power bank not charging - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I buy power bank Platinet 5200mAh input 5V/2A output 5V/2.1A ,when I connect power bank to phone nothing happen, is problem in phone settings or..something else?
Anyone have some problems like this ?

Disassemble the power bank and measure the batteries. If they are ok, but maybe the charging port/the control electronic circuit are broken, buy a cheap power box from aliexpress or ebay (or whatever you want) and solder the batteries (accu's) on to it.
Or you can buy a DIY power bank case (box) - it's 4-5 USD on aliexpress and do it your self.
How to do is it on youtube.
And you can learn something new

Does the powerbank charge any other devices? Have you tried using another USb cable?

Its ok now..
Iam so stupid that i forgot to charge power bank first when I came home from store.. ..
My stupid mistake..
Its working ,power bank is 5200mAh and I can use it for one full and other maybe half charge of phone...

One more question about power bank, when I fully charged power bank, and left it.
After How menu days power bank will be useful and can charged my phone?
One day, two? Or I must charge the power bank before I go to trip and I can use it only that day when my phone battery is empty,or Is there any chance that I can use Power bank the day after that I charged it?
How many days power bank saves energy?

Think of it as just another battery, because that's what it is. In other words, you can use it whenever you want as long as it has charge.
When it's full it will be able to charge other batteries to the limit of it's capacity. For example it's a 5200mah power bank and let's say you have a 2600mah phone battery, it will be able to charge it twice before needing to be recharged itself.
The only times you need to wait are when it's recharging. Like any battery, charge it whenever you can, don't let it run too low etc.

That power bank just dont have enough Voltage to start charging my phone..
I just sold that and bay another with 10000mAh that have two usb conectors for charging two fone, also have fast charging and its nice,I like it..
And also is a cheap 16$

battery draining when I charge phone. Alerts me to change it

For some reason, every couple of days when I plug my phone in to charge the battery overnight I end up getting an alert (about 4 in the morning!) to change the battery because mine is dead, along with the back up battery, and then the phone shuts off within about a minute. Luckily I have another battery, which I then put in, and then put the dead battery in the "back up battery" slot in the cradle to charge, which it does. I don't know why this happens but it is very frustrating. I am afraid of this happening on a trip out of town where I won't have the ability to use my cradle, unless I bring it which is a big hassle. I don't know what to do.
This IS vexing. By the fact that it charges the extra battery - we know that the power transformer is connected. Since the device does not seem to be charging (possibly even discharging?) - it seems that either the connector on the charging base or the connector on the device itself are bad.
Have you used the power dongle connected to the power transformer to attempt to charge the device? This would tell you if it's the charging base or the device. If it charges outside of the base, it's the base - if not, it's the device.
Best of luck!
How are you charging the battery - from mains power or through the USB?
I had a situation where I was only using USB power to the cradle and although this worked most of the time, I noticed that if the battery was already low (<50%) then the battery seemed to discharge rather than charge.
So the trigger in your case may be the amount of charge left in the battery before you start re-charging it.
I think other people have reported similar discharging situations, so some other ideas might emerge from a search of other threads.

battery won't charge

my wizard battery won't charge.
i have tried another battery and another rom with no change.
wehn i plug in the sync cord, the izard reognizes that it is on external power but just won't charge the battery.
any ideas.
thanks
...try to find out, by measuring, if the ±5Volt DC is present on the pins on the inside of the ppc which is needed to charge the battery. Probably your charging circuit is busted and the ppc should brought back for repairs...
thanks for the response
what is ppc
where do i measure the voltage.
when i first connect the sync cable, it starts to charge for one or two seconds and then stops and reverts to a normal non charging screen.
thanks
PPC stands for Pocket PC
What you speak of, I had the same problem on my wizard.
My battery finally died and I couldnt re-vive my phone.
I bought a new battery off of ebay, put it in, plugged it into the charger that came with my phone, let it charge overnight and I havent had a charging problem yet.
My advice, as well as alot of others on this board, dont use any other charger other than the one that the phone came with. I know I wont be.
...inside your ppc, when you remove your battery, you'll see different connection pins which are normally connected to the battery. With power attached (and without battery) you measure between 2 pins at a time. WATCH OUT for shortcircuiting, be careful!!!. You can use an analog or digital voltagemeter. I don't know which pins, so you have to try it yourself.
You should measure ±5 Volt DC which's delivered by your adapter. If there's no power then your charging circuit is defect and you'll have to let it repair...
reading about a volt on the internal pins that connect to the battery.
so it's the charging circuit.
damn
I had the same problem twice with 2 different batteries. it seems if the batterie dies completely, the device can not recharge itself. something like a car, you need to have enough juice to start the car so you can recharge the battery.
I took 2 paper clips that i used to connect the charger directly to the battery( bypassing the phone). you need to be careful with that, make sure you connect the right battery pins. I left my battery like this for 15min, just enough to have aniough power to start the phone and continue the charging process regularly.
As mlarif said the battery can fail to charge if totally discharged. So if you are not absolutely certain your circuit is faulty there are at least two threads here describing how to butcher a usb cable to jump start the battery.
Sorry I can't remember the colours of the wires off the top of my head. But a search may find the relavent posts.
...you can also use a 9 VDC battery to give the ppc batteries a boost for a few seconds. But indeed be sure to use the right pins
(btw did you measure any VDC on the batteries..?)

