Is the phone good?

My 15 year old nephew wants a mobile. Main use will be music and free games. I was looking at Samsung Galaxy Mini and a user suggested this phone which seems to be available in India as Dell XCD35.
Is the phone good for the price.can he download and play games? How is ram and internal memory?
Would users suggest to but this phone?
I have read there are battery drain problems. Are these solved now?

It's better than a galaxy mini because it has a better screen. Battery is as good as any other Android smartphone. 512mb ram & 512mb rom. The camera is poor, especially in low light & doesn't have any flash. Like the Galaxy mini it is a low end phone with a relatively slow armv6 cpu, so most games will work, but some of the more demanding 3D games wont work.
The ARMv6 cpu also means that it can't run the official version of Adobe Flash or Google Earth, or a few other apps.
Depending on what's available in your country & the prices it is probably the best phone for the money, but it can't compete with higher end phones (which are usually at least double the price).

yeah its a great phone
I love it. But realy you must install a custom rom because stock sucks much. Cm7 has a great battery life! I can have 2-3 days buut heavy use internet and games 1day. I love it for 130€ its great! Realy.

Thanks for the replies. I can understand that high end games won't run. But it seems a great value for money phone, the screen size and resolution are really impressive in specification, hope in reality too they are good. I will surely suggest this phone only.

I bought one while my HTC was in warranty repair and first I was a bit affraid that it would be crap. After a few weeks I found it to be an excellent phone.
Now I sold the ZTE to my father a couple of weeks ago and I started to miss it a week after, ... and I have a desire HD believe that?
I just ordered one in the Nederlands for 100 Euro which will arrive tomorrow and I am feeling happy again.

Now I am firm that this is the phone to buy. Thanks everyone for their inputs.

The phone is good(I think u might have bought it by now.) But watch out for Dead pixels on the screen, speaker clipping(the speaker flutters while playing songs that have bass), the white color status bar that makes a mark on the OLED screen, no loudspeaker in FM Radio app, no LED to show u missed calls(there is a back button led but doesn't flash), The phone OVERHEATS while charging, removing the back cover is like peeling off formica(plywood- whatever u call it) from ur table...
Otherwise its a really good phone. U can find workarounds for the above problems.
And BTW u can play HD high end games...
I still love this phone!!

A couple of thoughts about that one.
Dead pixels. Haven't seen one of the 10 Blades I saw.
Speaker clipping. Well the thing is at least 5 times as loud as my Desire HD and the sound of the speaker has some body.
No led, true but also alot of other phones have the same issue.
New ones use LCD not Oled, the quality of the screen is very very good.
The back, well yes, but I rather have a back were RF signals like wifi, gps etc can get thru. Wipes the floor with my Desire HD in terms of wifi, gps, phone signal and speaker

The dead pixels are somethings u really have to look for on a black background. You may have them but not even notice. About the speaker-> listen to something like Sun Is Up by Inna and you'll see how it clips. And I might have been wrong with oled or lcd... mine is TFT(Gen 2){Just saw that on the net}.

I have to agree that this phone is value for money! Overheating while charging is not much of a problem, but it`s fact. The only thing that I think the phone lacks is battery life, its poor while playing games or browsing /especially on 3G/. I`ve seen worst 3.2px cameras, so I think its barable (Using Camera 360 improves picture quality for me). As a whole, its a great phone for a great price!

I liked this phone so much when I got it that I'm now stuck with 3 of them. Blade was my first Android phone and while it was a cheap one, it was still better than any of the Nokia phones I had previously owned. Like many have mentioned, it does lack in some fronts, camera is just utterly horrible, pretty much the only thing it's good for is barcode scanning, so if you want to take decent (or even good photos), better grab a real camera with you. The speaker in Blade is INCREDIBLY good! It's the best I've heard so far and I've had way more expensive phones.

The problem with that is those two phones are much worse than the Blade. Especially the U8160, they are terrible.
You have to spend double the Blade's price to get anything significantly better & you could easily pay 50% more for a worse phone.

I own the TL10 version. It's been a few days in my hands. I can confirm that LTE works in Singapore, Malaysia (just came back from there) and Japan (I remember reading somewhere that it's compatible with most European and Asian networks).
I decided to get the phone because I'm too worried about Note 4 battery life, Xperia Z3 being too small, unable to get the latest Pantech phones (A910 & A920) due to their recent bankruptcy which scared off my usual supplier and also the unavailability of Vibe Z2 Pro at the time. Those were the other phones I had considered before settling with Mate 7.
I'm pleased by its slim bezels and thinness. Impressed by its battery life, currently low battery after I pulled off the charger almost 48 hours ago, used it to call and text people, find my way to the airport using Google navigation, listened to music in flight, layover in Hong Kong, another flight to Tokyo, 2 hours transiting in Tokyo subways, then used it for browsing while I rested this whole day. Simply superb.
Issues I've noticed so far:
Unable to change launcher (can't remove Huawei launcher from default)
Navigation bar sometimes freezes, doesn't response, had to hide it and showed it again to make it work (hopefully just firmware issue).
Haven't found easy way to root it.

