Mobile data fluctuations - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

So I got my max pro m1(32 GB) today. Everything is working well. Updated to latest firmware but there is a problem of data connection fluctuations. It's fluctuating regularly and hence I'm getting a slow downloading speed and random disconnections in online games. Any fix for this? Btw I'm using Airtel 4g. Any help will be appreciated.

My internet also fluctuates a lot. I also can't play games.

You have to Root your phone and install network signal guru app from play store and lock your lte band which gives you best speed.

Yes I have solved poor network performance by this method and only for this reason I unlocked the bootloader and root my phone though I thought, not do any rooting for at least one year.

You are Wrong.
If u lock into Single LTE band the network won't change back and forth between bands(which is the real issue of zmxprom1).
NetWork Signal Guru App is the Saviour for ZMXPro1 owners*.

I'd try latest from a UK tw rom first. Have you had issues. BTW I'm using lte now.. Works fine. High battery drain on gpe when no signal though. Unsure if modem related.

It's phone related. Has been like that since day one for Android. Priority #1 is to restore signal and connect to carrier if lost.
Didn't notice it so bad with tw. However since this is work I can't change signal, but I do use tasker now to switch off cell whilst connected to WiFi in the office. I use three in touch which delivers calls and texts in /out over WiFi so no functionality lost
Also having issues flashing the newer modem with mobile Odin pro 4.20 and no access to laptop either any help would be very welcome

What the crap 5.1 in Verizon N6?

http://phandroid.com/2015/02/26/exclusive-verizon-nexus-6-march-12-android-5-1-volte-support/
Does voLTE require a hardware upgrade or is this potentially a feature that all n6s can enjoy?
-----------------------<SiG>-------------------
My house phone is better than your iPhone.
T-mobile is actually testing VoLTE on N6. I think it will be in the OS. Time will tell.
Band 12 volte and WiFi calling I hope but I'm more interested in performance and battery improvements

While that may or may not be accurate they at least have some good news. I won a Nexus 9 from them during the 20 days of giveaways in December so they aren't all bad.
As far as 5.1 goes if its out on VZW then it will be out on all Nexus 6's as far as I'm concerned. Whether or not google posts the ROM devs can likely extract the files and incorporate them into a ROM. Let's see what happens because I would like to use B12 and WiFi calling on T-Mobile. I know T-Mobile has to enable some things in their end for it to work but at least we would have the software here ready and waiting.
With all the issues the N6 has on Sprint I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon wants that fixed before releasing on their network. Maybe the texting and call issues are CDMA related rather than Sprint specific?
I've had my N6 on Verizon for months, and everything works perfectly.

Same, with the exception of the network extender. On the extender, no 3G data and the signal indicator goes wonky. It also tries very hard to connect to an outside tower rather than the extender...
Hope they fix the data icon and connections taking long to actually connect
Have Verizon actually got a n6 with 5.1 or is it just hearsay.

Some discussion at the thread above.
Edit: hit return too quick.
I don't recall seeing anything official from Verizon or Google that it will be 5.1. I think that's what everyone is guessing based on the features posted by Verizon for the phone, T-Mobile comments and that 5.1 has been spotted somewhere in the world on some handsets. I'm looking forward to it as I have a lot of problems with WiFi and Bluetooth which I hope this will clear up. Also, if rumors are true and we get wifi calling, band 12 (t-mobile customer) and VoLTE, all the better.

When you flash the newest version of the Enabler it will also flas the latest hybrid modem. THe you go to your dialer and tap in the following *#*#4636#*#* and a screen will pop up and select phone information . You will then be presented with a screen that will list all the phone info.. move down to where it says select prefered network type. Press on it and it will offer you a selection of options.
I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes

This enables LTE on the phone. It has the physical capability to operate on LTE, however, the phone never got FCC approval for it, so LG left LTE off by default, with HSPA being the fastest spectrum it is capable off without modifying the modem and files. Flashing this package will modify your modem an build.prop to allow it to operate on the LTE Band 4 spectrum, which is what is used in the US. If you are outside the US, you will only see any benefit if Band 4 is used in your area.
Cliff Notes is that it makes your mobile data a whole lot faster.

