I want to buy a new head unit and I've narrowed it down to 3 choices:
Atoto A6Y2721PRB-G (2GB/32GB);
MTK 8127A Soc-based Quad-core 1.5Ghz CPU with ARM Mali-450 MP4 GPU
IPS screen
Joying JY-UO135P4
Android 8.0 PX5 Octa Core operate system,4GB/32GB
TFT screen
Xtrons TE706PL
Android 8.0 Octa Core 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM
TFT screen
As far as I can tell, all 3 are good choices. My big concern is viewing angles. The atoto has an IPS screen. How is the screen quality and viewing angles on joying and xtrons units? I'll be putting this in a 2012 F250 so it'll be angled slightly upwards.
Joying also has an IPS screen. I think it is actually pretty good.

ALL models. Already for more than 1½ year (because that's when I got my first Joying).
And how do you know it is TFT?
I checked their website and only for a few models it is mentioned that it is IPS.
On their previous site they mentioned it for all models in the specs. But these specs are not there anymore either for a lot of models.
Edit: I don't know for the 800x480 models though, but the 1024x600 screens are IPS screens.
https://www.joyingauto.com/us-wareh...-screen-car-bluetooth-head-unit-4gb-32gb.html
Doesn't say IPS, TFT, tn, etc. But if it is IPS, that's the one I want. I guess it's worth contacting them on it.
Emailed Joying. Response was that most units are TFT-lcd, unless specified as IPS.

All I want to do is step up to the new processors out there and can't seem to find a place to pick up a rock chip made for the lower board in out KLD units. Hello All,
Since I couldn't find any new post regarding the question I'm asking, what's the best Chinese Android head unit available now?
My criteria:
- no hissing noise
- good sound
- 2 GB of memory
- full Android 5.1 or 6.0
- good gps (hardware wise)
- good FM/AM reception.
Thanks

If you go back and scan the threads of the last few weeks or month, there is a lot of good info about this topic.
I just installed the Eonon with 5.1 Android OS in my 2002 3 series BMW. I do not have experience with these devices, so I can only comment on this one.
I really like the fit. The speed- even with a quad core 1.6Ghz CPU is not as quick as we'd like. Think Android phones from 3-4 yrs ago. Not bad, but not as speedy as a Google Pixel for example. The big change I could see is if the screen were bright enough to outshine the glare from the sun. I have ordered ant glare screen protectors. We'll see how that works out.
I have a Henharo 4.2.2 based unit. A7 processor. I have to say that unit is terrible. The screen is not bright enough, the sound quality is bad. The well known hissing noise is really annoying. GPS dies sometimes, Also there is no support from the vendor. I'm looking for a replacement. I'm not an audiophile but I like good sound. Ownice C500 looks promising, however I'm not sure about the sound chip with comes with the unit. That's TB2929. The only thing I know is that the chip is made by Toshiba
I have a MTCD made by KGL, all I can say: keep away! MTCD seems like a terrible platform, the quality by KGL is just terrible and their service non-existent.
Have to agree C500 looks very promising. Especially now that people have succeeded in rooting the device, this hopefully provides room for user mods to polish out some of the flaws.
Anyone knows how good Ownice support is.?
I just don't want to ended up with another unit without the vendor support...
You might want to look at the Joying 2GB / Sofia based units. I have had one about 2 months and real happy with it. It seems well made, fairly fast, relatively bug free. Support seems pretty good with frequent software updates, and to reply to emails.
What about the sound quality and that famous hissing sound?
There is one interesting unit I have found on their website: JY-UL135N2
. Newest RAM 2GB Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Auto Radio for Universal Vehicles
. 7-Inch Double 2 Din Digital Capacitive Touchscreen
. CPU: Intel SoFIA 3GR , 4 Cores
. RAM: DDR3 2GB, Flash: EMMC 32GB
. Resolution: 1024x600 display, support 1080P videos
. With the new developed android 5.1 system
. Support PIP, DVR, OBD2, DAB+, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, RDS, etc.
Just the thing which bothers me is the sound quality. The unit I bought has way worse sound than the stock radio.
That Joying unit's sound processor is TDA7388 - is it any good?

