Hi I seen a hack for this in the registry before, but I cannot find it now!
Every game that I open up spends about 20 seconds at the loading screens, I guess that's retrieving save data in the cloud. It's a waste of time and I don't need solitare saves stored in the cloud for other PCs. Starting these games in W7 is rocket fast instead.
I did Google this and checked the FAQs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048548
Probably this,
http://www.howtogeek.com/167058/how-to-disable-skydrive-integration-in-windows-8.1
Of course if you are not using Metro apps, using a local account disables Skydrive and all Metro stuff. For those interested in only "legacy" Windows--raises hands--it's a simpler world than having to deal with new MS-created complications.
Heh, I learned something new about 8.1 while at above page, that disk encryption is enabled by default for new PCs that have Connected Standby. Since only Atom devices thus far have CS, I never ran into this issue. Good to know if I ever pick up a Bay Trail toy.
http://www.howtogeek.com/173592/win...drives-by-default-everything-you-need-to-know
Huh. I wonder if you can still use manage-bde.exe to tweak (or suspend) the encryption. The default configuration (TPM protector and recovery key protector only) isn't really all that strong. TPM+Pin is much stronger, for example, or you can go full multi-factor and require a flashdrive with a key on it, too.
Anybody with RT 8.1 want to test this? Try just suspending it first:
Open Command Prompt or PowerShell as Administrator.
Run the command (without quotes) "manage-bde -protectors -disable C:"
On RT 8.0 (or on any other BitLocker-capable version of Windows going back to Vista), that puts BitLocker in "suspended" state (writes a plain-text key to the disk, which can be used to decrypt the actual encryption key). Incidentally, this is handy if you need to tweak something in the boot process (which will normally upset the TPM) without needing to either enter your recovery key or decrypt-and-re-encrypt the drive.
To the OP: do you have any actual reason whatsoever to believe that this is the cause of the problem? For example, have you observed any network traffic during this time? If you start the game without being connected to the Internet, does it start faster?
From Microsoft, on the subject of roaming storage:
Windows roams app data opportunistically and doesn't guarantee an instant sync. In scenarios where a user is offline or on a high latency network, roaming could be delayed significantly.
Click to collapse
which strongly implies that roaming data will not delay app startup.
In any case, I believe you can turn it off (system-wide) if you want to. Settings charm -> Change PC settings -> Sync your settings -> App settings. (Note: this is from 8.0, 8.1 may be different.)
Thanks for the feedback.
I'm currently using a local account yep.
As for delays, yes, when I used a MS account in the past, login would take about 10 seconds - after clicking enter when the password was filled in. I definitely did edit something once before that eliminated having to wander around several loading screens. It was either in the registry or group policy, it was something that I disabled...I went on a disable-spree (after creating restore point) for cloud sync and everything was faster. That was on 8.0 with a MS account. I'm using 8.1 with a local account and the only annoyance with this is games. It's not a major issue of course, but 20+ seconds for solitare/mahjong is awful.
I just tried opening games with flight mode on and it took less than 10 seconds. If you have 50MB broadband or better, that's great, I bet it doesn't lag but I don't.
The problem likely lies with the games you installed. The downside to net-access ubiquity is that it's now the norm for apps to "phone home." But it wasn't too long ago that "phone-home" software was considered spyware. Then, it behooves you to seek out games a few years older, which should obviate the phone-home tendency. For the common casual games for Windows, it shouldn't be hard to find.
An alternative to switching off wifi is to exclude said games from net access from the Windows firewall.
• Secure locking of your smartphone
• Hide your personal data when sharing your mobile with your friends, by enabling guest log in option to your mobile
• Honor 7 back cover is well designed with metallic surface body. The surface is with salient point design, wear-resistant, anti-skidding, dust-proof, anti-fingerprint and easy to clean. Protects your phone against scratches, dust, dirt and other minor damages in daily use.
• The Honor 7's fingerprint sensor also has something in store even for fingers that have not been enrolled. For example, a long tap can send you back home, sliding down will also slide down the notification panel, while sliding up brings up recent apps. This is definitely more than what more common sensors allow and is a great way to reuse that small space.
Interesting tips...thanks.
Also individual apps can be locked and protected. I've got mine set up with the fingerprint unlock for sensitive apps. Works great!
On previous devices I had to use a third party app from the play store and a password to unlock each app. Now it is so quick and easy.
and somebody starts a new thread / topic just to inform about it??

