J3 ( 2016 ) 320fn - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

Hello my daughter do have this mobile phone. She came with it to me and display was filled with random color stripes over whole display ( verticall ). I have tried to restart phone but it wont turn on no single mark of life ( no charging marks of charging not even single vibrate if i try to turn it on ). I have tried to do restart or go to the download mode but nothing has work. She told me that she has dropped her phone but only thing that was broken was cover glass and not single scratch on display etc. Any ideas what can be broken? Could some cable got disconnected by dropping it?

I think that the LCD has a mechanical damage. I saw a phone once. The display glass was fine but not the lcd. It had wierd random color lines.
In that case replacing the LCD display was the solution.
You should try to charge the battery. Maybe it is empty but you can't see the charging?

No image after lcd replacement

Hi, I've unfortunately broken my hd's lcd.
I've replaced it at home, but after I turn on the device, it vibrates one time, then I hear the htc opening sound, but there is no image or light.
So I guess the device itself is functional, but there is a problem with the lcd.
Somebody told me, that if I put on it a new stock rom it would fix the problem.
But when I connect the hd with an usb cable to my computer, nothing happens, there is no connection estabilished, the computer doesn't see the hd.
When I plug the device to charge, it charges.
So how can I replace the rom on my hd? :S
I've also tried to update the device from an sd card, I've formatted an 8gb sd card under win7,put on it an official rom, with the device turned off pressed the vol down button+the power button, then release the power button, the the vol down button, then press the power button.
But it's the sam: vibrateing when turning on,then after 30secs the htc sound, but no update..
Have you taken your HD apart again and checked the physical connection of the ribbon connectors for the LCD and Digitizer? They have to be pushed all the way into the socket and the sockets must be locked in a couple of different methods depending on the connection type. If they aren't in properly, you would probably experience the problem you've described.
Before trying to explore software issues, make 100% sure that you don't have a hardware issue.
I had the sync connection issues, then I found this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524619 I followed the instructions and was able to get connected again. It's worth a try.
if you change the lcd and don't get any image on the device
I would think
the lcd you got is dead
or the image display port of your motherboard is dead

I also have the same no image issue. I have also tried a second LCD with no luck. Once I was able to connect to the phone again, I flashed the stock rom from HTC, still no LCD. Tried leaving the battery out overnight, still nothing. I have been able to get the phone display to work by putting the phone body minus battery by an exterior window for about 1/2 hour, its cold in my neck of the woods. Pop the battery back in and I have a screen again, for about 5 minutes... One time I was able to get the phone to stay on for over an hour by doing the above steps and then right after putting battery back in cool phone, I immediately synced up with my PC and it stayed alive.. I don't know what the deal is.
Update for those who care. I have been playing with the cold phone/battery and have found out the following:
Cold battery/warm phone = no LCD
cold phone/warm battery = no LCD
cold phone/cold battery = working LCD every time.
I have also been able to use the phone, after both batt. and phone are cold, for as long as I want as long as it stays active and does not go to sleep. The phone will not come back on if I let the screen turn off by itself or if I push the power button to turn it off unless I cool it off again. I plan to call HTC in the morning to see about a repair, but have had fun playing with this weird situation.
So,I've opened up my HD and found out, that the data cable that is connected to the volume button has been detached from it.
Is it possible to solder it back without changing the piece?
My hd is still in the srvice shop for a price offer, but after I will get it back, I will try your cold lcd/battery thing.
Will it work with the fridge too? Because it's getting warm up here
So,if I undertand you correctly: after the lcd and the battery is cold, the lcd works, and if you connect it with the pc, it's stays alive until you put the screen to sleep, than it's dead again?

The cold trick has worked every time for me. I only hooked it up and had it on while connected to the pc once, but I think it should work again.
On another note, I heard back from the repair center and they wanted to replace the LCD (for $300) and I then explained to them that the LCD was not the problem and then was informed if it was indeed the mainboard that needed replacement then it would cost even more... I tried to plead with them that it is a common problem with HD's and even though the warranty is void I think they should cover it, didn't work.. It's times like these that I curse my curiosity and ability to repair my own things.

