I know LG only supports unlocking the bootloader for the H870 (euro version) and the US997.USA
I see G6s for sale with MPN as LGUS997.AUSAPL. I can see the PL is for the color. I know u cannot unlock H870K or H870S, for example. Is part number US997.AUSA not unlockable? Or does that part number correspond to model number US997.USA?
Anybody buy one of these: LGUS997.AUSAPL, and unlock it?
Do u own the phone? easy enough to check it by trying to get the unlock code on lg developer website. Doing that doesn't unlock it, just gets the code.
If not, I'd have to guess it's an Amazon phone? Mine is, and the sft ware version is US997A20a, and that is not unlockable according to lg developer site.

I don't have a phone yet. Shopping on ebay. Not super reliable info there.
OH! Yours is not unlocakble. It is from Amazon? How is it identifiable from others?

Not sure this will help you but LG does have some pages showing info for the software if you know the IMEI:
Model:LGUS997
Suffix:AAMZOP
Buyer:AMZ
Software Verison:US997A10C_03
OS Version:N
File Name:US997A10c_03_1221.kdz
KDZ File size:3126334504
Download: Please contact us and use our paid service to GET latest firmware for your phone.
The link to the page giving this is here: https://lg-firmware-rom.com/
But again, to make it work, you have to have the IMEI. In my case, because it says AMZ as the buyer, can't unlock it. If it's US Cellular also, can't be unlocked.
---------- Post added at 18:23 ---------- Previous post was at 18:21 ----------
Actually, looking again at your model code, I'm almost positive that one is unlockable. Pretty sure that's the code for the normal USA997 version.

That is a useful site. So your AMZ indicates it is an Amazon branded phone and not unlockable.
I am pretty sure US997.AUSA does equal US997.USA, but I'm also pretty sure it's not. I am wary, I've already bought two of these G6s only to discover I couldn't unlock the bootloader. So many variants.
OK here is a roundup of what I have learned:
The best way to check if an LG G6 can unlock its bootloader is to email [email protected] and give them an IMEI number, they'll check it and respond in a day.
Using the LG website, after signing up, requires another number you probably don't have; not useful.
Numerous IMEI checking websites are useful because they can give the model number from an IMEI quickly. If it shows US997, it's quite likely you can be on the road to unlocked bootloader freedom. If you have US997Z, you're out of luck. If you have AMZ, bought from Amazon, you can't unlock it... etc.
I have not verified the initial question of this thread. That is a number often used on ebay, but is usually just automatically populated to a listing, not actually the device for sale. However, that number is on the B&H website, but could also be not accurate; though I read that B&H G6s are unlockable.
The best way is to find an ebay listing with a picture of the IMEI, then ask the developers at LG. Or ask a non-paranoid seller what is the IMEI.
Needle in a frickin' haystack!

I checked out these two phones.
The photo in the juniper bush cannot be unlocked, it turns out to be model US997Z.
The photo with the thumb can be unlocked.
I hope this helps.
Interesting, I just purchased the unlocked US997 from Best Buy today. My beloved HTC M8 is ill. So went for the G6 based on the assumption it's a Bootloader unlockable. Guess I better check before I open the box to avoid restock fee if a return is necessary.
Thanks for the info and pics interestor. My box label is identical, TO BOTH!
Update: Got a reply from LG Development and the Best Buy, carrier unlocked version has the unlockable boot-loader. NOW I'm going to open the box and play with it. Thanks for the contact info!

Just posting my experience of getting a fresh Moto G 16GB that was Tesco purchased - unlocked and to Stock.
I linked to the XDA thread by t-bon3 - which is a great guide.
Here is how it went for me.
First issue that the device is locked to tesco sim cards.
Note: you are not unlocking the bootloader or adding root to the system.
The phone will be exactly as if you bought it from retail, just you got it subsided by Tesco.
I choose these guys to get an unlock code - they seemed professional - I avoid ebay & paypal.
http://www.unlockunit.com/unlock-motorola-moto-g?var=tel
Form filling.......
Phone Model : *Moto G*
Country & Network : *United Kingdom - Tesco Mobile*
IMEI: *XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX*
E-mail: *YourEmail*
I then got 3 Emails.
1: Confirm Order
2: Confirm Payment
3: Unlock code (came 11 minutes after I paid)
There were 2 unlock codes - I put a non-tesco SIM in and was greeted with the prompt - the first code worked.
Then after that I followed this guide to Install the UK Retail firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707
Files From here
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
I used this one
Android 4.3
Blur_Version.14.71.8.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB
*Retail UK*
407.3 MiB
40FD34F930D9ADD3AB3F65B5A23FCD00
Simple task, enable USB debugging, reboot into fastboot, run script, reboot.
Now just to wait for the Over The Air 4.4.2 update that is due any day for the UK phones.