Thanks for giving your impressions of the device. Have you found it to be any more laggy/buggy than other Android devices that you've owned? Also, does your device say TD-LTE on the box or FDD-LTE?

On the box it only says "TD-LTE". Mine is the vmall.com 32GB gold version. Everything has been snappy. Only lag I notice is when pressing multi-task button, there's noticeable delay until the list of recent apps show up. Also, I notice navigation bar, toggles, settings, icons, pretty much all the UI aspects look like Android L, perhaps Huawei is already working on L and basing the Emotion 3.0 from L?

Exactly the same for me except I didn't know that Pantech brand.
Battery life is impressive. It's due to a good battery management. For example, Mate 7 notices you when Google Play services are running in background so you can stop the processes. There's also a "stamina" mode wich only enables phone calls and SMS. I got 2% drain in one whole day!
Yesterday my mate 7 became hot, I had to restart it because it was not responding anymore. It's my first problem with mate 7 since I have it. Anyway, I think that kind of problems are normal in every Android device. I'm also looking forward a root solution. Before, all my contacts were synchronized with Google but sadly it's not possible to keep it that way with EMUI. I had to import it (wich was very easy) to EMUI contacts manager.
I have some problems with special characters in french (like é, à, etc..) They are replaced with a chinese character.

We are not hiding anything from the xda community though.
We can offer you the code to root, however, during the last step and the most important step of recovery, it requires a Chinese software to proceed, of which it will be difficult for one to perform who cannot read Chinese.
If it is necessary, we can remotely root this device for you, and for our customers of course.

I'm currently learning chinese but I admit I can't understand by myself a root process. Anyway, I can follow a step by step guide. I found two differents ways to root on Baidu but in both, the comments suggest that it doesn't work, so I haven't tried
I unlocked successfully the bootloader. If you can share any link that can help me to root it, I'll be eternally grateful to you

