Hi guys
I've picked up a used Nexus 10 from a relative and factory reset it. I'm happy to start fresh as i realise unlocking the bootloader for rooting will do so.
I'm not in need of the latest version of Android but wondered if i installed maybe a nougat rom it would perform better than stock with things like Kodi running. Is there an overclocking rom or kernel?
I haven't played with custom roms or overclocking for a few years but remember a Nexus is a little easier than some other devices.
Any help or advice would be welcome, cheers

So as saidm i have ordered a N7 2012, now should i root and flash a custom rom from the start? I want a pretty fluid experience and i found this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581061
Has anyone tried that? any thoughts? Or should i just use stock, any help is appreciated
That's a question of personal preferences. I haven't used stock for more than two years now and I don't want to go back there.
Generally custom roms, kernels and rooting offer more possibilities for optimizing, hence you can make your tablet more fluid than on stock.
Hi all, I'm trying to find a ROM which is most like untouched standard Android (Like what you'd get on a Nexus device); this sort of ROM used to be referred to as 'Vanilla' but may also be know as Nexus or Google Play Edition.
I played with my friends new Moto X yesterday and the OS was so much faster and responsive than my phone, in my opinion. Furthermore, I prefer the aesthetics of the standard ROM; I know Motorola ROM's aren't completely free of changes but they are certainly a lot more uncustomised than Samsung with all its additions and customisations which I really hate the look of and find my phone gets laggy quickly unless a restart is performed.
I have extensive experience loading custom ROM's but I don't want to have to try all of them, I was hoping you may be able to help me find a ROM which matches my requirements. The addition of S Pen apps/compatibility would be awesome but I can obviously look into adding this myself if the ROM does not natively support it.
Thanks community!

If you just want plain standard nexus type rom them you just want plain cm from the original development section. There are a few versions of cm with added tweaks around as well but cm roms are pretty much only available for the qualcom n4 plus every cm rom will have a couple of bugs

Best ROM threads are banned. What works well for 1 person may not necessarily work well for you, its trial and error my friend.
aosp based roms
theres an aicp ported rom and rr ported rom in the development thread , also not on xda is du rom available on their website wich is what I'm currently using
note 4 910f best stable rom pie
im a newbie can you help please.
Did you find a rom that worked for samsung note 4 n910F marhmallow to pie? blutooth and camera ok?
A shop did this for me they tried twice but though android pie worked when I switched the fone off.. power off from the shutdown menu at end of day.... it wouldnt reastart at all. They gave up and reloaded samung marsmallow again which its running now.
As a newbie id appreciate knowng how and in which order you did this. Im thinking odin on computor, root fone to take nandroid copy twrp
If I end up with the same problem as the shop ie no restart, could I obtain and load an original samsung ver 5 or 6 android, as this would be easier than rooting the fone in order to make a nandroid copy.
THANK YOU !!! april 2020.
Hello guys, after my G4 has done ("suicide") I'm now with my old Nexus 4, just updated it from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1, as I understand this is the last official firmware for this device.
I don't know if because I've used a faster devices but this one is so lagging, stuck... I want any recommendation of a great ROM that make it a SUPER again
thanks in advance!
Try cm13 official or chroma.
Nougat roms are fine too but still there are few little bugs that need to be sorted out.
Performance wise, yes they are fast.

Fake Nexus 6.0 + root
Stable, fast and nexus stock feeling.
After the battery exploded on my Nexus 4, I got a Moto G (2015); around the same general price point. I then was able to repair the Nexus 4, but much like your experience I it was really painful to use after using the much speedier Moto G. I highly doubt you can make it "super" though. Chroma helped in the speed department and is super stable, but it is no longer supported (No more updates). I just keep the phone as an emergency backup (No cell plan). I am probably going to move to CM 13 next just so I get timely security updates, but I can't speak about the speed because I never used it. I would really like to go with CM 14 so I don't have to do this twice, but I would rather wait for the official release, as stability is most important to me.

There is no possibility that the ROM was tailored for everyone.
People have different preferences and are looking for different qualities.
People will tell you:
(...) ROM is fast, (...) ROM is stable!
The truth is that all the ROMs contain errors. It is the human factor.
If you test several that you know best.
I hard reset the device, now got new FOTA few official updates to 5.1.1 build LMY48T
I guess its the last official update by google for this device.
After the hard reset the device run smooth and fast (maybe the update from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 without hard reset caused a the issue)
Try pure nexus
Hi All,
Just wanting some recommendation on which Custom ROM to use if I want to use my I9505 mainly for gaming (emulation). Currently it is stock running 4.4.2 as it failed to install the OTA update.
I have managed to install TWRP onto it.
I have looked into LineageOS 14.1 but I have read that the battery suffers a lot (only lats a couple of hours apparently?) not sure if this is true though. As I want to use this for gaming ideally I would like this to last as long as possible without compromising performance.
Many thanks

Although ROM suggestions isn't recommended here, but best gaming experience is in stock ROM or stock based ROMs like wanam's ROM..., it would become better if there is a kernel with GPU and CPU OC..
Hey guys I have a quick question. I'm thinking about buying a 6P and I can't help but to be paranoid about all of the bootloop issues I'm hearing about. The thing is, it seems that this only happens with the official update(at least that's what I think). If I buy the phone(used) and flash a custom rom, will that be a way to avoid this bootloop issue?
Only some models are experiencing the bootloops issues (I don't know what about the Official PA), otherwise, you'll have a great number of some of the best custom roms (Resurrection remix, purenexus, lineage...) & kernels (elementalX, franco, flash...) and you can choose what's best for you.
I can also say, that the N6P has an amazing camera for taking great photos, and is just a great android phone.
Personnaly I'm on the android O developer preview 3 since more than a mounth, and I can say that it's running great with a good battery life and smooth animations.
Ok thanks. I guess I'll flash the custom rom as soon as I get it just to be on the safe side. The camera caught my attention. It's basically why I'm upgrading from my Oneplus One.
