Oneplus are testing Pie builds that may be ready for Beta status:
"I tried the latest Pie (testing) build for 3/3T this afternoon and it looks good! I think we are pretty close to the good news now. However, each official update needs to meet our release standards, which requires more time. maybe we can share a beta build first?"

Update 09/01/19

Original Announcement
Oneplus have announced that they will be skipping 8.1 for these devices, but will be bringing Android P instead:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/android-p-is-coming-to-the-oneplus-3-and-3t.879545/
"Hi everyone,
Including our camera improvements and the latest Android security patch, the OxygenOS 5.0.4 update for OnePlus 3 and 3T was released worldwide last week. Since it was launched, we've been listening to questions asking about our next major update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. After internal discussions and evaluation, we have decided to focus our development resources on the Android P project instead of upgrading the device to Android 8.1, so that we can offer more exciting features and improvements for our OnePlus 3 and 3T users.
Over the past few months, we have been working closely with Google on the Android P Beta program. Thanks to everyone’s participation and continued feedback, the progress we have made together has been greatly accelerated. The Android P update will be available on the OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5/T and OnePlus 3/3T, in this order. We will keep you all updated in the coming months.
Cheers,
Gary"

nice move by oneplus
Omg. This is the best news i have heard in a while!
Please keep all news/discussion related to OxygenOS 6.0 in this thread only. Any new thread opened regarding ETA/etc will be closed.
P.S. - looks like I won't upgrade any time soon
It's a really nice gesture from Oneplus and i applaud them for it. There's plenty of life left in these devices still!
I hope that with P they will implement Camera2 API correctly, so no more scrolling and hanging.
Great news! I only hope they will keep their promises. And i hope too that they bring eas to the op3/t since they are working with google

OnePlus 2 and the Nougat upgrade. They made forum posts and announced it on their Twitter that they will be upgrading the 2 to N, but they let it be and slowly forgot about it.
The good old 2 is still on MM Blobs. So yeah, OnePlus did not update it and keep to their promise, but it was a failed device so we need to take that into consideration too.
If they do keep their promise... That's 4 version of Android that the OnePlus 3/t went through that's above and beyond in the android world... If they use treble for our devices it shows that treble could allow us to have longer support... I'm glad I went back to OnePlus after OnePlus one I went to nexus due to the bad feedback from OnePlus 2 but eventually decided to buy the OnePlus 3 with my gut feeling. A good move I guess by me

We can only hope. I doubt it, but considering they are upgrading it to Android P (Already something they said they wouldn't do) its not out of the question
actually OP3/3T doesn't need any effort about Android update from oneplus
just give full " project treble "compatibility with the existing stable build that's it we can do the rest

Actually no. Having P Blobs for Custom ROMs would be great because Developers can build their ROMs over much more recent and up to date Blobs rather than using Oreo Blobs. Therefore, getting P is quite a milestone, even for Custom ROM users.

Failed device or not, they had to update it as they said or at least lower the price of the op3 for the ppl that bought that failed device.
Everyone expected from a brand like one plus to get at least 2 major android updates like every other brand does.
I think its a lie.

That was my first thought too. The whole Android 'P' development cycle should be in better shape because of this.
There is article on XDA why OP 3/3T cannot have project Treble ( I am too lazy to search it ), you may search yourself.
If we really will get Android P, that's awesome too. finger crossed.

A leaked firmware/test firmware in november+ a semi-stable version in december ( my guess is russian or ploand), a good build next year - february.

I think it will be soon, the latest 511 already has some doze functionality backported, maybe next month? Anyway since this is one of the most important new features I don't care much, as long as it is stable and bug free

I hope they wait a bit after reading all the issues the new permission Model in M still has. This is more a consumer device than a Nexus so they should take their time and wait until it's also ready for the "average" user. Hopefully they don't rush the update like they did last year with the S5 and Android L (with all the bugs it had).

This for example. It seems like there can go much wrong if an app is written against the newest api but the developer "forgot" to ask for a permission in the right situation. If even Google makes that mistake with their G+ app this will happen to many other devs too.
So far I hoped that Android M will automatically ask for a permission when it's needed - even when the developer didn't create a customized request. But it looks like it doesn't which looks like a big fail to me.
And this is another thing which sounds also like a big mess. App settings spread across the system ... this will be a nightmare for the average user. Hopefully Google will fix that soon or OEMs like Samsung will take their time to change it and don't implement it the same way Google did.
http://mobilesyrup.com/2015/10/09/samsung-is-testing-marshmallow-on-several-flagship-smartphones/
I feel Google should have stayed on Lollipop for this year as well instead of announcing a new version.
There are still a lot of bugs and polishing that could have been fixed and done in let's say in 5.2 but no, they had to take out a new version when Lollipop still isn't present on the majority of devices.

it doesn't matter how they call it, it's just a new release. Bugs will be squashed, features will be added.