Pulled the trigger.
So I bought this phone, about a week ago, unicom compatible version mt7-tl10. I had actually gone with the mx4 because i wanted a better camera while in china, was currently using my note 3. I returned the mx4 after a day..... it was more buggy than 1.5 used to be haha. Random gcm pushes not happening, app crashing etc, freezes, and battery drains. They will probably sort it out, but I wasn't willing to wait weeks as i needed a functional daily driver so I picked it up at beijing local department store, for 3650rmb, not a bad price compared to what amazon etc are charging.
So my first impressions of the phone, which came with the flip leather case, is that like the cliche marketing pics of the guy in the sand, it is a classy looking phone. The thin bezels are amazing, and it just feels a lot nicer in the hand than my note 3. Now On my note 3 I have a spigen case, so the flip is definitely a thinner device. Caseless it fits in my hands very well, I have large hands but by no means ogre fists and everything is very reachable. I have been partial to large devices, owning every iteration of the note, as well as the ridiculous asus fonepad lol.
Watching reviews i was worried about the Nit* level in screen brightness, but the screen is very clear and crisp, pretty good colour reproduction, definitely not the saturated intensity of a samsung amoled screen, but very nice to watch netflix etc on. It is very responsive and has glove mode in the options so when the temperature drops a bit more I will give that feature a try.
Battery life is insane. Note 3 is no slouch, but this has had days of 7 to 8 hours of screen on time for me, with csip calls, 8 email accounts, 3 on push, wechat, whatsapp, telegram, instagram and a bunch of other daily apps i use... was at 20% in the evening.
Call quality has been decent although i have only used voip programs to make calls, over vpn. I will note that the wifi connectivity is much more stable than my note 3. I get better signal consistently on wifi, which is nice, as I am dependant on it for the most part for internet connectivity, data rates on a pay as go plan in beijing are murder. That said, 3g, 4g, lte all work great and i get very good signal and asu rates on this phone. I know the radio's are optimized vs my NA note 3 but its nice to have consistent signal all over the city with such spotty coverage.
So from a hardware standpoint, this phone feels and works like a quality product, which is what I Think huawei was aiming for..
Now from a software standpoint.. emui is nice, but it's not quite there yet. Without root and xposed modules it's even more of an issue, as there are root fixes for lots of the problems I have experienced.
Starting with the positives, the overall experience has been fluid and smooth, I have not experienced any of the slowdowns mentioned, video playback is stutter free, memory speed seems up to par with decent load times . I do really like the huawei multi tasking implementation on this rom, as I tend to cut and paste and switch between browser and apps quite frequently. Some of the pro reviews complained about the battery consumption monitor... but I find it to be quite useful, allowing me to micro manage apps if I choose, you can always set it to ignore the app after the first warning. Now that said, you may run into issues with non default apps for things like email (i m currently trying out the boxer client). I was doing push tests as i had my note 3 to compare, on same wifi etc... and emails were not coming through... so what i found is, you have to go in and give third party apps from the google play store certain permissions, the ability to run after the screen is off, to startup when device starts up etc... its actually quite useful to have such easy controls for these things, but if you don't know about them... it created a giant headache for me trying to figure out why push wasn't coming through. I thought it was my install of google play services etc... not allowing GCM push's to arrive. nope, just battery and permission settings, once go through for one app, you can easily do it for all the apps you want. Battery life is amazing as a result, as things like yahoo weather and other apps i used to use, were just killing my battery... now on my note i have better battery stats, gsam, wakelock detector.. the whole enchilada in terms of utils for optimizing battery life because i have had problems, even resorted to watch dog combined with greenify, because the wakes that were hidden from all my utils. On my huawei, i dont have any of the tools, the permissions, battery drain detection seem to keep things in check, and google services etc isn;t draining either. I used to find on other non google play native roms, that play services would run amok with battery. So far so good.
The most annoying issue presently is the default app selection. On some apps it works bringing up selected apps that make sense, click a picture selection in whatsapp , brings up gallery as an option. Trying to set my profile pic in another app i use, brings up an array of random useless apps that do not really have anything to do with a picture selection. Now without root or Xposed you cannot change the default apps that come up.. so i m stuck with this bug. I tried a workaround by installing a bunch of file managers to see if they could randomly pop up in the list...only es fileexplorer did and not the right option for it of a standard file browse.
The other major thing i have experienced , and i think it just be me, or my device specifically is finger print accuracy.. now watching all the reviews it looked phenomenal... now maybe its because i have a case on, big fingers or something, but i can only get about 50% accuracy in unlocking my phone with it.. It might be a technique thing too, so I m putting the caveat there.
The other issue, which is one of the reasons I like android over IOS, is the app drawer. Again without root, i dont think I it comes up. Reading above someone has said that they could not get an app drawer to work..I have not tried to install nova as I want to wait until rooted to use it. I find it is easy to lose track of the apps you have with a whole mess of folders stashed away... I like very open pages, with a few widgets but it is hard to have that experience if you have a lot of apps. Now you can just shove all of them into a single folder but it takes 4 to 5 actions to get to the app you want, that is too much for me. I like 3 actions at most, with nova it was app drawer, scroll, click in, worst case. Now its swipe, search for folder, click folder, swipe, to correct folder page, if you have more than 6 apps in folder. Its not the end of the world, but being used to nova style, it shouldn't have to be this way either.
One thing about the notification bar that at first was annoying, until i had a aha moment where i realized it was much more clever than i thought. The notification pull down is actually subdivided into two hotzones. On the left is notifications when you pull down, and on the right is shortcuts to system things, like screen brightness, screenshot, data toggle etc. Now at first i thought i was just getting random selections, until i realized there are hotzones at the top for this.. Another aspect i like is the timeline esque notifications, that give you timestamps and a lot of access to actions like deleting emails, replying etc right from the notification bar as an option... saves a couple clicks so it s a nice touch.
Now another issue I have had is widget display... certain apps do not like to play nice with the grid and end up taking way to much room, and do not adjust properly. One app in particular is network signal info pro the 1x1 widgets take up double the space, and the larger ones block off the screen. On touchwiz i have no issues lining corner to corner with these widgets, so i know its emui in this case.
Overall I find this phone to be a good experience, as I mainly use email and webbrowsing for work, the mega screen on time, and large viewing space make this a pleasant experience. Everyone uses their device differently so I can't say if its a good fit for me... but vs my note three, one the few niggles get ironed out with updates It will remain my daily device for the forseeable future... and for the price vs the note4 or edge...(although the cool factor of the edge is hard to resist) the battery life and screen size are hard to pass up... granted note 4 has higher res..but that just kills battery life, and the ppi is good enough for my purposes, i dont really notice the difference unless i look really closely..but if you have a six inch phone, that is the beauty, you dont have to face hug it to see things.
As for other comparitives, i played around with all the other devices listed... the lenovo Z2 pro.. while having an amazing screen and battery as well, and a ridiculously good camera comparitively, the software experience just wasnt there yet, and having used a k900 before, i wasn't optimistic that lenovo's software team is there yet... by next year they will be a major player i m sure, but it will take 6 to 8 months before that new resource and developer allocation makes a dent in user experience. As i said the mx4 was one of the worst software experiences i have had, now, to be fair it was not and international version, so maybe that one plays nice with google services...but mine certainly didnt. Looked at xiaomi... the mi4 is just too small for me, and battery life is a bit suspect, although miui is polished and updated frequently, it feels like all my data is being downloaded to the central servers.. haha, huawei may not be much better, but from my network tests watching wifi traffic, there isn't to many suspicious calls home. ZTE again, software was a bit laggy, same with their luxury brand, nubia... the oneplus and find7 were here, but oppo s marketing strategy lost me.. and comparitively they just dont look as nice as the huawei does... Now its funny because in china huawei has a bad rep as a cheapo garbage phone, with iphone, samsung, sony and xiaomi taking the prestige roles.. but this device has got some looks and questions as to what it is.. and wow really, a huawei lol.

