T-mobile System Update, from Google Play Services? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted T-mobile LG G2 running Android 5.0.2. A couple days ago, (Oct 20 2015?) I got a notification (a box with a down arrow in it) that says T-Mobile has released a system update, for added security. It's about 51MB and I don't see anything online when I search to see what this update is. Because I've removed all bloatware, I was also surprised to see this and wondered what app this update was coming from. I just found out it's "Google Play Services" so it goes away if I prevent notifications.
1. How can I find out what this update is? I don't want to lose root access.
2. The update fails to install anyways. It seems to restart my phone into recovery mode, then just pops up later again. Can it even be installed? If so, how?
3. Can I disable this "updater" from Google Play Services without disabling or uninstalling the entire thing? I need gmail contacts sync...etc.
Thank you in advance for any and all info on this!

[Q] HELP! Galaxy S4 on MF3 | Play Store Crash

Hey, everytime I open my Google Play Store (which I had to get from the internet) it opens for a while, until I try to download something and then is crashes. After it crashes by trying to download something and I try to re-open it, it just crashes on startup and I get a message saying "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped." So this has been happening since yesterday when I used Clean Master to clear up some space on my device, I also link some apps to play using Titanium Backup (don't know if that has anything to do with it) and I attempted to uninstall Google+, and was successful also I applied a custom patch to the Play Store when it worked using lucky patcher. I searched everywhere on the internet and the only solutions i could find are:
1) Clear Play Store and Google Play Services Caches.
2) Enable Download Manager (Which I can't seem to find but I'm not entirely sure on that one so I'll post screenies)
The download manager shown in the screen cap below has no enable or disable option with it)
3) Wipe Android Device completely (Which I did and problem still persisted)
4) Re-Flash ROM. (Which I also did and the problem still continues
So, Im on a completely stock firmware and as soon as I finish going through the setup process feeling relieved I see a notification in my notification shade from the calendar app stating that Google Play Services isn't enabled or something and when I click on the notification the phone fumbles for a second and then the calendar app crashes. After a few minutes, while I was searching for answers, I got my email notifications and everything seemed to be fine. UNTIL I installed the Google Play Store once again, only to have it open and my first attempt to download an app made it crash. And now I'm back to square one. I cannot find "Download Manager" at the bottom of my application list. But I do have two applications under "D" in the App Manager, both called "Downloads".
I'm able to install APKs off the browser just by downloading and installing as normal, and my accounts seem to be working fine. Except the error in the google account "sync error" followed by a message at the bottom of the screen saying sync services are currently unavailable. I'm able to use Youtube and other apps easily without a problem. The only problem is my Play Store. And yes I've already re-cleared the cache and even just cleared the data from both play services and play store in application manager. Problem still persists.
Previous Errors:
1) Device is not provisioned data services error (Which I assume I've fixed because I don't get that error anymore)
2) Google Play Services not supported by your device. (Whenever I opened Youtube, but that doesn't appear anymore)
I'm really out of options this time, I was stumped after I factory restored with ODIN successfully and still was unable to fix my problem. Could this be a Google problem or am I screwed? Really need answers, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH in advance.

UPDATE: I was also able to find my "secdownloadprovider.apk" in my system/app but when I click install is says application not installed...
P.S: If there are any files you would like me to search my device for please say so, I'm becoming really desperate.
New problem
Okay so I decided to wipe the phone once more and re-install the ROM (Which is a stock MF3 ROM that I got from XDA) and the problem still continues, I've been up all night trying to figure this out. Now apps like Google+ (Which I hade to install from the internet on my device) say that the Google Play Services on my device is not supported by my device? What does this mean? It used to happen with the newest version of youtube, now im currently using the old version of youtube which has no problem, and im pretty sure if i were to update it id get the same error. Someone pelase give me some insight. What can possibly be done?

You used all files in the full MF3 Odin? I don't know why it wouldn't work, but your only option may be updating to MK2. It's a very peculiar issue. You could also wipe data in stock recovery and then flash the Odin file to make sure it's as clear as possible.

FIXED IT
After much searching for the problem I gave up and decided to try reloading the stock OS once more and it worked that time... I still have no idea what caused the problem...
Similar issue
Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I'm haing a similar issue with NI1. I'm using titanium backup to restore many of my apps and don't know if it's something I'm doing there that's causing the problem to keep coming back.
I've reloaded stock rom via Safestrap at least twice. But the problem is still there. I can't be certain but i think it may have to do with the syncing of contacts or data with google.
You could always try to reflash the gapps package... If you freeze a part of the gapps package like google services framework, other apps seem to not want to work.

[Q] - Refusing Lollipop (5.0) On New S5 - Verizon ...

Just purchased a new S5 last night, ... new contract, blah, blah, blah ...
Already it wants to OTA me Lolli.
I have another S5 - for business, & on Verizon as well - & I absolutely hate the new user interface, &, most of all, I cannot stand how you are now forced to manage tabs within Chrome.
Apparently I have to deal with it on that phone, but it is the last thing I want on my personal. 4.4.4 Works great, & I am so very used to it before the first phone's OTA that I stupidly allowed.
How can I stop or permanently refuse the OTA's Software Update Ready To Install pop-ups without rooting for special permissions, etc.?
PS: I went into the "App Info" after long-pressing the notification, & the uncheck box is checked, but is also "dimmed" making it not possible to just turn it off that way.
Thank you for anything, folks.

