tips tricks for froyo 2.2 (any cust. ROM)

Hi,
Currently i'm using kyrillos 5.5 (based on froyo 2.2 JPM).
I just want to share my experiences and things I did to get my phone running nicely.
- disable "sensor aiding" to get rid of 100% cpu-usage after exiting any GPS based application (also involved in camera crash). you find this setting in settings-'location and security'.
- with kyrillos rom 800 Mhz version, use setcpu or no-frills cpu governor to 'anything but conservative', so I chose (with setcpu) min.800mhz max.800mhz performance, and for screen-off profile 166-800 mhz on-demand governor. Cpu governor at conservative can stick your CPU at 83Mhz..which causes mayor lag as you can imagine.
It's assume it's not a Kyrillos issue, but fugumod (2.4 beta3) problem.
BTW somehow, the 800-800 Mhz. doesn't drain my battery much.
- I finally re-formatted my sd-card to fat32 (so no ext2 ext4 partitions anymore) to keep all memory caching/swapping in RAM and not to sd-card which could wear-out the sd-card in the end. I use class-2 card so could cause more lag because it's too slow for swap/cache/dalvik. Beware that you cannot install too many programs or you run out of memory..but hey do I need 50 games/apps on my phone ?
- I use zeam launcher as this launcher seems to use less memory (only 1 process too, not two as many other launchers). only disadvantage at this time is that auto-rotate doesn't follow your settings in phone, it's either on or off for zeam itself.
Ok I hope I help a lot of people with these tips/tricks.
If you have any additional tips/tricks, please reply so I can learn from it too

That is some nice info...... I would like to add some myself....
For Battery:-
Disable data connection when not in use - drains battery like hell.
Disable Auto Sync - saves some processes and battery.
Brightness - lower screen brightness - the less brightness you keep the more the battery
The video player has it's own brightness so check that too.
Don't use task killers like ATK if you are a newbie and don't know much about system process..... if you kill all the process, some just start again as they are necessary.... instead use the stock task manager or watchdog.
Undervolting - ADVANCED USERS ONLY - please who know what they are doing can undervolt the cpu which increases the battery life by a noticeable margin.... for this you can use an app called pimp my cpu.
Stock Gallery - Spare from Using the Samsung stock gallery, it's a huge battery hog!
For Performance:-
APPS - VERY IMPORTANT - even though we have ext4 partion on sd card we do not have a super-phone that can handle 50 apps running in the background.... so keep passive and active multitasking to a minimum
Tweaks - for increasing performance on our phone you can enable JIT, change file partitions, install overclocked fugumod (800 mHz), fugutweaks.
Widgets - well although widgets are fairly usable and state that application is not actually open but infact they have processes and too many widgets on your home screen can affect your phone's performance as these processes stay even when you are not on your homescreen.
Keep the phone memory reasonably free - i mean the phone storage....
- quick call end: settings/Accessibility/use power button to end call
- quick call pick-up: settings/call/all call/pick up a call with home button
- disable mobile data: long press power button/disable mobile data
- not for froyo but usefull: press more than 10 sec the power button-->hard phone restart
data connection for me, doesnt causing battery drain..

actually what i meant by data connection causing a huge drain was that it consumes more battery.
With all the specified things done i managed to squeeze a hell load of battery..... two days straight of heavy usage ........ sent around 500-600 messages.... talked for about six - seven hours..... and angry birds for 40 minutes before i got the low battery signal!.
addon to tips and tricks on froyo 2.2
Hi all,
I would like to add an already known setting to many and that is :
"switch on USB debug mode" in settings-applications-development.
This fixed for me a lot of frustration with navigon , when used in the car.
Normally after connecting power to the phone in my car, I got popup menu with choice of how to connect, like choice of mass storage, mediaplayer etc. I pressed the back button to get rid of it. Then I started Navigon which showed lot of lag and FC many times during a trip.
After setting usb debug, I don't get this choice menu anymore, and Navigon works like a charm.
Furthermore if I want to transfer data from PC to SD card I still can do this by selecting mass storage in the notification bar of the phone.

Your game heats up because of intensive gaming and usage of apps with high graphics. The snapdragon chipsets come with thermal management which shuts off the device if overheated. So there's no need to worry !

Is your lenovo a6000 wifi weak?