No problem, just wanted to get it all down so people know what they re in for. I am fortunate in that i have a pretty lax expenditure account in terms of tech upgrades, so if I make a bad choice on a phone, i only have a to put up with it for a few months. But most have to survive at least a year with their device, and I find on a stressful day its the little things, like an email app crashing, or keyboard not responding lol that make the difference between a good and bad day.
I will add that if you don't read pinyin (i dont) you may have to do some guess and test exploration with the themes etc.. the keyboard is their own version or licensed not sure which, of swype that comes with some very asian themes to choose from the store. The theme store is in pinyin for phone themes but its pretty straight forward to figure out, by seeing the pictures and applying them.
I cant stress how much i love the battery life, it might be an ocd issue for me haha, but i always worry about phone dying. I have the Xiaomi 10000mah battery and the anker 12000 mah battery, but i dont need to pocket them anymore... so far today 96% battery with 45 mins of screen time (all my morning emails) and an ZRTP voip call (encryption usually works battery harder) for 30mins... pretty happy about that.

As i myself cant still decide whether to get the am7 or lenovo vibe z2 pro, and since you mentioned lenovo vibe z2 pro as one you compared the am7 against, may i ask a question. Have you had an ample time to play with the z2 pro to say that the sw experience is lacking?

Bevor I got me a Ascend Mate 7 I had a LG G3. On my trip to China I wanted to buy my a new phone.
I watched for many different phones (Meizu mx4, Xiaomi Mi4, Oppo Find 7, Lenovo vibe z2 pro and the Mate 7).
Many of them I did not buy because they have no LTE working outside of Europe.... or the lack of quality (Meizu was baaaad).
At the end there was only the z2 pro and the Mate 7 in the ring.
I decided against the z2 pro because I would have not a bigger screen then in the LG G3.... and the Mate 7 look&feel was much better.

I am a very new owner of Mate 7 Gold MT7-TL10. Have received my device this morning from getmobilephone (xda forum member). Experience with getmobilephone was simply the best experience i have ever had when getting something online. Really recommended!
First impressions are very positive. Build quality is extraordinary. Screen is better than expected. Phone already has factory installed screen protection on it + nice protective case for the phone.
Before purchasing, was hesitating between Note4, lenovo z2 pro and mate7. I believe that Huawei build quality really beats samsung devices. Mate 7 looks and feels like a high quality product.
No problems with 3G or 4G connections in Belgium (and probably in the most rest of Europe).
Phone is fast and responsive. At the moment feels faster than Note3 or Samsung S5.
So far I cannot comment a lot more about other features, as i would need to use this phone for few days first.

I'm also from Belgium and i wish to buy the Mate 7. I prefer the Black One with 3 Go of Ram but no info about this configuration !
The Gold is too much 'bling bling' for me Do you know if the Black with 3 Go of ram come one day ?
Have you photos of your phone and the case inside ? How many time for full charge when the battery is low like 10% ? How many time for receipt your phone in Belgium ?
Have fun with your wonderfull phone !!!
P.S. : Now i use the Note 3 with 3 Go of ram but i'm afraid that mate 7 have not the same power than the Note 3 ( sorry for my english). And how is the lisibility outside and under the sun because the Super Amoled from Samsung is wonderfull !

Regarding the battery it charges fast. I have tried to charge from 10% today to full. It took 2.5 hours (approx 150 minutes). But keep in mind that it has this large battery. And at least up to 60% was charging 1% every minute! Maybe other users can be more precise here, as i didn't check when charging slows down.
Regarding Gold version. As far i as know, only gold has 3GB RAM and 32GB internal. Black an silver have lower specs 2GB/16GB.
Reception of the signal is better than my other devices, Note 2 or Note 3.

I am also in Belgium and i am using the mate 7 32gb 3gb for 1 week now. Excellent phone, very fast, really nothing to say except that as it is a chinese version, i am having chinese writings depsite putting it in english. I am awaiting promptly for a custom rom
4g is working properly here, screen quality is amazing, battery is great, sound quality is excellent ... The only bad idea was from huawei to have put 2 sim cards in 2 different formats. One in Micro sim and one nano Very annoying but honestly, this phone is almost "perfect".

Huawei just tweeted that they have sold 1 million mate 7 in only 1 month. That is only accounting most sales from china (coz the device is not yet available in many markets).
I am hoping that with many people buying mate 7, it will spur development of custom rom for this device.

Hows your Moto X holding up?

