Yesterday I gave rooting a shot and followed all the steps exactly, but something still went wrong. Right after I failed to root I was put in a boot loop, I've been looking for a couple days to restore or just clean install android over again. Kies and Smart Switch both do not work for me, and Odin won't flash for me it will always either stop at "NAND Write Start!!" or it will continue for a little later and Fail the flash, I really need help with this any and all help would be amazing!

Hey,
I have following problem:
Few days ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 Lte (I9505 jfltexx). I wanted to root it and then flash CM onto it.
Rooting went fine but when I flashed CM it aborted with Error 7. After that it was soft bricked but i managed to flash the Stock Rom back and everything was fine again.
But today I tried it again but got following problem. CWM was gone and i had to reflash it. But then everytime I tried to get into recovery mode the phone freezed at the "Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505" Logo with the little blue "recovery booting" in the left upper corner. I tried to flash CWM and also twr but it did not help.
SO my final thought was flashing the stock rom again to at least have a working phone. But when I tried to flash the Stock Rom ODIN failed and my phone gave this error "SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused:2, Binary: 1".
Then every time it started it booted into download mode and said "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies & try again". I googled how I can solve this and someone said that it has something to do with root. So again I flashed the CF auto root and thank god it booted up normally.
But now my problem: I have no root on my phone(superSu says that there are no SU-binarys), I can't update my stock-firmware because the software update says that my phone has been changed. What can I do to 1. gain root access again 2. flash a custom rom(best would be SlimBean)?
Hope you can help me

What is this great advantage that rooting and installing cf brings, that makes you run the risk of destroying your brand new, very expensive phone?

Ok, I'm just wandering what big difference it makes. What extra does it enable your phone to do? I mean it must be really good to run this risk.

First of all it's the principle that I don't want to have a phone where Samsung tells me what to do and what not. Then there are things like root which are necessary for me because I'm also using it to test my apps which require root access. And also of course apps from the play store which need it. I'm currently using Slimbean because there's no AOKP build for the I9505. It requires less space on the phone, it's heavily customizable and it has the look of vanilla android. And a huge portion of why I am doing this is just me being curious about such things.
In the end it worked and I learned very much new stuff.
Sry 4 bad english
Hey your English is very good mate. And I was just curious as to why you run the risk, thanks for explaining it to me. I rooted and put a new rom onto an orange san francisco (zte blade) once. But that was not an expensive phone. My wife would kill me if I messed up this s4 with almost 2 years of contract to go lol
Hi I posted this in an existing thread but figured I may be better off starting my own.
I have a stock 4.3 note 3 on voda UK. Downloaded the sanmobile firmware and followed their mini guide to flash it.
However it failed at about 95% when i boot now i get a firmware failed to install use kies to restore error. I can still boot back to download mode, but am not sure what to do to get it back on.

Make sure you are downloading a correct firmware, USB debugging mode on, run Odin as administrator and try again

Thanks, I figured it out by following a guide. I'll post basics in case anyone else struggles with the same;
Went back to Odin 3.07. Had to re-partition it, then do a factory reset at boot loop.
When it came on it was spanish, but i think it was the first time i switched it on too.

Glad you fixed your phone :good:
OK, So I have rooted some phones through Odin and have some experience regarding them. Today I was trying to root a Grand 2 G7102 when Odin crashed unexpectedly and my root process stopped and that is where my problems began. The phone now only boots into Odin downloading mode and the recovery mode is not working, Tried to repair it using Kies but it kept on giving me errors on the last step and it always stopped at 76%, next I tried to flash a custom ROM through Odin but that failed too. So any solutions or remedies for that?

no its depends upon whether you are able to boot after switching off the device
(if it doesn't then you got it bricked)
BTW till now there is no such problem that the anyone is stuck at download mode

Based on what you said, I think it's bricked. I tried the process you told me to do but it didn't work either and the phone isn't powering on at all.
The best option is giving it to the service center. Thanks for helping anyway. Gained experience from this though.
Used this method for my Note 4 Sprint version
https://androidmtk.com/root-samsung-galaxy-note-4-sm-n910p-sprint
Download everything
Started it up, got a FAIL message & my phone just hanged on the downloading process & no other option!
I turned off my phone, now when I turn on my phone i get this message
"firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies & try again"
I can't even get to the home screen or retry rooting it.
HELP
how can I get rid of the message
"firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies & try again"
EDIT:
There are two youtube videos for this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jfgq6bYfKLg
This doesn't link where they got the Samsung recovery file
This video is very hard to understand what he is saying
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th2Jy9QXhxo
Something about downloading KIES or something.
Do you have a recovery, like twrp? If so, just reinstall a stock rom

No, I don't.
Bought the phone used & wanted to root. Followed the instructions, but it didn't work & I don't know where to get the twrp or how to re-install the stock rom.
Is there any links to it for the Sprint Galaxy Note 4?
Do I just run Odin again & select the twrp?
O.k. I downloaded the stock firmware & selected it when using Odin, my phone is back to stocks!
Thanks for all the tips.
Ok so I received my new carrier unlocked s5 phone today I tried the brick bug app it says its a 11 device, the android version is BPB1 = 5.0
what can I actually do with this device?
I went threw the setup wizard and then downloaded kingroot to the phone and ran the app and it did not work for rooting. says (root failed no strategy now)
so I was unable to root is this device even root-able. can I do anything to get a custom recovery I would prefer philz touch or Clockwork mod recovery should I just pitch this phone ?
feeling hopeless.
ok so since the kingroot app did not work I tried the method located here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
rebooted the phone and then was stuck in a boot loop had to reflash to get it to boot back up still no root...
please help me I have no idea what to do now.
is this phone root able at all is any devs still working on this or no.
what do I do ?

yes It rebooted my phone and downloaded/flashed whatever u call it with Odin but after the phone rebooted it would not boot just was stick on the loading samsung screen for about 5 mins so it bricked on me I had to download the stock flash from the official website and re flash the AP to get the phone to even come back on as restoring it from the stock recovery did nothing.
It bricked after flashing NK2_kernel, correct?

That was supposed to happen. Restart the process but read ALL of the instructions in root.bat

No, that would disrupt the rooting process. Part of the rooting process is the phone getting softbricked.
Yes I tired phone was in download mode, debugging was on pc was set to remember, verify was unchecked. flashed via odin but the phone never reconnected after words
Idk why but that has happened to me before so yeah That can happen sometime
So flash nk2 kernel again and use root2 bat
Ok after about a hour or so I was fully able to do this on a 11 device using Kingroot/Safestrap .
