Hello guys,
I've got a problem, starting yesterday, my Samsung S10 Plus (G975F on ASJG firmware) has some touch screen issues and proximity sensor issues.
What is happening is that when I start a call and I place my phone near ear, it turns the screen off, but when I move it from my ear, it stays off. This issue started yesterday.
I removed the screen protector, did factory reset via ODIN (flashed clean firmware with factory reset).
The test on star#77692# works (proxy sensor test), when I place my finger it turns on, when I lift it it turns off.
Thank you for your help!
perhaps try cleaning the screen. I hear there is a number you can dial to run system tests but I am not sure if it.

Just to finish the thread.
I had to replace the screen due to the fact a brand new phone (3 months old) had its display unglued somehow and the issues I described started to appear.
Now everything works...huge dissapointment in Samsung screen quality.

Hey
My proximity sensor keeps stuffing up. When I make a call, and put the phone to my ear , it turns off the screen but when I release the phone from my ear, the phone screens remains off and I cannot access the phone untill the other party hangs up
This is a real pain when they do not answer and their voicemail comes on and I need to leave a message. I have to turn off my phone when this happens
I have fixed this but it only remains fixed for about a day
I have cleaned it, blown in the area where the proximity sensor sits with a straw ( did not have air compressor can) worked for about a couple of days then it stuffs up again
Not sure what the hell I can do to fix it now.. Buy a new sensor? I have a screen protector but there is a cut out where the ear goes
Go into settings, accessibility, then tick 'The power key ends calls' It won't turn off the screen.
I had that problem, I took the sensor out and wiped it, seems to be fine now. I saw a video online to help me, not got the link readily at hand though
Hello!
Today, I tried to solve a problem with proximity sensor in my G2, which did not work at all. When calling and putting the phone to my ear, the screen didn't turn off, resulting in a lot of accidentaly declined calls. I assumed it was because the inner piece of glass in front of the sensor was dirty and foggy, so I used a tutorial (/watch?v=hPFBA24dR1w) to disassemble the phone and clean the sensor.
At first I discovered that the front LED and proximity sensor hadn't been plugged in, so I fixed that and tried to turn on my phone. This fixed my LED, which I thought was broken for a long time, however didn't fix the proximity sensor.
So I went back into the internals, disassembled the phone completely and cleaned the glass in front of the proximity sensor. Then I plugged all the cables back in. However, when trying to power the phone back on, the screen doesn't turn on.
The blue LED is flashing during the startup, and after several seconds the back notification starts flashing too. When holding the power button, the phone vibrates normally, so the phone seems to be working fine, except for the screen.
I went back to check all the cables, which seem to be connected fine (I can send a photo if needed). I noticed that when I press the power button, I can see some light through tiny holes in the back. Then I noticed the screen turns to a bit lighter shade of black when powered on. I assume the touch screen is working too, because when I try to double tap the screen, the front LED flashes.
I'd like to ask for your help. Is there anything I can try right now?
Thank you very much, and sorry for the long post.
Hi, anyone have issues with galaxy s8 when making/receiving calls ? My S8 was pre-ordered and on the first day of usage im faced with this issue, when making call or receiving phone randomly lights on display (once) and genlty randomly vibrates (as you press home button or nav button), then im take away phone from ear and put it back to ear display turns off, sometimes it keep turned off as normaly but sometimes it lights on again and vibrates, so i have to do previous steps or if ignore that issue than display turns off after some time and when im take away phone from ear to end call phone is locked and display won't light up until press lock button. Also im noticed that when im lock phone or even take it in hand (fingers touches both curved sides of display) phone also gently vibrates and turns from AOD to lock screen, this issue is also randomly. Some times AOD screen suddenly goes bright and than fades like it should be. After two weeks of chatting with samsung and store support im was send it to "service", they tested phone and after 10 days im received phone with status "no problems detected, software reflashed" but issues still not gone. And im can't replace it with new one because store refuses to replace it and says that they don't replace devices with software issues. Now im stuck and don't know what to do.
P.S. in *#0*# menu proximity sensor ADC values randomly keep changing even if nothing is in front of sensor, values are between 79-125 and when completely put finger on sensor values is 16368
Same issue here. Not sure why.
same for me too, international dual sim version s8
I have little bit different issue related to light sensor. My phone doesn't turn off the screen and locks in a pocket or if I close light screen by hands.

I have the same issue (also the oversensitive home button issue too).
I have a similar issue. But my screen never lights up. Neither during a call or when on the desk, for example. But during calls it sometimes vibrates as if I hard pressed the home button even though the screen is still off and I haven't pressed anything with my face, nor have I received any notifications. It doesn't seem to happen once every minute either (some phones notify you of every passing mine during a call).
It's not a big deal for me, just kind of curiously annoying.

Check in settings on ambient display, pocket mode, etc. Or maybe a cache wipe and reboot will solve.
Like Settings-Display-Screen Mode
-Keep screen turned on/off
Thanks to Samsung and Consumer Rights Protection Centre, together we forced store to replace phone. It was a factory deffect, so anyone who has similar problem im advice to replace phone.
I want my second screen to be on when the main screen is off. Second screen works fine when main screen is on. When I turn off the main screen, the second screen changes for a split second (you know how it changes to signature/time?) and then goes black. BUT it still works. From memory, I can swipe to quick toggles and turn on/off my flashlight and it works. But the second screen stays black.
This started after I replaced my cracked screen. After swapping it with a replacement, I was having a bunch of issues with the proximity sensor (second screen off when main is off, knock on wouldn't work, fingerprint wouldn't work, sensor app always said 0cm). I fixed these by moving over the little rubber gasket from my old screen, but the second screen still doesn’t work.
Second screen daily timeout is disabled. I wiped dalvik/cache from recovery. Rebooted multiple times. Opened it back up and reconnected the display ribbon cable. Tested the display and sensors from the hidden service menu.
Any advice?? I'd like to troubleshoot further before doing a hard reset (I have so many mods installed lol). This second screen is why I haven't upgraded the phone yet...
You forgot to put the rubber gasket for the proximity sensor back in. Without it, you'll see exactly the problems you are now. Search eBay for LG V20 Rubber Gasket Holder and you'll see the part I'm talking about. If you put it back in it will fix these issues. It's a common problem with the LG V20 screen repair.

I have problem with my s10+ exynos.
When calling and the phone is on my ear, the screen turns off.
However when moving my phone away from my ear the screen stays off during the call.
I have to push the power button to wake the screen up.
With my s7 edge the screen used to turn on when I moved my phone away from my ear when in a call.
When dialing *#0*# for the test menu's, clicking the sensors button doesn't show any proximity sensor at all?
I removed the screenprotector and the issue happends with both case on and off.
When recording sensor activity with the app Androsensor, the generated csv clearly shows that the proximity sensor goed from 2 to 0 and back to 2, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.
Also booting in safe mode and factory reset doesn't resolve the issue.
Am I missing somthing in the settings?
Is anyone else running into this issue?
I contacted the shop where I bought the phone and they told me that it's very likely to be a defective phone.
So I will send the phone back and once they have confirmed the issue, they will send a new device.
same thing happens to me
Update - it stopped happening on my phone all of the sudden. Now it is working fine.