Just curious how everyone is enjoying their Moto X Pure Editions since they've been out for a little over a year now. I've left mine stock the entire time I've had it which is something new for me. As far as the phone itself is concerned I really like it. Love the screen, the size, shape, etc. However, really looking to get something else or rooting as I've had a ton of software issues. Apps not responding the way they should or crashing repeatedly . This is the first phone I've had that's actually acted this way so kind of turned off by it.

Stock here, 11 months of use, 2 updates (5 to 6.0 and the last security update) never a issue.
Just one time, the screen shows a rare horizontal lines, 1 reboot and back to normal.
The heat you ask? Yes, in chrome and YouTube, the heat is an "add on" not specified in the manual...

Screen cracked on first one and had to play endless games with the repair department, including reporting fraud on my credit card. Both speaker grills are working on their second time falling out. Screen and glass coating are better than average on the replacement. I like the LTE bands, high res screen, and the ability to use a big microSD card. The lack of software support is the worst I've seen of an OEM phone. I had to switch to CM13 but there's nobody there who can completely fix the drivers - VoLTE breakup, proximity sensor bugs, speaker fade-out bug, no WiFi calling, poor low light camera performance, etc. I don't see myself trusting Lenovo again for many years to come.

Stock Style
Kept it still in stock. No major issues. Been using the phone with the stock Moto Screen cover plastic still in place (all moto phone have nice plastic screen guard which I never peel. Use it heavily for 3-4 days post unboxing and remove the logo, which has now dried due to screen heat, with a coin). Waiting with finger crossed for Andorid 7.
Camera app and camera as hardware was real disappointment. unlike G4 plus camera app, this phone camera app is very basic in nature. Also the camera is not comparable with other phone's of this budget. Otherwise this was an awesome deal.

Much the same experience for me. Very happy with the phone for the price (I paid UK £300 in December 2015). Still amazed at the sound quality from the speakers. Fast charging too.
I also had the horizontal lines problem about a month ago - thought the phone had died but a reboot solved it. Has only happened once.
Issues ? For me :
would like wireless charging
wish Lenovo were better with updates
maybe a bit too big - but that's my problem , not the phone's - I wanted a big display.

Bought it approx. 2 months ago (15th July, 2016) and really enjoying it all over except the display, my display is bit warmish when compared to other phone and also has a slight bleeding in left corner. I wish it had AMOLED display as the previous series. Camera gives really good pics so happy with it. Would like to know if anyone else has the same display concern as mine.

Stock rooted EU Style at 6.0.1 - so far there are no issues with the phone

Picked it up on the Prime Day sale.
It does the job and is better than my previous phone, a Nexus 4.
Minor gripes. If it gets the update to Nougat I'll be happy with what I paid for it.

The camera takes OK pictures, the battery rarely provides more than 2.5 hours SOT, and from what I can tell every custom ROM for this phone blows chunks (I've tried all the popular ones, but the CM base sucks). I've had sporadic issues with cell service, which I believe are software related, and to top it off, my phone somehow nuked itself while I was on vacation in June (I was able to get it back but I lost a bunch of stuff and had to re-setup my phone while on vacation)
I was at Disney world all day, battery died about an hour before I left the park. I got in the car, plugged it into the car charger, and while it was coming up to the battery screen it went haywire and rebooted. Then the charging screen came up and I shrugged it off. About 30 minutes later I tried to turn it back on, and it just bootlooped endlessly. So I had to pull out my laptop, use the slow hotel wifi and download the firmware, then use fastboot to re-flash everything. Luckily I use Google photos to back up pics, so I didn't lose any of the vacation photos.
For the first time in years I'm considering an iPhone. Never had to deal with this kind of crap with my old iPhone 5.

Love my Style, changed 2 screens on it, been stock since I purchased it brand new, not through choice, can't root this phone at all, I've tried every combination possible but the remote server times out requesting the token I'd so I've given up any hope of rooting it.
Apart from that the phone has been flawless, the odd heating up with certain apps which I can put up with.
Not really impressed with the way Moto/Lenovo have treated this supposed flagship in terms of updates and still no solid word from the company if our device will get nougat. It probably will get it but I would have bought a pixel xl by then.

No major issues really (bar the obvious update void). Still love the fact that the phone is smaller than my friend's iphone 6 plus, yet the screen is larger.
First phone I've ever owned that still does not have a single scratch on the screen even though it has been naked since day one, got the phone October 17th. In fact there are very few marks on the phone overall and I've dropped it from knee height onto the road a couple of times.
I often think about wanting a new phone (only because I have G.A.S (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) but then I realise that anything I get won't really do anything that this one doesn't already do.

