My Wi-Fi disconnects & reconnects all the time on this device.
I'm sitting 4 feet away from my router with no walls or steel sheeting between us.
I have attempted some router changes to manual Bands & this hasn't helped at all.
Is this a known issue for this device like the early shutdowns & battery issues ?
Are there any networking diagnostic Android apps that will track disconnects & give me info in a nice format that isn't hundreds to thousands of lines long ?
This has happened to me SEVERAL times after a factory reset or flashing stock. I have factory reset my modem/router and that hasn't worked but what did work was simply unplugging my router/modem and plugging it back in. Strange but true.

My HTC HD has WIFI Problem: WiFi will not turn on most of the time.
After tapping the Wi-Fi Switch (in Communications Tab) it hangs for about 7 seconds then stops.
Sometimes after 6 seconds the wifi Icon will appear for 1/2 a second but then disappears.
The only way I can get it to connect at all is if the device is cool and I remove the battery for a while....
...Then restart it and Wi-Fi will switch on sometimes (but fail most of the time).
I have flashed the ROM (by different Cookers) many times, Hard Reset the device many times, and used all different power settings: Still no good.
If error reporting is ON I get error message "device.exe' problem.
As I live in Australia I would have to pay heaps for freight if I send it back to UK so I'm loath to do so.
Anybody know what should I do to fix it?
(PS. My old Diamond connects every time)
I have a similar WiFi connectivity problem, but after reading of the poor service provided by most vendors and HTC itself, I will try to gather some more experience with the problem before I contact HTC or my vendor, and hopefully find a solution. Bellow is my experience so far:
I own an HTC Touch HD since January and have a similar problem, only it surfaced last week. Before I had only used the WiFi connectivity briefly. The problems started after I installed an AP on my house expressively for the new PDA. The node is fully open and set to B/G/N protocols.
After a couple days of medium (couple hours per day) use the WiFi connection suddenly quit, the device would try to connect (the top bar showing the WiFi connection animation continuously) and after a few moments gave up with a dialog box stating the current network settings were wrong (even thou they worked fine a few hours earlier).
I tried several hot and cold resets, but only solved the problem after flashing a new ROM; even then the same symptoms reappeared after a couple of days of regular use. Again no re-setting would cure the problem, and now not even flashing the ROM again would work. Nonetheless, some hours latter the WiFi would connect perfectly with the same nodes it refused to before, and in very short time.
I have witnessed this cycle twice and have yet not been able to find a trigger for it, but will keep my eyes open for any tell tale signs, and post any findings here.
What I found out is that If you are using CommManager in TF3D together with other wifi mgr it screws up the wifi. Either you use CommManager or you use 3rd party one but not both at the same time.
Agreed!
Yes I agree completely; something on the permanent storage area got corrupted last week after I installed WiFi Monster (which I like, and recommend, only not at the same time as the standard connection manager).
I managed to get the WiFi conection working again (if only for a couple of days...) by doing the Start>Settings>Clear Storage thing and following the re-install.
Ok, so at least now I know of one more thing that can screw up th HD's WiFi besides itself!
i cant connect to my wifi in my same bedroom !!!
Enhancing WiFi performance
If you get very low range, or frequent connection interruptions, it might help to go to: Settings>Connections>Wi-Fi>Advanced>Power Mode and set it to "Best Performance"
PS. I wonder if anybody gets intermittent WiFi problems like myself. One day it works perfectly, the next it will not connect showing a dialog box: "Warning Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider settings and try again"
I sent my note 3 (sim free n9005) to repair one month ago because a sensor didn't work (another story). Now the sensor problem has been fixed. But there is another issue. The wifi keeps dropping. I mean wifi is completely turned off on my phone, then it tries to turn on, and off again... I have googled a while,it's not the wifi is slow, it's the wifi is completely turned off then it tries to turn it on, and keeps turning on and off. At first it happens occasionally and it can be turned on. Until several days ago, wifi could not be turned on at all. If I go into setting - connection - wifi, I will see it says 'turning on' but nothing happens. Reboot helps sometimes but the issue soon reappear. I did factory reset but no use. I would think it's the phone's problem. But When I go outside and test in public wifi (university wifi, MacDonald etc), it got no problem at all. So I began to think maybe there is something with the router. So I turned off my router, the wifi is turned on immediately and I can see all the wifi connections from my neighbours.
My router is virgin media netgear vmdg485 (100M fiber optical). I googled it, it seems specially made for Virgin media. It's a modem/router all-in-one device. Just wondering has anyone else got similar experience? B.T.W all other devices in my home connect to the wifi no problem at all. I think they may have upgraded my android software on the repair. I never had this problem before the repair. But android is the latest version (checked in settings). So I don't know what option I have on software side. Probably I need to try a new router?
And also I have tried everything I found on Internet (turn off switch network etc in advanced setting in wifi. turn off power saving for wifi, disable wifi direct/share, etc).

