Hey,
I have following problem:
Few days ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 Lte (I9505 jfltexx). I wanted to root it and then flash CM onto it.
Rooting went fine but when I flashed CM it aborted with Error 7. After that it was soft bricked but i managed to flash the Stock Rom back and everything was fine again.
But today I tried it again but got following problem. CWM was gone and i had to reflash it. But then everytime I tried to get into recovery mode the phone freezed at the "Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505" Logo with the little blue "recovery booting" in the left upper corner. I tried to flash CWM and also twr but it did not help.
SO my final thought was flashing the stock rom again to at least have a working phone. But when I tried to flash the Stock Rom ODIN failed and my phone gave this error "SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused:2, Binary: 1".
Then every time it started it booted into download mode and said "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies & try again". I googled how I can solve this and someone said that it has something to do with root. So again I flashed the CF auto root and thank god it booted up normally.
But now my problem: I have no root on my phone(superSu says that there are no SU-binarys), I can't update my stock-firmware because the software update says that my phone has been changed. What can I do to 1. gain root access again 2. flash a custom rom(best would be SlimBean)?
Hope you can help me

What is this great advantage that rooting and installing cf brings, that makes you run the risk of destroying your brand new, very expensive phone?

Ok, I'm just wandering what big difference it makes. What extra does it enable your phone to do? I mean it must be really good to run this risk.

First of all it's the principle that I don't want to have a phone where Samsung tells me what to do and what not. Then there are things like root which are necessary for me because I'm also using it to test my apps which require root access. And also of course apps from the play store which need it. I'm currently using Slimbean because there's no AOKP build for the I9505. It requires less space on the phone, it's heavily customizable and it has the look of vanilla android. And a huge portion of why I am doing this is just me being curious about such things.
In the end it worked and I learned very much new stuff.
Sry 4 bad english
Hey your English is very good mate. And I was just curious as to why you run the risk, thanks for explaining it to me. I rooted and put a new rom onto an orange san francisco (zte blade) once. But that was not an expensive phone. My wife would kill me if I messed up this s4 with almost 2 years of contract to go lol

Hello, I am having problems with rooting my galaxy note 3 model SM-N900R4 on US cellular. I followed the instructions on true-android.blogspot.com
My problem comes when It gets stuck after the root and stays to the title screen "Samsung Galaxy Note 3". There will be the Seandroid error In the top left corner too. I restart the phone by going to download mode and selecting cancel to reboot the phone. Everything passed in Odin 3.07 and i went to root checker after the reboot and saw that I'm not rooted. Please help, I'm on android 4.3 Stock.

This article used SM-N9005 but for 4.4 to root so I'm guessing the one for 4.3 will be safe to use as well. I have SM-N900W8 and works on mine and also for a Tmobile N3.

Not necessarily but if you had one installed, you can just flash supersu to gain root.
I'm eager to root my 4.3/mje note3 but my last phone was an s3 rooted through twrp. I (a noob) have forgotten how to use Odin and install custom roms through any other method. Would some patient soul please point me to the process?
It's probably a sticky here some where. Thanks!

Hi all,
I recently switched over from apple to Android, it was all going really well until recently my phone soft bricked....
Ill try and be as detailed as i can, and respond as quickly as possible.
The phone specs

The phone boots and sticks at the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen.
I cant access the recovery mode.
I can access Odin.
I would love to get the phone rooted and maybe a mod on it, but as of right now its incapable of doing anything, ive read around the forums for the past 2 nights on how to fix the phone but all have come up fairly dry.
Would love some fresh input and help
Thanks Guys and Gals!

Goto sammobile download for i337m, they are all Bell based but they will get you going. Make sure you download the right one, 4.3 or 4.4 if you took the update before you started messing around. You say you can't get into recovery, would be helpful to know what it was you were trying to do to get here....