Charging circuit questions

I have a MDA that had it's battery die durring a reflash. Yes I know me=dumbass. I have since jumpstarted the battery and the phone will boot to the recovery screen.
This is a phone I got off craigslist cheep for my son...to break him into the winmo cell phones. I know I could just buy another battery but I really dont want to throw more money into this. Plus the wife is pissed that I may have bought a junk phone.
Unfortunatly I am unable to charge the battery enough to complete a full reflash without the battery running out of juice.
If a phone has no "OS" installed on it, will it still be able to recharge a battery? If it has no drivers...will it know it has a recharging circuit?
I am trying to charge the batt unsing the usb cable and taping the red/black to +/- respectively. Will thgis eventually charge the batt? Or are the charge points different than the +/- as marked on the battery?
Any help is apreciated.
Yes, I think what you've done will eventually charge the battery.
It may take while since USB is only 500mA.
Does the charge indicator illuminate orange when you plug in the phone? If so, that means it is charging the battery.
I'm not sure if it will charge with no OS or not. Sometimes a weak (~800mA) charger requires the phone to be able to boot before it will charge. Phones that are more dead usually require the OEM 1200mA charger.
ur mobile will charge without an OS...the Orange Led should glow even if the phone is switched off...but charging thru USB may be inadequate...use wall charger....

My G1 stop charging, in need of a external battery charger.

Alright heres the story i bought a FM transmitter/charger for my G1 on Ebay a few months ago its been working fine until today. When i plugged it in today the transmitter/charger kinda flash then wont turn back on. So I figured hey its from china I'm glad it worked this long, but when i plugged my phone up at home it still wouldn't charge. I tried multiple chargers and my second battery, nothing. I went to Tmobile and they had to order me a new phone under warranty. So now I need a external battery charger because the phone is completely dead now and I need to get some info off of it and flash it back to its original firmware (its completely modded). Any suggestion? Oh yeah and the loaner phone really sucks.
You could always get a spare 5 volt wall charger (up to 1amp), clip the end off and use a couple alligator connectors to directly charge the battery (with the battery outside of the phone). You would need to mind polarity and make sure to use fine tipped alligator clips with the rubber insulation. It'd only take a short while to charge it enough to retrieve your info.
As always, use care.. 5 volts will not hurt you, but if you leave the battery on the charger overnight and there is no overcharge protection, or if you reverse polarity, the battery could possibly burst.
This is just a quick dirty fix to get the battery a charge prior to returning the phone.

I didn't know you could do it like that. Thanks for the idea. One question tho. How can i tell the + and - connection on the power cord?
Careful with those Lithium Batteries. They can explode/cause fire if wrong voltage applied (5v with large amperage is too much for it.. The charging circuit in the device controls current) or shorted. Not scaring u off. Better be safe than sorry.
U can use cheap Voltage regulated Universal Chargers like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Mobile-Phone-Battery-Charger/dp/B001AHU6QU
They have wrong polarity protection too.

Click to collapse
Once you strip the wire back it will be color coded.. red + and black -
What do you need to take off your phone..? Just remove your SD card. Also, according to other users on this thread, having modified firmware does NOT void your warranty or anything. It doesn't matter if you have it rooted or anything and you send it back.

Portable Power Bank Battery charger or Extra battery with charger?

Hi all!
I want to know what is the most convenient device to use? Extra battery with charger or 5200mAh Portable power bank battery charger (Romoss)? I like to use a light widget device.
Thanks!
I'm sure you can figure out which is more convenient for your usage, let's face it, we haven't got a clue as to how you use your phone, you have!
