I've been running EE03 since it was leaked.
The reason I stuck with it was because I saw EXCELLENT battery life (compared to SRF1.0.2. which I was running previusly) with the same usage (for me)..
Gingerbread was laggy at times, had some minute bugs that were tolerable (during my usage patterns) but I fell in love with the battery life.
On SRF 1.0.2 I would put my phone in airplane mode overnight to keep the battery from dying while i slept.. while it was a workaround (for me) it wasn't the most desirable solution.. I felt adventurous one night while on GB and left the phone sitting, no airplane mode, just to see how far the battery would drop compared to SRF... i only lost 5% overnight.. THAT was the ticket for me.. so i kept it and ran it.. haven't flashed a thing since.. no new apps, no new configurations.. it was working beautifully (as well as a leaked build could be expected to ) .. but it was very tolerable for me..
Until the last couple days... I noticed (all of a sudden) that while I'm sitting next to my computer, phone plugged in to charge before bed, the phone would disconnect/reconnect to the computer.. it would make that sound when you plug it in.. it would do this no matter what percent of charge it had.. for no rhyme or reason... I wiggled the cord in both the phone and computer in case the cord was to blame.. nothing.. i couldn't 'force replicate' this anomaly.. Further, at night around 4 in the morning the phone would vibrate and pop up that it was going to die, please plug in charger... the second night, I put the phone in airplane mode overnight and I STILL got the pop up at 3am that it was going to die...
So I decided (at 11:30) last night to ODIN back to EC05, then root w/ CWM 3.0.2.5. and flash SRF 1.1.1 .... I'll see how it goes.. hopefully battery life on this build is better than what I experienced on 1.0.2 lol...
Sorry for the long post.. I just wanted to share my frustration and see if anyone else had this weird anomaly w/ EE03.
/venting and pissing off the rest of XDA for long post
ive had the same problems with the disconnect/reconnect sound off. on top of what you have mentioned i have also had the problem of the phone being fully charged but showing the red charge light instead of the blue fully charged light. additionally the phone seems to get much more hot on this rom, i can simply be playing a game or something and the phone will get so hot that the charging is forced to be stopped, never had this problem untill the ee03,

I had the same issues , I was worried my phones charging port might be damaged but a quick flash back to srf proved it was the EE03 rom
Besides that, everything ran perfectly for me.

I've had problems with the phone not charging all the way. It will show 100% charge and then stop charging. When you unplug, it then shows the actual battery level, which has been as low as 35%. I've tried lots of things like wiping battery stats, but it keeps happening randomly.
EE03 is still fairly buggy. Some days my battery life is fantastic. Other days, it drains like a sieve. Even when I have fairly similar issues. Seems to correspond to how "hot" the phone is running that day. Also, phone calls just eat battery life.
going back to EC05 too... gonna be a long few weeks (hopefully only that). Awesome, just too hot, buggy, and I get PISSPOOR battery life.... but I have horrible reception at home, and even using roam control it still sucks down the juice. Also, I cant remember, is the settings process supposed to be permanenty running??? mine is, maybe that explains the settings not sticking... go samsprint go!
Its going to be hard for me to leave EC05. Full bars on my 4G. Wifi Tether is insanely fast and reliable. Bluetooth pairs properly. This has been the best modem for me by a mile

Yeah, the most I was able to get out of EE03 was 8 hours of idle time with the battery calibrated.

initially, I was getting stellar battery life, but the last couple days of using it, I noticed my phone getting hot. I have no idea why things were slick as snot for a long time, then it all went to hell in a handbasket.. good thing is it's easy enough to change to something else LOL (thanks Epic Devs )
EE03 has been strange for me at times. I've noticed when it's charging and it makes the charging sound, the battery life will be terrible the next time I take it off. However, if I just reboot it, it usually stops making the sound at random times, and the battery life is giving me 12+ hours/day.