Thank you, and it was on 4.3, and the phone would randomly restart itself, that started probably a week ago, and then it started doing it more often till it got to the point where, i was like screw it, ill factory reset, and after the factory reset, it has appeared to get stuck in a bootloop, but the bootloop wont allow me to enter recovery mode either...
Ive been through multiple tutorials and what not on how to access the recovery, i had accessed the recovery before it stopped allowing access to it.
Very frustrating..but thanks for a pointer in the right direction.

I had the same exact problem. Flashing CWM Recovery got me out of that nasty screen. You don't need to use the recovery - the mere act of installing it seems to have done the trick for me.
In the end I couldn't root but I am glad my phone works.

Andy Ibanez, I love you man! I thought i was in deep muck when i came across your solution. Thank you once again!
It sounds like you had a failed i.e. partial write and /or partition corruption.
Flashing a custom recovery is an expedient fix, but you may still have corrupt partitions that can cause you problems later. You should find the appropriate PIT (partition information) file to match your current firmware and flash that to assure a stable system.
Hey there
I had the same problem. The screen showed the ' firmware issue' message.
I used the odin 3.09 to flash the CF Root again and this time it worked properly.
i didn't loose any files and the root works perfectly

Please can anyone help? "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing" N910C Apologies in advanc
Hi,
I realise that this is a common problem and that the usual response is "go read"
Here's the short version:
Bought the phone secondhand ROM installed is some varient of 5.1.1 afaik, tried to back up the ROM before trying otrher ROMS, CWM didn't work - read some threads - tried TWRP which seems to be installed, got into a boot loop, read some more threads - tried to install glamour S6 from TWRP, nothing happened now getting "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing"
Absolutely no idea where to start - I've had android phones before and always successfully rooted and installed ROMS before.
If anyone could help I would be very grateful as I don't want to make it even worse.
TIA....

Yes, possibly...
However, what I did was try to back up the supplied ROM first.
So that I would be less likely to bugger it up

I don't think I can flash anything at the moment ?
All I'm getting is "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing" in a loop.
Not sure where or how to start

Can I do anything useful from there ?

well, by flashing i meant downloading a frimware from sammobile or... and using odin to install the stock rom , dont let that "kernel not seandroid enforcing" get on you nerve that one doesnt really matter , only way to solve your prob is to install a stock frimware...
about the slow download speed try searching the latest frimware name on google and a direct link from another download site might probably come up...

Hi,
Thanks that's what I've been trying to do, downloaded 3 ROMs before you suggested that one. Finally worked out that unzipping them in windows was causing errors (reason unknown) switched to a different zip program and the ROMs are ok now. Still wouldn't install in Odin, switched to a different PC - same problem - bought a new quality USB lead and I've now installed the ROM suggested by you, I don't know whether the other ROMs would have installed as I didn't try with the new USB cable.
All the operations in Odin carried out successfully, I've now got a slightly different problem - when Odin finished, the phone booted:
"Samsung Galaxy Note 4" "powered by Android" then just SAMSUNG logo in the middle of the screen with some music - then back to the "Samsung Galaxy Note 4" "powered by Android"
I've had to take the battery out to stop the bootloop - I have looked for answers to this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358554645
I'm a bit reluctant to randomly try fixes in case I make it worse ?
If anyone can help me out of the boot loop ?

Maybe the version that your phone was running was "coj5" Build of 5.1.1. this is the latest build of 5.1.1 and it basically locks down your phones bootloader you can't flash any old 5.1.1, 5.0.1 or 4.4.4 firmwares just go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910C/PAK/ and download the top firmware which is coj5. flash it and it might take you out of the bootloop (do a factory reset first) it will lock your bootloader to run only 5.1.1 or newer builds but since you have already tried other roms i think its worth it atleast you will have a working phone. (don't worry about csc being PAK it does not have any additional bloat)
Just in case it's of any help to anyone in the future.....
The unzipping problem was down to unzipping inside windows - as soon as I used winrar, no more corrupt files.
The install from Odin problem was down to a knackered USB cable.
Many thanks to Captain Droid and everyone else.
I got out of the last bootloop by repeatedly wiping the caches, after about 3 wipes it booted and seems to be running ok...
I'm very pleased to have it working again
Is there's a safe/best way to try other ROMs or is it a case of best leave alone ?
Less bloatware would be nice - or is there a way to properly remove some of it ?
I have N910CXXU2COL2_N910COLB2COL1_THL installed atm
What's the best currently available custom ROM for the N910C ?
Do not be afraid to ask dumb questions; they are easier to handle than dumb mistakes
Is there any obvious reason why Rom Manager can't install a custom recovery with this Rom ?