It sounds good to me, much better than the stock unit that was replaced. No noticeable hissing or any issues. Only downside is no controls for the sub on the equalizer.
oh that's a problem for me. I have an infinity sound system in my car. That Android unit I got installed was just terrible. I pulled it out yesterday and sent back to the seller. I'm kinda picky in terms of the sound quality. (not an audiophile though)
Are there any mosfet based units available?
and also any word on Newsmy NR3001 unit?
@slav.z What did you end up getting?
JY-UL135N2. All works . I didn't update to 6.1 though. Not a fan of untested firmware.
Your Joying JY-UL135N2, will it support third party usb camera, and can you use third party usb camera apps with it like Carr O.
I will NEVER buy another as the SH*TS crippled Android to only work with their usb camera, and locked out other apps from using their camera.
Can you confirm open usb camera?
Hi, there, you must visit this link the site suggest 10 of the best android auto head unit, just read the full article and you will find what are you looking for
I had ok luck with Joying, sound was better than my stock unit, my only real complaint is slow boot and app launch time. 2-3 mins from power on til Spotify plays, or GMaps track my location.
UP
s190 are great imo
Startup is 25 seconds, or it can be put into Auto Sleep with instant On which says only uses 9mA

Hi,
How to install Chinese car stereo software
I'm waiting for an Audiophile grade unit. Is there a unit out that has the following:
Hi-Res DAC (Hopefully at least 32-bit/192kHz)
Optical out
Volume Knob (not a deal breaker)
3gb of ram or more
speedy processor
Nice screen size at least 7"
Nice 31 band EQ or 15 bands for left and right
And if these are not available, are any of the manufacturers on this board that can push for this type of product? I truly believe if there was such a unit, that they would kill the market in one year.

First, there are no such units available.
Second, I think you overestimate the market for something like that. The "audiophile" is a very VERY fringe market.
What is needed, is generally better quality hardware. Something with mainstream parts, like a high end qualcomm SoC, and supported by some outfit that is actually *COMPETENT*.
The better overall quality hardware would naturally have better quality audio come along for the ride, and this would definitely be enough.

What would be the 'best' constructed head unit right now?
I was looking for an Android head unit, and my car dealer wanted to sell me a Parrot Asteroid Smart (with an amazing Android 2.3 and 512MB memory...).
I did multiple searches and got to no conclusion. Probably the best quality 'chinese' head units right now are joying and Xtrons, but even they are not specially good at audio quality.
I read there was a posibility to 'hardware-hack' some PX3 units (but I wanted PX5...)
Any recommendations?
I have recently just removed my android head unit from my car and reinstalled the standard head unit.
The audio out of the android unit is horiffic to say the least. The standard headunit knocks the socks off of the
android unit plus they have the cheek to advertize it as HIFI quality sound.

Dynavin units are the closest from what I've heard with Burr-Brown DACs. But the actual Android side of things is a bit dated

The hardware hack on the PX3's you are referring to... is that the one where they disconnect the BD37xxx from the MCU and connect it to the SoC? If so, point your sights at an INTEL JOYING, because the BD37033 *IS* connected to the SoC, and is directly controllable.
It seems like all the head units with PX6 or PX CPU only are available with 600p displays? At least from the known manufacturers.
The only Android head unit I have found with 1280 x 720 display is the Joying with Intel CPU. But it has gotten bad reviews and is lacking community support. So I would prefer a PX6 head unit. Do they exist, and do you have any recommendation? Thanks!
My Erisin 8715V got 1280x720 with PX5..

Px5 or px6 is a processor not a make or model of Chinese Android head unit.
There are multiple manufacturers of head units with these processors, and are not created equally. which ones have been considered.
@marchnz
do you have suggestion which brand is ok and which brand should be kept away from ?
in regards to de px6 and 720 resolution ?

I have been contemplating these but had some bad experiences with sound quality on px5 head units that ran less than 300$... but on paper these look beast. Was hoping to find more information but think I'm just going to pull the trigger and buy and test it out. Going in my new to me sequoia which will need to be modified since the screen won't stick out enough on the radio hole of the first gen sequoia.
have also been emailing them on the difference of the specs. but they won't commit that with snapdragon chip its a much faster and stable performance.
also that with the snapdragon chip unit, the user interface is also different from other standard joying head unit. its same as the TEYES CC3 head unit. have also asked Joying whether future Joying head unit (less Snapdragon chip) will be in this interface, but they also don't commit nor answer me clearly...haiz...
So since my last post i pulled the trigger on the unit with the snapdragon. I went with the 10.1 screen so far it looks good from my test bench and TMobile sim. I'll be uploading a video once I get it in my car... which I need to drop off at the body shop since i got side swiped in downtown... But hopefully get it in before it goes to the body shop. Can you comment on sound quality.
I recently bought a UIS7862 unit. A week after my purchase, new units with snapdragon appeared on the website.
Should I regret my purchase? - I am mainly interested in whether the sound quality of the new units has improved.

