Meizu 5 Pro has best processor of Android (Exynos 7420), sd card, nice AMOLED screen with 1080P, great battery (4th on battery life tests this year), and great price also (450 Euros).
But is Meizu....
¿Do you think is a good buy?
Or would be better a Huawei 6P with
Google support for two years and stereo speakers
Better camera and screen
but
Worse battery and processor
No sd
More expensive (200 euros more)
¿Does Meizu give software support with latest Android? ¿Which one you prefer? (you can put other smarthphones on the equation also)
I want to answer your question by comparing both phones in each category.
Design:
I started with design part because, for me it's very important part. I like meizu pro 5 design much more than 6p not saying 6p is not good but, 2.5D glass with looking similar to Iphone in front is not a bad thing in meizu and better than 6p here. I prefer Fingerprint as a home button on meizu at the front much more than in 6p at the back. ( Not to mention how innovative home button of meizu will change the way of using this phone when you getting used to it and you cannot compare it with any other android phone). Also design of meizu at the back is also more beautiful in my opinion as it's a little similar to htc one series. Also 10g less weight in meizu should be a little more suitable in hand.
Camera:
About camera in meizu it does pretty decent job in good light maybe even better than 6p specially better in detail comparison but, in low light you should either use manual mode or accept quality of auto mod which is not bad but, differently 6p is better but, not much better.
Selfie with front camera is definitely better (more detail) in 6p but, for internet both do good job here.
Processor:
The main problem in 6p is qualcomm 810 processor which is a big no for me specially compare to Exynos 7420 which is arguably the best in the market for now (even compare to karin 950) and you will never feel a hot phone in your hand or lag due to hot temperature of cpu and much more energy efficient than Q 810. (Not fan of Antutu benchmarks but, recently Meizu take the crown from Huawei karin 950 chipset in Huawei Mate 8!)
Softwere:
On the other hand meizu apparently is new to world market and cannot support their phone like google but, in future with custom roms it will be okay I think (do not expect near future!) Meizu does not come with unlock bootloader and apparently there is no way to unlock it and it may take so long to either someone manage to unlock it (very difficult + lack off good developers due to less popularity of meizu and the phone itself) or company give us a way to do it so, do not except support of developers or company like 6p. Meizu will definitely upgrade meizu pro 5 to marshmallow but, time is unknown.
Also if you really like pure android experience which I don't! heavily skin of Flyme OS on top of android in meizu may become a big problem for you. Lack of app drawer or design of home screen or even default apps are not a big deal as you can get a good launchers now a day specially with htc sense launcher and apps but, other part like setting menu and notification drawer and etc will be always the flyme one!
Screen
Comparing the screen, there should not be much differences as both phones using very similar amoled technology and panel. Yes 2k vs full hd but, 2k display of 6p is not as good as samsung new flagships like gs6 or note 5. Brightness of both phones are almost similar. I don't think you will notice the differences here in display part in daily usage because, differences of 2k displays are not very recognizable in human eyes in phones bellow 7" screens. But, if it does for you it's just a little more sharper but, not better in contrast, color and etc.
In 6p you will get gorilla glass 4 which is better when you drop the phone and can manage much more pressure here but, not as good as gorilla glass 3 (meizu pro 5) in scratch resistance part. If you use screen protector no problem here for both phones.
Audio:
Yes 6p has dual speaker in front which is more suitable when watching something or listening to musics with speakers but, meizu on the other hand support Hi-Fi audio so, provide much better quality sound specially when you plug a headphone which 6p was unfortunately poor here.
Hardware/Connectivity/Network/Battery:
Lack of memory support is again a big downside of 6p compare to meizu plus 2 sim in meizu vs 1 in 6p (in meizu 2 sim if you don't use sd card) .
For connectivity both doing great and not very different here. You have more 4g bands support in 6p but, if you don't live in USA you will not loose here. Meizu definitely is much better in battery part as you know so, no more words here. Also meizu charge the battery a little faster than 6p specially if you charge 6p with retail charger in it's package which the plug is weaker than meizu fast charger plug. (No need to buy faster plug in meizu).
Okay I don't know if I left anything else and hope it helps you to choose the best option but, personally I will choose meizu here as you mention the price of 6p I don't think it wrote 200 euro more just for a little better camera, speaker and screen VS it's downs. But, if you cannot live without latest version of android and faster support of google or with Flyme OS of meizu better to go for 6p. ( The only real downside of meizu compare to 6p currently before unlocking the bootloader of pro 5)

