It seems that a simple file edit can enable 5ghz wifi, but can it support 802.11ac wifi as well? I need to know since we're planning to upgrade wifi routers sometime soon. Thanks.

Anyone else have problems with their GS4 auto connecting to 5GHz wireless network? Mine has no problem automatically connecting to 2.4GHz network, but will only connect to 5GHz manually (need to go into wifi settings settings and connect that way)

It's your routers firmware. I have a RT-N66U running Asuswrt-Merlin and it has the same issue with 5GHz.
ASUS developers are working on it.
In case it's useful, I have a Netgear WNDR3700 running DD-WRT and have no issues with the 5GHz band.
Sweet, thanks for the info guys
Any updates on this problem? I'm having the same issue. Thx.

The Open Euro doesn't support 5GHz WiFi.
I will be happy to get your feedback which firmware is the best including support for 5Ghz WiFi?

Thanks for the tip, unfortinatly it didn't solve the issue, but I think the LG G2 in general lucking the support for 5Ghz WiFi networks
From a system dump, it looks like Bluetooth and WiFi are via the very popular for 2014 Broadcom BCM4354.

Key Features
The Broadcom BCM4354 is a dual-band combo chip for smartphones and tablets that supports 5G Wi-Fi 2x2 MIMO, Bluetooth (BT) 4.1/BLE, Rezence wireless charging support and FM radio receiver.

I doubt the FM antenna pin will be connected to the wired headset jack like the Nexus One (HTC Desire). But as my sig implies, I'd be very happy if so.
I was going to post actually, because at home I have both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz SSIDs and the Nexus9 will not see the 5Ghz SSID.
Has anyone connected to a WiFi network on 5GHz with the Nexus 9 ?
It works on mine at 5GHz but I think it has to do with the limitation of the channels that the Nexus 9 will detect and connect to. Try using the lower channels like 36/44/48

So, once I changed the channel, everything was dandy !
However, one more question on Wi-Fi. Connect to a WiFi network that requires Sign-In doesn't appear to work on the Nexus 9. My Nexus 5 beside it, once I click on the notification, takes me to the web page to sign in.
The Nexus 9, takes me to a white screen with a Blue Header entitled 'Sign-in to network' and then does nothing
If I fire up Chrome manually, it takes me to the Sign-In page.

Most my devices experience issues when using 2,4Ghz wifi and bluetooth at the same time. So when i use wifi it is set to 5ghz and work just fine.

In my opinion 5ghz routers are cheap enough to do some update
This maybe some config issue but i am not networking expert.
For example In lg g6 case using 2,4 means that wifi reaches only 50mb/s but on 5ghz its 100mb/s because config is not set correctly.

Thanx for your query. But mine is only Aptx not Aptx-HD.
And also i am not sure it's authentication.
Coz i connect it with my brother htc 10 oreo, and it's using SBC codec!
You might be able to change the channel on your router and find one that doesn't interfere with bluetooth as much. If you google "bluetooth wifi interference" you should find some things to try.

Like make the phone as a WiFi repeater, back with Pocophone I could use the phone's WiFi share it via hotspot, now if I'm on 9t if I turn on hotstpot it disables WiFi and start using LTE, is there any way to turn on hotspot but still using WiFi and share that WiFi using hotspot
I don't know if I'm explaining myself ???