I have lenovo a6000 1gb model and i have noticed that its signal reception is quite weak as compared to other phones. Even sometimes, when the wifi signal is average, the wifi will disconnect automatically and search for networks for a while and will connect again. This happens randomly and more at times while playing games which need internet. I am using cm13 build 2 by ed300 without any custom kernel.
next update there will be option for no optimization it will increase wifi signal but effect battery while using wifi
Thank you so much sir..you have turned this unusable brick to a fast and fluid phone. I have been using your rom from cm12.1...i must say that your cm 13 much better ..no lags at all.. Just dt2w and s2w causes lock screen freeze i hope you will fix that in next update
And please increase the wifi signal strength ....i dont have any problem with the battery backup in your rom....i get a full day usage and charging completes 0 to 100 in just 90 mins...so please look into the wifi..thanks
What is no optimization ?
I m using ED300 CM 13, what is no optimization ? Can u explain me ?

Cellular network strength always red, sudden battery drain.

Hey guys, my ZenFone always has a red cellular network after flashing any custom rom. Only on stock rom it's fine. It's always red no matter where I go, and it's draining a lot of battery.
So on another day, I turned on airplane mode and left it overnight. And then when I checked my phone in the evening, it drained a lot. But towards the end it was shown to be awake, which caused a huge sudden drain.
I have Greenify which prevents background processes, but I doubt Greenify itself takes up much battery.
Anyway to figure out what's causing this problem?
try delete batery cache using app, you can download it from play store

Calibrate your battery . (Simply use any app from play store that can do it )
For red bars : put on 2 sims it will solve the problem .
For wake : use wakelock detector or any similar app and see which app is keeping ur device awake . Force stop that or uninstall it .
Greenify : you can check ur battery stats for Greenify to see how much it consumes (use xposed based feature , its feature rich )
Also try to change your governor it will help you extend few mins of usage . (Use kernel aduitor)
Thank you.

Thank you for replying.
-I'm charging my phone to 100%, will update results after calibrating.
-So even after removing second sim card the red bass won't come back?
-I think I found what caused my device to be awake: Kernel Adiutor. I switch off 2 cores of my CPU using this, to temporarily fix the freeze issue(unlocked bl), but after about 20 minutes I'm unable to switch those cores back on without a hard reboot. Leaving then switched off overnight caused a huge drain, as shown below.
- Greenify doesn't use much at all.
- Governor changing is something I feel will lead to the same result as switching off cpu cores.
EDIT: The pic shows Wi-Fi was on the entire time, but in fact it was switched off the whole time... wonder why
EDIT 2: wakelock detector doesn't work, says 'failed to perform task at the moment, try again later' as soon as i open it.

1: if you remove SIM then yes red bars will come .
So insert both the sims that's the fix .
2:read about different governors ,it will help you understand them , as you mentioned about turning off cores that was simply HOTPLUG governor (my guess ), yes it causes huge battery drain in ZenFone . Try other governor ( yankactive, wheatley, conservative x ........)
3:I think your Wi-Fi is in scanning mode always , so suggest you turn that off .
To turn that off simply get into location setting , tap on the 3 vertical dot (options ) , there would be scanning option set according to ur preference .
Hope this would help you .

1: In cm based roms second sim cannot be deactivated (known bug )
2: Suggest you to turn on all the cores .and use the default governor .
3: Try turning on and then off the Wi-Fi scanning option .
4: Also you can perform a clean install of the Rom (if nothing helps and send a logcat to the Rom developer)

That wasn't the problem, the problem was that my battery suddenly drained due to my phone being awake with screen still off, but thanks for replying anyway.
So battery calibration did nothing. And it seems the cellular signal strength being red is something of a bug for RR for the Zen5, but the person said it doesn't impact battery at all. But in my case it does, it causes over 300 mAh drain in a day.

j5 heat problems

well my phone cpu is always around 40 - 50 at any clock ( 0.8 to 1.2 ) and this produces a heat around the screen ( the phone is blazing fast and smooth consumes a fair amount of battery ) i 've installed before many roms and this problems started when i first used root booster with 6.0.1 then it presisted with any rom i install even flashing official rom don't change the config
my questions is is those thermals normal ?
can somebody screeshot CPU covernor tunable from kernel auditor
and how can i reset my cpu original setting
help plz ;_;
