I'm a long time using XOSP Nougat and out of flashing scene and i'm thinking of using Oreo on my device now.
Which Oreo rom is running more stable and smooth even with a good number of user apps installed?
I'm using LineageOS 15.1 (latest build). It works well. It's more responsive now compared to Nougat (thanks to Android Go). Battery life is the same, although if you modify the cpu governor to make it less likely to go at high frequencies you can expect a bit more.

You could try reflashing your ROM from TWRP or any other recovery installed . Make sure you wipe Dalvik Cache / Cache before you flash the ROM again .
Well as far as I have tested in my Xperia SP(C5302) , my top-picks for Oreo ROMs are:
1. XenonHD - It is the fastes Oreo ROM on Xperia SP I have tested yet . I did face a bit of heavy battery draining , but after flashing a custom kernel , the combo was perfect!
2. Lineage OS - I did not face a single issue with this ROM yet and the battery backup is also good.
3. Cosmic OS - Its based on AOSP and is pretty smooth

what custom kernel you flashed?
It's been a while since I was here...
Great to see the active development still, I'm picking up a SP next week & was wondering what ROM is best for smoothness & speed, but with battery life in mind, I'm not looking for flagship performance of course, but I want the quickest & smoothest definitely, up to now I'm hearing it's XenonHD is this correct?,
Also the ROM needs to have AdrianDC's music light effects implemented, this is a absolute must as this is something that was missing in the earlier years of development when I first had the SP, link attached below https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73049970&postcount=399
Thanks in advance guys for any help & recommendations
LineageOS 15.1 has the music light effects, and it runs good for me.

Lineage OS 15.1 is too laggy and sluggish.
Go with Adrian's AOSP Oreo. It has light effects included, does fine with Pico GApps. Smooth and good battery life.
Edit: After flashing the 27/02 build, it runs very good and smooth. Maybe it was a dodgy flash.

Hello Community,
I am currently on OxygenOS 3.5.6.
Since this is my only device, I would like to try a stable custom ROM with minimal to no bugs with VoLTE (Jio) working.
I have been following Oneplus community forums and came across issues where in there are frequent network drops and bootloops on certain roms. As this is my daily driver, I don't get much time to experiment with various ROM.
Please suggest.
Thanks
Cosmic OS
For a daily driver give slim6 a shot, its smooth, boots up as quick as OOS, currently getting ~5hrs SOT so battery is quite good, and best of all its xposed compatible
If you want to compare options, I also found H2OS to be rock stable as well, I personally just wanted to change after using it as my daily driver for over a year LOL.
P.S. I'm not 100% about VoLTE on slim6 so best double check that

I gave Cosmic a try. It's a nice ROM but I didn't like the stock phone dialer and camera.
Is it possible to flash OxygenOS 3.5.6 camera app and phone app on this? I really like the phone app from OxygenOS 3.5.6
Citrus was good but the fingerprint lag, persistent HD notification and Google Assistant setup every time trying to initiate it made me switch back to OOS 3.5.6.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I've tried HydrogenOS in the past. Don't like the UI.
Looking for a stable, bug free, without fingerprint lag, nougat based daily driver material.
Try AospExtended from the xda forums.it will fullfill all your's needs.

You can use the latest pixel phone dialer. It is much better than the one present in custom roms. Just install it and set it as the default phone app. Alternatively, you can flash the full open gaaps or using aroma installer
First flash H2OS and then lineage-14.1-20170214-nightly-oneplus2-signed.zip with the VoLTE firmware fix. Perfectly stable for me. It does reboot once in a few days, which I think is acceptable.
Try Xenon HD! It's super smooth compared to all other ROMs!
All 7.x roms currently suffer from random reboots and network drops. I tried a few roms and switched back to OOS .
Oneplus need to release the kernel sources for 3.5.x in order for custom ROM makers to uptake and fix this issue.
Hello everybody, just wanted to share my honest review of using custom ROMs on OnePlus X and below are my reviews of a few ROMs :-
1. AOSP_JDC Team: The battery backup and performance are good, and there is no lag. The ROM is stable and fluid.
2. AOSP Oreo 8.1: As usual the performance is good, battery backup is ok and there is no lag.
3. Lineage OS 15.1: Seriously I had a very bad experience with this ROM. When I flashed it there were no issues, the battery backup was excellent but suddenly after half an hour the message kept popping up "android.process.acore keeps stopping", I also flashed the latest build not of any use.
4. Resurrection Remix 5.8.3: This ROM is also good but for me there was Data Connection error.
Currently I'm back on Stock ROM. Its not 100% stock because I modified the stock rom by rooting and using magisk modules. I also flashed Viper4Arise_Sony_Stock_Edition to increase the sound quality.
I'm happy on my modified stock rom. Currently not planning to flash any custom rom. :good:

