Hi, there's any way to get that pixel 2 feature on my s8 always on display with root or it is an impossible thing to port?

Hi guys, I noticed that Galaxy S6 doesn't have DOZE (lollipop's ambient display) feature.
I searched on google but the only ambient display feature is for AOSP ROMs with Xposed only (module not working on TouchWiz).
So I was wondering if someone will be able to make this feature for TouchWiz too (Xposed or not).
Thanks in advance
I have noticed once or twice if i get a notification from someone on my edge contacts it acts like a ambient display when i picked it up. Dont know if the screen was still on from it coming in or it turned on when i picked it up. But it definately reminded me of my nexus 6 ambient display with the clock lit at a low light state and the notification on the screen
So thats a good sign of it being possible

Lollipop's Ambient Display is not present in Touchwiz. You can download an app from the Play Store called Active Notifications (and one other app by a similar name with similar function) that basically does that exact same thing - and it should work without root.
(Also, side note "Doze" (not DOZE, an acronym) is not part of Lollipop, nor is it related to the Ambient Display feature. Doze is a new feature in Marshmallow that puts the phone into a high power saving mode when it's not being used.)
Hey folks,
I don't like to use a lock screen on my phone...just not necessary for me.
On 6.x with AOD, I received notifications on the AOD without a lockscreen set.
On 7.0 Beta, the option isn't even available w/o a lockscreen.
Which is annoying. Or am I just dense?

Very happy with my OP5 and glad to see the back of my S7E Edge. The only thing I miss is the always-on display. Is there a way of replicating this on OP5?
Edit: I should add that I'd like a solution that doesn't kill my battery, like all the apps in the Play Store seem to...
Always-on display is a Samsung feature. OnePlus doesn't have such a feature, it could be added if it's a popular request, but for now, nope.
Anybody else noticing burnin already? I am a player of game Ingress, and have this game turned on every day for some time. And I already noticed pretty visible burnin. Does anybody else here has burnin so soon? I am owner of Oneplus 3 and I used it the same way as I do use my OP5 and the burin was noticable much much later after the purchase. It's a shame really.

That's why i always use expanded desktop mode to prevent notificationbar/qs tile burn-ins. Also i use a black Amoled homescreen wallpaper and set the brightness at the lowest readable frequency. But indeed, it's a shame that it is allready visible for an 5 month old device. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it anymore. But to make it not any worser i would suggest you to do the same as i do to prevent more screen burn-ins. Or let it be and play till the screen is not worth it anymore and search for a good screen replacement store/shop or whatver.
I feel bad for you (i know because i had this on 2 other devices also in the past.)
Stock android actually has burn-in protection unfortunately it is not activated by default.

Any idea on how to enable the protection ?
I think the easiest would be using vendor overlay. You can try this premade overlay:

It is targeted for OxygenOS though, for ROMs that are based on lineageOS, the burn in configurations are a bit different if I remember correctly. Also for custom ROMs, you will need to enable it from the settings page.

You're supposed to change up you wallpaper and use dark papers most of the time to prevent burn in. I also use Nova launcher and my swipe up gesture toggles/hides my notification/status bar. This way it's not always on so it doesn't burn in. I also keep my brightness set to auto and just lower is manually when I use maps or any static image that on for long periods of time.
With what I said above, I've never had burn in on any of my AMOLED devices (note 3, note 4, note 10.1 tablet, Nexus 6P and the OP5)
Since our Mido had received Android Oreo 8.1, I just wondered if Mido could have one setting, probably hidden, called Ambient Display
Yes, it's a feature like Pixel device had, it will bring the display keep on with showing time, received notification, etc
And now, maybe someone, could explain. Does our mido can enable the settings? If yes, what things should we have to make our mido have Ambient Display like pixel had? Or maybe this post is useless because our mido doesn't support any pixel feature?
Show your existence in this post, I just wondering if our mido can move one step front
There is already a "Mod" with this features called XiaomiDoze and right know I know only one ROM, AOSCP, has this.
So, I'm on cardinal rn, there's no such mod that can enable it?
i think that this function only it's recommended in oled displays, lcd displays can't turn pixels off

Yea i agree with that, but it's such a nice feature isn't it?
A nice way to drain battery on IPS display panels.
