Hello Community,
Ive searched the web/xda for this, but cant find a solid sollution, and i hope the pros here can help me
The security of the HD2 isnt fine with me, when i use PIN code setup after lock (after 1 hour for example), it will ask me the pincode every time i try to unlock the phone.
Also, what if i lose my phone, it doesnt have a SIM-lock, atm it would mean that everyone could just pop in a SIM card, read all my messages see my photos and what more.
And they will be able to use it ... this is not what i am used for a mobile phone.
What i would like is:
PIN-security, but only after 1 hour of inactivity on the phone.
Security that when i lose my phone, no one could possibly use it (cause its PIN or PW protected)
Hope some one knows what i mean, and can give me a decent sollution
(not the half baked things that i already found myselfe)
Thanks alot!
This can be done with group policy when using an exchange server.
Have you tried changing the time in Security > Phone lock?
Ofcourse, but every time i unlock my phone, it asks the password.
I cant imagen no one else is bothered with this?
not an exact answer for you, however the free software "remotetracker" has the ability (amongst many many other great features) to remotely disable your phone via txt message if you lose it, even if they change sim.
This is a widespread problem with the HD2, with no known fix so far. This bug and the constantly dropped data connection bug are making me seriously doubt my choice of buying an HD2. You'd think that 6 months after release these sort of kinks would be ironed out already.
Here's the main password bug thread:

The first part, use S2U2. It locks after say 30 seconds, but won't ask PIN until after say one hour (but elapsed times configurable). It also means if the phone is lost, people can access everything if they have the hands on it within an hour, which is very likely.
I don't think the second is possible, if "use" mean using the hd2 as an hd2. If you want to protect your data in case of a lost, then
1) enable SD card encryption (in setting tab). Then people can pull the card and read it somewhere else
2) use remove tracker, allowing you to do remote operations like erasing files and things.
3) exchange admin can remote wipe your device
4) use the painful builtin PIN lock. Yes you are typing it every time, but if the PIN is wrong for 10 times, your phone is wiped clean.
Hi all, I have rooted my Galaxy S Continuum and am looking for a way to remove the annoying password lock that sets every time my screen times out. I had a droid before, and was able to set the lockout time for an hour or more. Im sure its not my admin's issue but an issue with the Galaxy S software. Any Ideas on how to make the bad password go away?
Thanks,
Ramsey
Hi I'm new to the forum so hello everyone. OK so recently I bought a slightly used At&t Samsung galaxy s5 from craigslist. Phone works great I unlocked the phone via Imei #. The only thing that I Have a problem is reactivation lock. The phone has it on. I contacted the seller asked if he could give me the password for the Samsung account had no problem with that but when I typed in the password it got me back to the system setting and the check mark was still on. I tried doing it several times but without a success. I tried going to find my phone website but I didn't find an answer eather. I'm kind of stuck at this step because I don't want to bother him every time I do factory reset or something. Did anyone had this problem before or any suggestions on what I should do????
Thank you

You heed to use paragraphs. Your post was too hard to read.
The purpose of reactivation lock is to keep stolen handsets being activated by someone else. You need the previous owner to provide a working password. Or have the original owner talk to support and have the password reset.
Otherwise you effectively have a mp3 player /wifi browser, instead of an unrestricted smartphone.
.
Ok so i do have the correct password for the samsung account and i know that because when i enter incorrect password it shows that the password is incorect.
When i enter the correct password it gets me to the point of me looking at the reactivation lock button with the check mark on. No matter how many times i enter the password correctly the check mark is still on.
Btw. The phone works fine its unlocked i make calls from it and everthing.
Anyone had a problem like that?? Any help
Did you try clicking on the check mark to toggle it off?

Yes i did. Severeal times entered the password and checkmark is still on. Its like it got stuck and wont unstuck
Try to restart the phone and then try to deactivate the activation lock again. Happened to me before and after restart, I can successfully deactivate the lock
Is the reactivation lock a problem with non-TW firmwares? Or can you rip out the Samsung-specific junk that ties the phone to their activation process in a TW rom?

It is not a Samsung specific feature, although Google and Microsoft plan to implement similar anti theft features. Although with all things not IOS, a particular carrier can veto having the feature on their network.

have u try remove previous samsung account in the account setting?

ok thanks. I thought it was tied to the Samsung account because you need the Samsung account password to disable the reactivation lock.
@CrashTestDroid
My apologies, I mispoke earlier. Reactivation lock is Samsung specific. I had meant to say that it was not carrier specific.
However Google and Microsoft plan to introduce similar anti theft kill switches in the near future. Minnesota passed a law in May requiring phones sold there to have a kill switch and similar legislation is pending in California and New York.

hi all hope anyone can help me with this big issue let me just start by saying all software is at the latest update since today and there is no hardware problem since i did test it
ok so here is the problem since 6.0.1 came out with this new type password lock i had this issue right i use my gear 2 with my Samsung note 4 even as a trusted devise to easy unlock the devise but say i go to sleep and the next morning i wake up and the gear is still connected via Bluetooth and there was no like out of range or is in the night it was disconnected and reconnected nothing like that but when i wake up and try to unlock the devise i have to put in my password again and then its fine the whole day since when i unlock it till i go to sleep no putting the code in again now what i think is that every new morning like 12am it might do this but not so cause the one day i had to call my mom just after 12 and there was still no unlock code asked so i have no idea why this is not always unlocked and why i have to put in the password at least once a day and this is excluding when i remove my battery and put in a full one im talking just as my battery is on standby say 50% and the next morning i have to put in the code and then resume using the devise
Hi guys.
Sorry if this in the wrong forum. I didnt find any dedicated Zenpad 10 general discussion.
I have a problem. Im helping my uncle who on a weekly basis forgets his passwords, smash his screen etc. and comes to me for help with accessing his phones again.
Today he came to me again, telling me he managed to forget which google account he created when activating his newly bought Asus Zenpad 10. I tried all his accounts I know of (can't log on the the Asus at all without the password).
Then I had to resort to my usual fix, that is just factory reseting the thing and start all over. What I didn't know about is the new factory reset protection in Android. I can't do **** without logging on the old account which was used the first time.
I've read some fixes on other phones, using a dial app exploit, but that doesnt work on the Asus. Anyone know a fix for it?
Same problem here!
I see this is an old post. was wondering if you found a solution to this problem?..