If you look at the prices, i will go for Letv Lemax, the most powerful android phone, that will be out soon and will cost about 530 USD with new snapdragon 820 and with antutu benchmark about 120 000. It have 64/128GB ROM, 4GB ram, QHD dipley, 21 MPX camera, USB 3.0 type C, atc.

6.33-inch display! wow huge for a phone!
Plus 2 MP front camera is not good for selfie + not amoled screen + 3400mAh battery definitely is not good in 2k IPS LCD display and you should wait at least 3 more months if not more for outside of china; And 530 usd price (price of 32gb with no expandable storage) is unconfirmed and if it cost 530$ it will be in china not outside so, definitely expect 600$+
The only upside is the cpu which we don't know how well it's until it comes out plus OIS in camera. Qualcome did awful job in 810
I've used both and the camera on the Meizu is far better than the 6P.
Display 5.15" (resolution not specified)

Anyone planning to buy it?
Doesn't worth the value for money yet. If mi5s sources come out with official nougat rom I will stick with it for years.
I will wait for the global version, probably in about two months.

7.1.1. and it comes with an usb-c to jack adaptor.
Good:
Return of OIS
Expect that dual camera doesn't drop the quality compared to Mi5s camera.
Return of IR
7.1 at least
.84cm thinner
starts with 6gb ram
Bad:
Same dimensions, same screen size, same resolution. I expected the borders on top and bottom would be smaller.
No headphone jack
Price on online stores are too high compared to the "launch price".

I will sell my Mi5s if Mi6 became cheaper.
big hype before release....... looks/body same as my mi5s.
Very disapointing for me. Will hold on to my Mi5s, not worth to (up)grade to mi6

With released sources we could bump to standard cpu clock, antutu 170k like Oneplus 3T. Then, no point for me to upgrade to mi6 180k. Mi6 shouldn't bring quick charge 4? Weird. And 3.5 jack removal is a non sense for me. I will not buy usb earphones and will not walking around with an adapter. And 2.5d screen is already my biggest regret against mi5s, i miss screen glass protector. Also I'm not a fan of dual camera, too much dependency on software exactly where Xiaomi sucks. Mi6 bezel seems worst than mi5s, but have to confirm.

Exactly why i look forward to change my mi5s.
The camera has the potential but software just makes it look like a disappointment
So a new mobile released before source is even released for the Mi5S how crappy is that... never getting another flagship model phone from Xiaomi again lack of support and updates for the Mi5S is totally unacceptable
Looks like it's using the same fp reader as mi5s which kind of sucks
This probably means the Mi5S is soon dropping in price I'm very happy with mine (I don't have the fingerprint wake_lock issue for whatever reason) and it's a phone I gladly recommend my friends. Yes the camera could use OIS, but I've lived years without and am used to hold my phone still for pictures.
I do miss the headphone jack on the Mi6, but my main headphones are Bluetooth now, so it's no big issue for me. Still not going to buy it, because the Mi5S is more than good enough for me

Agree i had the OPX perfect size would jump at a OP5 5" version.
Xiaomi Mi6 has a nice design but those big bezels and lack of headphone jack is a problem. Let's see the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, hopefully with a screen 5.5" 1080p, CPU SD835, battery 3.5Ah, camera 16MP etc.!
Anyway no release of Kernel Source Code (KSC), no purchase! I'm still waiting for the KSC for my Mi5s to be released although it was introduced in the market in 09.2016! I'm very disappointed in Xiaomi.