I bought the Style with extreme enthusiasm since it ran "stock" android and had an SDcard slot. My initial impressions were hopeful... it was a little laggy but other than that, it was okay, and the speakers, OH GOD the speakers. But after a month or two of using it and unlocking the bootloader, it was obvious that there were some serious issues with the phone. Lenovo/Motorola obviously didn't know what they were doing when they made the stock ROM for the device. It was always laggy for me and there were other issues as well. After tons of attempts to find an AOSP or stock rom that fixed these issues... i gave up. I just accepted that TruPureX was the best i was going to get. It made me miss my LG G2 and HTC M8. Anyways after a little under a year i did a lot of thinking and eventually made the decision that i was tired of feeling the need to flash custom firmwares, bootloaders, recoveries, etc. just to get my phone to function in the manner that I feel it should. I ended up buying a (very expensive) iPhone 6S Plus. I understand that people will most likely bash this decision and i respect your views, so respect mine. I still believe android as an OS is superior, but the OEMs just can't properly implement it into their devices in the way that Apple can. I don't regret my decision and now i have amazing battery life and everything "just works". Which isn't something i've been able to say about an android phone. I'm not advising anyone to do what i did, i respect all technology as well as your views, i'm just sharing my experience. Owning this phone annoyed my so much i switched sides (at least for a while).

Sounds like we have similar experiences. I've never owned an Iphone but have had multiple Ipods and Ipads. I think I've grown out of the flashing game myself. I look at all the roms available for the Pure and I'm just not impressed at all. I've come from a long line of Android devices that have all had excellent development and this one has been a bust. I have also been thinking about going with an Iphone but I'm pretty terrified of getting away from the Android environment lol. I'm just to a point in my life where I want my phone to function flawlessly the majority of the time. I wasn't impressed at all with my Galaxy S5 so that's kind of turned me away from Samsung in general. I really liked my HTC devices so I may give them another look in the near future if I don't end up giving Apple the go ahead.

Yes our experiences are indeed very similar. The phone i was most impressed with was my HTC M8. The battery life that it gave with the "small" battery was amazing at that time, but my 6S+ has a similar battery, bigger screen and more powerful processor and it somehow manages to demolish the M8s battery life. I find it extremely impressive. I'm a college student and i just decided i didn't have the time to keep flashing things, etc. The only thing that i hate about iOS is the fact that you have no access to the file system. I may jailbreak and fix some things but for now i'm trying it unmodified. At least on ios you're guaranteed good software support for a good while.

This. Exactly this.

A couple of white spots on my LCD. Not a huge deal.
LCD cracked- without cracking the glass, which is a first for me.
It took a ton of work to get the battery where I needed it.
Development is dildos. ONE (brilliant) stock rom, and its developer left. All the AOSP roms have issues.
I can't believe with only 3 unlocked phones on Verizon, we don't have an abundant choice of roms. Ridiculous.

Had mine since Christmas eve. I replaced the battery thinking it was dying, turns out I just use a lot of battery-consuming apps. Aside from that, hardware has been top-knotch. No issues with software (still running Lolipop), but I rooted the day I got it and disabled updates because I heard the MM update was having tons of issues and causing pops in the speakers and battery drains, etc. and never got around to going MM.
Convinced 2 friends to get Moto X pures as well, and they both love it.

I've had the Pure since November 2015: rooted and spent most of the time on stock. Right now, I'm running Dirty Unicorns 10.6 official, which has the September 2016 update. My overall impression is: 5.5 out of 10 (10 being the best). It's a decent, middle-of-the-road phone.

So-so battery life. My LG G3 lasted about 48 hours after full charge. My MXP lasts about 18 hours.

Mediocre level of enthusiasm about the phone, i.e., it took a long time to get decent cases/screen protectors, ROM development is OK but there are more devs for other phones
Lack of Android updates from Motorola. (I prefer stock due to stability and battery life.)
Heavier than a comparable Samsung Galaxy phone for it's size.
No "wow" feature to the phone: everything is just meh.

why is it nobody mentioned about its ram.. ram management on mm is so poor. i get 600 to 800 sometimes 500 ram free with no other apps installed. pure stock no root.vthats why its so laggy at times... bought it last month for $260 with 32gb on best buy.. i thought it was a deal but cant help notice the lag sometimes. i have a lg g pro 2 3 gb ram with snapdragon 800 on 2014 model... i get 1500 free ram so why is moto x pure on 2015 model only gets 600 to 800 free ram with 3gb phone. will motorola lenovo can still fix this great phone ?

After loving my Moto X and Moto X 2014, I gave the Moto X 2015 a try. On stock It lags a good amount, battery life is below average, sound is loud but quality is bad, also when I receive notifications the sound lags in the middle of it, and the phone ran extremely hot just using social apps or playing light games.
CM13 was the only rom to bring this phone back to life for me. I underclocked the cpu and gpu because of heat and battery power increased dramatically. Notification sounds sound normal and even when underclocked, the phone is still snappy on CM13.
My gf have a Samsung Galaxy s6 with apps I use plus more and her phone didn't nearly get as hot as mines with also better battery life than I was on stock.

i have my nexus 6 for quite some time now , but still i love it, but i feel like i need to upgrade , im not a heavy user , not really into photography, just need a daily driver that just works everytime and feel good to the hand , and a good finger print scaner as i ve never used one before , but seen some on cheap phones that work really bad .