This is Lollipop, just renamed to Marshmallow. It's mostly fixes, better battery usage and optimizations. The only really new features are hidden like Doze, superficial like Google Now Tap, and security fixes for Google Pay.

I think that article was a bit on the tabloid level, because while it's true Google flubbed the G+ permissions, Marshmallow asks for them. I checked, all permissions were off, and in G+ I wanted to take a pic and post it, and it automatically asked for both Camera permission and storage permission. I've granted both, and after both were set in the Apps/G+/Permissions.
As for the other problem, I don't get it, how it is a problem, but it really can be for some.

yes, the S5 had the 5.0 update early, even my old S4 had it, maybe 5.0 was released quickly......but i have to say 5.0 for the S4 and S5 was rubbish....so buggy and laggy
Android marshmallow update is going to be the life saviour for most of us, who ain't using cm 13, nor 12 ...... Well i am using echoe rom
But the main thing is that lollipop was not good and ruined the experience for most of us but now we will have marshmallow out and after a long wait we will get it in our hands within a month or so
Well there is a leak for marshmalow 6.0.1 running in zenfone 2 laser and soon zenfone 2 will also get it as it is their flagship. Hopefully the leak is true, and it looks like it's one of their employees who has leaked it.(he has the rog laptop ??)

ZE550/551 still waiting for M. I think they will skip Feb security update and give us M with March/April update.

LOL Wanna bet?
Glad to know that ASUS is really working on providing Android 6.0.1 , but shouldn't Asus's first priority be the Intel variants (Ze551ml/Ze550ml) than the Snapdragon ones?
Yeah I look forward to the big M but if it doesnt come I'm just fine with L. Asus has been really good with their updates, not just firmwares but also updating our apps.
Echoe rom by far was the best stock based rom , so yeah even i can wait a month or couple for a good marshmallow build , hope it is gelatin free

The updates are cosmetic bull...., there has not been a significant update in more than 6 months, and I stand by my statement the ZenFone will never get the M update till at least a year after N is released, the last 4 updates errr ridiculous in scope and added nothing to generational effectiveness of the phone. I was entirely ready to go 100% ASUS, but my experience with the support on this phone has guaranteed ASUS will never realize another from me for any equipment, I am likely to switch all my future phone purchases to LG or just go straight Nexus from this point forward. Just my humble opinion.

I do not want any gimmicks all i want is aome smart and innovative stuff , like taking screenshot on pressing recent key is innovative af (i think even cm does not has that option in long press, i used only cm12 in s3 , so i have not used it much)
I love asus for what they are doing and i do not care for upgrades if some one has made a stock based awesome rom(echoe rom)
Asus is love, intel is what i do not love(for gpu, development, no image enhancement and no battery effeciency)(820 is best this year)

You should understand it's not easy to make roms and being new to it , it takes times to adjust , they are giving their best to give us the best MM update and with ironed out bugs too , hopefully it will happen , but i doubt intel for its efficiency and without using good kernels its far to get good battery and awesome performance together (you have to loose one generally but not in good kernels)
Its not about mastering 5.1 also , its about developing good base for future updates and with poor planing and development it will be hard , they should divide their team and do kick-ass development.
Do not be a jerk , by *****ing them for their only flaw, slow updates.
Intel is good except for weak gpu , lack of elements like enhanced imaging , battery or even sound quality ,these all are found in QC and MTK but often priced higher than intel

From kitkat to lollipop, yes what most people know it was only cosmetic. Not for me tough. But from 32 to 64 bit? Not really. Itll optimize zenfone 2 and might unlock the power within it. I cant say much about asus wouldnt release android M, well.. the beta is out on march. Lookin at the history, when asus releases beta, itll be followed with the actual thing. Its just a matter of time really. Asus isnt the fastest in rolling update, but it is a definite that update will come. You are the fast - update kinda person i suppose. Well if its what u want, you are right. You better stick with nexus.

x86 architechture is just a little worse with Android. If devs can figure out something for x86 and make a badass kernel then what's better than that? Or if all the applications and Android itself could be complile for both arm and x86 then x86 doesn't require arm code translator(libhoudini) which lacks performance.

did they end up pushing marshmallow or is it still June? Not sure if I should get this phone, or a LG G Stylo or Escape

Marshmallow will start rolling out around the end of May/beginning of June.
But it's your choice. If you are considering the 5.5" variant, then it's the best out of the three.
Same if you are considering the 4.7" variant. It is still better than the G Stylo and Escape.

Idols are pretty solid phones for the price, it's gonna be kinda hard to beat them. Don't let the android version stop you, marshmallow or not they are great.
I personally have had really bad experiences with cheap lg phones, you'd be lucky if you get what you pay for.
If you do go for an lg other then a g3/4 I'd really suggest looking up multiple reviews first.

I've been getting this on my 6045I ever since I got it 2 weeks ago. Is Android M marshmallow? And does anyone recamend updating to "5.0.2-010 01" if I want root? Is it buggy?

