I have a samsung s8 from a few days, with android oreo.
I'm looking for an app to insert widgets on the home, for connections,
data, wifi, gps, etc .......
Can you suggest a widget app, compatible for my phone? Thank you.
Kwgt or KLWP are the best.
I would recommend kwgt for you.
You can easily create such widgets to fit your personal preferences. You can choose actions for taping or many other. It is a bit tricky though but once you got into and understood most of the apps functions, you're in the flow.
I would've suggested you Zooper widgets because it's easier, but Zooper is discontinued and has much less functions.

I am thinking of using Nova Launcher, but wondering if I will loose any functionality. Does any one know if this is the case?
Try it and let us know!!

I'm using it. You don't lose a great deal - page buddy and the very nice weather widgets are all I can think of that make a daily difference. All the big features still work, including multi-view.
You get rid of most of Touchwiz though, which is a massive advantage.
@ekerbuddyeker - am trying it, but as this is my first Samsung device (only got it today), and never used any of the Samsung features before; I wouldn't have known if I was missing out on anything. Thanks for your contribution though
Seems to be running well so far. Just reading up on "Page Buddy" to see if I think I need it (Thanks Robster83 for that info).
The main advantages of Nova so far are that I can increase the amount of rows and columns on the desktop. I have just come from Paranoid Android on the Galaxy Nexus and with the large screen and default DPI everything on the Note 2 looks VERY BIG. Also finding the swipe down gesture to open up the notifications useful as my fingers struggle to get to the top of the screen when holding the phone in one hand.
Im using Nova and I think its a better option. I can still get Snote to open when I remove the pen so for me losing page buddy doesn't matter. The extra customization is well worth it.
+1 to nova here, much better than tw
Nova is pretty good although does anyone know how to get the S Planner Calendar Widget working with it? The S Planner Calendar widget is so much more advanced than the standard calendar widget and it kinda sucks for that to be the one thing that gets removed when I use Nova.

SPlanner is built into the TouchWiz Launcher, making it impossible to get the widget on anything else other than stock launcher.

+1
I agree with everyone here. Definetly a +1 for Nova over TW.
But since I had page buddy setup to launch Rocket player when my headphones were attached, it seems as though it is locked into that setting. I tried going back to the TW environment to turn it off but it didn't work
Go Launcher is a better option for me, than any other launcher, I would urge those who haven't tried it to give it a go. Loads of customisation possible and the go ex notification add-on is nice.
In terms of calendar widget. Ive also tried loads and best I have found is Pure Calendar Widget.
+1 on Pure Calendar. Also Wizz widget is fine, also free.
I know its not a calendar thread, but if you have already mentioned calendars, then Business Calendar Free!
I'm using nova for two years. After installing it I immediately delete touchwiz launcher. Best launcher I ever tried.
How do you add a settings shortcut for battery and wifi manager on the home screen? I've been scouring through the widgets and nothing seems to appear, normally with all other phones a "settings" widget is available and you get to choose which settings you want a link to.
Thanks

i was using the galaxy note ii for a while and loved settings widget/shortcut. i moved on to the galaxy note 3 on a different carrier. i also have sm-n9005. both note 3s do not have the settings widget. it is frustrating. what i recommend is installing action launcher by chris lacy. it will add 2 widgets to the widget launcher/menu. choose the activities widget. the list of apps and settings that populates is more extensive than the note ii's version. there you can add bluetooth, data usage, wifi, and tethering one by one. after creating all the shortcuts i needed, uninstalled action launcher. remember to keep touchwiz as your default launcher in the beginning of the process.
(on a side note, action launcher is great. i even purchased the pro key. however, i just don't like the way apps look in folders. in addition, 1x1 widgets do not align properly with regular app icons sometimes. as for 4 row widgets, it automatically adds margins/padding so they look more align with other same sized widgets. some 4 row widgets on touchwiz go edge to edge which is annoying. in regards to the s pen features, air command did not pop up on action. honorable mention, shutters is a great action feature. last mention, i don't use action on the note 3.)
Hello,
I wonder what people use as home Launcher for the Z3 COmpact.
The original one is nice with some additional features like the Drawer Menu.
NOVA has been my choice for years so now got back to it again.
But I think of using Google Now as it supports Voice Activation from the home screen (or even Lock Screen, though not sure??)
Anyhow, what's your preferred one?
Why not miui?
P.S. I am a miui super fan
Hi.
Voice activation is supported on any page of nova launcher prime (I use it on my Z3 compact)
Nova for me
Got it MIUI, but cannot seem to edit the Poll anymore ;-(
As for NOVA just found it indeed. Only does not work on the lock screen ;-( But Nova rocks indeed.
I'm using Next.
I using CM Launcher.. A few weeks..
Its offer Small-Fast Launcher but lots of customize..
I can't believe Terrain Home didn't make the list.
Any decent launcher now should get you to a search textbox in one action, and the search should dynamically filter your phone content (apps, contacts, bookmarks, etc.) as you type.
Terrain also includes a reasonable selection of feeds, a la Blinkfeed or Samsung's My Magazine.
Action Launcher for me, lacks some of the Nova features but I can't live without my covers and shutters.
using flow and aviate, switching between them when bored, but flow home launcher is great but still on beta though.