'big bezels'? the bezels are on par with the average smartphone and yes they could have decreased the size but that would also mean less battery which is not something I would like to sacrifice. As for the headphone jack or lack thereof I am disappointed but I am willing to forgive xiaomi because unlike apple you cannot expect everything from a company that sells their flagships for half the price of regular flagships. for the price difference you could even buy yourself a quality audio player with a built in DAC and also a nice pair of headphones.
Anyone know what sensor is being used for the camera?
I just busted the screen and looking for an alternative.
The Xiaomi Note Redmi 4X while only being 5.5inches and an IPS screen, has roughly the same spec and I can get it for around 150USD at the moment.
Any other recommendations as I think I want a phone I can manage more easily in public.
I'll still use the Honor Note 8 at home for streaming videos and such as the cracks aren't luckily on the viewable area.
Xiaomi Mi Max or Mi Max 2
For long battery life Lenovo P2
Redmi Note 4X is enough for daily use, been superb in battery life here, especially if you have rooted and unlocked bootloader. Check our XDA Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon section, very large community and many devs supports, so much ROM you can choose. So much supports you can rely on if you like customizing things.
But if you have a little more budget you can take Lenovo P2, same specs but better display (AMOLED), Gorilla Glass, Battery monster and support fast charging. It's very reliable phone for daily use I think
Cheers guys, 4X looks solid as a budget phone and the P2 looks great with the extra battery and better screen. Just need to figure out if those features are worth double the price.
Just bought the Redmi 4X MTK 4GB version...
Quite dissapointed compared to the Honor Note 8 even though they are roughly the same gen spec.
Performance: Redmi lags opening a variety of apps, Note 8 is still snappy since the day I bought it
Interface: MIUI has no multi-browser support, seems clunky and lacking in options, EMUI is comprehensive and feature rich
Bluetooth: Redmi disconnects on occasion, Note 8 has never
Battery: Redmi drains from 100% to 0% in 8-9hours!, Note 8 lasts 24hours+ - 4100mAh vs 4500mAh, no comparison
Heat: Redmi sitting at 42C, Note 8 at 32C while both are charging, Redmi feels hot even when screen is off, Note 8 always seems cool
I'm looking to get my Note 8 screen fixed and sell the 4X. Only thing I like is the black on black and smaller foot print. Everything, and I mean everything else is better on the Honor Note 8.
The Redmi Note 4X has a Snapdraon 625 - are you sure it is a Mediatek SoC (i.e. the Helio X20), as this should only be present in the Chinese Note 4?
I have owned both the Helio X20 Note 4, Redmi Note 4X SD625 and Redmi Note 4 Global SD625 and battery life has been above average (X20) to fantastic (SD625) on these devices.

I would like to know if it's à good idea to switch from S7 to redmi note 7 And how is good thé Xiaomi in picture, screen, speakers, battery life, power compared to s7.
Thank you.
Didn't have an S7 but did have a Note 4 Exynos and Honor 8 before I got the Redmi Note 7phone.
Honestly, speed will probably feel about the same since S7 had the Snapdragon 820 processor.
Gaming performance will probably be about the same as well.
The screen isn't amoled so if that matters to you, you're probably better skipping the Redmi Note 7 and getting the Mi 8(snapdragon 845) or the newer Mi 9(snapdragon 855 with quad hd and dual speakers).
Either of those will definitely be an upgrade to your S7 in multiple ways...
Processor, functionality, performance, build quality, battery life, camera, gaming etc
Mi 8 can now be had for under $400 new as well if price matters to you
Thank you for responding.
My S7 is exynos one and I know that Mali GPU is more powerfull for gaming. S7 has à good display but it's too little and had burn in.
I want to know how is thé remdi's camera compared to S7 has a good One. My brother buyed à redmi Note 5 pro and S7 photos are much better