Thanks, I didn't know that, and used finger print locking, however there are a few bugs with the guest account
1.if using nova launcher, if the app is locked, the desktop shortcut will disappear permanently (administration account won't solve it, but it can still be accessed through the launcher)
2.setting can still be accessed, which is not great for guest
But there is no Open Mode / Secure Mode option available, like some android ROMs have and I think stock Google also has. It is good when your official really needs to be separate from personal work
Manage Device AdministratorsOn most Android devices, you assume Android Device manager will work without having to set it up. With the Honor 8's device administration security features, one more step is required.
Device Administrators
An app with Device Administrator activated with be able to perform actions like:
Erase all data
Change the screen-unlock password
Set password rules
Monitor screen-unlock attempts
Lock the screen
If you've ever tried an app that needs to perform one of these actions, and it's not working properly, it's probably because you do not have that app activated in your device administration settings.
Activate Device Administration Permissions for Apps
To access the device administrator menu, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Security > Device Administrators
One app that you'll find is not activated is Android Device Manager. If you want to use all of the features like remote locking your device or wiping your data, you'll need to activate this app. This is an important security app and is a life saver if your phone ever gets stolen. So make sure you activate it.
I can't activate any device adminstrator in Settings > Security > Device Administrators. When I hit “activate”,It just move back to the list screen and nothing happens, every checkbox remain unchecked.
I think this is due to the rom customization, which rooted the device initially.
Is there any way to activate an app as device administrator other than click "activate" within settings, e.g. by editing some files?
thanks!

you have to go to battery settings and choose the app you want to not close after the screen goes off, then you can activate it and will stay active

thanks for your help!
actually I'm using a android TV OS, and there's nothing except a battery saver option in battery settings, which is off now.
I've been googling for 2 hours but nothing actually works on me.
hello, im fairly new to this, im using an alcatel fierce4 with marshmallow 6.0.1.....its brand new to me, just got it a week ago, I downloaded a app called secret video recorder, it didn't work and said I needed to add it to device administrator, so I did, now I'm noticing severe device lag and constant full page ads on any random screen, I tried to remove the app from device admin and when I do it crashes my settings app, ive tried to hard reset my device and the app is still there...pls help
I have installed outlook on realme xt which is managed by my company.
This app gets deactivated regularly in realme xt.
What is rootcause and solution for this
We got the official EMUI 5 on Nougat for Honor 8 distributed officially. This thread hopefully serve to list all the bugs encountered for the official release of EMUI 5.
My routine after receiving an update is to start fresh with a factory reset. The OTA update went fine and the device was running great. However after backing up everything to google and Hisuite and doing a factory reset i found a bug
During the initial phone setup after reset, i was able to connect to my wifi and login to my google account. Then the option page between choosing restore from backup and set up as new phone i tried restoring from backup. The phone failed to connect to my google account. It cited no internet connection. I tried using my mobile data and my internet from Mifi device without success. I ended up choosing setup new device and i found all my internet connection is running fine.
I tried factory reset a few times including going to recovery clearing th cache and factory reset. This is a stock device. No custom recovery or unlocked boot loader.
I found that i cant kill aplications when screen is looked and as well with aplications that draining my battery to much.

Requests and/or bugs:
1) GUI / Settings to Disk that shows & allows setting of encryption, including user password/pin different than actual password.
a) in lieu of this, it should work with the $vdc commands from adb shell or terminal emulator
2) GUI / settings : Adoptable storage interface and ability for the OS (Just like plain android 7, 6, 7.1) to show the actual "pseudo-internal" storage and however your decided to subdivide your sdcard (ext). Apps should go to the least full of the int or ext SD.
3) Release your source code (the hostage crisis should be over by now). You've done nothing to help development yet. There isn't even a TWRP that works with Nougat encrypted. Get the blobs as needed by devs out there. It's starting to look like you just lied about being interested in the development scene.
4) Notifications on lockscreen (I think that's enough to say).
5) Don't even bother to put in settings that don't work or work correctly. There are many of those.
It's a start