Recently there have been many Pie rom for our device, I am certain many of you might have tried. As far as I am concern I tried pie rom in the start of their release but I switched back to oreo. As title says Which is best Pie rom till now? Recommendation should be focused on battery life, stability and customisation. As always Thank You.
Generally all pie ROMs have good battery life..
Bt the stability and encryption are my main issues....
I have tried ARROW OS official version(voLTE didn't work for me) , PIXEL EXPERIENCE didn't boot up and currently I'm using NITROGEN OS unofficial =which supports voLTE and has quiet a number of customisations and moreover it is stable also.
"NITROGEN has great battery backup and most importantly it doesn't support encryption?(i hate encryption).
IN the past 4 days i didn't even face a single random reboot.
*Bt it is not that smooth and you feel slow..
So I'm thinking of trying HAVOC OS unofficial...
Will update about it once i try it...
*Update
Tried HAVOC OS unofficial.
Everything is better than NITROGEN OS
and the only issue is encryption.
Hope you can bye pass it...
I have flashed pixel experience pie but facing encryption problem
What is encryption?
I want to flash pie rom on my redmi 3s but, i see everywhere peoples are talking about encryption issue. What is it?

I have been using Aex extended for quite some time now. It's the most stable, I tried many in the meantime but most of them failed to impress me for different reasons.
I saw few members are Praising Syberia official/unofficial, but I haven't tried yet.
Aex Extended pie will be around by Dec 12 otherwise oreo is almost perfect. Wonderful BB/performance balance. More than enough customisation.
Havoc Unofficial by Weritos is really Good... Performance, battery and Customisations...

Try disable dm-verity from latest twrp??
I am using superior os... I have not used any other pie rom... But this one seems to be completely fine for me... Volte, wifi, hotspot all are working great... It comes with gcam 5.1...I am a newbie in this field so i do not know how to exactly check bb... But yes while playing games it last for around 4 hrs.... And as for customizations there are tons of options to customize
I tried many roms for my redmi3s and from my experience I found that PixysOs is the best Rom.
It is smooth and battery consumption by it is very less...and you will also find no. Of customizations..in it.
I surely recommend PixysOs Android Pie Rom installation in your land device .
Till now no other Rom gives that much stability and customizations.:good:
Its been a long time since I've flashed anything on my pure ( I think it's on a slightly tweaked stock marshmallow rom now), and looking around I can't seem to find a recommended rom.
What would you all suggest as the current most stable and fully functional roms and tweaks that I should be looking for?

I recommend updating to stock nougat and flashing the system with SuperSu for root. It's the most stable rom and I get a solid four hours of battery life. Lineage OS has bugs with sound and the audio effects aren't as good. Also Lineage OS has a battery profile I figured out that Stock has one like that but it functions dynamically as the battery life drops the clock speeds automatically reduce and cores turn off but on Lineage based roms if you leave it on balanced it'll drain the battery faster but if you put it on power save you'll struggle with lag and get the same battery life as stock. If you take my advice I don't recommend changing anything in the kernel except the I/0 schedular I set mine to ROW instead of CFQ and apps open faster. Another thing with stock roms don't try changing the partition format in TWRP that'll make it bootloop some people like to set their cache to f2fs and Magisk causes bootloops that's another issue with stock.