I'm not sure... S7 photos may be a little better since it was the flagship of the year a couple years back.
If you're worried about photos, I'd get the Mi 8 or if you can afford... Skip the Xiaomi budget line altogether and go straight for the The Mi 9.
Don't get me wrong... Redmi Note 7 or it's twin brother Mi 8 Lite are both spectacular phones especially for the money to value quotient. They pack a hell of a punch and are popular globally for a reason but coming from the S7, if you're not willing to compromise a little bit in the area of video and photo quality, you're better off shopping for a Xiaomi flagship.
Either phone (Mi 8 or Mi 9) is the flagship experience you want but the Mi 9 will blow you away and be the true upgrade you're looking for

I just got a Redmi Note 7 today, and it will replace a ZTE Axon 7 (Snapdragon 820, like the US version S7), so I'm in a similar position.
Haven't used it much yet, but initial impressions are very good. I just run some tests on both phones in Geekbench Pro, and the Redmi Note 7 won in some areas, while the Axon 7 still smoked it in some tests. You're right, the overall performance should feel pretty similar to the S7.
Benchmarks aside, I'm happy to have a new device that is fully up to date - stock Pie (that I'll dump in favor of LOS as soon as I'm able, haha), a big battery and efficient CPU, a really fast fingerprint scanner in a natural position (meaning NOT on the front), a big screen (any bigger wouldn't fit my pocket), VOLTE, a decent camera, and some support on XDA. It took me a while to decide to buy it because I was concerned about it not having an OLED screen but now I don't think it's going to be an issue - it looks good. Works with Mint Mobile (T-Mobile) here.
Only Day 1, but I'm satisfied so far, especially for $200!
RN7 is way better .. except for the sound quality and the weight (rn7 is heavy lol)
These guys have nailed it!
Think you'll be happy with the phone especially for the price.
I know I am.
Use it for a while.... If you don't like it, sell it for a more expensive flagship.
For me it's so good I don't feel the need to have a flagship phone anymore!
Just saw a review on Amazon with someone who mentioned they upgraded to the Redmi Note 7 from an S7 and raved about it.
Check out the review for the Blue 4GB RAM/64GB version.
It's one of the newer reviews.

I got it this morning and yes, the redmi is so heavy. Sound Quality is better on xiaomi but i was using dual speaker sounds on S7 wich makes a plaisent stéréo effect. Camera is a bit better on S7 Thanks to live HDR, dual pixel technology and à good noise réduction.

Yes Redmi note 7 is next level in term of screen size, entertaining purpose, everyday all around. Battery life 2 days on minimal use. Picture not as good as s7 edge
I replaced Huawei P10 whit RN7 and I'm surprised how better it is comparing to P10. Screen picture quality is way better and camera whit Gcam too. P10 have Leica lense blā, blā, but I don't like Leica look and that camera overexposes picture, loses detail in texture whit smoothing, makes picture to oversaturated and colors too neutral. RN7 whit GCam is neutral, exposes good and colors are good. If You like overprocessed pictures then You might want different camera app.
P10 is not S7, but I can say this phone is good. Only complains are weight, and writing is a bit hard for Me in position as I hold the phone. Of course there is minor things like screen is a bit less bright comparing to P10, plastic body, speaker can be more clear, still usb 2.0, no nfc, no IP rating etc. If You don't want to spend alot of money on phone as I do then this is solid choice. For that extra 250€ I would spend on phone I can buy alot of different things for Me.
Both my wife and I just bought the RN7 yesterday to replace both of our S7 Edge, personally I notice the screen resolution difference between the two, I miss the notifications staying at the top, miss the app draw and the camera start up speed is a lot faster than the RN7. The main reason why we switched though is the battery life, both of ours are the US version which use the Snapdragon CPU which only give us around 4 hr SOT, and I pretty much have to charge 2 or 3 times a day (yah on my phone all day long ) , now with the RN7, without doing anything, I just got 8 hr SOT with 10% left ....so yah wire free all day and way cheaper than a flagship Samsung, I know I can get over the cons very soon.

