Oneplus 5 Wi-Fi problem - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hello, i need some help...
I've already searched and tried a lot of ways to fix my problem but nothing worked.
Suddenly the Wi-Fi of my Op5 stopped working, i cant even turn on... And also the phone doesn't recognize sim cards. The phone isn't rooted.
I've already made factory reset, flashed another rom, cleared cache, etc...
Thanks in advance.

Check if Your both sim's IMEI and WLAN MAC address are displayed correctly.
Sounds like corrupted EFS partition to me. Try to restore backup (if You have one). I think You can't fix this issue without a backup. So only way is to send it to OP for repair (i guess on warranty it should be free).

[Q] recently unlocked S5 can't register to any networks

Hello, I've had my s5 for a while on a Vodafone contract with no problems. The phone was rooted and had a custom recovery. I recently got it unlocked from a local shop due to moving contracts and now since then the phone will not connect to a single network. I have tried 3 different sims from different networks and all the same result. I flashed to stock again and no help. My device status reads:
Network: unknown
Mobile Network type: unknown
Service state: out of service
Mobile network state: disconnected
Phone number and IMEI are correct.
Dialling *#06* shows my correct IMEI. I can't get into any service menus due to no root now, and my EFS folder appears empty
Any help will be useful, thank you
Was root broken by the unlock? A SIM unlock shouldn't break root. First try wiping your system cache from recovery mode. If the problem persists, then your best bet would be to restore your backup which will certainly resolve your issue and let you proceed from a stable position. If you don't have a backup, what the hell? Why wouldn't you be making backups?
As (a much less desirable) alternative, make a backup at this point or at least save any important files or photos. Then temporarily install a 100% stock ROM followed by a factory data reset. This is to rule out software issues other than EFS. If your phone now works, then it was a matter of a broken root or conflicting settings.
If you still have problems, then you need to provide a lot more information if you want good advice. We can't see your handset so if you don't give us a lot of details all anyone can do is flail around in the dark and make guesses. Try your SIM card in another unlocked phone to confirm that it still works. Confirm that you wiped your system cache and tried a factory data reset. And tell us step by step what you've tried so far.

Thanks for the reply, I will describe as best I can what is happening:
Firstly as the phone rebooted from the unlock I could not register to any networks. Root was still there and TWRP also . I restarted the device, and nothing happened. So next I tried a different aim and still I have no network. Both aims work in another phone. I did what you mentioned next and restored a backup and still no fix.
I tried factory resetting and wiping the cache and again, no fix. Then I flashed the stock firmware through ODIN which had no effect either.
If I use the sim in another handset then return to my s5 with it on first boot up it registers to EE and pulls a signal with no Internet, then quickly unregisters to emergency calls only.
Thank you for your help, I will give any info about the device that you need.

[Q] EFS / IMEI / Network Issues, unable to find an answer

Long story short, a week ago I tried to encrypt a new rom and the rom did not show the encryption process, and after 3 hours I thought something went wrong and rebooted it. This is where the problems started. I obviously corrupted my EFS.
I tried installing stock firmware from sammobile, several different versions, and none worked. I looked through dozens and dozens of threads on here, and other sites, and found various solutions for EFS problems but everything entailed making a copy of the EFS and restoring it. Before I found these, I tried something else (I can't remember what), and apparently destroyed my EFS and was stuck at bootloader. After a lot of research I found a thread on here, for recreating the EFS partition, which allowed me to boot my phone into Android again, except it is stuck in factory mode. Network was still not working, IMEI was still wrong. After flashing a new modem, my phone detected my simcard, shows network detected, I can choose my APN and network, but network is still not working. No data, no sms, no calls. I've flashed several different stock firmwares again, and phone is still in factory mode, and IMEI is still on 0049. Factory reset and everything, wiped cache, flashed latest TWRP. I installed root browser, and it is showing the necessary files and folders in the EFS folder. Oh, and knox has been tripped, so no official firmware upgrade through Kies.
Before someone suggests sending phone in for repairs, or giving up hope, the fact that flashing the modem has gotten the phone to recognise the simcard and my carrier details, that must mean that there is some solution. Question is, what is the solution? I have gone through more threads than I can count with regards to EFS corruption and such, and I have searched for a solution to the problem but I have not found anything yet. There are no original EFS backups on my phone, and the only equipment I have are my laptop, Odin, and the internet. There aren't any service centres nearby either, which means my phone would need to be sent in for repairs, which can take anything from a week to a month. Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this problem? I can't imagine that I am doomed, considering the progress I have made.
Well, your main problem is this: The IMEI is NOT in the EFS folder, because the nv_data.bin file that used to be located in that folder was moved to a hidden partition on the device at some point during the lifetime of the S4. So even if you backed up the EFS folder you'd still be out of luck. A more comprehensive tool like Wanam's EFS Backup tool would have helped, since it not only does a backup of the EFS folder but the hidden partitions where the modem, its backup, and several other crucial pieces of information are stored, including the IMEI.
That said, there may still be hope for you. Attempt to flash your ROM through Odin, but also use a PIT file for your device, which can be found on the forums. It will recreate your partitions, and in doing so may resurrect your IMEI. However, if that does not work, you will have no choice but to send the device in for service.