So true. The first day of switching over to it I got over a days worth of battery but lately it hasn't been that awesome though it is still better than it was before
2 or 3 days ago, while running VR13, I noticed my phone flickering green/orange LED lights while charging and also noticed it was hot. I looked up the problem and discovered this meant it was overheating. Ordered a replacement two days ago, arrived today. I charged it fully as soon as it arrived before turning it on. Eveything was ok, no overheating and to take extra precautions, I even flashed Ele's Gingerbread rom. Everything was working flawlessly until around the time I got home, I noticed the heat was going up again even though the phone was on standby in my pocket.
The battery life was low from a day of using it so it's charging atm. The orange/green light sin't flickering so it hasn't reached official overheating status yet but according to battery info, it's at 43.2 degrees celcius. I have no clue what's causing this, could it be the phone itself or could it be software related?
I didn't want to get a new phone till December or before ice cream sandwich rolled out so I hope I can fix these problems without getting a replacement. Thanks for the help.
Let me understand you straight - you had an overheating hero, you ordered a replacement = a new hero, and this one is overheating too? Without any obvious reason?
I mean, a friend of mine had an overheating problem cause of keeping his phone under a pillow during the night, but I can't see why yours would get hot.
Just a long shot, but maybe you got poor network signal, your hero tries to keep it up, spends more power, overheats.. had this a few times with my hero, while I was powerusing (net, sms, downloading something in the background), phone gets hot really fast, especially if it's overclocked.
Post some more info. Anything could be helpful. It's not like temporary overheating is rare. In the summer..
Since last week I am experiencing a really strange behavior of my battery.
Sometimes my phone (in a random app) just vibrates, the screen goes black and then it reboots. After the reboot I have lost 40-50% battery life. Sometimes the phones isn't even able to complete the reboot because it spontaneously has too little power left. See attached screenshots.
Has anybody had similar problems? Or knows a solution?
About my setup: The problem seems to be not rom or kernel related. It occurs no matter what rom or kernel setting I am using. Currently I am running coool boy's 4.3 GE witch KT's kernel (no OC or UV).
Is it possible that the battery is physically damaged? I have NO IDEA...
Experiencing the same problem. I've flashed back to stock and still experiencing this. Phone randomly turning off, not starting, sudden battery drops. Driving me crazy.

I've seen the same sort of graph on my old i9000. You're not gonna like this, but it got worse over time, and eventually my battery wouldn't last more than 5 mins. I thought buying a new battery would help, but it didn't. When I sent it in to Samsung they said they would have to replace the entire motherboard...
I think it's got something to do with the motherboard not being able to correctly sense the battery voltage/whatever/%. The phone reboots automatically because it thinks the battery is flat (even though it isn't).
If you're under warranty I suggest sending it in soon... Hopefully it's not the same as what I had heh.

Well *#!$
I'll observate it for the next few days and see if it's getting worse...
If your phone is rebooting as opposed to just powering off, then I suspect it is hardware related (motherboard) as already mentioned.
I do hope I'm wrong though.
Maybe try using it for extended periods while plugged into a charger and see what happens. If it doesn't reboot then it may just be the battery.
Right as OP I'm suffering the same exact problem or there abouts. I've flashed back to stock rom, fully charged to 100% drained to 0% back to 100% yet still phone keeps shutting off randomly and the only way it works properly is with the charger plugged in. It's escalated quite badly with now after a few mins of YouTube turning itself off and not rebooting. I've requested a repair by o2 who I'm in contract with and see what will happen. I've heard crap stories about their repairs before taking it to Samsung.
I9500 owner. Had this exact same problem when using older firmware. After updating to the latest one, never had this issue again. Its been two months now, even more.
Try this. Flash the latest available firmware for you phone, not talking about OTA but the downloadable one from any region (whichever is latest for i9505). I guess it may have something to do with the kernel too.
Edit: wait a minute, why is your battery level going up when it isn't even charging in the second screenshot. Middle of the battery timeline. That's weird. I guess you should send the phone back

Thank you guys :good:
In the last few days the problem occurred more often. But now it is just shutting down (no reboot after vibrate) and after plugging it to the charger and restarting it sometimes I haven't lost any battery. Strange!
I fear there is nothing else to do than turning it in (warranty)

Same problem here. It started three days ago and today I'm barely able to use it... I'm still on warraty and I even have insurance, but it's a major inconvenience anyway.
Mines gone in for repair back to my carrier still no movement despite them having it for 2 days now really should have sent it back to Samsung directly. Will keep you guys posted.