They haven't released anything new for the pure/style since nougat, and old builds have been shuffled off their website. Look at the last few pages of this thread. Some users mirrored the last builds after the downloads disappeared. https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/rom-aicp-clark-xt1575-t3222868
My pure died a little over a year ago, but at that time aicp was the best rom. The newer custom roms all seem to have some camera issues. The builds of aicp that are available do require the marshmallow modem stack.
Hello everyone,
I'm using a 2gb Redmi 3s and running Pixel Reloaded pie ROM. Which kernel would you suggest me to flash?
Also can I flash the kernel now without formatting or re flashing the ROM?
I was looking at Chimera, anything better than it for gaming plus a bit good battery backup?
I am running LOS 15.1 based e/ OS on my 2GB variant(because of less RAM consumption). The stock kernel is very barebones and doesn't expose much features to the user. I flashed Chimaera and it works well. Battery backup, performance and idle drain , everything is A-OK.

Among Pie ROMs, I have only tried AEX 6.7. It used 1.3-1.4GB RAM after fresh boot, all stock, no GApps. LOS by e/ foundation (with microG integrated ) averages only around 800-850MB leaving almost a gigabyte available for use. Multi-tasking is now viable once again. Land is my secondary device but it still wasn't a pleasant experience with Pie ROMs. I have also flashed the low RAM enabler patch.
P.S. Carbon Oreo uses 1-1.1GB RAM reportedly.
Oh and have you tried Hyper kernel which was updated very recently? Officially only compatible with P/Q but it worked well in O. But since exFAT support seemed to be missing I switched over to Chimaera.
Thanks to both of you. I will try both of the ROMS as suggested by both of you ASAP.
Once again, thanks to help me..
After using Chimaera kernel for almost a month I can now say that it excels when it comes to idle drain. Mostly 0.2-0.3%/h. Many a times goes below 0.1%/h. Active drain is decent and on par with stock LOS kernel 8-10%/h. General performance is as good as can be expected. No bugs so far.
Oh and here's the link to e/ OS for land in case you are interested

Chimaera isn't officially supported on Android 10 ROMs.
Your recovery is really old. Latest is 3.4.0 R3. Flash the latest TWRP/Orange Fox(I use this) /Pitch Black Recovery etc.

That's strange because AFAIK Chimaera isn't the stock kernel in Havoc Q. Also Chimaera supports DT2W. Use any kernel manager to activate it. If using Franco Kernel Manager check under Kernel settings>Miscellaneous, in Smartpack/Darkness kernel mgr. under Wake Gestures etc.
And you really need to update the recovery if you haven't already. It will solve the issue of not being able to handle encrypted partitions. Plus the ability to deal with ROMs with 4.9 kernel.

If you have the original ROM zip just extract the boot.img from it and flash it in recovery while choosing the partition type as "boot" when asked.
There are more than a few kernels running 4.9. LOS 17.1 unofficial, Corvus OS latest, Pixel-Reloaded latest etc. with more expected to follow. All are Q ROMs. There was even earlier one, LOS 16 by nichcream who was in fact the first to bring 4.9 kernel for land. But it was closed source. The recent release OTOH is open source. Performance wise reportedly pretty good but idle drain is quite high for now.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Fixing high idle drain with Chimaera? Its true that Chimaera is very good in that aspect but its active drain is a bit high. LOS 16 Official is pretty good in both aspects but very little in the way of customization. I use the stock LOS kernel in AEX 6.7 for now. Battery backup is pretty good although idle drain at 0.8%/h is higher than in the LOS ROM itself.

Yes! I tried lineage 17.1, pixel experience plus and now havoc 3.6. I liked very much havoc with its customisation aspects but for some strange reason in my case it uses a lot of battery even at sleep mode. So i thought maybe i can use a deferent kernel...
Is aosp anywhere near havoc's customizing? I'm using the phone as primary, trying to revive it!
I want customisation ability and battery life, I don't play games, any suggestions?

AEX has a good deal of customization (otherwise I wouldn't be using it!) but not as much as Havoc. I think the battery is either degraded or in need of calibration as I have had inconsistent results. Yesterday I could have achieved 12 hour SoT(purely web browsing with a little TElegram) but today it would struggle to breach 7-8 hours. Battery percentage occasionally doesn't budge at all for a long while but at other times it will drop few points within minutes. That being said with LOS kernel in AEX battery life is still decent. Accubattery estimates SoT at over 9 hours. YMMV.