Ok so I was writing this and noticed it went long so I decided to put this in the beginning, I will be doing testing of the RCA output as well as coaxial but not the line out as that will not be my route of installation. I will also be using a DSP so my results can vary from yours. If I were you I would not worry too much about the sound quality difference between joying head units. You would have to go to a time before DSP to hear a good audio difference. I believe they have DSP on all their units now, further more i see that unit also has coax and optical out, you should try and implement one of those with a DSP for best results. With that said most of these units are only pushing about 1.5-2.5 Volts on RCA outputs from what I've seen, so hooking these up directly to amplifier might leave more to be desired in terms of volume and turning gains up will only make it sound worse. Line drivers can fix this but as before it is an additional cost but a cheaper option to a DSP. Also one thing I noticed is my old Android generic radio only has 13 band EQ this one has 27 band EQ that works through all outputs even the digital coaxial and optical so if you are fine tuning with an RTA this might provide better fine tuning options.
Thank you for your response.
I'm currently listening using the built-in amp, and the sound quality in that configuration is what I was asking about. My unit has a 16 band eq, it looks like the new units with snapdragon have a new DSP (more eq bands, 5.1 spdif output) and thus most likely different DACs and accompanying analogue circuitry. So even though the amp ic is the same, these units could potentially sound differently (I am thinking about comparing it with flat eq setings)

Ok I see. I will be momentarily running of the internal amp as I do not have the time to do the whole system before Friday, which is when I plan on dropping the vehicle of at the body shop for repairs. I will be able to give you an honest opinion on the audio capabilities compared to the old unit i had which was a 2017 model px5 from a generic manufacturer. I can't for sure confirm that it would perform better than your unit as I haven't herd your model but can assure you if it does well enough or if it sounds sub par. My old unit couldn't get to 1 volt on RCA's so even boosting it with a line driver sound was horrible. Also might not be the best one to give you feed back on completely stock components as my vehicle has a JBL system i will be bypassing which is 6 channels from factory with 10 speakers so the phasing and ohm resistance might poop the results but I'll be giving it a go non the less
Looking forward to your opinion.
thanks!!
I hope they put out some units with buttons/knobs. I had an airmont until recently that was like that and was very inconvenient.

How was the performance and as well as the stability of the system with the snapdragon so far? i resume was the snapdragon 625 that was posted in the Joying website.
Was having a headache in choosing either the TEYES CC3 and this 10.1" snapdragon 625 chip.
User interface is same for both:
1. TEYES CC3 is a 9" QLED screen but is 1280*720, Ram can be upgraded to 6GB and storage can be upgraded to 128GB.
2. Joying 10.1" screen is a 1280*800 resolution, Ram and storage is fixed to 4GB/64GB respectively.
What is the biggest differences between the UIS7862 and snapdragon 625? Based on every metric I could find, the snapdragon 625 is an older and inferior cpu in every way. Am I missing something? Why is it more expensive?

Ok so I took a drive to my parents today which is about an hour drive one way, and my honest opinion of the internal amp is that it is significantly better than my old unit. It can get loud and keep clarity up to 36 of max 40 volume. Granted I am still running factory speakers it does perform better than my factory JBL factory system, and I did bypass the factory amplifiers which, was a pain since this suv has them in 2 different locations, but i am impressed with the internal power of this head unit.

I'd hope they'd do a 10" or above head unit with a knob I'd upgraded in a jiffy. I'm old school and prefer a knob even over swc.

Yes I went with this model JY-UQD10N4G-GT which has the snapdragon 625 and as of now going into my second day and spending more time with it today I am very pleased and performance is not an issue as of now. With these units the case is usually on the longer term probably after the first few months. I will keep you updated if anything arises. My choice was easy as I was going for better stand alone performance in regards to mobile connectivity and the snapdragon supports majority of my carrier bands. That being said the 6gb 128gb option is very appealing but for me it was not available with the snapdragon as of now.

The difference in performance should not be anything drastic unless you are planning on doing some video rendering or gaming on the head unit I doubt you would run into issues with either. 4gb or ram should be good enough for streaming on multiple apps I used it with i heart radio and tune in radio as well as YouTube music no issues while swapping between apps. The main difference and why I went with the snapdragon was better support of the US cellular bands.

Here are some updated pictures. Don't judge but i MacGyverd the bracket to extend the screen out from the dash radio hole, all it's missing is some insulation foam to keep dust from getting into the radio internals. Also will be uploading some videos taken earlier today.

What's the panel type for these units? I'd hate to spend that much and have bad viewing angles or poor sunlight visibility.
