Are you wanting to root it or just upgrade the firmware? Have you ever used Odin?
Try connecting to kies if you just want to upgrade firmware.

I:silly:'ve only done that stuff on my old iPhone, but when i switched to android it was like coming from north korea to china. Its just so much freedom I've never experienced before and i'm super happy i'm here( china i guess) but i couldn't imagine what america freedom feels like...and i'm guessing having it rooted and flashing custom Kernel would be like coming to america. I doubt ill ever get around to using those things to there full potential, so i guess ill just upgrade the firmware... unless you have movies or stories of the freedom im missing i doubt ill venture out to go find it. thank you for your info and looking forward to your reply

No custom kernel for us. We have a locked bootloader. We do have custom Roms. I would root but that is just me. I dislike all the bloatware if nothing else. You don't have to use your phone any differently but you never know when you will come across a great app or something and it requires root.
You are on the right firmware for root. Install towelroot, make it rain, download SuperSU from the playstore, install and update the binaries (it will ask you to) choose the normal method. Reboot your phone and you are rooted. I would go a step further and download busybox from the play store, install the app then install busybox, then install safestrap which is our custom recovery.
You can still just run a stock ROM if you wish but you now have the ability to change your phone to a certain degree. At least get rid of some bloatware. Otherwise, I'd try kies first and see if it will update your phone.

no custom Rom for M9+ plus ?

i actually tried to find it under m9 developers section but there is nothing so i guess the only place for M9+ is (m9+ general ) but there is nothing here i could find so if there is really no custom rom for M9+ so why i need to unlock the boot loader (which i did) or root the device ?
no one knows ?!!
I guess it is just bit too early for having a lot of options. There is one custom ROM atm that is in fact just a crutch for those who have imported phone with no support for EU languages.
Unlocking and rooting has nothing to do with it... especialy rooting...
But for example I had to get S-OFF to change the internal CID identification so that the phone things it was made for EU and download EU based OTA updates. And for S-OFF you need to unlock and root the device first anyway.
Maybe it is just because all the people are waiting for Marshmallow update and they are generaly satisfied by HTC software?

We have CleanSlate
Apart from CleanSlate which is an improvement, we don't have anything else like AOSP which would be a good framework for further development. Hopefully some devs will pick up our phone.
CM13 is supported on the M8 and M9 so it may be possible to port it to ours in the future

I rooted ZTE Blade V6 - no mixer_paths.xml

Hi! I finally rooted my ZTE Blade V6 - it is my "second phone"
The main reason I rooted it (and it took a long time to find out that only kingroot 4.8.0 can do the job) but I still can't find a way to turn the headphone volume up.
It is rooted, root checker, ES Explorer - all say that it is rooted. I can go to SYSTEM/ETC/... and change files but at the moment it doesn't help me.
In this or any other folder there is no mixer_paths.xml. There must be another file that checks the volume for the headphone.
I searched the complete phone - there isnt such a mixer_paths file.
How can I boost the volume (headphone)?
I am sure it is possible somehow.
I have the 5.0.2 firmware. If anybody knows another file, please tell me. I don't want to use a file that puts the EQ on 10 - I want it louder, the usual way.
I am happy about every help!
Thanks a lot,
lienot
Rooted ZTE Blade V6 - headphone not loud enough - no default_gain or mixers_path file
PS: I thought I wrote in the wrong forum, but here it is perhaps better described...
Hi!
As I wrote in the subject I finally have my Blade V6 rooted (it finally worked with KINGROOT Version 4.8.0 - the right version was important).
It has got the 5.0.2 android on it. When I go to the root folder I have the system/etc folders but there is no default_gain.conf or a mixers_path.xml file. I tried to look at as many files that could have something to do with audio, but there is no file where I can see a number to change or even something near.
It must be somewhere, perhaps it is on most ZTE phones the same but until now I can't do anything. If anyone has got another ZTE and changed the Headphone volume it could be important, too!!
It would be really really important to have the right file that I can change. Someone has changed the volume on any ZTE or am I wrong?
If anyone knows anything about the volume / headphone etc... on the ZTE please tell me. I need a phone for outside an my Galaxy S7E is to expensive, when I am out in the green the ZTE is just the right Smartphone. BTW I have got the Dual SIM / 1 SIM + 1 SD version. For the price it is a nice phone, a good apple look-a-like and if I get now the "fruits of rooting" it would be ideal. I haven't installed a recovery so far but if I just have to change one file it is not that important.
Thanks for any help...

Try with MTK engeenering mode... Check playstore for an app... But take care if you increase a lot you will get bad sound... Cheers...
Hi!
Thanks a lot! It's not that easy because you have a lot of things you can change but it worked! After playing a little bit around my headphone output is defintly louder!
I will try to find a better description of all the parameters I can change but for now I am really happy.
Habe a nice day,
Thanks again

Where did you find KingRoot 4.80? Can you give me a link?
Edit: nvm I found it, and it works. The only thing is that it uses KingRoot SuperUser no supersu.. How trustworthy is KingRoot? Is there a way to use supersu?

Does the YD-206 variant get the lollipop update natively?

With all the updating going on lately for the YotaPhone I am lost if the Chinese (YD-206) got the update? I mean without the hassle of trying to flash the RU version on it?
If not maybe could you help me find the cheapest YD-201 version? It's be greatly appreciated!
Also another question I had on my mind was how the performance is for simple VR games? I noticed it has Gyroscope and I wanted to use Riftcat and a leap motion to simulate a vive... Maybe use some freetrack with it to get some tracking so i can walk a little too! I don't wanna bore you all with the details but yeah do you guys think it can handle some of the games? I realize that riftcat just streams it from my PC but i'm not sure how intensive that is!
Thanks guys I appreciate it! Also if all works out and I get all that VR stuff going I'll keep you all updated! Again Thank You all so much

The Chinese version is unfortunately stuck on KitKat. Flashing to the RU firmware is not that hard and if it should fail you can always flash back to the Chinesae version.
Yes, I agree , it's easy , put handset in developer mode so your PC can talk to it, then install yotaflasher on the PC, 1 option to download your chosen firmware zip file then another option to flash your handset. If there is something wrong (normally adb drivers) you have not lost anything.
The problems will only start if it does not flash and you have to tinker.
But yes, I recommend that you try to update to the latest release.
Yes Yotaphone works very well with VR games, gets a little hot and uses battery , but so all handsets.
I think even if you buy the yd201 , you may not have an update selection, but I am not sure of this. They usually have a special modified retailer firmware with more languages and stopping updates. A few weeks ago when I ordered my yd206 there were plenty of international yd201s and even some white Yotaphone, but now there fewer.

I think I am convinced too take my chance with the YD-206 now, I was just a little skeptical since I saw some others on the forum having problems trying to get it too RU. But in one of the threads a saw a solution if I can't get it too work by doing it manually.

Need US and CE1 FTFs of Oreo (ideally 47.1.A.12.235) to be able to record again

I know I can use Bold Beast but my problem is that I use Tasker to hide the bin from Magisk from InTune. So everytime a call comes in - BoldBeast looks for the bin again and can't record unless I keep it unhidden. I keep it unhidden and InTune knows the device is rooted. Root is more important to me. Willing to downgrade to 8.0 but want to keep fingerprint working. Cannot find old FTFs anywhere - especially a US and CE1. Please help me out.,
Hello, did you have any luck? Am looking to roll back the update also, but no luck on finding instructions/files.
thank you,
K.
