Amazon Assistant - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello,
Just realized that I now have Amazon Assistant installed (might be after the last update a week or so ago). I can't uninstall it - can only disable sit (which I have done)
Was just searching the web and saw quite a few mentioned of a virus (windows based). Am I the only one with it?
Is there a way to uninstall it without root? Want to keep my phone unrooted so that's not an option.

Yes,you can use ADB to remove unwanted apps. No root required.
As far as I remember amazon assistant appeared with the Oreo update. It was one of the first apps I removed from my rom
Check out this thread for more info.

Yes, I have the same problem. Why would this suddenly appear with Oreo?

T-mobile System Update, from Google Play Services?

I have a rooted T-mobile LG G2 running Android 5.0.2. A couple days ago, (Oct 20 2015?) I got a notification (a box with a down arrow in it) that says T-Mobile has released a system update, for added security. It's about 51MB and I don't see anything online when I search to see what this update is. Because I've removed all bloatware, I was also surprised to see this and wondered what app this update was coming from. I just found out it's "Google Play Services" so it goes away if I prevent notifications.
1. How can I find out what this update is? I don't want to lose root access.
2. The update fails to install anyways. It seems to restart my phone into recovery mode, then just pops up later again. Can it even be installed? If so, how?
3. Can I disable this "updater" from Google Play Services without disabling or uninstalling the entire thing? I need gmail contacts sync...etc.
Thank you in advance for any and all info on this!

OTA Update removes root and repairs deleted files

My device was running Fire OS 5.0 and I installed my copy of Titanium Pro (used APK extractor on another Android device as play not working on 5.0).
I then proceeded to kill as many Amazon processes based on my Remove Bloat thread - I actually deleted them from the device so that they were no longer there. I kept the OTA processes in place - reset the device from [Recovery Mode] and upon boot joined WiFi and proceeded with the upgrade to 5.01
The update by the looks of things repaired the Fire OS and the system processes that I had deleted were now back on the device (Kindle Book Store etc). It also removed root from the device.
So just like everyone says - disabled OTA updates if you do not wish t remove root.
Were you able to reinstall root post update?

Would love to know also
Sent from my Amazon Fire 2015
i reinstalled the firmware to give it real factory reset, and applied OTA twice yesterday, but I could make it rooted after that. So I guess you can reinstall root again because the updated system did not reject root.

Yes I was able to root 5.01 after the OTA update
I would strongly advise everyone to disable the OTA processes. If you want to update a new device from 5.0 to 5.0.1 you can do so manually. Fire (5th Gen) updates are available here https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201830180
Who knows when amazon will roll out the next OTA, tomorrow, next week, next month. And they certainly might block root with it. The fire cost us only $50, amazon may be losing money on the straight device price. They want us to spending money on all the premium amazon services that we are striping out as bloat. They may need the money to even break even.
Huh... This actually gave me some insight into the OTA bit. I went and pulled the latest update and it basically overwrites the system partition. That's why it seems to undo everything you did. This is good though because it also means if it won't boot then I should be able to get into 3e recovery and sideload the most recent update back to the device. I tested this by flashing google play then "repairing" using the update and google play was no longer present from this. It also doesn't seem to wipe userdata when doing this which is nice.

How to disable Moto G5 Plus Update Notification?

Keep getting the update pops up and I dont want to update. Is there a way to disable the update itself?
I tried App Settings > System Apps > Moto Update Services, Force stopped but there isnt Freeze or disable Options like my S8. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I froze it in Titanium Backup. That is if you're rooted of course.
Why don't you just update what's the point in not updating when there is an update.
This is under the developer options. It bugged me too.
I'd have a street party if mine said there was an update, i think it is a myth and no updates actually exist.

