Anyone got the latest plex media server apk? I was tinkering around with ES file manager and end up deleting something with plex files.

For a while I've had some of my music accessible over the internet and I play it at my friends' house where they have older computers with smaller capacity.
This is how the internet access is setup
1) the file server is running XP Pro with IIS v5 as the webserver
2) I have a "media" folder that is shared within the my home network
3) That same folder is also shared on the IIS webserver (Read-only + Directory Browsing)
4) I forwarded port 80 to the file server in my router
5) I setup an account at dyndns.org (example: myserver.dydns.org)
So if I want to play my music on any computer I browse to http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/ and I get a list of my music folder (categorized as genre/artist/album/01 filename.mp3), for example, if I want to play a specific song, I could browse to http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3
Here is my problem: I can not play my mp3s on WM5
* If I browse to a file, I only get the option to download the mp3
* If I open Windows Media Player , click on Menu > Library, then click on Menu > OpenUrl, then type the url "http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3", I get the error message:
"Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play"
I also have m3u playlists setup in the Media folder. Some have relative urls to the files (for example: ../music/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3) while others have the absolute url (e.g. http://myserver.dyndns.org/media/genre/artist/album/01 Title.mp3) . Both play with no problems on the desktop version of WMP, but they will not play on the Mobile version.
After searching the web, I found out that WMM natives supports playlists in the asx format, so I created asx files which WMM loads automatically from the browser but throws the error message:
"Cannot play any items in the playlist. For additional information, on the Now Playing screen, select an item, and then press Menu > Error Details."
Could someone please help resolve this problem.

Playing shared mp3's over internet
Tried your dns.org setup on my wizard...great idea. used TCPMP core player to access dns.org site. This will let you stream any content, just add to playlist. Although due to high bitrate of content streaming over edge network not so good, wi-fi works perfect. Now, I have the reverse problem and can not download file through PIE. Could you explain your setup to download and save file?
I have a home network with several computers with shares. I can see all of the computers using Shares Finder. One thing I can not get to work is my Media server shares. I was able to mount for a while last night using CifsManerger but is stopped working.
I have one computer that I can see all the shares with Shares Finder. I can use ES File Manager and access to shares but not on any other computer. All my computers are running Windows 7 and I have gone over and everything looks setup exactly the same.
When Share Finder runs it says SMB: 12 files and that is the number of shares found and will list all the shares and these are the shares I can access. My Media PC will not do this. Any Ideas?
Are your boxes in a domain?

I found that if I copy a file to the server that it will stop working. If I reboot the server it starts working again. I copy several dvd rips per week to the media server so I hope someone can figure this out. I have several hundred rips to this server so PLASE help.!
I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for hence the new post.
Basically I want to be able to stream my media to my phone from my home PC. Also I want the ability to stream media over the internet via my cellular data connection too when required. Similar stuff to what Air Video does on iPhone.
One of you recommended me ES File Explorer but this relies on a static IP address for my computer serving the media which I don't want to set up.
Any way of doing it using the computer name?
Have you tried Plex ??
No Static IP, or Computer Name Required...
You install the Plex Server on your Computer (Make sure you download the SERVER, and not the Media Center)
Install, tell the Server where to find you files (Music and/or Videos) and it will start loggin them all (even download posters/album art)
Then you install the Plex Android app on your phone (This Cost a few $ via the Play Store)
Sign up for a Free myPlex account, then Sign into it via the Plex Server, and the Android App... then all of your media is available locally or over the internet...
Plex will even stream to a PS3 (or any DLNA enabled Device)
The few $ for the Android App is work it. Plex works way better than most of the free alternatives (I think there are like 2) and Plex also Transcodes videos so you don't have to worry about format problems..
Although I use DicePlayer so it handles pretty much all videos

No... not without some service for dynamic DNS management.
How often is your ip address changed by your provider? Mine rarely changes and I simply have Tasker check it every time I leave the house and stuff the value into a global. Of course, if you are on the road for long periods of time when your ip might be changed... that won't help. If this is your case you will need a server side process like the aforementioned Plex, or more simply, an account with a service like DynDNS.org. I prefer the latter as I want more access to my server (VNC, full file access, and connection to a home built http server for home automation) than Plex would allow.
You could also cron a shell script to get the current address periodically and send you a message if it changes, of course you would have to manually set the ip in ES File Explorer (or other client) when that address changes. In my case, it simply does not happen often enough for me to need set up any of this.
Try ghostcommander. You can just enter your computer name login and password. Easy peasy.

That's on a LAN, right?
Qloud is one of the best apps I've used for streaming video and music. The music player could be better but the video player can play any file format and it is an awesome app. Check it out in the play store they have a free version so you can test it out before you buy.

I've tried Qloud already but had no luck with getting it to work.
Plex sounds pretty good actually. I just want to try before I buy it though.
im having trouble with the dns on a couple of apps that i use. jump desktop, and vlc remote
i have 2 other pc's on my home network. pc-1 and pc-2. all apps connect to pc-2 without any problems. only es file explorer will connect to pc-1. jump, and vlc both act like the pc isn't there or that something is blocking it from connecting. all apps were working fine a week ago
pings, and nslookup from terminal emulator displays the correct information
is there a way to reset the dns for the entire os? or does anyone know a fix for this?
I have my server setup on the Shield 2017 16gb. I also have it setup on my pc. With the pc the channel HDGrandSlam works great, but I can't get it to show up in the Shield channels. I do have it rooted so I can transfer the .bundle to the plugins folder with the other plugins I have installed. It is in the right folder but does not show up in channels. Anyone have any idea what to check. Thanks in advance.
