So , i had my hd2 and i got magldr on it and clockwork i think how its called , for installing android from sd. Android worked fine but then suddently it just turned off and i can't put it back on , not even in the bootloader ;s its just a black screen , no response or nothin , tried to plug it in , not even showing it is actually recharging , the battery was 60% at that time. Also i tried everything , hard reset , soft reset & taking the battery in and out, also tried to connect to my pc , but it didn't do anything. Any solutions for this? plz im desperate
It seems like your phone is bricked. That's the time when it becomes so unresponsive (like it's dead) to how you described it.
and is it possible to unbrick this?

Not in your case. Only if you were able to boot into bootloader then you could.
you got any suggestions what i should do?

A jtag method could fix it... pm send to you.
Bent battery pin.
how can i see this , how should the pins be?
If one is bent it is usually pretty obvious, all three should be sticking straight out, all the same, but they catch easily on the plastic surrounding the terminals on the battery.
The normal cause of your symptoms is a regular radio flashed to a tmous,, or a flat battery. If the option of putting another battery in your phone, or your battery in a different hd2 is possible, you should deff try that, just to rule it out.
the pins are all ok , i can see it on the led of my powerplug. when i put the battery out it is green when i put it back in it is red
Hello there
i have exactly the same problem with my HD2.
Did someone managed to restore his phone ?
Thanks
Hi, the background is my defy suddenly started shutting down and restarting over and over again. It then turned off never actually starting up. I followed the instructions to hold down vol key and power and i had the little man and ! appear, but then the battery died. It now wont do a thing, no lights, power . I have even tried my wifes defy battery fully charged and i cant power it up. I have plugged into into the pc with no result. Have a got to send this to my insurers or is there something else i can try, i could do without the excess and inconvinience, Thanks Steve
First charge your battery using the Mc gayver methode

If he tried another, fully charged accu, then no use to try 'McGyver' - especially can be dangerous if not properly applied.
I had similar problem solved with another battery.
Unfortunately seems bigger hardware problem and I would suggest to send it for repair.
Many thanks, i have definately tried a fully charged battery, so i will take the repair advice, i do have insurance, although its with the awful supercover company, but hopefully the will eventually sort it , cheers

I once managed to rescue a Defy that wouldn't power up by flashing a stock ROM with RSDLite.
Because stock ROM SBFs don't touch your data partition you have a pretty good chance of reviving your Defy without losing your data. If you turn it in for repair it's almost certainly going to be wiped, so I'd try to flash it first before handing it over to the repair guys.
Recently my Motorola Defy+ received a pretty soft blow from a hammer. It really was just quite small impact. As result the phone is not booting
- It is showing the red Motorola logo (the one when you first turn on the device, no animated "waves" appearing)
- Nothing else happpens
- If I try to start the bootloader (press power and volume +) it starts and says OK, ready to program
So at least something is still working, right?
I know this situation sounds quite similar to bricking your phone after failed rooting or flashing but this problem was caused by a hammer, so I feel it's okay to post this question even though there are similar problems.
- I have not rooted or flashed my phone
Question: Is it possible to recover any data via USB or otherwise, even though the phone is not booting? (My SMS backup was a few days old)
Nope

Hi, guys!
Lately I've been running CM7 on my Defy, but after several days without using it I tried to charge the phone and suprise! screen shows a questionmark that I can't avoid. The phone doesn't initiate without charger plugged. I can access to recovery and flash everything i want to. But the problem is anything that I've flashed can solve my problem, not even battery fixes. Any idea? The best progress I've made is to see CM9 screen (if I install CM9 and its battery fix) loading, but after 5 minutes of waiting shows me the same screen.

Did he flash any new SBF recently? I accidentally flashed a BL7 SBF to my green lens Defy and ever since, no battery gets recognized. Still hoping someone suggests a fix... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202747

I can't do a hard reset because system doesn't boot at all. Just the logo load screen.

I tried everything I found in this forum. Flashed stock Froyo, hard reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik, battery stats, fixed permissions, installed Battery Callibration went back to previous CM that worked, flashed battery fixes and still can't get the "unknown battery" thing fixed. I got a question mark in the status bar and when I go to Settings>Battery it shows 100% Unknown. In the lock screen it shows "100% Discharging" In the bootloader however it shows the real percentage. I don't know what else to do.

Happened to me that the brand new battery didn't charge, just a question mark on the notification bar(I even charged via mcGyver Style). Check your connection pins on the battery between + and -. It couldn't check the battery load status. Check yours if still have the problem.

Motorola Razr

Hi Sunnysays,
I have applied your method to Motorola Razr Xt 910 about two months ago. It worked fine. Today, the problem reappeared. The system gives a false reading of the battery status (100%, however different reading is shown at Safestrap). Battery meters report discharging but not charging, and my circular icon is greyed and empty or with a tiny ? mark.
I have tried your method again and the fast boot says the battery is ok but the problem does not go away. I did it a few times - still no improvement. I am depressed
I wonder if you have further suggestions what can be done.

Hi,
I had the same problem on Moto Razr XT910. Used your approach in a simpler version (basically, I wiped all and rebooted the system - CM Android 4.4.2). It worked. I thought others might want to know. A couple months earlier, it has also appeared but then Sunnysays' other method worked (it did not this time). He (you ) suggested to power down Defy, then hold lower volume key and reconnect the charge cable.
Interesting - the symptoms are the same but the causes must differ slightly as of the two methods of repair, only one worked each time but not the other.
Defy and Razr XT910 share a problem (and solutions)

I did and it worked beautifully. Thanks again for the great ideas!
They seem to have the same subcomponents in both Defy and XT910, at least judging from the nature of the problem and solutions that work.

Hey guys, got the infamous question mark here too, the problems seems to be some outdated "battd" file which I can't replace nor change its permissions (no idea why tho). So I tried a hard reset but didn't work at all, and now I can't even transfer the rom to sd card again, since the phone shuts down when not plugged to the charger. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Stuff wire into the battery terminals
Chances are that, the defy battery terminals do not touch/contact the phone's terminals properly. In such cases, the battery is not detected and we get the ? .
Try this quick fix: Stuff and tightly pack small copper/metal wire pieces (could be taken from any usb cable, remove the insulation and use the bare metal wire) inside the crevice of all 4 terminal holes of the battery and then fix the battery to the phone.
Improper contact problem will be resolved.
Hi! I'm a defy owner and yesterday a friend gave me his old defy that was stuck at the motorola red logo wondering if I can help him to recover functionality since he lost his main phone.
I tried two or three .sbf's without luck, then I thought his defy might be running bl7 so I tried with the Chinese sbf, it returned a fail in the program and a series of numbers in the screen. I thought 'Ok, no problem, let's try another one', so I didn't write down the code but for my surprise the phone is no longer turning on.
I tried using the McGiver trick, it didn't work. Once with my phone defy I had a similar problem, the screen was black but RSD could recognize it anyway, but I was unsuccessful trying that with this one. I also tried keeping pressed different combinations before connecting the batteries (I have a drained one and a fully charged one). Nothing happened.
I even tried jumping and desoldering the little clock battery from the board without success. Honestly I ran out of ideas. The only sign I have is the white led when I connect the drained battery trying to entering the bootloader without McGiver (but someone told me that was because of the drained battery).
Honestly I think is gone for good, but just in case i'm posting this. I hope this was descriptive enough, any ideas will be received.
Thanks, live long and prosper