I find an annoying bug in b360 is what follows: when you click on a three dotted menu of an app like WhatsApp, earlier you could just drag you finger on the page below the menu to exit it and at the same time use the page, now you have to do one tap to exit and then you can use the page. It's a step more and it's annoying.
Sometimes expanding and shrinking the notifications of a media player gives strange results, like dimensions not optimised or stuck on fading animation.
When you click on three dotted menu of an app in the PlayStore, it leaves a grey mark above the menu. Of course, as I said earlier, to exit the little menu you have to do a single tap outside it, otherwise you cannot simply begin using the page below to make the menu disappear from itself.
Please Honor quickly release an update to fix these bugs. Oh, and I agree with who said that your promise to collaborate with developers is starting to sound like a lie. I come from honor 7 and honor 6, but won't buy the next if you don't get things right with Honor 8.
Huawei's own backup app doesn't work on EMUI 5. I am used to titanium backup but on EMUI 4.1, using the built-in backup and restore app for data, apps, call logs etc was very convenient. However on EMUI 5, this app can't be downloaded from the Play Store too as it's target API is upto MM only.
I have some bugs
First With the WiFi, I have a router belkin with 2.4 and 5 ghz bands and when I connect to anyone I can't connect to the other, i need to forgot to connect to the other one or connect to 5 ghz band and go far when the 5 ghz don't appear and connect to the 2.4 ghz doing that I can connect to the two bands.
The other bug it's with the option to get down the notification bar with the finger, sometimes won't work I need to go to the settings and work again.
The other bug it's with the battery saver option to low resolution to 720p wont work.
And finally, in my case the adb USB debugging don't work, in my computer show me offline and in the phone don't appear the window to allow permission
1) SmartKey gesture, swipe down to show notification panel doesn't work sometimes. Workaround is to not use the SmartKey once and then it starts working again.
2) Stock message app. Replying from lockscreen is buggy. Sometimes it opens the app and sometimes not. When it does open the app, and type your reply from the keyboard, it doesn't register it. Workaround is to hide the keyboard and type again.
I can confirm the wifi bug. It took a long time to happen (which is why it was probably missed during testing) but at some point during the night it disconnected, and I had to restart to be able to reconnect.
Other bug I have in beta and now in official it's some music files when I use stock music app play with no sound, but use vlc and play well all music

Two separate topics.
I have the LS777 Boost version running Nougat. I broke the screen and it sat for a couple years before I decided to replace it. Either I forgot the pattern lock or it did because I can't get past it. key points:
USB debugging IS on. It shows up as unauthorized
I can access the recovery screen
NOT rooted (yet, seeing it can be on here prompted me to fix it)
NO custom recovery
No dialer in emergency call mode
When I go from the lockscreen to the camera, take a pic, then hit the pic to preview it, then hit the share button, a bunch of social media icons pop up. If I hit one, it ALMOST goes past the lock screen trying to pull up the app to share.
I have it registered with LG, but I can't find a way to do anything with my device, let alone unlock it, you know like Samsung has.
Account device manager experiment: It had all five of my main accounts on there, but since I regularly change my passwords, I get the Account Action Required notification. If I can get it to authenticate on one of them, then I should be able to go to Where's My Device and set a new lock. I know all of the passwords I have used on my accounts, but I don't know what password I was on when this phone was active. Using my hotspot and changing the name to one of an open wifi I know I conneted that phone to, I am able to get it online (hence the notifications). I took one account and started changing the password on it, waiting 24 hours between each change and waiting a few minutes (until the notification hits my main phone at least) before powering it on. I'm on the third password and no luck.
It's theoretically sound, but I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure whether my device will authenticate the account when I get to the right password.
And yes, I know I can just wipe it. It's an old phone running Nougat that I haven't factory reset. The data on there isn't important, it's just a perfect situation to run some experiments on.
Second thing, because the issue of unlocking LG bootloaders still exists:
I have up Windows Device Manager because I'm working with various phones here. It's on the lock screen (booted normally) and is showing up under Portable Devices. If you co to the Details tab, scroll down to Capabilities, it has a second value: "CM_DEVCAP_SURPRISEREMOVALOK"
Remove a lock? Is this something we can exploit, or is LG pouring salt into the wound caused by them refusing to give us the codes to unlock the bootloaders.
Upon further research, that description in device manager is "surprise removal ok" and had to do with unplugging it.
Still, screw LG for keeping their bootloaders locked even after they decided they were getting out of the cell phone business. Makes the fact they had to shut down their forums even funnier.
On password number 4 of 5. I have a feeling this experiment isn't going to work. I'll report back after the next be password change.
I'm fairly certain I have tried every password from that account by now, and it didn't work.
However there are three other counts on there, stop I'll run the same experiment with them and see what happens.
I mentioned something about sharing pics from the gallery. From the lock screen,
1. Go to the camera icon and pull up camera,
2. Take a pic,
3. The picture will show up in the gallery preview box in the lower right corner. Press (or long-press) it and a pop-out menu will appear just above it.
4. If you pull the menu out, you'll see a bunch of links to various social media sites.
5. Click one of them. I've tried them all, but I usually pick Tumblr because it's the first one.
6. The screen changed to the app's background and it appears to start loading the app and will hang there for about 3 seconds, but then you get sent back to lock screen. It's 3 seconds can be maddening because looks like you're allllllllllmost there and then...no, no you're not.
If anyone knows if there's an exploit there, in all ears. I'm going to restart that password experiment with the second account now.
And I know most "plz help me get past me locked screen" posts are sus and address likely people trying to either scam someone by stealing their info or trying to spy on their significant other. So if anybody has any questions I'll gladly verify that I do own all of the accounts, that they're on this locked device, but due to the time that has passed they don't show up in the device lists in the accounts (not even in the web version of the Play store), and due to password changes wile it was broken, it won't sink now and allow me to reset the lock through "where's my device."