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my note and was advised to go into the wifi settings and deactivate "Scanning always available" and "Auto network switch".
I had this problem with a Virgin media router and where android was under the impression the connection was unstable it was deactivating the wifi to go back to the cellular.
This may be completely wrong but it solved it for me.
Hope this helps!
I had this issue and the only thing that solved it was a factory reset.
I had a similar problem with my Note 3 (SM-N9005) and Virgin Superhub 1
I hadn't previously noticed problems with wi fi at home when using different phones in the same location.
After much reading on support forum I concluded that many Superhub users believe the device is not very effective when operating as both a cable modem + wi fi router.
I opted for an expensive solution of buying a new wi fi router.
My Superhub now operates just as a cable modem and is connected via ethernet cable to the adjacent Asus RT-AC66U which does have the advantage of 802.11 ac.
Speed test result from Note 3 via wi fi setup described above.

Thanks paul, mine is super hub as well. I want to get a router to test, but worring if it doesn't solve the issue.
wow, that router is a lot of money, really hope it's not the router issue.
For the last week or two I have been unable to connect my phone to wifi networks.
At first the problem would be that I was getting disconnected from any wifi network I joined, now I can't connect at all.
The wifi networks page sometimes (not always) does not detect a strong network even if I am standing a few feet away and the phone has previously connected and other APs are connected and working like my pc
If I try to connect then I get the "Connecting" status followed by "Saved, secured"
I have searched the internet looking for a fix to this and tried wiping the cache partition, forgetting the network, airplane mode toggling on and off, apps that wipe the known network list and some others including lastly a factory reset on the phone but nothing seems to remedy the issue.
From the wifi router I have tried using an unencrypted (open) connection
Now I think I may also be having problems with the bluetooth connecting in the car but I haven't had a chance to really investigate that one yet and it may or may not be related to the last factory reset.
My phone is not rooted.
Build no. LRX21T.G870AUCU2B0F3
kernel3.4.0-4443965

Can anyone offer any assistance to my current issue ?
Alan
I have just confirmed that the Bluetooth in my car is not detecting my phone when it scans (the phone bt is switch on and the visible box being checked) so that's both radios with similar issues.

Im having same issue with wifi... sm-g900r4
I just stumbled on a clue, while using an app called 'wifi cleaner' there is a feature allowing you connect to wifi networks within the app. I type in the password, authenticating is shown on the screen followed by "incorrect password".
I know the password to be correct..
Mmm

I was wondering if you ever got this issue fixed?
I thought I had but the problem comes back in a different way.
Sometimes wifi connects but only connects at 5 mbps.
Now wifi will not turn on at all. ( radio button is greyed in settings)
I did find a thread on xda where some Motorola users were having the wifi off issue and it was due to a missing system file which could be replaced on a rooted device. However I don't have root on my s5 g870a and it's not likely I can get it.
I can't be connected on wifi for more than 5 secs. It's just turning off and on. Tried turning off smart switch, bluetooth, etc and other solutions but it doesn't work for me. **** this bull****. Anyone?
Having an issue with my wifi aswell. Not the same as yours. My connection speed to my router seems to jump around randomly. Going from 400Mbps all the way down to 1Mbps and many speeds in between. Has been causing issues with browsing and downloading apps. Need to turn wifi off and on again and it'll work for a while. Never had these issues with my s7 edge.
I started experiencing the same thing after 15 days with wifi disconnecting and reconnecting on it's own.
I fixed it by going to settings>connections>more connections>reset networking. I then rebooted the phone and the wifi is now stable again.
I have the same issue..
Wifi keeps toggling on its own.
I tried resetting the network setting, Factory reset still the issue is same.
Not sure what to do.
I know i'm not alone since i've seen this issue not only on my phone. When i'm at home my phone is mostly connected to wifi. My router is Linksys AC1900. Sometimes both the wifi and 4G icons appear together. when this happens my battery is draining like hell. a simple restart of the phone or the router is not a solution - i found that in order to make the 4G icon go away i need to first turn off the router so the phone is connected only to the mobile network, than i have to turn off both the data connection and wifi of the phone; than i need to go and clean the cache through the builtin recovery menu. the problem is that sometimes even performing all these things is not enough and the 4G icon won't go away. Download booster and Smart network switch are both turned off, but playing with them do not really affect the issue. also i tried connecting to both 2.4 or 5ghz wifi with no difference. i also tried setting a fixed IP address for my phone, but again this does not affect the issue. any ideas? i'm pretty certain that it's not a hardware issue since i've seen it happening to other people too. it's quite annoying since it's totally destroying the battery life of the phone and it seems that there's no real solution for this behavior.
What model number is your phone? Have you considered reflashing firmware / factory resetting the phone?
The model is 935f. I've tried reflashing with stock several times (the phone is not rooted) but after a while the problem comes back. This is the only issue I've had with this phone but it's quite annoying.
I've got the same issue. The only solution i've seen till now is to reflash with a custom rom.
Same
I have picked up the same type of issue. I did some snooping around and have found that if I have my mobile data on when in the streets and when I get home and I turn on my wifi, that if my wifi signal is very bad and my mobile data is on, then it would show both signals. It's as if the phone tries to get whatever data from both, since the wifi is so bad. I agree that it really chows the battery. The only fix I could get to work is to switch of the data and move closer to the wifi where it's the strongest. I will sit at the router for a minute or two, It then automatically removes the 4g sign and only works on wifi. If I stay where the wifi signal is bad and disable mobile, it stays there even though my data is off.
Did you do a factory reset and restore your phone to its original settings?
