Hi,
I have recently switched from an S4 with 4.4.2 installed to the new note 4. When connecting to my car stereo with the S4 via bluetooth the track names of songs playing in the music app and pandora would show up on the deck.
On the Note 4 i have no issues connecting to the deck but now theres no track names.
Is this to do with android 4.4.4?
Any ways to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Seems to be so many variables in getting this to work. Always had problems with my Note 2... Works perfectly with Note 4 and Ford Mytouch Sync.
Try deleting the pairing on both sides and recreate it.
I thought i tried that but ill give it another go.
No one else have this issue or can say it definitely works with pioneer car stereos?

Didnt work
my pioneer head unit was the same, also i couldn't control it with the head unit.
I ended up updating the firmware on the head unit and it solved the problem, check to see if there is a firmware update for your headunit.

The problem is actually with the car stereo. It probably still runs Bluetooth 1.2 or something. I have the same problem in my 2012 Mazda 3. It has a dated Bluetooth. All I see is BT Audio, however it works fine on Ford sync and cars with more recent BT versions.
I have... inconsistent performance with this. If I am using the Play Music radio functionality, everything seems to work well. If I'm playing through an album though, it seems to get "stuck" on the first track played. The track duration updates but the track name does not. Pausing and resuming will get it to update.
With the same car and my Nexus 5 running the same Play Music version I do not run into this issue.
I've got a 2012 Honda Civic EX with the factory iMid (not navigation) system.
Was using an HTC Evo 4g LTE with a custom 4.4.3 ROM and was able to get track names and control music from steering wheel and connected via bluetooth.
Got Note 4 and lost abilty to see track names / artist info. I can still control the phone via steering wheel.
Unfortunately, Honda issues no updates for my factory stereo. If I go 3rd party unit, I loose steering wheel and bluetooth integration with the onboard mic, etc.
I am hoping that Lollipop will correct some of these things or that Samsung will issue a fix. I've seen a lot of posts around the web where people are having the same issue: prior phone worked fine. New note 4 phone lost track names. This was affecting lots of car manufacturers, factory stereos, 3rd party stereos, etc. Hard to narrow it down to one issue, other than all new notes having a new BT stack.
Just throwing my experience in the mix.
Dannon
dlitwin,
Take your car to Honda, some Civics/Accords/CR-V, etc have an update for the Handsfreelink module.

Well, a quick update here. My T-Mobile Note 4 received a system update yesterday, and after that the Bluetooth works as expected with my car.

Not really a stereo problem if the thing that changed was the phone. It should be backwards compatible.
Hopefully theres an update in the works to make it come back. Its illegal here to touch your phone while driving and showing the track names on the deck helps with not having to touch it.
Might have to look at using NFC on my cradle to make the screen stay on, turn on bluetooth and connect the music app.

