Good value for year old flagship that was never promoted in the US. Awesome screen and a nice change of pace for habitual Galaxy S# users.
This is my last sony phone
The only thing I have bought it his display
Now after unlocking bootloader xreality not working
And you can't relock the bootloader like other brands
So why after booting the phone he always showing the text to relock bootloader if it's unlockable ??
Well. Pros:
Screen
Speed
Design
Cameras
Interface
Audio
Cons:
Weight - it's heavy and sleepery
Battery life is only average
Bundle charger is slow
Min brightness should be low

Click to collapse
You can relock the bootloader, though. I haven't unlocked my XZ3 yet, but my previous XZ2 and XZ relocks with no hassle using Xperia Flashtool.

I like this phone. Switched from a OnePlus 5 and while it is a downgrade in weight, dimensions and camera it's an improvement in screen size, screen scrolling/overall performance feel and speakers. Now when I look at other phones the Razer Phone just feels faster thanks to the 120Hz display.
Best phone I ever had. Even better than my Oppo Find 5.
Too heavy, small screen, and vibration motor is hideous.
1337/5 Stars! I love this phone.
Good hardware let down by really poor software support its a phone and it barely functions reliably in that task
I hate this phone.
very nice hardware. software and ergonomic design can definitely be improved

I've been using the XA2 for about 3 weeks now. I ore ordered it. Overall, this phone has great speed, battery life, a great selfie camera (in good lighting) ?, and the Sony BRAVIA display quality is excellent. True colors, blacks, etc.
However the development is weak 3 weeks in, rear facing 23MP camera is medicore, and performs poorly in dim lighting. The display lacks desired minimum and maximum brightnesses.
The design is nice, interface is easy to use. I like the curved gorilla glass, seems durable and doesn't keep fingerprints as some other phones I've used before.
verdict: it's definitely a nice mid range device for the everyday user.
Only 2 months into new Android phone. So far, so good. not great, but good. No issues
with phone, and Ilike the much bigger 6" screen for my older eyes. It works real well with a wireless Sony headphone (not the noise-cancelling ones, due to hi price but that would have been better) and a Marley Chant Mini-portable speaker. USB-C port is key, though I hate not being able to salvage my old cords. C CORDS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, SO KEEP THEM CLOSE AND BUY A SPARE, SHORT ONE FOR YOUR PORTABLE BATTERY.
New -C cords means more electro-junk to toss out. Minimalist packaging was nice touch.
I like voice control, but I hate saying "Hey Ggggggoogl". We should be able to customize calling to these personal support devices, like we do for my dog. I would call mine whatever version of Android is running the OS.
Bit overwhelmed by the shear volume of Android apps out there. At first, I figured it would take just few months to sort great apps from crap ones. Here it is, 2 Months in, and I'm about 1/2 done. being retired means not enough incentive to waste personal time staring at screens, when I did that hours upon hours each day for over 40 yrs.
Disappointed: I was excited about this phone initially because I love old school 16:9 displays. I still love my V20. But this phone is soooo sluggish. It takes so long to launch apps, to boot, to type...etc. Battery life was bad. I find that my old low end Moto E4 Plus is faster! Maybe when we get root and an assortment of roms this phone will be usable.
bricked
What can I say: tied to install lineageos according to instructions. Device now bricked, hard. Only reaction to power button pressing is one LED flash. No USB, so no fastboot, no flashing.
Sony customer "support" referred me to "developers", who did not even bother responding. Considering experience with other Sony phones: Never again any Sony device, thanks all the same.
Would you say that the Sony Xperia 5 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Sony Xperia 5 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

All I can say is this this is faster now with Android 10 Booting is faster than Windows 10. The old Xperia Z5compact would have booted eventually but the 5 is a BEAST at booting. Everything else is fantastic too. No lag here. I don't install tonnes of games though so haven't loaded this baby up to see how it would cope with crap.
I just keep what I need to use and oh Black Desert online is a game you might want to try out on this phone. 3Gig install now doesn't seem so large. Saying this I've got it on a Kindle 8 so considering its size it's still still playable and looks pretty too.
Sony have done their homework with this handset. I'm satisfied.
One thing I have noticed. If you activate Stamina mode this will affect performance. No more buttery smooth scrolling for you. So decide battery saving of nice user experience.
I'd say that this phone is fast as it supposed to be according to hardware specs. BUT having Pixel 4 at the same time for comparison, X5 doesn't feel as fast as P4. I believe that it will be very hard to find slow&full of lags Snapdragon 855 flagship device.
This thing is lightning fast
Almost stock android and 855 chip. It's going be fast. Nothing note worthy to report.
Let me tell you this. At this date and time, this phone is a rocket, running Android 10 55.1.A.8.11
All I can tell you about Xperia 5 is not 100%. I have only one thing that is totaly bad: recording video 4K from stand by mode is totaly broken. Video freeze often. When recording second video, its better, but no 100% continuous.
So sad. So disappointment.

This device rocks, from a offer standpoint at least. From the reviews i though it would be slow, but the UI is very smooth. Only downside for me is the washed out screen. Maybe a room with a different calibration.
Overall it's a nice phone. Really smooth, decent cameras for the price, awesome battery life (it's easy with a 5000mAh battery and a SoC manufactured on the Samsung's 8nm process).
The screen could be amoled tho, not that the PLS TFT screen on this phone is bad, but it isn't great either.
The SoC has a weak GPU, but who plays games on a phone anyways... For a 720p screen I think it's more than enough.
So yeah, if you want a phone with a battery that lasts you days I can only recommend you this.
Just got one yesterday, easy to set up but colour is very disappointing and very washed out and I can’t find a way to alter the colour. despite what various websites show for improving the vividness on Samsung phones this doesn’t seem to have this function. Also I can’t see a way to have the clock permanent displayed as was available on my old A3
This phone is very beauti

I did not find any real-life reviews before buying the device, so understanding others who want the real-life review, I am taking time to give some info on the device here.
1. If you come from 6.5 in or lesser than that phones, you might feel the phone is a bit longer(narrow) and more weight. I came from iPhone XR(6.1), and I felt those two but M2 pro is not really hefty or bulky.
2. The fingerprint scanner better placed a little lower.
3. The body feels solid and premium.
4. Vibration feedback is something I prefer on phones, I did expect a lot after POCO mentioned z shocker haptics, but I did not satisfied completely because it is not like Oneplus or LG or iPhone series high haptic quality and not even bad or normal. To put it simply, it is beyond normal but not beyond awesome. But for others it will be good and satisfactory.
Overall love? You will not feel any special than any other Xiaomi phone. These are my personal findings. I did miss a lot of usual things mentioning here, but I think you can get those details anywhere.
