I intend to root my device after it's fixed, however with my model it was patched on a later firmware. I'm on the correct firmware now but it wants me to update. Has anyone ever got their device back from repair with a later firmware?

I have an Omnia 7 and have the issues that have been discussed on this forum, Voicemail doesn't save, calls get dropped etc.
I got impatient and walshed my phone to 7390 hoping this may solve the issues but no luck, I have also applied walsh's fix to get me back on the supported update path.
I have a few questions before I proceed to flash the firmware for my phone.
Will my firmware get updated automatically anyway?
My phone is currently branded for T-Mobile UK, are the roms on samfirmware.com unbranded?
My phone has been network unlocked by a code, NOT the Cheveron tool, will this unlock stay with the phone if I flash the firmware?
If the roms are not unbranded or for T-Mobile UK what are the downsides and side effects to going ahead with the firmware flash?
Many thanks for your input, eitherway I think I will be waiting untill Tuesday to see if I get the 7392 update and check if that has updated my firmware first before I do flash my phone.
My current firmware info:-
PDA----------I8700XXJJ4
Phone--------I8700XXJJ3
CSC----------I8700TMUJJ4
Bootloader---4.10.1.2
As usual since I'm on a factory unlocked S5 I have no access to OTA updates and the Samsung update software is worthless acting like no updates ever. Anyhow, I can't find anyone posting the stock 6.0 file to sideload or Odin. Would someone mind directing me to one or link one? Decided to go with it since ATT released it a week ago according to the change log on August 26th.
I am curious if there is a way to update the stock firmware on my V20. I have had this phone since the week it came out and I have never received any updates. My software version is H91010c and I know they are on H91010q. AT&T of course can't figure out why. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same issue.
Need some serious help
I know it isn't ideal but you can always root and flash the updated firmware. If you don't want to stay rooted, just flash the back to stock zip.
If you are on 10c as well, it would be nice to have a dump of that before you upgrade if you decide to go that route

Before I send it to Samsung to repaired my S8+, the phone has the unlock version g955u1, but when I got it back, it is g955u with tmobile on it. Is it possible to change it back ? I have android 8.0 right now with January 2018 security patch. Most of the firmware I found are 7.0. I am new to android I might need some extra help here.
I believe you should be able to flash Nougut fw with odin (not 100% sure but should be able to) . Just make sure that the bootloader versions are the same.
Nevermind, I miss understood your question. You'll have to wait until the oreo fw is released before you can change from u to u1 or vise versa
Trying to repair my phone to stock firmware after a bad root. All I can find for firmware versions are sketchy sites that don't seem safe. Has anyone ever had Sprint provide firmware on request or is there any specific site that is safe to get firmware from?