So. The reason I hadn't done this yet is because my phone was broken. Now that it's fixed, I'm back with it. So what are the steps in getting this done?

How to flash COD modem

You can dowload the COD modem
On Mocsab’s thread found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...10tuvu1cod6-modem-stock-kernel-stock-t3094994
and flash it through odin
Here are some instructions:
Preface:
For what we are doing here you just want the modem.bin file.
1. Download the COD modem.bin file.
2. Open up odin and uncheck auto reboot.
3. Click on phone, select the modem.bin file, and press start.
4. When you finish the flash. Pull the battery and put it back in and power up.
PS.
I used odin 3.0.4, but this probably works with all versions of odin.
Might not be as important as before, but it was for my current setup.
I'm on Infamous BOC rom and 3.6 Bioshock kernel, but was still running ank modem.
Now I've got COD modem.

Firekat can make your phone shoot rainbows as well. Little too soon to say don't you think?
You don't have to use the new modem if you don't want to.

Hehehehe! I know... Just a little joke Using it myself(new baseband). So far nothing different but as I mentioned in the other modem thread it might be better, worse, or not even noticeable. We shall see if there are any improvements or disadvantages over time. Just a little too soon to tell especially after just one phone call. I did a few tests myself with all radio related usages and everything works well like on MK7. I live and work near cell towers so I haven't seen anything noticeable yet. One thing good I can say for sure(past experiences since Windows Mobile 5) is sometimes call handoffs are improved with newer versions and sometimes the signal is faster to relay on the handset ui giving a more accurate signal display. Those are all things to look for. Now all we need is xposed running

I seem to be getting better signal and faster Lte. At work I used to get anywhere from 6-10mbps up/down, now am getting close to 20mbps up/down. Just updated to poprocks v1, was on firelated v11x before. Could be the modem update or maybe tmo upgraded their towers here??

Could check and see if wideband was added in your area recently. There are a few links around for checking what band is available in your area. Service mode and phone info app can do those. Sounds like a happy coincidence! I doubt a modem updates gonna double your speeds lol! Enjoy your tower upgrades. I've seen a few new towers around my town pull 60Mbps down but average for me is 30-40. Depends how far away you are as well. Maybe they added a repeater or new tower close by your work?
so when I put in the bin and hit start. Nothing happens? Anyone know why?

Signal issues

For whatever reason I have signal problems when running ViperOne. Everything is fine except for that. After some testing it seems it kills my upload after a little while, and I have to toggle Airplane mode to restore connection (download seems to be unaffected). When on stock or bad boyz signal is rock solid. I guess my question is if I flash Viper and then flash the stock radio would that fix it? I'm guessing it has something to do with Viper being based on the international ROM but I have no idea. It's been an issue on every single version.
I've had a similar issue where if I'm on LTE Band 41, I lose up and down data. If it falls back on Bands 25 and 26, it's fine. If I'm on stock or the Bad Boyz ROM, then I don't encounter the issue. However, if I flash Viper10 or LeeDrOiD, I lose access to Band 41. Unfortunately, I haven't chased the issue since I've had little time to research and pick the ROM makers' brains. For now, I'm using the Bad Boyz ROM since Band 41 works...

No, I tried once more and gave up. Not sure what you mean about Bad Boyz, it's been available since the beginning and is based on the Sprint base. I've been using it since and it's been nothing but rock solid. It's available in the Roms section of the forum...

Yes, since switching to BB I have zero data issues. I'm in both city and suburban areas daily, with varying signal strength. He just updated the rom to 2.6 and I've been running it with no problems for about 3 days after doing a fresh install from an RUU

Viper has more features overall, but BB has the essentials like hotspot, flashlight shortcut, etc. Only thing I really miss is long press home to turn off screen. Give it a shot.