I also recently upgrade from my OnePlus One to Mi A1 2 days ago. I also don't game much, and currently I am very happy with it. (Or should I say the Pro's more than it's Cons)
The most important thing you need to be wary of is the 3.5mm jack. If you use 3.5mm jack a lot, I suggest you go for their official earphones or you use those big headphones. Otherwise you will be pretty much stuck with the "hissing sound" that produce by it. Currently it pairs with my In Ear Pro HD, and very satisfied with it.
Other than that no major problems with it. Although it lacks NFC and EIS/OIS is a huge bummer. But overall it's a great device all around.

i dont really use the headphones, very rarely , i read about the hissing issue but not a big deal to me , as for nfc never used it , only thing im concerned is the build quality ,battery life and system updates ,things that i loved on my nexus 6 , as i've never seen the phone in real life , i dont know how it will feel in my hand , and the metal of the phone is it any good ? does it feel cheap ?

About those 3 points you mentioned. Then it's the perfect device for you. And nope it doesn't feel cheap at all, feels solid and premium (although not made of out glass, probably I am coming from all plasticity device? lol). It's like holding a iPhone 7 in your hand tbh. If no one pay attention what phone are you holding, they shud probably guess it's a iPhone 7. Very similar design. Well battery life is very good, I have it for 2 days and the factory charge still not finish yet (got around 70% out of the box now sitting at 35%). Well about system updates, as expected from Google device. So yeah

I couldn't agree more! I am using a flipkart smartbuy rubber cover along with it and it covers up the xiaomi branding at the back and has no branding of its own.. So a couple of people at my office who saw the phone from the back asked if its iphone 7+!! Even otherwise the in hand feel, the audio quality and the potrait mode in camera are the best i have seen in a phone for a while!
And about the issues, the hissing sound issue does not exist for me.. So you might not even have it.. The lack of stabalization is a bummer but can be enabled with root access, though i wish xiaomi provides an update to enable it natively.

Currently doing the same thing you do. I am still using my Nexus 6, but the battery is slowly dying - so it wasn't actually choice. I think the A1 is a very good, and also cheap choice. If you are not into photography, though, consider a Redmi Note 4 (the 4GB RAM / 64GB HD version). The Redmi Note 4 is identical (hardware-wise) to the A1 in all aspects but the camera (worse) and the battery (better / bigger), and it is available even cheaper (60€ for me, but I am actually into photography).

Can you make a mini review between nexus 6 and mi a1 (pros, cons) after a couple of days ?! Thx

hi, I just got the opportunity to update my G6 software to V11g. I know that it has come earlier in other European countries. Are there any opinions about the new version of the software?

I haven't really noticed any difference.

It is good when it is not whorst than before at least they do not broke anything. How long are you using V11g version?

+1. Camera seems faster and crisper. Worth the update.
Haven't seen the battery improvement though.