Anyone found a fix?
First off I apologize for bringing up an old thread. I recently purchased the Pioneer DEH-4800BT head unit so that I could leverage the Bluetooth capabilities. Everything works great, with the exception of the unit reading my music library via Bluetooth. If I restart my Note 4 and then connect it via Bluetooth to the Pioneer head unit, it reads the library and allows me to browse my music as it should. However, if I turn off my vehicle thus disconnecting the Bluetooth connection, the unit will not read my library without me having to restart my Note 4. Has anyone ever encountered this? I have a feeling there is something on my Note 4 preventing the unit from reading the library a second time without restarting. Unfortunately hours of Google searches on this subject have left me with no solutions. What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance!
Hey guys, I usually just lurkj the forums but I figured it is time to ask the pros. First off, this is the unit I am installing today: Seems i cannot post the link but here is the title. from amazon Pumpkin Quad Core 7 inch 2 DIN Universal Android 4.4 Car Stereo Radio HD 1024*600 Muti-touch Screen GPS Navigation Without DVD Player Support WIFI/3G/Bluetooth/OBD2/DVR/Mirror Link
I am running a t-mobile service on my phone and I get free data for certain streaming apps. Its pretty cool. Anyway, I just learned that using the phone as a hotspot and then using one of these streaming apps on the device, in this case the new stereo, it does use my data plan... bummer. Anyway I am wondering if there is a wireless mirroring solution that would work and have control over the phone using the touch screen on the receiver? If there is not, how about a wired solution? I have looked into things like android auto. Does that actually work descent and on our receivers? Thanks everyone and a little nudge in the right direction would be awesome :good:
The pumpkin deck has a really basic bluetooth audio interface. I guess that would be the main thing I would like to change. I use Pandora alot and the interface on the deck is really basic. It gives me the option to skip track and play/pause. If I could at least get a similar interface to my old pioneer deck (id3 tags, thumb up/down) that would be cool. Or even a front end app, now that would rock.... Thanks again.
I am considering buying an Android HU......... Mostly the Pumpkin 7" RQ0278 or the 27-AQTU72.
Among other apps, I plan on installing Tasker and Mighty Text and have some questions I hope can be answered here.
First of all.... Can these units install these apps from the Play store and if so, I plan on having Tasker read out loud my texts as I receive them: if I am listening to music from the radio app will the music stop so that Tasker can read the message.... Also along the same line...... Can I be using the radio app while navigating and hear directions over the music?
2: will I regret not going with 6.0 or will a 5.1 be sufficient....... What's the biggest difference between the two?
3:. Does saying "OK Google" work just like my phone or tablet does?
4:. I currently have an aftermarket Pioneer in my 2006 Dodge Ram installed with a PAC steering wheel interface module...... Will I still use this module and program it the same way or can I do away with it all together?

1a -->yes.google play works perfectly.
1b --> I don't know how is managed the radio and Tasker in background. What works perfectly is using navigation and radio on background and you can decide if gps instructions are mixed with background (and mixing level) or background muted.
2 --> similar performance IMHO
3--> yes..working on any screen
4 --> if you have pac only for retain steering wheel buttons and they are resistive and Not can-bus controlled you can remove pac on your installation
If pac controls other things (reverse camera signal) you will need pac as well
I have a mazda cx5 and I had to keep pac for reverse signal aa it is coded by can bus...but my steering wheel buttons worked without pac (they work with pac too)
if I did help you, please hit "thanks" button
Back in 2017 I installed the Joying JY-UL124N2 SoFIA in my 2006 Dodge Ram. With lots of help from this forum I was able to get it working the way I wanted......I was able to get "OK Google" to work as it should, along with tweaks so that I could use Tasker and lots of other issues I cannot even remember..... but overall I was happy with it......anyway, moving forward this unit has acquired too many bugs and I do not have time to tinker with it. I would like to replace it with something that will work exactly as if I installed an Android tablet in my dash but also plays AM/FM. My requirements are.......
Volume knob on left
reverse camera input
video input for my front camera
dash cam....USB
RCA output for Kenwood amp
Sub output
DO NOT want DVD/CD
steering wheel control
MUST have working Google Play Store
As I stated, I am not looking to make a hobby out of making one work as it should.........Does such a unit exist?....
Have you looked at the Atoto A6? It seems to meet all your requirements except for the volume knob. It also has dual Bluetooth. Also the unit is not rootable but from what I gather reading and watching videos...it really doesn't need to be. I just purchased one and am going to install it later today. It's on my bench right now. I've been configuring it and am impressed so far.

Thanks. ...I'll check it out. I'd like to know if "ok google" and Google assistant work, does it give turn by turn voice navigation?

Yes sorta....Apparently google changed something and they are using a workaround using the HOUND app. The Atoto has dual bluetooth so you can tether your phone's internet over bluetooth. I will say that google assistant works when you hit the little google microphone and works pretty well. Also voice navigation in Waze works straight away. I literally just got it installed today and am still learning. You can read several threads about Atoto on here.
Hello friends
I have installed in my car a multi-media android tesla style.
It's working perfect. But there is a detail that has stopped working. Before, it worked correctly.
The steering wheel controls work to change the songs of bluetooth, however in the application of the spotify installed in android does not work.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Any settings I may have stirred and spoiled?
I tried to contact the seller, but he does not give correct support.

The Solution: For those with the same problem the solution is a version of spotify. Publish an older version of the app and it worked.
