work.
if you're facing lags try one of my favourite trick
Just delete thermal management algorithm that exist on nougat based ROMS, its located at system/etc/thermal-engine.conf. so you will gain no lags when the phone's getting hot. At the cost of more battery drainage but for me that's worth it. Also if you're facing WiFi disconnecting problem try port wifi configuration from MIUI ROM in, system/etc/wifi copy all itu system, and set permission to rw-r-r, make sure you backup the orig file in case you need it. I always that when using nougat based ROM. Now switched to MIUI due to stability. I currently using octopus kernel and double tap 2 wake works like charm on MIUI 8.5.2.0

Yep, its a serious problem with the OnePlus 5.
Animations, scrolling, everything is a mess on Oxygen OS, to the point where I have unlocked my bootloader to try non-OOS based ROMs.
This thing stutters more than my old S7 Edge, and the Note 8 is significantly smoother than this.
Awesome example of how poor OOS is currently:
Go into Pocket Casts, subscribe to a podcast, open your subscriptions, tap on a tile. The simple animation will stutter like crazy as it opens. Same with play store.
Scrolling is atrocious for such a high specced device. 8GB/SD835 means nothing if smoothness is the worst by far out of any android flagship.
I couldn't even get an answer out of OnePlus support if Oreo would fix things.
Yup, the overall is experience is kinda jittery and laggy, my iPhone 6 and even my Nexus 5 are way smoother.
I've found OOS to be a lot smoother with Blu Spark kernel but even then OOS is so unstable that several times out of nowhere some system wake lock would suddenly go wiggy and prevent the phone from going into Doze. It's happened on three different builds of OOS and it was a different wake lock each time and caused massive idle battery drain. I haven't found any way to fix it other than doing a clean flash of OOS and fresh install of my apps. OOS isn't stable enough to be the stock operating system on any Android phone, let alone a $600 one that advertises itself as a flagship killer.
Don't know what you talking about, I never see a single lag/stutter in my OP5 and actually like OOS even coming from Stock Android (Nexus 6P)

Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with this phone. I also flashed to LineageOS to see how it would perform compared to OxygenOS, but have you noticed what I noticed? It's still Jitters bits. I have eventually got it smooth with tweaking the kernel settings around until it would scroll smooth. What has me confused is that it happened when I switched rom still, and even after trying a different kernel it still would stutters while scrolling.. so it has me really confused as to what the problem is.
My kernel setup is butter smooth in LineageOS, but only help OxygenOS a bit as it still slightly stutters. It's smooth in chrome, but certain apps like Instagram still stutters on OOS

yeah noticed this also on stock OOS. IDK whether this is just placeboo effect or not, but it feels much smoother now on my current set-up (xXx ROM + ElementalX Kernel)
Running stock oos with simple gx wouldn't be happier I actually came back from the non oos roms because I missed the smoothness and app opening animations from stock oos .... could you give me an example of UI jitters or where it occurs because I haven't run into any problems . Speaking of chrome smoothness scrolling could be better but I am fine in instagram Reddit (boost app) and wouldn't complain as per opening of play store is also smooth with opener game of apps from play store is fine as well .

Hi, does anyone have the problem that when you're in a 64 bit ROM like Pixel Experience or Xperience and you have lag? Like when you activate night light without activating ? Any solution? Thanks
Sorry for bad English
If you're talking about lag in system, yes, lots of us are facing it. I think only 2gb models have this trouble.
The system is struggling because of the lack of RAM. 64bit requires at least 3-4GB of RAM to be decent. I run x64 on mine, and the only time I ever really see any issues is when its night time, almost like its a memory leak. I reboot, and its fine for another 24 hours before it becomes unusable. I am running Pixel Experience.

The lag is NOT because of the lack of RAM, rather it's optimisation. The Nexus 5x run 64bit ROMS just fine. That phone came out in 2015 with 2GB of RAM and shipped with 64bit marshmallow and happily runs anything above that.
I have a XT1622, system was using 0,7~1,1GB of RAM so there was plenty of RAM to be used. There was approximately 400MB free all time. I don't think RAM is the problem. After some CPU testing at AICP I reduced the lag by changing the Governor to Performance, which uses A LOT of battery, but it didn't get rid of the lag just made it smoother.
Obs: The lag that I'm talking about is only System lag and it's weird because when the screen is locked and you pull the quick settings it's smooth but after you unlock the phone, you pull the quick settings and there's a crazy lag. It's like playing a game with 10FPS.

This is why I think it's an optimisation problem rather than a hardware issue. Apps and games are smoother than nougat for me but the recents menu, notification area (When unlocked) and launcher lag like crazy and I have no idea why.

Hello again, since my last post I've been using Stock 7.0 + ElementalX Kernel + Magisk + Xposed + Gravity Box. Super smooth and shiet but I like theming and customising fonts, so yesterday I tested AICP 8.1 and I felt some improvements, the RAM usage was better (700MB System), the lag wasn't gone but it felt smoother. Now I'm on RR 7.1.2. I'm facing some random reboots but I'll try to grab some logs to dev. If I don't get rid of those reboots I'll jump to AICP and deal with the lag.

Just for information: don't post logs with the mods you mentioned here. Logs are only useful to troubleshoot if your rom is installed without any modifications.

Try AICP nougat if you want a smooth, stable experience.
Since there are no manufacturer drivers (blobs) for 64 bit, just ported form other devices, the x64 is a poor choice for this phone.

:good:
I think that it's a optimisation problem, cuz I'm on aicp, is so smooth and battery life is so good.
Please any one suggested me which rom (rom + kernel or rom+kernel+cooling mod)i sould flash for better pubg mobile experience with minimum heating issue..and decent battery drain...i flashed many custom rom like pixel experience,r.remix rom, lineage os,droid os,nitrogen os,oxygen os,dot os,pixys os,aex os,aicp rom..and flash ubercool kernel for reduced overheating..but overheating heating issue i can't solved..pls help..how to reduce maximum heating and play pubg smoothly
Msm extended pie. Most of the time temp between 35° to 40°. Best SOT. 5-6 hours. I don't play pubg. So no comment about playing pubg. Sometimes play fifa14. Temp doesn't rise.
ZUI 4 deodexed latest. PUBG tested.
I guess you (OP) haven't searched the forum or paid attention to threads like this, https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/how-to/z2-plus-stable-buggy-rom-regular-t3821962
There are many posts already listing setup as per different use cases.
I am using Pixys OS 2.4 (No extra mod, kernel or ROOT) December 2018 releases since last 3/4 months now. Stays well withing ambient temperature of Kolkata while doing most of my use without gaming. PubG heats up the device but then again, I only play PubG indoors so works fine with me.
You can have a look at my review of this ROM here, written almost 4 months ago, still valid since I am with the same setup till now.

There are no perfect ROM with master of all trade. Most of the ROMs are stable enough but being custom, different people likes different ROM based on their requirements, so keep trying to find the suitable and stick with that which full fills your requirements !!
Thanks.