Plus we can help you negate some of the flaws
To get the original look with the added app drawer, install Poco Launcher from the Play Store and you're done with that part.
Screen res? Can you actually notice S7's higher pixels per inch count? Nothing to do about that though.
To overcome the lack of permanent notifications at the top, install Notch Test (Notifications for MIUI) and set up the position, give all permissions to the app, autostart, set battery restrictions to none, and lock it in the app switcher so MIUI can't kill it off. I have the icons position set to 215 from the left and 36 from the top. Works great and mitigates the issue completely (issue for those of us not coming from MIUI, accustomed to "permanent" notifications).
Camera start-up - nothing to do about that unless Xiaomi updates the firmware to do so. GCam takes even more to start, but the image it produces is more than worth the wait.
Anyone here coming from a pixel 4 xl?
I'm between those 2 devices and I live in Europe. I currently own a pixel 2xl and I'm pretty happy with the pixel experience so far.
For me, the pros of the pixel 4 are the camera obviously , the flat screen and the price (less than 650€ on Amazon)
Pros of the 8 pro are more modern hardware , more versatile camera , better battery and much higher brightness screen.
If someone has owned or used both can give me an opinion? Does the extra cost of 8 pro is justified?

I've had both. I was surprised how good the 8 pro was, this is my first oneplus device. The fingerprint scanner and face scanner are very fast. The face scanner is instantaneous. The display is beautiful and very bright, and 120hz is just smooth as lighting. The speakers are very good and loud and connecting to Bluetooth is flawless. The phone is very fast with the 865. The battery lasts all day for me, which none of my other phones really ever have. The cameras are pretty damn good. I'm definitely keeping this phone, I (unfortunately) returned the p4xl.

Obviously I don't have either but I think pixel and op are the only Android manufacturers that give attention to haptic feedback and even on the 7 that I have tried is really good. Better than my p2xl.
I had the Pixel4XL and now the OnePlus 8Pro ghere are my opinion:
positive points of the OnePlus 8 Pro:
"unsafe" unlock via the camera works instant, I had to hold the pixel often at an "extra" angle to unlock it
Finance and other critical apps are extra unlocked by the fingerprint
extremely smooth in the handling and the display is nearly perfect
well optimized Android-OS
Fingerprint Sensor
again screen is fantastic
phone design
positive points of the Pixel 4 XL advantages:
Android Updates instant
Camera is probably better, but for my trip and holiday photos the OnePlus 8 Pro is more than great, to be honest I don't see much difference
in very dark rooms the colour image is better / grey problems

Hi, thanks for the comparison. In your last point do you mean the camera in dark room or the screen? Does the 8 pro screen have issues with low brightness?
What do you think about the battery life of the 2? Is it significant better in 8 pro? Thanks again

In very dark environment the screen has issues, but if I hadn't read about them I wouldn't probably recognize them
The battery life (in my case with 2 sims) in the OnePlus 8 Pro is much better.
I sold my 4xl to get a oneplus 8 pro and the 8 pro is better in just about every way.
The display is the best ever. It's fast and smooth. It looks and feels better (ok, my opinion). Battery is definitely better. Brightness is crazy good. I can actually see it in sunlight. Not so much with the 4xl.
The 4xl camera is better, but not by much and only certain aspects are better.
Video is better on the 8 pro and I've been loving the wide angle lens which isn't on the 4xl. And the macro is great too..
Regular point and shoot I give to the 4xl but it's close enough not to really matter.
If you're ok with the money, run to the 8 pro. It's an outstanding phone.

For me it is the best phone after the Pixel 2XL at that time.
PS. I use it as my private and work phone