I agree I paid too much.. no going back now.
However I disagree that using a Pseudo Stock Rom is superior to flashing an actual stock ROM

Wrong.
It is a full stock UK ROM. It wouldn't install if it wasn't.
In this case, repacked means adding the proper Moto fastboot tool, and a .bat file to automate the commands.

Exactly, just does the long winded way from one simple command.
Actually, there is one error in the simple way, if you can call it that, he doesn't say you need to enable usb debugging before you start which might be confusing for noobs.
You don't need to enable it.
Put phone in fastboot, run .bat

If you put your sim in and doesn't ask for code.... Then don't worry just use it. If you need to put different sim in and asks for code. .. That's when you will need the code. If it still doesn't ask for code then probably phone is already unlocked.

I doubt it is carrier-locked, it looks more like region-locked.
Also in this case it might be a problem since for Vietnam (XXV, XEV) the original Samsung version was N9000 (the Exynos one) - and I believe there is no N9005 firmware with a CSC corresponding to XXV or XEV.
You should probably look around for other owners/users in Vietnam.
If you find nothing you should try to insert an EU SIM and see if it works (assuming the N9005 was bought in EU, otherwise a SIM from the country from where it was bought).
In the future when you need help you might see more feedback if you provide more details - for instance your current firmware in the phone , you can see those after *#1234# , also reading and searching around the forums here has never hurt anyone

The software inside your N9005 suggests a Hong-Kong software version (which does not 100% guarantee that it was a Hong-Kong phone in the first place, but nothing does).
I am afraid I have no experience with what happens there - you really need to ask somebody with a N9005 and Vietnam SIM.
Just looked at your video but can't see anything in the status bar. Can you go into about phone and then status to see the service state... If in service or not. Also can you get Internet on the phone

I've run into the same issue. I don't think it's the correct message. It should say something like "Please notice, we don't provide unlock codes for your device."
I wrote Huawei support and this is the message I got back.

It would be awesome if anyone has a way to work around this issue... thanks!
Same result here
I got the same problem on the unlock web page, and the same email result from Huawei USA.
I finally resorted to paying the $4.49 to DC-Unlocker and successfully unlocked (rooted, installed TWRP, etc.). I *have* read here and there that Huawei requires that you create an account on their site and log into it for some period (I want to say 14 days). I didn't have the patience to try that route, since I wanted to get the device set up and not worry about having to wipe it again in two weeks' time.
[Edit] I did open the special configuration menu (with calculator in landscape mode and a special code I can't remember just now: someting like "()()824579()()="). There, I found a model number "BTV_W09_V2" (note the underscores). Once or twice in my dozens of code-retrieval attempts, this model number gave me a response on the website telling me that my unlock code is "{}". It felt like progress, but was still useless.
Were you guys on EMUI 4 or 5?
I had to downgrade mine to EMUI 4, get the unlock code, unlock it for the first time, adb flash TWRP then upgrade back to EMUI 5, use back the same unlock code to unlock the bootloader again. Once updated to EMUI 5, remember to adb flash TWRP for EMUI 5.
I finally got my unlock code, i wrote an email last week asking for the code on the contact form (http://consumer.huawei.com/en/contact-us/?tag=email). After two or three emails moving me from one department to another, the gave me the code.
Thanks. I used dcunlocker on two BTV-W09C128B005 tablets and it worked (8 credits). You have to use the calculator and sub *# with (). Received the same email that says you will brick the device and they don't supply codes, bunch of lies. I also got xposed (think v23) in fine after greatsalon's w09 version of twrp and latest su. Removed the updater and all the other garbage services they use to spy, staying on stock marshmallow for now. Apps used to fly drones like litchi don't work well on nougat but are stable on marshmallow.

