Hi everyone, little update here we have Root for either 5.0.2 or 5.1.1.
If you still on LP 5.0.2 you can safely root your Device using LG One Click Root or Kingroot and if you are using T-mobile (H631) or Metro (MS631) you can safely flash Custom Recovery (TWRP 2.8.7.0 Thanks @Unjustified Dev) and flash the LP 5.1.1 Flashable ZIP (thanks @GameTheory )
NOTE: There is no Custom Recovery for Boost Variant neither KDZ file yet.
NOTE 2: If you take the OTA or Update using LG Software (Tmo and Metro) you'll get LOCK Bootloader but no wories there after Rooting using new 5.1.1 Method you can safely Unlock Bootloader by going under "Developers Options" and check " Enable OEM Unlock " and flash Custom Recovery using Flashify (THIS ONLY WORKS FOR T-MOBILE AND METRO)
NOTE 3: if you are on LP 5.0.2 or LP 5.1.1 just go CLICK HERE to Root, Install Custom Recovery and/or get Flashable LP 5.1.1 Update
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS IMPORTANT/ WARNING.
I recommend using the KDZ file is if your Device is UNRECOVERABLE, Reason why b'cuz once you restore your phone using this KDZ you'll loose having the Bootloader Unlock and ability to Root so TAKE THIS AS LAST RESOURCE.
NOTE : This Process Will WIPE your device including device internal storage. (External SDCard are safe)

I guess another method to recover. If anyone needs it.

That's good to know....have question for you:
1- will this process doesn't update you device if you are on 5.0.2 to 5.1.1?
2. Were you root? Or trying to root?
3. What happend when you got soft-brick?

1- will this process doesn't update you device if you are on 5.0.2 to 5.1.1?- correct it processes the update to 5.1.1 if there is an error when you root you can use it but will get locked boot loader. Which is better then a dead phone.
2. Were you root? Or trying to root? I was on 5.1.1 tried kingroot got a soft brick.

I accepted the OTA to 5.1.1 on my Stylo, is there a way to root it at all? been searching all over and found nothing hopefully a root method and bootloader unlock method for us running 5.1.1 will be avilable. thanks again for the info!

The updates as of now seem to lock the bootloader even on T-MOBILE...and for me all the Boost devices I've owned were either unlocked or had a workaround but not this one :/

When recover using KDZ (latest version) does lock the Bootloader, but with T-mobile and Metro can be easy unlock by just checking OEM Unlock un developers option , Boost and other variant don't have this luxury of Unlocking Bootloader.

You can Restore using KDZ if you have one, That will erase any trace of root and custom recovery.
Is it possible if so how to do it
Don't think so. I heard that the bootloader is different in PD8. Can't hurt to try though, right?
let me know if you can I would like to downgrade to PD7 so I can flash SM-G935U since it is also U2
---------- Post added at 06:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:54 PM ----------
You can try flashing the ENG BOOT then downgrading it to PD8
Yes its possible. Go to the firmware thread and download the pd8 firmware and extract it. Open Odin and put each file in it's respected place (file that starts with ap in the ap slot, CSC in the CSC slot etc) and then flash. After reboot you should be good to go. Warning though, make sure you have everything backed up somewhere else though because it will wipe your entire internal data.

I don't believe we can flash it on anything with a v3 bootloader.
We're out of luck until the SM-G935U's bootloader is updated.
Apparently T-Mobile is the only one pushing out the new bootloader. ATT & Verizon can still flash SM-G935U firmware.

I don't understand what the big deal is? I was on pd8 and did Odin (NOT OTA) to pg1. I then did Odin from pg1 to pd8. Why is everyone trying to figure out of it works? What's different about the bootloader because I even flashed the pg1 bootloader and then went back to pd8.

I wanted to know you you could wip up a quick tutorial or steps for us . I can tell its really simple and easy. but once we unzip the firmware wont it then lose the md5 has and signature. of are the 5 files inside also signed.

Since they are all official and signed files I would assume that this would not trip knox. But I can not verify for sure. Also I thought knox checks to see if the boot loader is unlocked.
I have another question. with an unlocked boot loader don't we still have the problem of dm-verity being enabled that would stop use form flashing mods and roms.

I like the simple design and battery life of this version when I had it in 2014 on a G900A. This Marshmallow and Lollipop stuff is absolute bs. Battery life on Lollipop gives me 4 hours and Marshmallow about 2 hours. I'm hoping that KK would give me better performance and battery life on this G900V.

Nope, only showed this 'Qhub' thing in device manager and didn't show in odin. Found a PD1 unbrick img, wrote it to a sd card with win32 disk imager, put in the sd, held the buttons for download mode, and it booted. Yeah, A total hard brick. I'm not gonna do that anymore, lmao. Found a great way to disable a phone though.
I also have a cid 15 g900v, what can that do compared to a cid 11? I know a bootloader unlock but what's that mean? I can install any rom?

Locked bootloader is called locked because it can only boot a signed, stock kernel (boot.img).
It's locked in SM-G900V by default.
CID15 means that you can unlock the bootloader and use a custom/modified kernel, if you want.
For example, it's necessary for LOS or for rooting on Android 6.0 and above.

Or you could sell the CID15 phone to me via swappa to make a little $$$? I'm actively looking for one...
I just downgraded from BPB1 and unlocked bootloader and disabled Reactivation lock last night. CID (15) I think it's CID, but 15 none the less. Also I knew the login info for Samsung account. I believe you have to know. I still have all files, but I don't know how I'd get them to you. Also have a paid FlashFire.APK. I can also tell you what you need to fill when it comes time to flash NCG via FlashFire. LET ME KNOW, BUD. Took me months to find all files and the correct method. Now on 6.0.1. Fully rooted.
Anyone updated their's yet and are there any changes worth noting?

Probably be a good idea to hold off updating on this, especially if you cross-flashed just to make sure it doesn't break anything for the ATT version.

So i went ahead and updated using upgrade in LGUP and so far so good.
I cross flashed AWM oreo with ULM oreo using the LGUP 1.14 from thread cross flashed AWM Oreo with Korean Oreo. Then I refurbished the AWN with the latest ULM Pie. So far no problem.

How did you flash this firmware? I am on V350N20c_00_KT_KR_OP_0405.kdz and LGUP refused to cross flash this firmware. It failed at 5%.
What error message are you getting? Are you using the correct version of the LG UP? May be do an incremental upgrade (install previous ULM version then the newest) instead of jumping directly from KR version. Also, your download could be corrupt, may be download again. Be careful though, there are a few mentions of ppl bricking their phones due to experimenting around.
Edit: In my case, it was my spare AT&T V35 on AT&T stock 8.0 and i directly flashed the new 20E ULM version using refurbish option.

I used LGUP and upgraded from the 20d to the 20e with no issues. Don't notice much difference. I do remove pretty much all the bloat. Hope it works out for you.

No. You can't use Uppercut on anything past Nougat. Uninstall it and never speak of it again.
To flash firmware you want Dev Patched LGUP.