What option stops the notification? Disabling automatic system updates will still prompt you occasionally to update if there is an update pending.
Using Titanium Backup, I assume freezing Motorola Update Services should be the only app required, correct?
If I wanted an opinion on whether or not I should perform the update, I would have referred to the "should I perform the update" thread - not the "How to disable the G5 plus update notification".
Seems like a very simple thing to understand, no?
Here is the real answer:
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.ota
Ok, but more clarification please.

Got a new Moto G5 plus (unlocked) with 7.0. Spouse accidentally downloaded update BUT caught the error before installing the update, and did not install. The file is apparently on the phone and now badgers us constantly to install. I want to halt the automatic update process and remove the downloaded update file. I have disabled automatic updates under the 'Developer Options' as you say, but the notice continues, even after reboot. I suspect it is because the update is now resident on the phone and triggers the process, even though it has been switched off under developer options. This phone has not been rooted. I guess the fix will require rooting, but I'm apprehensive about what method is the most current and reliable, specifically for this phone. Any help on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Til then, a billion annoyances.
Same issue here - and the update notification is extremely aggressive. It will interrupt anything I'm doing, including videos/music on YouTube.
I vaguely recall reading somewhere that we need to flash a stock recovery and boot.img temporarily, but I don't know if that's accurate. I'm wondering if I should just wipe it and install Unofficial LineageOS.
For clarity, at least in my case:
Phone is rooted
TWRP Recovery
Custom boot.img
Stock ROM
EDIT: I'm trying NeoGeo's advice and freezing Motorola Update Services using Titanium Backup.

Help! I killed the second screen!

I removed some stock apps using adb, and something broke my second screen. Everything seemed benign, but I jacked up something. Now my phone keeps displaying "Unfortunately, second screen has stopped." Thanks!
Do you have a Nandroid of your install or backups of any of your apps through TiBackup?
Non rooted with no backup
No.
What model do you have?
Just use one of the unbricking methods here on xda to reflash stock rom and you should be fine. Use LG UP to flash the latest kdz.

In had this happen many times tweaking things through adb. Never did figure out what I did to disable the screen. I found a simple factory reset fixed it. Assuming your are not rooted and just forced an uninstall of apps via Adb.
I had this happen (on VS995 i.e. Verizon non-rooted on Oreo) after I used adb to uninstall the 3 weather packages (com.lge.sizechangable.weather, platform & theme.optimus) since I don't use the weather widget. Reinstalling from the original apk files fixed the problem; they were listed as Weather, Weather Service (this one fixed it) and Weather Theme. So my guess is one of the packages you uninstalled. I tried disabling them first but couldn't, thus the uninstall. Couldn't reinstall through adb but just running the apk install once I found where they were hiding in the file system fixed me up. Argh!

Google Apps Cant be disabled

Hello..
I have a One Plus 6T since 1 year and this is the first problem that I have..
I updated the phone a few weeks ago with the last update 9.0.17
Yesterday I did a Wipe data+cache to restore the phone like new..
But I have one problem.. I always disable the apps of google like Duo, Chrome, Youtube and Photos.. But once they are disabled in a few hours automatically they came enabled again.. Why!!???
I know that using adb I can delete those apps but I prefer to use the disable option of the system.. In the last versions of the OxygenOs this was working fine but not now and I know that there is more people with that problem. Anybody knows why,??
Many thanks for the help
I freeze some apps with sd maid as I noticed the same or similar issue
I believe is has to do with the OOS update. I had that problem as well before. I am rooted so I used Titanium to freeze the apps. When things update it appears the app is functional and does not reinstall it.
If you are rooted, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the xXxNoLimits Magisk module. It allows you to debloat both Google and Oneplus apps.
Many thanks for the answers.. I just want to use the tools that offer the system.. I think that is the last update because in the old ones this works like a charm.
I have not rooted yet the phone because I think that OxygenOS works fine without root maybe in the future I will start with magisk modules and custom roms but for now I'm going to wait.
I'll keep waiting for new OS Updates and maybe is solved. Many thanks for the help.