UPDATE: unlocked via DC. Very easy and cost me $4.
Sent from my BTV-W09 using Tapatalk
Hi all, I've got myself a bit of a problem. I bought a second hand G6 (LG-H873 Canada) which is unlocked. It works perfectly fine with my Rogers sim card, but whenever I click on check for update it says "this phone is not registered yet" so I contacted both Rogers and LG and I've basically been told that they can't find my IMEI number. Which makes me think that perhaps the IMEI was changed as a result of the unlocking? Or that the previous owner before the fellow I bought it from changed it for whatever nefarious reasons. Anyways, what my question is, since I can't OTA update or use LG Bridge, if I was to use LGUP and download the latest appropriate KDZ would it mess with the IMEI number? I can live with it as is for now, it's just a few security patches behind, but with Oreo coming shortly, I'd like to upgrade to that obviously. But I don't want to flash a stock KDZ and have it restore a potentially changed IMEI and then I'm left with a phone that no longer works. Also, would it in any way effect the unlock on the device? Any help is appreciated guys, thanks in advance!
No, from experince I can tell you that flashing stock kdz does not mess with the imei.
I google your problem and it seems like it only affects lg devices.

I know it's illegal. But I bought this phone second hand, and its a currently working device. Now I don't know what exactly transpired before it came into my possession, but what I do know is that I can't update it, because the IMEI isnt registered. I've contacted both LG and Rogers, and they've essentially said they can't help me? So I figured once Oreo drops I could at least flash it myself, but I'm scared because what if something ****s it up, and I suddenly have a useless phone?
Sorry to say but you might of just got scammed. Again you can try to use LG Bridge or flash a custom rom to update but be careful because you might restore the original IMEI.
Wishing you the best of luck.

I've tried LG Bridge, it says the same thing, that the IMEI isnt registered, so it won't let me update it.
So you're saying though, that if I flashed the stock KDZ with LGUP, it could in fact mess with the IMEI then?
I was reading on a few other forums, that some people had the same issue, and that once they talked to to tier 2 with LG customer care, they ended up just registering the IMEI because those devices had been apparently "giveaways" or something that had never been registered in LG's system. What's the likelihood of that?

Your chances are slim because lg customer service is the worst but you might of well give it a shot. Do you have a online receipt you can give to them for proof. That's maybe could help your odds.

Unfortunately no, I don't. I bought it in a pinch on Kijiji, because my Pixel bit the dust, and the guy I bought it from said he bought it in eBay last year, so he doesn't have anything about it either.
It works, and that's basically all that matters, but I really want the upgrade to Oreo whenever it comes. Otherwise I'm waiting till October to use my upgrade for the inevitable Pixel 3.
Thanks for your help, will probably just wait for stock Oreo KDZ and then try flashing with LGUP, then take it from there.
Okay,it was a pleasure helping you and hope you get android Oreo. ??
Try to use uppercut or lg up to flash latest stock kdz for your phone.Anyway, update via OTA kinda sucks. Not only it takes for ever, but eventually you'll have to make a reset. So why bother, just flash with uppercut or lg up

Check out my speeds. I get like 45 50 mbps down on sprint and 120-150 on tmobile crazy
alright. so i want to say i went this route as well. i have 3 months left on my sprint contract.that being said, i have the files he used during the unlocking process. the problem is there is another thing he did to actually unlock it. he used something called flexihub while it was in the combination firmware to actually do something on his machine that i couldnt see. this is something he did on the modem level, but i confirmed with him that it doesnt matter if i flash another firmware using odin, my sim will still be unlocked. i have tried this with verizon sim and it works. again, my contract is not up with sprint yet, which means my device shouldnt be unlocked, but this somehow works. if anyone else wants this, here is the ebay seller link that i got mine done within an hour. keep in mind that you have to back up your device, because what he does is flash firmware. also he will need access to your computer to work remotely, but he never strayed from what he was doing. for 7 bucks, this is a steal.