Got a link? Can't seem to find it on the Play Store
I was using Xperia until yesterday, then I switched to Nova.
I use folders pretty heavily so all the apps I use regularly are available with 2 taps from the home screen. I never use the drawer. The main reason I'm using Nova now is because I discovered Chronus which is great for showing when I have new mail, texts, calls, events, etc. all in one place, but it's a 4x3 widget so I needed the extra row Nova gives me.
I like the idea of a launcher with context, so I could see myself using something like Aviate, but so far I haven't quite found one that feels just right.
I use nova prime cause i want to use knock on and knock off. Coming from lg g2 and dont wnt to miss this xD
It's visible to me. Maybe you have to Google it and register for the beta first. I simply don't remember. FWIW, they're a Samsung venture.
Found it - try terrainhome dot com.
Google Now Launcher, but with Xposed GEL Settings.
I've been using Nova Prime for years but recently switched to Smart Launcher Pro because I'm tired of the standard matrix of icons paradigm. Granted, Smart Launcher Pro isn't far off of that, but it's a welcome change.

Buzz Launcher with Buzz widget here.
I'm using Action Launcher Pro.
OK, I like the default VibeUI launcher which comes on MM, however I have 100+ apps installed, so it becomes confusing to find an app. I make folders for better organization but it is lot of work, and it gets lost everytime I do update
I tried catapult, it automatically paginates alphabetically and is light too, however It doesn't quick search feature like Vibe (by swiping up) which I really use,
I also tried nano launcher which is also very light, however It doesn't have resizable widgets on front page otherwise it would have been perfect
And BTW does VibeUI support lock screen widgets, I can't seem to find an option to enable it ?
Any others I should try ?
Google now.. Use it on most of my phones..
After trying more than 10 different launchers, I have zeroed in on Solo Launcher with Search Bar Ex widget. It works as great combo.
I recommend a very good app organizer called Smart Shortcuts. It works with ANY launcher and keeps your apps organized in folders. I also recommend Swapps....it gives you an app window on the side of your screen, so that you can access your apps at any time. In fact, you can put folders from Smart Shortcuts on your Swapps menu. As for launchers, I use Hola launcher as it is small, light and fast. I have not upgraded to MM yet, but it all works well under lollipop.
Besides the Home screen, is there a way I can have the next screen display the app I most frequently use and constantly update it? For example, I've used Apps A, D, K, and J more often than others so they are listed at the top of the "secondary" screen in the order I've use them the most on average; that being said, if I were to begin to use App L much more often than K and J, it would automatically appear on that screen and listed right after Apps A and D. App K and J would move down the order. Hope I made my question clearer rather than more confusing. Appreciate any assistance on this one.
You might have to look for widgets for favorite apps, or a different launcher. Nova for example makes the first row of the app drawer as most used apps.

Thanks. Does Nova do only the first row or should I rather ask, what's the max amount of Apps it keeps track of?
Just the top 4 most used apps. Again it's not the best solution. You need a widget and put it on another home panel.

You're right. I cam across Nova and it's not what I'm really looking for. I found a widget (Favorite Apps) but it doesn't seem to be working. I e-mailed the developer but it's been 2 days and haven't gotten no response. Hopefully I'll get a response soon because this widget seems to be the only one that actually does what I was looking for.