As far as the fridge goes, it should work just don't leave it in too long.. if it gets too cold then you might get condensation when it heats back up.
Forgot to add that I got my HD back from HTC yesterday. Got excited thinking they went ahead and fixed it for me!! But no... It worked just fine for about 5 hours after I unboxed and put my battery back in. Was turning on and off like normal, then after bout 5 hours it was back to the usual working phone with no LCD. I did notice that the screen was pulsing, for lack of a better term, it would dim then come back up to full brightness, then dim and repeat. There has got to be a way to fix this! (other than the mainboard replacement)

[Q] Nexus 4 do not turn on after LCD/Display crashed

Hello guys!
I've dropped my nexus 4 and the LCD crashed completly. Then i bought a new LCD (only LCD) and tried to change by myself, but everything went wrong, i couldn't attach it with the glue that they sent me and i saw some cracks on the display.
After the "change", the phone does not turn on anymore, just blink the notification led with red color.
Now i'm thinking to buy the full display (LCD+Display) and try to change it again, i mean, it can't be hard to do, you just have to connect the cables and close (that's what i think).
Is there a way to discover if the full display will bring my phone back to life? :crying:
Thank you!!
Up :crying:

The blinking red LED could indicate a fully discharged battery. Try leaving it on a 2.0 amp charger for a few hours to see if you can get it to boot.

I've tried it but the phone still the same. Maybe it's happening due the display is broken (cracked in the top right). I've installed a new one lcd thinking this could be the problem but now i'm thinking it's the display. Is there any way to test the motherboard and see if it's ok? If i could test the motherboard, i could decide between buy a new complete display (lcd + display) or another phone.
Thanks!
I don't know of any way to test the motherboard without a working display.
Heeyy, i've tried a new one charger, the phone blinked the red light a few minutes and then the screen turned on, but unable to see anything, due the broken display, but² the power button dont do anything, not even to turn the screen off. By this we can conclude that the motherboard is ok, and the problem is the display, right?
I've attached the photo of the screen. The white traces is where the display is "cracked", not really cracked, it's like a kneaded cloth, but it matches the cracks that the screen had.
As a test of the motherboard, let the phone charge with the new charger for a couple of hours. Then, try and power up the phone in fastboot mode, and type "fastboot devices" from a command prompt. Hopefully, the command will return the phone's serial #.

Broken front screen, touch working but no charging

Hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy S7 Edge. It fell and bumped on the front screen. The touchscreen is (was) still working, but there was some flickering and the half-bottom of the screen had bands green and black continuously. I don't understand completely the damage because for example it seems that I can even only replace the "outer" screen but I think the damage is deeper.
There is a photo:

(XDA doesn't let me post the link, fix the link by yourself, please)
I even tried to search for the replacement screen but didn't find it. Could you link me a website where to buy the screen replacement? How do you think is deep the hurt?
More than this, some days (a week circa) after the broken display it was charging and was possible to use (even with the broken screen - in fact touchscreen was working). But suddenly it stopped charging at all. Plugging-in the cable makes the phone show the icon of the charging forever (it's turned off) but never shows the precentile. What is the problem? It was charging some days ago!
Thanks.

No power, notification LED flashing

Hey.
I've tried to fix my phone screen's digitizer (first idea was to unplug the screen and plug it back in, which kinda worked). The phone worked fine while disassembled and I did a stupid thing - I turned it off by disconnecting the battery, as the power button was not working while disassembled. After I put it back together it did not turn on anymore (disassembling it again does not help). The notification LED is flashing while I'm holding the power button, it also starts flashing when I plug in the charger.
What could be the issue here?
EDIT: I figured out the issue - I broke off a tiny component on the motherboard while putting it back together. Took me a while.
How is the phone now? Did you replace the motherboard or lcd display? Did you repaired? Is the phone fixed?