That's good to hear, just inconvenience but at least you won't have to pay for it (or have the defect materialize a year later or something)

Hey
I am new here.
but i was looking for information becuase my s4 9505i has the same problem
shuts of almost everytime i open apps too quickly or stream youtube or some other high usage apps etc.
battery drops up to 50 percent then back 40 percent then to 0 percent, the fact it that the phone never seems to know where the battery is.
by the way my phone is not rooted and i have done the factory reset a few times.
samsung... hmmm.. they seem to be real hard to talk to on the phone, i have had to call them 4 times already about the s4 i ahve had since june, and they just play me off like i am some kind of idiot etc. and deny that there is possibly any reason for random shutdowns, phone freezing, and now this battery/motherboard issue.
next bit is kinda stupid, the phone has a few internal scratches on it from when i ahve stupidly had the phone next to keys and all that. im sure they are going to try and void my warranty and say i have mistreated the phone...
had many phones before, maybe close to 50 and never, never, never have had to ring up a company to try and complain etc.....
any ideas.
I am in Australia,
I am thinking of trying the CONSUMER AFFAIRS kind of threats, but i have to word it the right way...
I`ve had the phone for 3 days now and before upgradin from the Iphone 6 ( my first and last iphone) i was really anxious about the many issues listed in the forums especially the touchscreen problem. When i initially got it i started testing everything and I`m glad to say that everything worked fine (sooo relieved) but when i charged it for the first time it charged very slowly, about 3 hours for a full charge, and it got really hot when using lightly the 3rd day a did a factory reset and immediately noticed the the battery charged way faster about 1% per minute ( i dont know how it compares to you other guys) and the phone didnt get nearly as hot. From all this i belive that LG did e very good job hardware wise but i think like many other conapnies fell a little short on the software department and hopefully it will be fixed in the updates to come.

Mine will start getting hot and eating battery once in a while, but a reboot always fixes that. 1% charge per minute is about what I see on the stock LG charger.

Glad to know its not only me. Have you used a QC with the phone? I ordered a Tronsmart 2.0 QC off ebay hopefully it will work faster without any issues.
I bought the Tronsmart QC 2.0 and its awesome. I go from 48% to close to 100% in the 45min car ride home. I do not notice any heat that is worrying. It does get warm when charging but normal.
My G4 was raging out of the box. Super hot. Brightness was being throttled back between 100, 90, and 80 pretty frequently and it went from 60% to dead in like 15minutes. After I wiped and setup as new, it has been running as one would expect.

Glad to hear that ☺. I actually purchased the wall charger but i guess the performance will be similiar. The one thing i noticed today was the battery life, it seems it is not that great during very light usage but that may be due to the fact that these couple of days the reception has been awful because the carrier im using (Vodafone) is switching to 4G for the first time in my country and ,a little out of topic i know, the download speeds have shocked me, my home connection max download speed is about 400-500kbps and today i witnessed 15-20mbps.
Battery does drain faster in low signal areas. I found that a slow charge at night yeilds longer charges throughout the day. I use fast charge in the car so I can use GPS and still get a charge. But at home and office I use Qi Wireless Charging. I use fast charging at home but only when I am doing heavy useage. I slow charge while I sleep.

It could be the phone is performing media scanning which keeps the phone awake. This should be completed in a day or two.
If you still experience battery drain after couple of days. I'd suggest performing a full format of the micro SD card on a computer. Incase there are bad sectors on the SD card that the phone is stuck on try to read them.

The funny thing is that the the two buying factors for me were the removable back and the micro SD slot, and the only issue I have may or may not be with the micro SD and a slightly loose hinge on the left side of the battery cover but I have experienced that with every phone I had including the g2 and the iPhone 6 without a removable back that had this issue.
Hey,
This is my first LG phone. I'm a bit disappointed, but the camera makes up for everything (mostly).
First of all, the device I'm using right now is the third one within a week. I got it from Vodafone, and the first two had the same issue. When the screen was on, and showing bright things, the front speaker would give out a high pitched whistle sound. You could only hear it initially if you held it to your ear. However in recorded videos it was clear and loud enough to be very very annoying. This third unit is ok it seems, but my advice to everyone is to try the G4 before leaving the shop. It might just be a bad batch that was made for Vodafone, a similar thing happened to me with my HTC One X, that had screen issues, and there too I had to go through several devices.
I did notice lag, Nova Launcher helps, but I'm really looking to root the thing and putting CM or some AOSP rom on it. My S5 seems way snappier with BlissPop on it. The only problem with that is I loose the camera app, the thing I bought it for in the first place.
The battery is ok, but I expect more. I haven't had heat issues. The GPS draines the battery though really bad. If you don't use a charger whilst navigating, you'll go flat within an hour, which is not stellar at all. If you use a normal 2.1A charger, you can keep it on level, or might even add a few %.
The camera is awesome, and the leather back too. Cool that at Vodafone you get the leather and a plastic back in the box.

