G6 proximity sensor with Oreo - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hi ALL
I noticed that after OREO update when I want to hung up a call I see Notification Bar active (pulled down), so I need to pull it back up to press hung up button. This is really annoying because it happens during 70% of calls.
It looks like proximity sensor does not work correctly and I accidentally touch notification bar with my ear during a call.
I did a Factory Reset, it did not help. I did a downgrade to Android 7.0 and it helped and cured the issue!
Maybe this software glitch is related to GSMarena mentioned proximity sensor issue in their LG V30S review
Have anybody noticed that glitch with G6 and Oreo?
Thank you.
Nick
G6, H870, EU version.

I don't have this or any issues with my handheld.

After the update i noticed a problem with priority sensor too.
Sometime it keep turning off my screen when I working with my phone and it will fix when i restart the phone .... , Also I did a factory reset but problem didn't fixed

Same problem for past 2months.?
Infact i noticed sensor was On during the night also when AOD was off!

Screen going off during call or when call is over on G2 VS980

Hello, I have a problem with my LG G2 VS980 by verizon.
There are two problems depending on preloaded rom
1 The display shuts down immediately when call to someone. (after the conversation has will not turn on)
or
2 When someone call to me, after a conversation I can not unlock the screen (either the knock on, or by power button - appears on the screen and immediately turns off).
I've tested all the roms that are available. The one who runs without problem with the display there is a rom by HeatshiverSX - 4.3.1. The problem is that this rom has problem with the rotation of the screen.
Are you able to tell what's going on? Could someone help / advise? Thanks!
Anyone ?

Did you manage to solve it by now?
If not, it seems that @Bam9 manged to solve it by a firmware update as he reported here.
It seems that there are two similar issues in LG G2 which are both caused by the proximity sensor which causes screen and touch problems during conversations:
The screen stays on and the touch buttons in the dialer (speaker, add call, mute, etc...) aren't responsive.
(This issue was already reported by @athorax here)
The screen turn off and goes blank while in conversation.
(This issue was already reported by @madafis here)
In both of these situations the only quick way to end a call is to pull down the status and notifications bar and hang up from there.
Thanks to @Bam9 and @EtherBoo , who suggested to clear the proximity sensor from the outside and squeeze the top left corner of the phone, I tried to clean it and put some stress on it - and it worked!
I have a glass screen protector (which don't block the proximity sensor), and I am rooted and using CyanogenMod 11 ROM.
I used ioroot to root and AutoRec, which comes with TWRP 2.7.0.0, to install CyanogenMod ROM.
However, going back to stock ROM (in my case, LG G2 D802, it's D80220C) won't help since the issue still exists.
What I'm sure is that it was pretty much okay in the beginning, and the situation became worse and worse - occurring randomly, until it arrived to a situation in which I can't use the phone properly during conversation.
Now that I discovered that I can put some stress on the proximity sensor it seems that I have a hardware rather than a software issue.

Proximity sensor triggering Capacitive keys in stock Roms

Hey guys.. I've been having a strange problem with my S4 i9500.
I know there are a lot of people having Proximity sensor bugs but my problem is different.
My Proximity sensor is working totally fine with phone calls and everything seems fine with the sensor.. however whenever the proximity sensor is triggered (switched from far to near) it acts as a press on the menu button (in stock rom it opens the search and in s6/note5 ports it opens multi-window. but the weird thing about this bug that it doesn't happen in GearCM.. only in stock based roms.
it's sounds like not a bug deal bit it is.. cuz whenever my phone reboots 80% of the times it gets stuck in safe mode because of this. and I cannot get out of it untill I do a cache/dalvic cache wipe .
And Ideas ? does anyone had a similar problem? I hope I explained it well.

That's what the proximity sensor is for - to switch off the screen based on interactions. It goes off so that your face doesn't accidentally touch any button and cause problems. It's normal behaviour.
Yes bro ik that but the screen should go black when the sensor is covered with the face or hand. But it goes black as soon as my phone starts ringing. I need to cover the sensor to bring the screen back up so that I could answer the call. Similarly, as soon as I start listening to a voice note received on WhatsApp the screen goes black and the volume goes low I don't know what to do I have tried flashing stock ROM then latest lineage OS unofficial latest build, any help would be appreciated

Well, a complete wipe (Dalvik,Cache,System, Data) should ideally fix such things. But if doesn't, I think your sensor is damaged. Just take it to a service centre then

Sigh, I thought so man, I was hoping it was not the case. Turning the sensor off will fix the issue but no xposed for N yet. I'll keep using this one seeing it's fine usually lol. Thanks for your help mate.

Proximity sensor is always on

Today I noticed that the proximity sensor of my G6 (H870DS) was on while reading in google books. I found that odd so I tried other apps, the home screen and screen off (tried disabling the knock-on feature and have always on display disabled)... still emitting.
Also found this reddit thread with people experiencing the same issue. OP suggests that it came after the July OTA.
I didn't notice any issues, or battery drain, except that it is always on. Did anybody else notice this? Is there a way to turn it off?
I'm not comfortable with it emitting all the time, might damage over time. Thx!
hi does anybody else experience this? thanks

it can happen when an app using the sensor and doesn't release it so it always scan and funtion. it can be phone app or a bug in firmware.
restart your phone and directly go to google book and check if this issue occurs or not.
:good:
Hey there, nope that's regrettably not the case. The proximity sensor starts emitting in the last stages of the boot process (LG logo animation is still on screen), so it's very likely not app related.
I am also experiencing the same issue. It also occurs when in Safe Mode. If you search reddit LG G6, you can see that several people have reported this issue. I've contacted LG and they know nothing about this issue. There must be a way to get a senior engineer at LG to look into this.
My proximity sensor always seems to be on. If I place a phone call and hold the phone next to my face and then remove the phone from my face, the screen does not turn back on. I have to use a BT headset to conduct phone calls.

Proximity sensor stopped working

Hello guys,
I've got a problem, starting yesterday, my Samsung S10 Plus (G975F on ASJG firmware) has some touch screen issues and proximity sensor issues.
What is happening is that when I start a call and I place my phone near ear, it turns the screen off, but when I move it from my ear, it stays off. This issue started yesterday.
I removed the screen protector, did factory reset via ODIN (flashed clean firmware with factory reset).
The test on star#77692# works (proxy sensor test), when I place my finger it turns on, when I lift it it turns off.
Thank you for your help!
perhaps try cleaning the screen. I hear there is a number you can dial to run system tests but I am not sure if it.
Tutuapp9appsShowbox
Just to finish the thread.
I had to replace the screen due to the fact a brand new phone (3 months old) had its display unglued somehow and the issues I described started to appear.
Now everything works...huge dissapointment in Samsung screen quality.