Norway here. Got it a few days ago, although I check manually as a developer. No difference noticed. Haven't tested the camera improvements, if noticeable. The software is stable and no reason to not upgrade, in fact you should of course as it's an Android security patch update.
Kind of hoping this includes some under the hood stuff that'll makes it more ready for Oreo. The fact that they've held it back at 7.0 made me think they worked on Oreo as fast as possible.
My Galaxy S II has 7.1.2 LOL... LineageOS. As a developer there are of course some news in the APIs in 7.1 and 7.1.2 I wouldn't mind being able to test on a physical device, but really nothing that the emulator doesn't do as it's just software changes for my apps.
Since LG manufactures the Pixel 2 it would be nice if just Google gave them right to use that software minus the stuff only the Pixel can do. The software on the LG G6 is very stock anyway. It's the only non-Google phone I've had where all the extra settings, which are not many and don't bloat the device, are actually useful and some very nice to have over stock AOSP. Kind of LineageOS. Some LG apps I don't use, but they can be disabled. Otherwise I actually use the stock phone/contacts app (same app), SMS/MMS app and Calendar app. They're just fine. Was kind of surprised when I found out one can change the location of the floating action button by holding and moving. It was at the center which is not standard behaviour. To the right it goes and it positions perfectly at the right place according to Material guidelines.
This is my first post here, and the first time I've bought a non-Google device, as it was affordable and got good reviews like the newer V30 IIRC the name. My Nexus 5 died although it was still under the 5 year warranty by law in Norway as long as it's not your fault and then they have to prove the failure is really your fault. A humidity sensor far away from the Wi-Fi chip going off isn't enough. Then they must prove that changing that part fixes the Wi-Fi. Anyway my Nexus 5 got the infamous Wi-Fi chip bug where the chip loses physical connections to the motherboard. Managed to fix it with various recipes here, from physicial pressure with tape to oven baking. But last oven baking killed it after it had worked several days (and I tried again). I'm living in Spain, had to go back to Norway before mid November to claim 5 year warranty, but didn't have that patience. As people today are so stupid and buys ever increasing costly phones, while prices for components of course goes down as the technology inside today really are small increments. Profit. People thinking the more expensive the more status basically. I'm sad Android OEMs have jumped on the iPhone price range but understandable from OEMs standpoint if they sell. Anyway with Nova Launcher and emulators I can test the important new stuff in Oreo (API 26 and 27).
Hope LG keeps delivering phones at a reasonable price as we had Android flagships before, and with much less bloat than Samsung for instance, we just need Oreo. AFAIK LG has promised 2 major updates for 2017 flagships, so at least Android 9. Correct me if I'm wrong. After that it'll be LineageOS, and then I assume there's a good camera substitution. I don't throw away perfectly working phones. Great camera (iPhone 6-7 friends jealous at least), water proofed, good battery life, expandable storage, headphone jack, great fast charging that surprises me still (although I still miss my wireless charging and my luxury charger is collecting dust after my Nexus 5 died), etc. Bought this autumn I'll have warranty until 2021, so if it stops working I'll just go to any store in Norway selling LG phones, and meanwhile they'll have to give you a similar good phone. If they can't repair it (for example lack of parts being old) and can't prove it's your fault, your warranty right is a new phone being just as good that year, say 2020, like the LG G6 was. Would mean an LG flagship for free that year usually, you usually get a choice though, but it must be as good, that years early flagship from some Android OEM. Like an "LG G9" or whatever. I won't try to fix this myself. Just use my backup phones meanwhile, although old, runs LineageOS pretty well, actually better than stock. Got the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and LG Nexus 4 still. My 5 got fried as said.
What I miss from my Nexus 5 is really wireless charging. Bought a luxury charger. So convenient. Where I naturally put my phone down I'm used to put it in the charger right there. The going away from wireless charging was a true surprise... But now that iPhone has it, even the standard (yeah wow, but not a fast charger in the box, that's an LOL!), it'll be in new Android flagships released in 2018 and forward for sure. So convenient it'll be when all places like airports, coffee shops etc all have charging pads at your table. Most pads are really cheap and surely will be getting cheaper, probably many non-OEMs producing a ton right now "compatible with the iPhone 8" but it'll work for everyone.
I wish all EU/EEA countries would adopt Norway's warranty ("reklamasjonsrett") with 5 years for all consumer good from sofas to phones. There's a 2 year warranty for batteries, but when the battery is built-in and you can not change the battery yourself without breaking the manufacturers warranty, the Norwegian law again trumps the manufacturer's and the 5 year warranty kicks in (just did it with my GFs Garmin Watch, didn't even have to pay for transport, which is usual, about 4 USD, because it had to be sent another country, so she got a completely new device, but everything synced to the cloud so setup back to the old one was a sync away, and it was clearly a battery failure as it worked perfectly when plugged in and died immediately when disconnected), because then it's a part of the device. The manufacturer's warranty only counts for the things they offer that are better than the Norwegian one, which usually are none. Sometimes it can be, like iPhone users buying extra warranty, but the 5 year general warranty still counts regarding general failure of the device.
To h*** with planned obsolescence. We even see it here. Working at the country's IT agency we see many devices fail just after or just before 5 years (that accurate they can't always be). But a company, everything from a one man company to a big company, only gets the standard manufacturer's warranty, but as a small country the devices are the same, for consumers and companies (designed for the Norwegian market because of our warranty), except products sold only to companies. So it's weird to see printers fail JUST after 5 years, googling it and seeing people from the US have the same device fail after 1-2 years and EU like the UK users having the device fail after 2 years. We're talking thousands of devices, as I developed the inventory system for Norway's IT agency, and I see a clear pattern. It's no anecdote.

I didnt notice not very big difference ...
But... One of the major things im noticed.... Its seems like lg has improved the cpu/gpu governors ... The whole phone is now aboslutely fluid ....and also its using more than before deepsleep... No battery/performance mods installed, only magisk and some minor tweaks like youtube vanced and viper + dual speaker mod... Even with around 80 apps its not laggy ... Scrolling now is also more fluid... so ... The update is in my opinion must have.... :laugh:

So scrolling is better now? Is that possible?

Phone was fluid even before the update.
Biggest thing i noticed is that the battery life is improved ?

oh the placebo effect in this thread..

For me it is not that fluid when scrolling in apps like Instagram, Facebook etc.

Funny, in the Mideast region the 11g update improved battery life.
From unplugging when leaving the house , after 9 hours of light use at work usually have 80% battery left.

This is my first android phone and I am using it out of box (nothing installed to improve phone performance) I got the feeling that the battery is little bit better and phone is little bit "more fluid".

You need root browser to install ...
Just backup the original mixer_paths_tasha.xml from system/etc and then copy and paste the new file in system/etc