I'm in the same boat here.
Running 4.4.4 also and even with root access, I can't find the correct app to turn off / modify. I've read at other forums to stop notifications from Google Play Service Framework, but this doesn't work for me. Thanks in advance.
A permanent method is to root and disable the update manager
A temp measure is to wait until you get the OTA update notification, boot into recovery and clear caches, then boot back into Android and tell it to install the update, which will fail because you just cleared the cache where the update was saved - that will delay the OTA for about a day,
You have to do that each time you get the notification, but it will postpone the update indefinitely so long as you keep doing it

Google Play doesn't auto update apps

hello, I use android 5.0 lollipop.
Google play doesn't auto update and doesn't show notifications for update waiting apps. When I clear "data" for Google Play Store it starts to show notifications, but when I open Google Play , it asks me about google campaigns and agreements, I accept it, and after this process problem starts again.
I am sure this is about the "data" that Google Play uses. Problem disappears when I clear data. Problem starts again after first usage. (first window)
I tried deleting cache and data for Google play services too. I did factory reset and I removed Google Account. Nothing helps.
Thank you.
Try updating the play store
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/
And clear cache/data for google services / framework
i tried, still no luck.
ive been having issues with updating apps on my s5.
i got an error code 963
it seems to be with apps ive moved to sd card.
i read something about new android OS after a certain version are not allowing apps to stored in sd card.
i unistalled playstore and reinstalled it and i aldo moved the apps to device storage and both those actions or one of them by itself allowed the apps to update
i dont know if it was just uninstalling the playstore or moving the app to device storage though. thought id share my experience
mine is the sm-g900r4

You already said "I did factory reset and I removed Google Account. Nothing helps"
What extra do you think you can achieve without re-flashing a ROM, that a factory reset couldn't fix?

sorry i am just a beginner user ,i have 2 questions
-if i do flashing rom will my phone out of warranty?
-can i see/change Google Play Store files on my phone? i have no root access
thanks.
No you won't lose warranty flashing STOCK ROMs with ODIN
You will lose warranty if you flash anything custom
Which Google store files are you talking about?
And if you had access to them, being a beginner, what would you be looking for, and what would you change, again, that a factory reset did not achieve ?
Unbelievable !
I flashed last stock rom but problem continues.
I check manually most days, and just update any that are sitting waiting
Not sure if there is like a set time period it waits before auto updating, but the notifications for available updates will likely only happen if you disable auto updates, otherwise it has no reason to tell you there are updates waiting, it will/should just update them and tell you once it's done
So try this:
1. Disable auto updates in Google Play settings
2. Wait for a few days until there are some updates available
See if you get notifications
If yes, try this:
1. Enable Auto updates in Google Play
2. Wait a full week without manually updating, see if they auto update

Google Play Services Update

I have an AT&T SGH-I337 that I recently picked up. It was on OC4 when I got it, and I started off by rooting it. That seemed fine...but I eventually discovered that after I added a Google account, when I went back into the settings and tried to open the "Google" option that it will quit with the "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." error. I can uninstall the Play Services update and get into the accounts just fine, until it automagically updates the services again.
I blamed the unknown status of the rom, the root, and whatever else. So, I go through the standard steps from start to finish: odin to NB1, root, FlashFire to OK2, odin OK2 bootloader, and start fresh. I start cleaning up the phone, and discover the issue is still the same! I have let everything update, to include the SuperSU binary. Is this a known issue I cannot seem to find a thread on, or am I missing something?
A bit of googling got me some more information...it looks like it is a fairly common Samsung issue with the current Play Services. Hopefully an update will resolve it.

How to disable Moto G5 Plus Update Notification?

Keep getting the update pops up and I dont want to update. Is there a way to disable the update itself?
I tried App Settings > System Apps > Moto Update Services, Force stopped but there isnt Freeze or disable Options like my S8. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I froze it in Titanium Backup. That is if you're rooted of course.
Why don't you just update what's the point in not updating when there is an update.
This is under the developer options. It bugged me too.
I'd have a street party if mine said there was an update, i think it is a myth and no updates actually exist.

What option stops the notification? Disabling automatic system updates will still prompt you occasionally to update if there is an update pending.
Using Titanium Backup, I assume freezing Motorola Update Services should be the only app required, correct?
If I wanted an opinion on whether or not I should perform the update, I would have referred to the "should I perform the update" thread - not the "How to disable the G5 plus update notification".
Seems like a very simple thing to understand, no?
Here is the real answer:
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.ota
Ok, but more clarification please.

Got a new Moto G5 plus (unlocked) with 7.0. Spouse accidentally downloaded update BUT caught the error before installing the update, and did not install. The file is apparently on the phone and now badgers us constantly to install. I want to halt the automatic update process and remove the downloaded update file. I have disabled automatic updates under the 'Developer Options' as you say, but the notice continues, even after reboot. I suspect it is because the update is now resident on the phone and triggers the process, even though it has been switched off under developer options. This phone has not been rooted. I guess the fix will require rooting, but I'm apprehensive about what method is the most current and reliable, specifically for this phone. Any help on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Til then, a billion annoyances.
Same issue here - and the update notification is extremely aggressive. It will interrupt anything I'm doing, including videos/music on YouTube.
I vaguely recall reading somewhere that we need to flash a stock recovery and boot.img temporarily, but I don't know if that's accurate. I'm wondering if I should just wipe it and install Unofficial LineageOS.
For clarity, at least in my case:
Phone is rooted
TWRP Recovery
Custom boot.img
Stock ROM
EDIT: I'm trying NeoGeo's advice and freezing Motorola Update Services using Titanium Backup.