Hi,
I've installed this and am grateful to have a working ROM. I thought that after installing this, I would be able to install other ROMs ?
I would like to back up EFS and the current install before trying to install another ROM, ROM Manager won't work, so I have tried to back up EFS from Philz Touch Recovery, that hasn't worked either. It couldn't write to SD1 but claimed to have written to the phone, but hadn't.
I've also tried to install Sixperience from Philz, without any success - another bootloop. I eventually managed to reinstall the THL ROM via Odin.
Is it possible to back up EFS from the THL ROM ?
Can I install sixperience from Odin ?
Is sixperience the best ROM to try ?
TIA.....

Hi
I face the same problem last 2 month ago ,,, & Solution it was very Easy but not seen ,,, ok listen first you should do start with the following steps & your phone will be alive again ^_^ :

Hello everyone, hope all is well.
I was trying to install a factory ROM for my Galaxy S7 Edge and during the process, I believe I went and flashed a wrong ROM file (I think it was Galaxy S6 Edge's).
Anyways, due to that, my phone is completely bricked (softbricked? because I can turn it on?).
The problem I'm having is that when I turn on the device normally, it will show the GALAXY S7 EDGE logo but then it'd go straight into recovery mode.
In the recovery mode, it'd say "dm-verity verification failed.. " , "E: failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)". Then when I press Apply update from ADB/SD Card, it gives an error saying "Update from external storage is disabled".
I am able to get into the download mode also and downloaded correct factory ROM and flashed it but it gives me an error saying "Odin protocol version error" in the phone, and in Odin, it stops at "Initializing..." and the program crashes after 5 minutes or so.
I there anything I can do to unbrick this dude? I've been searching all over the place yesterday and could't find a right solution for me so I decided to write one myself.
Thanks in advance and I'll appreciate any help.

First of all why were you trying to flash a stock Rom? Next its a piece of cake take it to your local warranty store and ask them to flash your stock ROM as long as you didn't try to root it they should fash it for you. I've done it many times. Just tell them you were charging it overnight and had it turned off and when you booted up the next morning it was going crazy.
As I said if you weren't trying to root they should do it for you.

I was on a rooted Galaxy S7 firmware for development purpose but I wanted to take it back to factory setting and un-root the device by installing a fresh new one.

That sounds like a clever idea but if there's any way I could try to do it by myself before I take it to them, I wanted to try.

Well now I couldn't flash any of the firmwares out there that I found. I kept on getting the same error stated above. It is usa at&t model.
Perhaps, is there a custom ROM and/or other steps you'd recommend me to try?
Thanks for your replies though, I appreciate it very much.

I will try what you have suggested. But isn't twrp only install-able when the phone is actually turned on to OS? As far as I've researched, I saw that it needs to have developer mode on.

I tried to download one here http://androiding.how/galaxy-s7-edge-twrp-recovery/ and tried to flash it but I get the same error => "Odin protocol version error!", and stuck at "Initialization..".
Do you think you could verify if that link could be the one I'm looking for?

i am not a dev mate just learn from observation lol but from other devices i have seen them bricked if thats not been allowed in dev options but i am not 100% sure on this one service center is probs you best bet as some one said earlier as am sure if thats not checked nothing can be flashed as that command allows it its like the bootloader is still locked kind of thing
I would take it a service repair center before messing it up anymore, just to be on the safe side, you never know with these things, yeah it might be fixable but if knox isn't voided then you can just have it repaired properly for free.
