Hello,
Anyone knows how to properly use the USB port to connect to a car HU to play songs?
When i connect the cable between the HU to the phone, the USB notification doesn't list audio source as an option.
Tried using the developer option, Select USB Configuration option to audio source but no luck in getting audio playing with it as the option would reset to MTP.
Anyone has any ideas?
Thank you.

I have an alpine deck with a usb input and when I use a data stick or my phone which is a Samsung Vibrant it conencts and I can search my files and play my music. When i hook up my galaxy tab it says its connected on the tablet to the usb but on by deck it says no usb device connected. Does anyone have any suggestions or anything for me?
In the wireless and network settings / usb settings maybe you have to select usb mass storage.
This a rather specific issue, but none of the forums for my car were able to give me an answer. I drive a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS.
So I just recently switched from iPhone to Android, and I have been having a **** of a time getting the phone to connect to the car via the USB port in my 2013 GLS. With my iPhone, it was as simple as plug n play...not so much with the Android (it's a Verizon LG G2, for what it's worth), as every time I plug in the USB cable, I get "Connection Error" on the screen, and then it just switches back to whatever audio mode I was in before.
I know the USB port actually says "iPod" underneath it specifically, but the owner's manual vaguely hints at a universal USB music mode...I've gone through the menus and tinkered with some of the options, but am unable to find a solution. I really do not want to use Bluetooth. I will buy a car charger and aux cable and just have two connections if need be, but I gotta believe there's a way to have a non-iOS device hooked up through the USB port and be able to play music through it. I don't even need metadata to show up on the screen, just a simple connection would do it!
I am running AOKP 4.4.2. This issue persists even with MTP USB mode activated.
I recently got a new portable dac/headphone amplifier (Sony PHA-3) and can't seem to get it to work with my OPT. I run the OEM usb-c to usb-a cable to the input of the PHA-3 but sound keeps coming through the speaker at the bottom of the phone.
Developer option to disable usb audio routing is OFF, and even if I try to toggle the usb configuration to "audio source" I still don't get any sound (though sound stops playing through the speaker).
Using resurrection remix v6.0.1_r52-MOB30R.
So far I have been unable to locate any sort of usb otg settings to enable if that makes any difference...
Also, when using the app USB Audio Player Pro I get an initialization failure, so maybe it's something the ROM just doesn't support?

More likely the kernel that must support or at least have drivers for the DAC device built-in, in normal Linux you would type dmesg to see what gets detected and make sure the proper module gets inserted for device support, but this is Android so no such thing. Maybe you could check with Boeffla to see if he knows how to include this?
Same issue here. Looks like OP2 don't support external USB DAC.
does the phone have usb audio
i have selected audio via developer mode...
using a htc usb-c dongle adaptor
and rebooted phone but no joy
sounds still comes from phone
thanks
Hi All,

There are some USB settings in Developer Options that you might need to configure.
Sure, I enabled and made usb debugging. Also enabled other usb settings like usb audio enable but no luck

I have the same problem, and it's driving me insane!
HU doesn't recognise my phone when I plug it in via USB. it only charges my phone. I've changed USB modes and enabled debugging but no success.
In 8888 menu / others - check usb version.

I finally got mine to work. it turns out the port on my phone was dirty. so after cleaning it out thoroughly with alcohol wipes and contact cleaner with a thin safety pin straightened out and bent into a U shape, I plugged it in and voila... notification pops up saying device connected
on my device, it was necessary to activate the Welink option in the Factory Settings Menu, to reactivate the usb ports
