USSD codes - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi everone.
I have been using my Mi A1 for bout 5 months and all was good.
I use USSD codes to get credit balance etc. (In Ireland on m y network *#100# returns balance etc).
Since the second last update this USSD code (or any USSD code for that matter) is not working.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks.
Jim

Thanks fort he reply.
If I factory reset it will (obviously) go back to out-of-the-box settings but will then take the latest AO updates and will result in the same issue :crying:

It's only a network setting reset (NOT factory reset) which would only wipe your network related presets like Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and mobile data.
Give it a try then feedback.

Thanks for the suggestion however, that has not resolved the issue.
Just to add, these USSD codes have only stopped working since the second last update July for Android One. Have checked with teh network operator and they have not retired the codes.

If you are using dual sim, you might have set the dial to another sim. Change that to "Ask first".

You could try flashing the stock rom with Odin and factory reset afterwards to see if that fixes the issue.

3G not working(APN issue)

I changed my usual SIM(vodafone italy) to another SIM for work(chess mobile norway).
All worked fine with it, 3g wifi, as usual.
Then when i finished using the norwegian SIM i went back to the old one (italian vodafone), and no 3g working.
the APN menu is empty.
I try to press + to ADD and it crashes( settings crash).
I press bottom left button then press return to default APN , and after 10sec i can see the Internet,Wap,MMS entries but after some seconds they all dishappear.
In those seconds i can see the h+ icon blinking for 1 second and then dishappears leaving the APN menu empty as described above.
After this first attempt if i press again to get APD defaults nothing happens.
Then I try again to use the norwegian SIM on my S4 and it works well.
I don't have a clue what's going on.
Any suggestions?
:crying:
Cheers

already tried. Nothing changes.
I have just got another phone to test the sim, and 3g is working.
So if I was able to add an APN maybe i would solve the problem.
But the APN settings crashes all the time.
No chance to make any new connection.

Seems that using a SIM from another cowntry made a lot of mess in the S4.

Samsung Note 3 doesn't want to recognize/register my SIM

I'm not a 100% sure how this problem occurred, I believe it was after flashing an S5 custom rom called: "RC Elite S5 Port V16" To my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900W8). From what I was reading it was a ROM that "converts" your note 3 to a note 4 or s5, while still having all the Note 3 features. Another possible cause is trying to use RegionLock Away.apk by Chainfire to essentially(unlock) the phone. I feel like this is the main cause though as this affects the modem on the phone. This isn't the SIM as I tried it in another phone and works fine with calls and texts.
My phone doesn't want to register its mobile network anymore. When I try to make a call or text it says:
"Not Registered on network"
I was reading online for about 2-3days now for possible solutions that can cure this. Such as:
1. Going into Mobile Networks settings and manually register [failed, details below]
2. Going into Mobile Networks settings, hold home button for 2seconds and then hold power button + home button for 15seconds [failed, details below]
3. Taking out battery while the phone is on and remove the SIM card, clean it and re-insert [failed]
4. Factory Reset [Failed]
5. Wipe Storage and re-flash stock ROM [Failed]
Options 1 & 2 do not work because when I try to access Mobile Network Settings I get this:
"Insert SIM card to access network services"
The SIM card is inside the phone though...
So what I did is found a mobile network options shortcut "program" from GooglePlay Store and installed it. It allows me to access the menu, which is great! Now, when I try to register the SIM card to my correct service provider (BELL CANADA)...it will make me wait for about 1-2minutes before I get "Unable to register, try later" error.
I tried the factory restore with a stock 4.4.2 ROM from Sammobile and the issue is still there.
Is there anything that anyone knows that can help me resolve this problem? I tried EVERYTHING i can possibly find on Google. I've seen posts of people suggesting to flash a modem.bin file with Odin but I don't know where to get those files, nor what to look for in terms of modem file "types".

I tried region unlocking it with RegionLock Away by Chainfire. I would like to say afterwards this issue occurred but as far as im concerned, using a TELUS Mobility sim card activates the network pin unlock. So i'll be going with no, it's not unlocked.
I currently have a Bell LTE 4G SIM card installed on the phone. If you check the photos there it shows I have a full connection but unable to make calls nor access the mobile networks menu.... =/
I can provide pictures on the error messages if you'd like.

Do one thing.
1. Turn off the phone. Take a out the simcard and battery for some min.
2. Add the battery only. Turn on the phone and factory reset your device (Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything.)
3. Insert SIMCARD without turn off the phone.

They there! I tried to follow all the steps to the best of my ability but it seemed that didn't work. For 1, the note 3's sim card slot is blocked by the battery so i can't take it out without turning it off. In addition, after only inserting the battery and performing the factory reset, I decided to test it and the issue is STILL there even though a sim card isn't even inserted AFTER the factory reset. Same error messages as if nothing ever happened, even shows full bar reception even though nothing is in there. =/
This is the most unique problem I have ever encountered myself. I really don't know what to say...