Thankfully I didn't have any hardware issues, I have the Hong Kong version because there's where most of retailers get the phones in my country, I think there's a lot room for improvement software wise and I'm hoping coming updates especially android M, will refine this device even more. I really hoped my I would get the plastic back cover in the box and I'm really jealous of those who did ??
Im starting to notice two more things with the G4, the battery cover (leather) is making a creacking noise when i press it on some areas, and the other one is the with the vibration motor that makes a little bit of noise compared to other phones ive had, has any of you guys experienced this?

It's up to you, but as you have seen its much recommended if you have any issues.
I know I'm not alone on this one, I have to constantly cool down, it's totally intermittent and it's scalding....I hope it will be fixed soon and not just a myth. the folks at ATT said it had something to do with being more green. I think if an app is spinning in the background, it should be told to stop....
Mine gets very warm very quickly, but hasn't (yet) gotten hot. Certainly not "uncomfortable to hold" hot, anyway.
yeahh, i just received the phone and there are a lot of downloads an updates, but the phone is really hot. with a normal charger i hane no charging at all. the drain is bigger than than the energy from the charger.

I have been told by BlackBerry tech support the heat temperature flare ups could be caused by the encryption that is being done in the background.
Mine doesn't get to hot but it does get as warm as my note 5. I purchased egrip stickers from amazon to improve the grip and it has also helped with the comfort of the amount of heat you feel while holding the device in your hand and my pocket
I found a great app called "ShutApp" It let's you shut everything down that's running in the background. I have 117, It's running so much cooler now and the battery is lasting longer.
It's still not fixed got very hot in airplane mode plugged in at 100%, it dropped to 97 still plugged in So it must be something to do with charging.. It also just comes and goes as I'm working or watching a video...but sometimes under the same load it stays cool....
12/7 3rd party Camara apps are really cooking, and with short use maybe there should be a handwarmer app (lol)
12/11 I'm sad that this is electing my future non removable battery's life! ..at 100% I reboot in airplane with no apps running in background and plugged in it returned to 99% and started baking.. this is a power problem......
Yes my BlackBerry does get hot for no reason. All my apps are shut, last night i had it in my pocket and i felt it on my leg very warm. As I'm typing this right now i also feel it in the middle back of the phone. I really hope they fix this. As for battery life i am very disappointed, I thought it was supposed to be 22 hours and my lasts like 8 to 10 hours. I even got myself a Aukey portable battery charger and Aukey quick charger, it does charge fast like 1 hour and 30 minutes but it also drains quick. Apparently what drains it the most if being connected to WiFi. Really hoping they find a root for this or fix all these problems or I'm going back to Samsung.
the last update is solved this problem?
Serious hot spots have occurred in Airplane with minimal background while just working on a pic or document.. This is a serious problem and is leaning towards being a hardware issue.. Even though it helps to run an efficient system .. IT should be able to tell whatever when it is getting that hot to cool off....
I will hope to exchange it a third time But not until I know the replacement they give me isn't nt just another of the same....

The priv is the very first of its kind but here are some things you can do to cool it down
1: Turn The Brightness Down- most phones tend to heat up because the battry is pushing alot of power to the screen to make it brighter
2:Android: The Priv is the first blackberry not running the original OS; It's now running on Android Marshmallow which has a lot of animations and alot mor functionality so this could also cause it.
3: Replace The Battery: Yes I know it's the battery that came with the phone. I have 3 friends with the priv and when 2 of them went from stock battery to generic there phone did not turn into a brick out of the oven!
I hope this helped!

i had this issue for the first 2-3 days of getting the phone. disabled a few of the 'neat' settings ( wake on pick up, bb keyboard predictions, using swiftkey instead of bb keyboard, maybe a few others ) and since then it doesnt even get warm, like at all.. had it on for 20 minutes playing a youtube video and the phone was still cool...
Bought mine 2 weeks ago, it does get pretty hot (to the point of not touching it sometimes).
Only when I play games or snapchat, browsing internet doesn't heat it too much.
Especially when charging, so I try not to use it as much.
But the battery drops the same so it doesn't matter much, I just let it cool down and continue
Are you on any marshmallow rom ?
I haven't had any problems while using marshmallow.
