Is there a way to enable 4g on redmi note 1 even if it doesnt support 4g ? Are there any work arounds?
No. Of course not. 4g is a hardware related feature not a software based.
you can't enable 4g by software without hardware support
Ty, well just asking to see if there are some tweaks in the hardware and software all so it could get 4g. But anyways cheers and ty
Hi guys, on redmi 4 prime we have a problem in miui roms there is not working hd voice when i connected to 3g, on custom roms linage, mokke, RR is working fine but on lovely miui not (((((
Is not VoLTE, is not 4g hd voice, is just simple hd voice which using amr_wb codec. On weekly developers roms when is enabled and working on call screen must be this icon (tested on mi4c)
Maybe someone know it is posible to enable in miui this function?
On enmiui forum developers ignore this problem.:crying:
Yes, same story with mi5s.

MIUI forum does not respond. Looks like this feature was intentionally disabled in some ROMs for some reasons.

You know you can buy MI 5X.
Everyone will be giving you advise to buy mi 5x coz both r identical twins in terms of hardware. So it may be very ridiculous to buy a mi A1 and install miui on it . When you have a thing in market then why experiment with other to make like it.

I guess it has been said an uncountable number of times: A1 and Mi 5x ARE NOT IDENTICAL in terms of hardware.

They are not identical but on the outside they are very similar and they have roughly the same price.
So, return your A1 and get a 5x, bruh

If band 20 is really important for someone and wants miui than he will buy phone like Redmi Note 4 which has similar specs and its cheaper than A1.
@prashantxpe Just out of curiousity: Are you going to open a new thread every two months about wether or not someone has ported MIUI for you? Two months ago you also mentioned that you can help porting. How far is your progress here? Do you have a github tree others can contribute to?
Nope...next one will probably be about volte or "where is Oreo, shame on you xiaomi".

Just another classic MIUI thread. Just buy a 5X.
Buy redmi note 4 3/32gb, or make custom MIUI rom.

mi a1 and 5x both are same in harware, why the h--l i post that s-it if i have a way to buy mi 5x.....i am not from xiaomi corp. ceo.....
read this carefully************-mi 5x is not available or to be shipped to all countries********those who always say buy mi 5x, then i will be tell buy if for me & i will pay u...if u cant then dont give me arrogant advices ....... noobs
When we get Treble ported it will be easy, don't worry - I'll do it myself. 6X will be Treble enabled MIUI.
But the priority for me right now is to get my A1 screen fixed first, then work on Project Treble.
Asking the same thing over and over won't make it happen faster.
No need to be abusive and say "get 5x instead idiot", yes it's a repeat post and it's annoying but it's perfectly reasonable to want MIUI ported, it's nice to have options. 5x doesn't have seamless partitions. I bet you guys would also say "Why do you want AOSP on 5x you should of gotten an A1 idiot".
But Why? Go for other devices like Mi 5x or Redmi note 4 if 5x is not available in your country.

A/B partitioning is the problem in my opinion, MIUI doesn't support it at all, maybe one day we will receive It, but now...there's just an option, pay (a lot) for a repartitioning tool, remove A/B then port a MIUI.
I agree with Cosmic Dan and I would like to add that the 5X does not have support for certain freq bands even though both share the same hardware. This is because 5X is not a global release device.
It is perfectly normal for someone to have an A1 and desire to have MiUi. If we apply your logic then the devs at Nexus forums making MiUi or people trying to port touchwiz or sense to their phones are totally wasting their time, huh?

A/B partitioning IS the biggest hurdle.
Why do you need to pay for a partitioning tool when Parted is available, trusted for years and is completely free?
(Warning - I am not responsible if you attempt a botched repartitioning of your phone using Parted and transform it into a pretty Paperweight)
For the greater good, mods please lock down the thread.

I don't really know how to do it, i saw this tool months ago in a video, with a real Mi A1 with MIUI 9 installed, i don't really care about MIUI, i've got a Mi A1 for Android One

Moto gives volte on 1 sim currently. But I came across an article wherein Mi has given one of its device dual volte support to its device using OTA update and also when moto enabled volte for airtel in Moto E4 with an OTA update.
I don't understand the logic behind, but I thought volte support was something hardware related then how can they change it over OTA?
If it is possible can there be a possibility of dual volte support as well as airtel volte support on potter using a custom ROM
First of all wrong section and second it's not possible until Motorola decides to give an update for this which is not gonna happen.

Can't anyone modify the latest TWRP flashable stock rom to support dual volte?
Then again, it would be just like an OTA, just modified by non - Motorola developers.

So the changes which Motorola may make in an update, can't be done by the xda developers? And you are basically saying that it is not a hardware thing?

Yes it requires a software update from Motorola. I have seen devs talk about it on telegram they said it's not possible without Motorola update.
But I don't think Motorola is going to do that
G5 Plus (Potter) is one of the best-selling mobiles ever by Motorola if they are not going to give such an update to this device, then what are they going to do with all the Human resource they have just loitering around!
Buyers, these days, judge OEMs based on how they supported their older best-selling devices and then make a decision whether to buy their current products or not, no wonder the company is not doing well since the recent past. Entire G6 line up failed due to this kind of approach. New players like Asus are pouring everything to attract buyers and Moto had Gold (loyal customers) in their hand yet they have been neglecting us.
Yeah the MI A1 uses the same X9 LTE modem as Potter. I was hoping the devs could do some sort of reverse engineering to get it working on G5 plus too. Honestly I didn't think dual VoLTE would work on the SD625. Don't you guys think Moto isn't listening to their customers? Kinda sucks right seeing the MI A1 have that and the G5 plus with the same hardware not have Dual VoLTE. Or maybe I am thinking too much?

This is what I was thinking. I still don't understand what an update specifically from Motorola could do which the devs can't. May be because I don't have the technical knowledge to understand but seems wierd to me that an OTA update from Motorola can change this but not devs
Okay so did some digging around and found out on the OnePlus forums ( They too are talking about Mi A1) that the Radio Modem is logical and tuneable unlike the WiFi modem which is purely hardware based. Some are even suspecting an exteral inactive modem on the SoC which is now being activated along with the FM Radio (it didn't have FM radio until Pie update). And for that Dual VoLTE feature to work there needs to be an OTA from the OEM.
So I think we are not getting that feature.
Edit: Snapdragon 632 uses the same X9 modem and has dual sim dual volte. So I guess it all comes down to the OEM.

It will need baseband update. Its impossible to do this without Motorola. Nothing devs can do about this.