Bumping.
After some more research I was wondering if you reflash the stock firmware back, does it effect the EFS partition at all? Cause if it doesn't I believe I installed a faulty EFS partition accidentally which results in the broken connection.
Any way I can get a backup of an EFS file that I can flash?
Thanks.
Bump. This issue is driving me nuts.
Thank you in advance.

Issue still there.
Thanks in advance for the replies.
I had this same problem earlier (for a note 2) in the week where it just wont register any sim card.
In my case i think the problem was that i did a full format before flashing which probably deleted the EFS folder.
I tried so many options and eventually managed to resolve it by following the following instructions to restore the stock firmware.
Edit: Unfortunately i cant post URLs as i dont have enough posts
You can get to the page if you search for the following text in Google (The first entry in the results page)

Hey there!
Thanks for your swift reply! I had already did the Samsung Recovery via Kies 3. Do you know if I reflash it that way that the EFS folder would get flashed as well? Because after doing those steps the issue is still there, after about 3 firmware recovery flashes. xD
I didn't even think about backing up the stupid EFS folder otherwise I would have. I was looking at this

Is this the same one? xD

Latest update botched data - any ideas?

Hey guys,
I have an S8+ from Canada (unlocked, purchased direct from Samsung). The latest update seems to have killed off the ability to get data working, everything else is fine.
The update went as normal, but as soon as it rebooted it was out of action. I've since reconfigured APN settings, wiped the cache partition, reset the network and performed a factory reset - no dice.
I swapped sim cards with another GS8 - my sim worked fine in the other phone and that sim didn't work in mine.
Anyone have any ideas?
Kind Regards,
Michael

Is your APN settings still intact after the update? Check under settings>mobile network>access point names. That's most likely the problem, you might have to Google the APN for your current carrier and add it to your APN list, then select it. If that isn't the problem make sure you have the proper network mode selected (ex. CDMA, LTE, Global,...) if you need further help don't hesitate to ask.

Nokia 6(TA-1000) cellular network not work after Android Oreo

I just upgrade my Nokia 6(TA-1000) to official Android 8.0.0 (Oreo).
Then my Cellular network won't work anymore.
I live in Hong Kong, using sim card service "CMHK".
I think it is LTE/WCDMA mode.
Tried "*#*#4636#*#*" and changing the settings.
But the connection always shown IPv4: Failed(2)
The phone notification show it is connected and running 3G network.
But the upload/download speed is always 0KB/s.
Reset to factory setting already.
Before upgrade Android everything work fine.
Anyone have the same problems?
Now, what can i do....?
It seems I can't even downgrade my Android.
Only, have to wait for next update and hope it will fixed?
I think i am screwed.

All firmware should be correct?
BTW, I get a new sim card from ISP but cellular network still not working.
Also, tried both sim card slot 1 and slot 2 nothing work.
May be new system not compatible with my SIM card service only which is "CMHK" aka "中國移動香港".
Hope next update will fix that...

NOKIA 6
hi,
i updated my nokia 6 TA-1000 to oreo update.
i faced many issues like lte not working.
in battery saver mode launcher is stopping suddenly.
it is not detecting the sim correctly.
i didnt get network signals correctly.
Then i tried to hard reset my mobile ,after complete reset and after rebooting it stopped at language selection,i clicked lets go many times but it is not working .it got stucked there.
is there anyway to get rid of it.i asked for nokia chat support but they are asking me to take mobile to nearest service center.
if there is any solution please guide me with it .thank you in advance.
I just turn off the cellular network yesterday.
After I wake up from bed, my phone Google service can not connect from wifi(can't use email, Google store).
BUT! After reinsert my sim card and turn back on cellular network, everything working now.
Both 4G cellular and Google service all good.
May be some part of the network is cached.
So, if you encounter this problem just turn off cellular network and wait.

It seems that, the old slot 1 cached your sim card.
So, you change to slot 2 work, but you can't use SD card.
And I found that if you wait a long time the cache will clear.
You can try to insert sim card back to slot 1 after 1-2 days.

The only option was left to flash stock firmware, but as it updated to oreo, its bootloader has also been updated so I will suggest you to wait for official oreo firmware to release, please don't try to downgrade your device for now, it can brick your device very badly, keep patience, if any solution will come out, we will definitely tell you

Yes, I got it fixed...
1) Just turn off your cellular network.
2) Wait for 1-2 days.
3) Turn on your cellular network again, it should work.
How can I off cellular network. Will keeping it in flight mode helps?

Thank you for raising this question. My phone got the same problem. I am just wondering if I should send it to maintenance center but I guess they will just do reset.
And by saying "turn off cellular network and wait for 1-2 days", do you mean by just turning off the data usage, or turning it to flight mode/ turning the phone.