T-Mobile Note-4(N910T) EFS Folder empty, when in stock can place calls and use LTE

I have a Note-4 T-Mobile variant(N910T), I have been using Xenon HD and then CM 12.1. After a while when I wanted to go back to stock, and when I flashed stock rom back, the phone was really laggy at first and during setup, there was a popup which said that Factory mode is enabled and I have to switch back to User mode before using it and after a few seconds it disappeared, this happens every time i reboot while in Stock Rom. Somehow after a few minutes, I get the WiFi on again but the keyboard gets stuck after a few presses and phone gets real laggy. After the setup I googled the problem and found out something regarding the EFS Folder, so I rooted it once again and installed ES File explorer and went into EFS and found that it was empty. I tried placing a phone call and it went through and I was also able to use LTE, but when I went to about phone to see IMEI, i saw that the IMEI was also correct, I even tried to setup fingerprints, but it kept saying me to reboot as something was wrong with the fingerprint sensor. Now the weird thing here is that when I am in a Non-touchwiz based Custom Rom, I do not find any lag or any of the problems mentioned above. I have tried these things already:
Going to EFS and switching Factory mode on, but as i told EFS folder is empty.
Backing up EFS from the custom and restoring when I'm in Stock(EFS is empty even in Custom too).
If anyone knows how to fix this, could you please help me?
Thanks!
Hi Sir,

No Service after Battery replacement - EFS corrupt?

Hey guys,
I'am struggeling for some days with my axon7. Here is what happend:
1) I send my device for a battery replacement with open bootloader because the garanty is over and i paid it by my own - for this i made a factroy reset and cleand up all private data
2) I got back my device and played back my backup (maybe incl. efs partion backup) - the device worked fine
3) some days after that I noticed that I get no signal anymore(!) - a reboot does'nt solve the problem so I made a restore again and I restored system, data, boot , twrp, modem (Axon7G for linage 14.1 and 15.1) and later efs because I read some threads in which this was a solution for this problem -> all of this does'nt help
4) I tryed to reset all network settings and played around with the apn settings and followed some instructions in the "*#*#4636#*#*-Menu
5) I tryed to flash linage 15.1 with the right modem and bootloader -> nothing
6) I tryed to go back to stock with this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68873485&postcount=3 but everytime I install the stock system it's stop working at the last 5% and northing happens. When I turn the device of and restart in twrp the log says "unable to mount system" and the system partion is corruped so that I have to format it to fat (for example) and then format it back to eft4(?) I checked for ticked "mount system" and unticked "read only" in the mount-menu.
Now I found this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089039 and I'am not sure if this could be a solution. I also checked my IMEIs and they are both correct (I compared them with my orginal box) I also have and old efs backup form the time before I chaned to linage. My baseband is lokking like " 2.0.c1.9-00095-M8996FAAAANAZM-1" form this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/build-baseband-kernel-patch-level-t3553639)
I compared the size of the efs when I do a backup now with the size form the old backup (1,5 years +) and they have the same size.
I noticed that I hang in a loading screan when I try to read out contacs from my sim card.
The sim card is working. Other sim cards also dont work in my device. When I tap on "mobile telephone operators" i sim-card settings it says "registered". when i do a manual search then its unable to register in a network. Bluetooth and wlan are working. The device is notices the sim card. I have to insert the pin and it's reading my provider.
Is there anybody who can help me?
Its an axon7G with linage 14.1
Yeah I'm having the same problem too. Not sure, I just replaced my battery but now I get no service. WIFI and bluetooth still work but the phone cannot recognize any network provider. The SIM and my number are detected but nothing about my mobile data.

You two ever thought that it could be hardware? Maybe the antenna cable got disconnected?

I triple checked everything and the antenna cable was plugged in. I also tried a spare antenna cable and it still didn't work. Might have been something wrong with the mother or daughter board
Yes. I send it back to the store ans they changed the board for free. So it was a hardware failure i think.

I messed up my wifi

I flashed a new rom and now the phone connects to my home wifi but fails to get an ip address.
I have tried other roms that worked in the past but no dice, the error reproduces every single time
I wiped data, formatted it, made a factory reset, flashed roms following the instructions but i havent been able to fix it.
Anyone can give me a hand with this?
Does the phone know its WiFi MAC address
If custom ROM affected your Persist, phone lost its MAC address and cannot connect to WiFi - you should restore your original Persist
But then you probably also lost certificate for DRM L1 (and AFAIK that cannot be restored)
Price for playing with some custom ROMs
Check about Persist in other threads here under Q/A and Guides, things were discussed couple of times (I dunno more, my Persist is still ok)
Thanks a bunch, mate. It shows wifi and Bluetooth mac address, so it looks like that is ok, unless im checking in the wrong place.