I have the LG Stylo from T-Mobile, and the idol international version on cricket, but using AT&T Apn with great success. In my opinion, the Stylo is a much more solid device, with removable battery, incredible memory management, and already has marshmallow. The idol can't be beat for music though, and hopefully marshmallow will fix high all the time memory usage. Just don't get the cricket version of either of these, as the hardware and software are lesser. I happily use both, and have Google voice for handling the number integration. Have the idol on cricket's inexpensive plan, and it comes in handy when I travel to have AT&T service [emoji51]

I have had this phone through Cricket since Nov. 2015, and i loved it until the patch came through. I have now had to have it replaced twice because it will turn off on its own, when i try and use Google play music it locks the phone screen immediately. I think all of the bugs are A) due to Crickets bloat wear or B) due to the bugginess of 5.0.2. Has anyone else experience any flaws and glitches? I LOVED this phone up until this point and now i want to throw it at a wall, or move back to the ZTE Max Plus (2) since it just dropped.
Going through Social media, forums, I always comes across different set of people/users/readers. Many of them simply ask for updates and wait but many, on the other side, shouts and show their anger on social media and forums and blame the device manufacturer and their developers for not providing the marshmallow(or rather updates) on time or as promised. Same is the case with HONOR users, sometimes. We are still far ahead of others because we have the beta versions or stable version for some devices and we can expect that we will get the stable Marshmallow for all devices soon and Android Nougat soon.

How many phones are actually running on Marshmallow Or rather any android version? Well, you are at the right place to look for this information. Read on.
With endless resources and number of employees at its disposal, itâ??s hard to believe that Google is still struggling to get a majority of Android users on to a single platform version. And yet, ten months after the launch of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, only about 20% of Android devices have been updated (includes unofficial custom and stock versions)
Numbers are out for the month of September 1st week and Marshmallow has finally reached near the 20% figure with 18.7% market share compared to other Android versions. By the end of year 2015, Kitkat was the clear winner with the largest share even though there were two versions of Lollipop i.e. 5.0 and 5.1 but still Kitkat was leading with 37.80% of the market share compared with combined 35.60% of Lollipop (15.5% for version 5 and 10.10% for version 5.1).
View attachment 3876272
But the market is changed now with lot of new devices launching every now and then with Lollipop, then the latest version, thus making the lollipop to the top of this list with 35% compared to 27.6% of kitkat and few with marshmallow out of the box. With so many devices around, not all users have still tasted the Lollipop, forget about the Marshmallow and the latest Nougat. Marshmallow share was around 7.5% as of May 2016 which has risen up to 10.1% in June 2016 (yeah, into the double digit mark for the 1st time since launch). Marshmallow was unveiled in May 2015, almost a year back, at Google I/O under the codename "Android Mâ?, it was officially released in October 2015 and was able to surpass the Froyo (android 2.2) market share during December 2015, Froyo had the market share of only .20% in December 2015. (Marshmallow surpassing Froyo? Yeah you read it right, not sure how many of you even know about this android 2.2 version by name).
So Marshmallow has touched the double figure mark, in May, for the market share but Google has made next to no progress on its fragmentation problem, making this entire situation even more awful is the fact that Google has just announced the next version of Android at its annual Google I/O developerâ??s conference on May 18th and unveiled the latest Android 7 with name Nougat on June 30th, 2016. Unless Google has a plan to deal with fragmentation once and for all, the issue is only going to get worse hereafter.

Can we trust the news that androidcentral website published which mentioned mi a1 will get Android 10?
That reminds me about latest May update.
70Mb of a mere security patch with no actual bug fixes from Xiaomi. Guided by that, and the same kind of question when P appeared... Well it was more like a miracle and a compromise of Xiaomi to reach their goal, no matter how.
Just read around to see how unsatisfied are many users about jumping to P without giving according support for rising new bugs.
just flash a custom 9.0 and you will be happy.

Dude, at least they give monthly security patches and this is an old budget device, I am happy with whatever support we've been given by Xiaomi and would be really grateful if they released Android Q, no matter the bugs... (the sources help, and reduce developer burden)

You shouldn't just be "happy", as it is mandatory to release monthly security updates for Android one devices. About android Q, I personally think they won't release it as Xiaomi has already f***ed up my Mi A1 with bootloops and wifi problems. If they're going to release Q, then all the bugs on pie must be fixed before that.

Well, that really sounds too good to be true.
If I read the original ad for A1, Xiaomi isn't obligated to do that so I wouldn't hold my breath...
...that sounds ok... for Mi A2...
I'd try to chat again and confirm if that update is actually planned for Mi A1 (tissot).

Even if it were to come (which it wont), there is no way it would be with us by November, Xiaomi aren't exactly renowned for speedy updates, why would they rush out an unnecessary update and they don't even have a beta group now.
